Using Photoshop Elements 4.0 on more than one computer

I store and edit my photos on my pc. Occasionally, I would like to take some photos with me and edit them on my laptop while I travel. When I come home, how can I transfer the version sets, stacks, etc. with the photos back to my pc?
P.S. When I uploaded some photos to my pc to my laptop, the tags came along with them (Yay!)--all except the "star" favorites tags (rated 1-5 stars). Why didn't those tags follow the photos? If I add new tags to the photos while I'm working on my laptop, will they "follow" the files back to my pc?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Laurie
My thinking is an Elements Move command copies the underlying entries in the Organizer's MS Access database.
So I am thinking this scenerio works
b (with a shout out to other forum users to correct me if I am wrong)
Have PC and Laptop on the network.
Select the pictures you want to use and Move them to the Laptop.
Go do your editing on the Laptop.
When you return, have PC and Laptop on the network, select the pictures and Move them to the PC.
As always a test would be nice before doing any critical pictures. Perhaps create a new version set and tags on PC, transfer to Laptop, edit (maybe add a new tag) and then transfer back to PC.
Option B (depending on large and portable the external drive is)
Do a Backup/Restore of all your photos to your external drive. This will put a copy of Organizer files on the external drive.
Then always work with the external drive.
The hiccups are 1) you have to carry the EHD in addition to the laptop and 2) both the laptop and the PC have to reference the EHD as the same drive letter (say Drive D:\)
Also need to change the default location for catalogs under Edit>Preferences>files on both machines.
I vote for testing the first option and seeing how that works.
Also still curious about tags following your pictures, but not too concerned if the network Move works.

It‘s been part of recent versions, perhaps from PSE8 onward; I‘m not exactly sure. The software activates automatically upon installation. If you ever change computers and already have two activations simply open the Editor on the old machine and on the top menu click help à deactivate

  • Can I use my lightroom 5 CD on more than one computer? Toshiba to my new Mac Book Pro?

I have Lightroom 5 CD that I've used for 2 years in my Toshiba laptop. I have a new Mac Book Pro and was wondering if I purchase an external CD for it, can I use my software on my new computer. I wasn't sure if it can be used on more than one computer...It doesn't say on the software box.
    Thank you so much!

There are normally three options: License, buy or try. See image below.

  • Can I use Creative Cloud for students on more than one computer at the same time?

I get different info when I read about how I could use creative cloud.
Somewhere it say I can install and activate on two computers but only run the applications on one computer at the time.
On antother place I read that I can use the applications on two computers at the same time.
    So what is correct?
Can I install and activa Creative Cloud for students on my PC and my Mac and also run the applications on both computers at the same time?

I already gave you the info you seek, but you don't seem to want to accept it.  Here it is in writing from Adobe's EULA (find it at: General-terms)
    "4.1 Subscription-Based Software License.
If we provide the Software to you as part of your subscription to use the Services, then subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a non-exclusive license to install and use the Software: (a) in the Territory, (b) so long as your subscription is valid, and (c) consistent with these terms and related documentation accompanying the Software. “Territory” means worldwide, but excludes any U.S. embargoed countries and countries where you are prohibited from using the Software or the Services. You may activate the Software on up to 2 devices (or virtual machines) at a time, if these activations are associated with the same Adobe ID for the same individual, unless stated at http://www.adobe.com/go/activation. However, you may not use the Software on these devices simultaneously."
You appear to want to believe that because you think you have a way of getting around the agreement without being caught it would be okay to do.  You are bound to the agreement if you purchase the subscription.  Do you understand what intentionally (and with fore-knowledge) failing to honor a contract constitutes?

    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
PowerMac G4s never were 15". Don't you mean Powerbook G4 15"? If you mean Powerbook G4 15" and it came with Tiger, then the answer is no, as my FAQ explains:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html#SYSTEMSPECIFIC
If you mean a PowerMac G4 with a 15" Apple LCD, it may have come with an older operating system. Use the articles I link to on:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html#IDENTIFY
    to identify your Mac.
    And use
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25517
to determine which operating system came with that Mac.
If both machines came with pre-Mac OS X 10.4, they can use a Mac OS X 10.4 Family pack if they meet specs for the installation.

    Hi Kasiah,
As per the EULA accepted while you launch Adobe applications you can download & install on 2 systems but can use on one at the same time.

  • Can not get more than one computer to access internet

using airport and can not get more than one computer to access internet wirelessly... currently airport is in bridge mode and internet sharing is set to "off" in network preferences...
help - what should the settings be in airport and network preferences?

are using internet connection as dhcp?
    Yes.
bridge mode seems to only work with pppoe connection to internet which is what my set up is
But you've never said why you're using bridge mode (I'm not), which -- as I've explained before -- is probably the reason you can connect only 1 client at a time.
If you'll setup the AX as a regular, main base station, connect using DHCP, and share IP addresses, you should be fine.

  • Using photoshop on more than one computer

I purchased Photoshop CS6 for my home Mac several months ago. I am about to buy my daughter a Mac. Will I be able to install photoshop on her computer, too? Can I use it on more than one computer in the same household?

You can "install" it on two computers, but the End User License Agreement stipulates that you cannot run it on both at the same time.

  • Can I install photoshop cs5 on more than one computer, if "owned" by a different user?

I want to install my recently purchased photoshop cs5 on my macbook, as well as my imac. The only thing I worry about is that the macbook is in my name and the imac is technically in my dad's name, even though he only uses it to surf the web. The only reason he even bought the imac as opposed to anything else is so that I'd have a great place to edit photos. I really need it to be on both, will this work? Anyone have experience with this?

This is what I was able to dig out
May I use the software on more than one computer at a time?
The activation process supports installation on two machines. The Adobe product license agreement allows the primary user to install the product on a primary computer and also on a home or laptop computer for his or her use, provided that the two copies are not used simultaneously. While the activation process supports installing and activating Adobe software on two machines, the usage of the product on the second computer is restricted to the user who licensed the software. Allowing others to use a second copy of the software violates the product license agreement.

  • Photoshop on more than one computer with my one subscription price?

I have a monthly subscription for Photoshop CS6.  Am I able to download and use Photoshop on more than one computer with my one subscription price?

Also, I have no registered products.  I thought my CS6 would have shown up s a registered product.  Is this why I cannot find a serial number?  I apologize for dragging this on but I simply can't figure this one out.
Also, I read that adobe is no longer updating CS6.  And on the Creative Cloud app it doesn't even give the option to download CS6 as a trial.  It only offers CC to trial.  Should I be doing that?
    Thank you again.

You have 2 activations and the licenses is tied to you personally and you only. You cannot let other people use your software (unless they are family).
