Using Photoshop to create photo-based designs...

Greetings
I have a restaurant exterior design proposal to complete and was considering to use my new PS CS 5 for selecting areas and painting new colors in them or replacing colors
I also have to "remove" other architectural elements like a round awning and solid railing, and add a gable canopy and wrought Iron railin
The adding objects in layers is no problem, but
what would be the best way to extend an existing roof overhang out 10' for the canopy?
select the fascia and soffit and move it out...but to fill in the area under it could proove to be a challenge from the groung level vantage point
Does anyone else do this sort of photo-based architectural imaging?
or can someone direct me to some tips for doing this sort of work?
I don't have access to any elevation cad-files yet so just have to do it over the photo, to sell them the concept.

When using Photoshop all my photos come out with a redish tint.What is going on?

I can print color and black and white photos all the time, except when I try to print a manipulated photo using Photoshop. When I use Photoshop they have a redish tint to them. It does not matter if I print try to print color or black and white, they all come out with a redish tint. i do not know what is wrong. my printer works well at all other times. this problem occurs only when i go to print photos from Photoshop. Help , Please.
I use Windows 7 and have an HP 4680 office printer.

Yes your edits will be there if you import the edited version. Yes it will go to the Cloud with the edits. What you read is that edits made in iPhoto and Aperture after the library has been migrated will not be available in Photos. But you could still export from iPhoto/Aperture to the Finder and then import to Photos, like with PSE.

IPhoto using Photoshop to edit photo's

When I use iPhoto but have the option to edit using Photoshop selected. When I edit a photo, Photoshop opens but the selected image is not displayed.

You can use Photoshop CS4. The process is the same but Photoshop CS4 is more powerful and can do more stuff.

Using Photoshop to create web graphics on a MacBook Retina Display

I have the new 2014 MacBook Pro with Retina Display and just downloaded the latest version of Photoshop. I've found that when creating graphics for the web (buttons, banners, etc), I have to zoom to 200% in order for the size of the graphic to be what will appear on the web. For example, a 600px wide banner appears to be 300px wide in Photoshop (even though it is, indeed, 600px when viewed on the web). I've learned that I have three options:
1) design while squinting to see the very small object on the screen (not really a good choice),
2) check the "Open in Low Resolution" box for Photoshop if I want my graphics to appear to be the right size when designing them in Photoshop, or
3) continue zooming to 200% when working in Photoshop.
My question is: aside from the obvious annoyance factor, which of these options is the best choice for creating the highest quality graphics for the web? Are they both the same result... or am I hurting my graphics in some way by choosing one over the other?

That statement indicates you have a bit of a misunderstanding about how things work. It's not true, because you seem to be confusing the term "px" with a physical measurement. What you need to understand is that a pixel on a Retina display is far smaller than one on a non-retina display.
The key is this: Images are upsampled by Safari when displayed. Therefore, "viewed on the web", which you appear to think of as invariant, is actually not the same from computer to computer. Once you truly understand how images are actually being displayed, you'll be able to make the right decisions that work for you.
Keep in mind that Photoshop is giving you the use of each and every pixel in that beautiful 200+ ppi Retina display. Safari is not, unless you program your HTML to take advantage of it.
The future of the web, in my opinion, is moving toward a model where images are actually provided at a higher-than-absolutely necessary resolution, and so high resolution displays will be able to make more of them, and people can easily use zooming to see even more detail as they want.

How to use photoshop to create a Media UI

Hey, I was wondering if there is anyway to create document in photoshop that could load specific video files. Myabe link it through a slice? or something like that. As you can see im not very good with this stuff, but it would be nice if i could design and create a UI where i could browse and play family videos etc. Any help would be much apreciated, Thanks.

They work fine. I first tried with a clone of my main drive doing an update in place on it.
i guess I will need to boot into 10.9 to use them.
I will mostly use stand-in apps like Pixelmator.

Can i 'open using photoshop' without creating another image in LR

I'm working with RAW files imported into LR 3.2
I swear that in an earlier version of LR - when I did 'open with photoshop' a corresponding Tiff file was not created in LR unless the image was saved in Photoshop.
I'm sure it used to work along these lines...
Open with PS, start to edit in photoshop - then decide not to continue - exit photoshop without saving. Tiff not created in LR.
Open with PS, start to edit in photoshop - Ctrl+S in Potoshop (or save on exit, etc). Tiff was created in LR.
anyway- that's the methodology I want.... can I have it?
[I know that I can 'export' as a Tiff, but thats not the option I want. I only want files opened with PS, from LR, to save in LR if saved in PS]

I never use bridge..but,
If i browse to a folder with a raw file (I use DNG) and right click, open with CS5 - adobe CR6.3 and CS5 fire up.
In LR i import from camera, as DNG files.
If I use the edit with CS5 command, PSCS5 fires up but the image never shows in CS5, a corresponding Tiff is not created in LR. [This is an unresolved issue from some time ago, I've deleted preferences files etc..but cannot get transfer from LR to CS5 using 'edit with CS5']
To overcome this i have CS5 set up as second external editor - having pointed it to where CS5 is installed]
So. I have the DNG files in LR3.3.
Right Click - Edit in photoshope.exe (manually pointed as discussed above)
Dialog box 'what to edit' opens - choice of open a copy with LR adjustements is the only choice. Can selecte file size etc.
irrespective of whether 'stack with original' is selected - a Tiff file is genrated in LR, and CS5 fires up with the Tiff file open.
Saving in CS5 results in the file in LR being updated to match.
As earlier - I only want a Tiff created in LR, if I decide to save the Tiff from CS5.

