Using photos in iweb media

Originally I was able to click on "media" in iweb when posting my daily blogs and making a website. The pictures would open up on the left of the screen and I could just drag them to where I wanted them. Now the pictures won't open unless I click on iphoto and work from there. What can I do to get the media "pictures" to open up again during work in iweb?
Also could someone look at my site and give me some suggestions?

When you click the media button in iWeb, a window should appear and then you select photos from the top menu bar. You should see an icon with iPhoto beside it. If the little black triangle is pointing to the icon, click the triangle and it will point downwards to give you a list of your albums etc.
Down at the bottom of the window is a grey bar with a dot in the center. Hover your mouse on the dot and it will become a +. Click, hold and drag upwards to reveal the photos in whichever album you selected. This business of revealing the actual photos when you can't see them causes confusion when you have a lot of stuff in iPhoto as it pushes the actual photos out of sight.

  • When using photos from the "Media" option in Applescripts and other apps, it takes a LONG time to load the photos from iPhoto...

It also happens when using the Media option in programs like iMovie. Has anyone found a solution for this problem?

    That is long...
    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
    If it is...
Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts or Users & Groups on 10.7 and 10.8), make a new Library in that account, import some shots  and see if the problem is repeated there.

  • No thumbnails appear in iweb media for photos

Back in Jan, this question was asked but I could not find the answer to this topic and it had a green star. Sorry to be redundant but this just happened. Could someone please help me out ? Thank you in advance.
When I select media on iWeb, iWeb pulls up my iphoto folders and not the thumbnails within the folders. My folder names appear and I can not click on them. Therefore, I can not drag any of my photos into iWeb. Any advice on why this is suddenly happening?

    creinhar:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you see the iPhoto, Events and Photos icons in the browser window? If so look at the bottom frame of the media browser for a dimple. Click and drag it upward to display the thumbnails of any icon selected above as seen in this screenshot.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photos albums from iphoto will not show in iweb media section

    Hello
I have 2 issues. Photo albums that I created in Iphoto will not show in the Iweb media section. Also, all of the photos from half the Photo pages go missing after I update and republish to my site. They still show on the site but the photos are not longer showing in Iweb and have to be added back to the photo pages.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
    1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • How can you Copyright your photos in iWeb

Does anyone know how to copyright your photos in iWeb so that others can download your images and claim them as their own?? thanks

Press: Option+"G" and you will have this "©" after it put your name as:
    ©Fito Pardo 2007
In photoshop or a program like this put your copyright notice on top of your photos like I did it:
    http://www.cinematograf.com/Links/Clientes/Pages/Belinda.html
If you like no one to download your pictures I recomend to you to put your images like here:
    http://www.cinematograf.com/Media/StillPortfolio/StillPortfolio.html
So is more dificult for others to use them as their own as this pictures are in way less resolution than prints and is very difficult to use video images on a catalog, it look like crap.
    And there is another way
Put your images like I did in video, then place a box layer on top of the video and make that box transparent:
Under the "Inspector" window, go to "Graphic", then go to "Opacity" and make the square "0%", make shure is on top of your whole video so no one can download your video.
This is actually the best way, but then again if you don't put a copyright notice like the "Belinda" pictures I did (she is a Latin Pop Star, That is why I put that copyright notice on top of every shot, there is a lot of fans who like to have some of those pictures) you will still have to worry about:
    "Shift" + "Command" (Or Apple) + "4"
That one is the command to copy what ever you want on the screen
I hope this works for you

  • Adding Photos to iWeb

Is it possible to add more than one photo page to a blog in iWeb? I can't seem to do it. I export from iPhoto and it comes up as the generic Apple supplied photo page. Then I try to add images from the media browser and they all come in as text boxes.
Also I've had trouble adding individual images to my blog entries, I drag the photo from the media browser to the entry but it doesn't accept it.
    Help, thanks.

    You have some other options:
    1. You can drag and drop the image from iPhoto into iWeb
    2. Use, from the toolbar: Insert > Choose.. and then select your file, if you know where it is!
    3. Take a look here to see how to export images from iPhoto to a folder/location.

  • Using Aperture with iWeb

Just installed 1.5 and updated all the previews. But I have tried to use 1.5 with iWeb (I run a blog using iWeb) but without much success. All the photos that iWeb displays are the Masters and not the versions that I worked on and want to export.
Also, my impression from the quicktime movie on 1.5's new features suggest that I can drag and drop directly from within Aperture into an iLife or iWork application. Has anyone been able to do this?
    Conrad

All my Aperture's images are accesible from iWeb in Media/Photos/Aperture.
The images there are the versions I worked on, not the masters. If you have few images in a stack only the pick will be displayed, so make sure you don't have the untouched master selected as the pick in a stack.

  • Using external HD as media disc?

Hello everybody. Just upgraded to Leopard and also got an external HD. I am wondering if there is some way to use it as a media disc?
In other words, I want all my folders such as Music, Pictures, Movies etc to be located on my external so that I can save space on the internal disc.
One way would be to just save everything on the external HD but it seems as if the "real" folders (Music, Pictures etc) have some special attributes that can't be achieved with normal folders. For example, the iPod Photo Cache folder is always located in the Pictures folder on my internal.
The only things that I want to have on my internal HD is applications and system files. Everything else goes on the external.
    Any suggestions?

One solution would be to move your home directory to the external HD permanently (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5894030), as long as you don't plan on using your computer without your external plugged in. If you go into System Preferences -> Accounts, and then ctrl+click on your account name and select "Advanced Options..." you can change the path of your home folder. In your case, it should probably be /Volumes/HDNAME/Users/USERNAME/, where HD_NAME = the name of your external HD and USER_NAME = your OSX account name. You may have to manually create the "Users" folder on your external.
If you did that, you'd probably want to create another user account with a home directory on the internal hard drive to use in case your external should ever stop working.
If that idea doesn't appeal to you, you could do the following (though it is an incomplete solution):
In order to move your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to your external, move your music/pictures folders to the external in Finder. Then, hold down the option key while starting up iTunes and iPhoto, and click "Choose Library..." Select your iTunes and iPhoto library files on the external.
According to http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300225, iTunes creates the iPod Photo Cache "in the top level of the folder you selected for your photos." So if you choose the "Pictures" folder on the external to sync with, it should be created there.
    Hope that helps!

  • Using Photos in iPhoto

    Hi -
When I use photos in iPhoto (meaning I post them to a blog, develop them, send them, etc) - I currently drag them from iPhoto to the desktop, where I can then find them (when I click "load file," etc). Am I doing this in the designed way? How else do I upload a photo from within iPhoto? I am new to using a Mac, so I am used to navigating to folders to upload something. I feel I have created a work around, rather than actually found the way iPhoto is designed to work.
    Thanks for your help!

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
    *For Users of 10.5 Only*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Apple-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
    *For users of 10.4 and 10.5* ...
Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
    Other options include:
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

  • Can I make an aperture slideshow and use it in iweb?

I need to know if I can make an aperture slideshow and use it in iweb (not making it a quicktime movie)? I don't want to use I photo (I know how to make one in Iphoto and put it in Iweb and I dont want to do this). (dont want a .mac gallery either) Please help. thank you!!!

Aperture slide shows are just for review. They can not be output. TBMK
Honestly, you've exhausted most of what iLife can do, and quicktime will probably be your output even if you go to Keynote to make your slide show.
But with Keynote you'll have more control over how the Quicktime is compressed.
Otherwise, you're looking at the expense AND the learning curve of Flash.
Maybe someone else will chime in with a 3rd party solution.

  • Looking for source of file of photo in iWeb

I have photos placed in iWeb from finder- somewhere. I can't find name, file info or source in Inspector. I would like to consolidate all art and photos in one folder for iWeb. Do I have to start over by placing files in a folder and re-placing them in iweb?
I would rather get info and location from iWeb.
Thank you for all previous help- you guys are the beans!

There's really no way to get the file path of the photos used in an iWeb photo page. Each file is copied into the iWeb domain package and renamed. So you can't even get the original file name.

  • Photos on iWeb (closer looks)

    Hello!
How do you set up photos on iWeb so that when they are published, you can click on them and they open a separate window and show you a close up?
    Thanks!
    bg

    bg:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. They do that already. Publish them to a photos page and when published and clicked on they will open in a larger window with a tray of thumbnails across the top. The slideshow also opens up to a larger size that can be paused to view more at leisure. Here's an example.
To get larger images that what's there you would have to upload a larger version, pixel wise, and then do a text link to each. That's not a good alternative. There may be other 3rd party slidehshow java file add on packages for the slideshow that might produce a larger size.
NOTE: Didn't notice you were using iWeb 1 so the example I gave is from iWeb 2.

  • How do I control the size of my photos in iWeb?

    Hello
I wish to ask if it is possible to control the size of a photo in iWeb when publishing photos.
What I want is that people can press on any photo in my collection and see it in high resolution. But at the moment it is messing with my photos. Some come up tiny regardless of them being a 4MB Pixel shot, and most of them if not all of them are restricted to one size...
    Thank you...
    -Steve

iWeb resizes photos in the following cases -
When using the of the photograph templates where you drag and drop your pictures:
    1) Size is capped at 800px x 800px for the slide
    2) Files are compressed, usually ~120KB\
    3) New thumbs are created (the small image you click on); those tend to be 35-45KB.
If you add a shadow, reflect or graphic option - odds are iWeb will convert your JPEG into a PNG and file size mushrooms. I've been created very compact banners, but due to PNG coversion the size has gone up by 6-8x...
I have NOT looked into just adding a photo to page and seeing what happens to the file size. Most of my tug of war has been with slide show and trying to understand why the 300-500KB files I was using were looking so bad. Now that I know iWeb is doing, I can sort of work around it.
It doesn't mean I'm happy. I'm going to add a gallery page with my favorites, format for roughly 1000x800 and keep the file size around 400 KB. I do all the file resizing in Photoshop CS2.
To put all this in perspective, i have around 325 picture uploaded - most were resized to 450 KB for the web. That 146 MB just for pictures. Add another 10 MB for web content, etc. I thought ~160MB should be used up on the iDisk. Due to iWeb's compression, usage is only 70 MB for this site.

  • Cannot see Aperture 3 photos in iWeb

I have a huge problem... I am a photographer and am constantly updating my website, however, I cannot see my Aperture 3 photos in iWeb (the folders that I have created over the past few months don't show up at all). I have had to transfer photos from Aperture 3 to my iPhoto library in order to use them in iWeb, which is such a waste of time (and space). Can someone please assist???

If you have not found any problems using DiskUtility, I would suggest that you might try deleting your Aperture preferences file (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2945) then re-open Aperture and set your preferences up again. That may resolve the iWeb issue as well as your Export difficulties.
    Let us know what happens.
    Cheers!

  • White specs  on photos in iWeb

Upload and posted photos to iWeb and everything looks fine when viewing my site using Firefox, IE and Safari.
The problem is that other people are seeing WHITE SPECS all over the images. Does anyone know what I can to do fix this?
Internet Explorer to view the photos. Don't know what version they are running or if it matters.
    Thank you!

I've seen this and it's really strange. It's some funky way that some versions of IE displays some .jpg's. I didn't see a resolution to the problem, though.