Creating website using Photoshop

I created a website using Photoshop. I created the slices and
exported html and images. I am now in Dreamweaver and am not 100%
sure what to do. I have been watching several tutorials and read
that you need to make div tags. I have a background image (notepad
image) that I want to place text over for my main content. I'm not
sure if I should create the text in Photoshop or in Dreamweaver? I
know it will probably be a lot easier to edit if I did the content
in Dreamweaver but I can't seem to get it right. Can someone
explain how I do the div tags using CSS? Is it OK to use photoshop
to create the text and if so, is it hard to edit? Please give me
your thoughts.

Using Photoshop SDK to merge images in Web Application

Hi,
More of a query than an issue. We have an ASP.NET Web application - and our client has asked that we provide the facility to merge two images on the site. Basically, a user uploads their photo to the site - and then can choose to insert it into an e.g. postcard of the Eiffel tower.
So, we use image layers - where we use Photoshop to create the Eiffel Tower postcard - and then the website user's image is layered behind that in a particular location.
So, the question - can we use the Photoshop SDK to integrate with ASP.NET to take the website user's image and insert it into the appropriate position on the Eiffer Tower postcard image (using layers).
Any other suggestion?

think Adobe have more suitable tools for this environment (without

Reader 11.0.07 does not display content of PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1

We use some PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1 which do not show any content when opened with Reader 11.0.07, only a blank display area or erratic copies of the screen behind it. Documents look fine in print preview though and also print correctly. Tried to change various security or display settings, no effect. Tried other machines, different hardware, different OS versions (Win7, Win8), same effect on every single device with 11.0.07 installed.
Any ideas, anyone?!?

Not sure why you are resolving the node (??), also I would not be inclined to include a period in the object name (.), maybe this is why you are resolving the node.
Also I don't see in the script where you are calling the instanceManager, in order to use the addInstance method.
Having said that the problem may be in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab:
Check that Preserve script changes is set to Automatic.
Lastly is the form Reader Enabled? It would need to be for users with Reader to save the changes, including new instances of a repeating element.

Form created with Livecycle Designer with a SQL database - do you need LiveCycle Forms installed?

I'm REALLY hoping someone here can help me, I have spent over four hours on the phone to Adobe in the last 3 days and I'm getting no where what-so-ever. I can't even find out where /how to complain about it! (but thats another story)
Here's my situtation:
I work for a company with approx 140 staff. On one computer, we have Adobe Livecycle Designer ES installed, and we have used that program to create a form which has a link to a SQL database.
The link in this form doesn't work on the other computers which has the basic (free) Adobe Reader. From doing research within these forums
, I have found that the form will not work on other computers unless they have Adobe Livecycle forms installed on their machines.
What I need to know (and what they cannot seem to tell me when I call), is two things:
Is it correct that in order to use a form created in Livecycle Designer which has a link to a SQL database, that the machine must have LiveCycle forms installed?
How much does Adobe LiveCycle Forms costs?
PLEASE, if you can answer this question, I would REALLY appriciate it....

I presume you are asking if you need Livecycle Forms ES? Forms ES is a component of the livecycle software suite intended as a document service which will be installed on a server within the organisation. A couple of things this document service can do is to render XDP into multiple formats (PDF, html, etc.), execute script server side (for example the database connection) on behalf of the client (reader, etc.), integrate with backend components, etc. So no you do not install this on each client.
For database connections to work, you either have a server with Forms ES installed which can connect on each clients behalf (ie. Client->Forms ES Server->Database), or you have a reader-extended PDF to allow connections to be use in the free basic Reader (i.e. direct calls to the database or using web service calls to your own database components). However, reader-extended pdf would probably require Reader Extensions ES component installed on a server (you once off extend your developed pdf through this and then hand it out to each of the end users). Not sure if the Acrobat Reader extensions will cover this functionality since I have not tried that. I dont think it does. Otherwise you would need full acrobat on each client.
How much database integration is your form actually doing at the moment? read only? Full access? And how many clients do you expect to hit your database? Depending on what you need the form to do, there is always the option to try and build the integration yourself. Do simple http submits from the browser (hosting reader as a plugin) to some component somewhere which in turn hits your database. Wouldnt require additional licensing but alot more development work.
As for cost for the various components, thats a question only Adobe can answer for you since they all sit squarely in the enterprise space and licensing for that is not as simple as off the shelf products.
Maybe someone else has a view on it or has an alternative.
