Using pre-designed transitions with video menu

I created a video menu and I want to use one of the pre-designed transitions that can with DVD SP. However when I hit the play button and the transitions starts the menu jumps to the loop point to play the transition. Is there anyway to get it to run the transition from whatever point the menu happens to be at or do these transitions just work better with still menus as apposed to video menus.

No way for this to function the way you like. When you press a button the disc needs to go somewhere - so it picks your loop point. DVD transitions in better suited for still menus or menus with little movement.

I am fairly new to Dreamweaver (cs6), having previously designed and maintained a few sites using Freeway. I purchased a template from TemplateMonster.com in the hope that this would simplify the creation of a new site. The template came without any instructions other than how to unzip the file. Their helpline really isn't helpful at all. Can anyone recommend an online tutorial on how to use a predesigned template? Lynda.com doesn't have one. Thanks!

Transitions with video in Keynote

I have a problem with longer videos playing in keynote .... the page transitions through to the next page before the video completes ... Any ideas ??

Check your trasition delay times, if you are trying to have the slide automatically transition to the following slide note that you can only delay :60 seconds. You can add transparent shapes (work around) and give them a transition time which will add time, ie. your video is 2:55 sec add 2 shapes with a delay of :60 one transitioning after the other, and putting the delay on the video of :55. This works for me any way. Good luck.

Anyone use Pre-installed media with UPRELOAD before on tablet 1051?

So after much arguing with phone support they sent me a recovery USB from Windows 8.1 32bit. The program will boot from boot menu but it's not like any Windows update I've ever seen. It just says preloading forever after selecting my 10-inch tablet size and en-us.

It was my understanding that this would just install like a normal OS and recognize the internal key. Really starting to regret updating windows 10, rather have a working system than an updated brick lol!

After synching my original design Ipod (with video), "eject before disconnecting" message appears. Eject what?

After synching my Ipod to my computer for additional songs, I get a message saying "eject before disconnecting" on my computer and the Ipod displays DO NOT DISCONNECT. What are they wanting me to eject?

You probably have the iPod in "disk mode," for transferring files other than music, etc. It's asking you to eject the iPod using the computer controls. in iTunes, that's the little up-arrow next to the iPod name in the sidebar. On a mac, the up-arrow will appear next to the iPod name in a Finder window. On Windows, you can use the task bar to eject.
If you don't like this behavior, you can disable it. While the iPod is plugged in, click on the iPod in the sidebar*. In the "Summary" tab, make sure that "Manually Manage Music and videos" and "Enable disk use" are unchecked. Then, you will be able to unplug the iPod as soon as sync is completed, without having to eject.
If you don't have a sidebar, go to the "View" drop-down menu, and choose "Show Sidebar." I always leave it on, I have no idea why it is disabled by default in the new installs.

Can I use CS3 Design Standard with CS4 Web Standard?

I have a somewhat confusing question/s. I have CS3 Design Standard currently. I need Dreamweaver and Flash and I'd like to do it the most cost effective way. I'm perfectly happy with my CS3 versions of Photoshop & Illustrator and don't really want to pay for upgrading them unless I really have to.
1. If I purchase CS4 Web Standard, not upgrade, will that impact my ability to use my CS3 products. (specifically, Photoshop & Illustrator) Can you run both CS3 & CS4 concurrently?
2. If I upgrade from the CS3 Design Standard to CS4 Web Standard, will it delete my CS3 Photoshop & Illustrator or will it just add the CS4 applications and leave the CS3 products (that aren't included in the upgrade) alone?

Why do I get errors when I use pre-trigger scans with a relatively small number of samples?

I have a PXI6115 (hi mem option) that I am using to collect data at 5 MHz. If I collect about 10,000 samples with 100 pretrigger scans, the acquisition works fine. However, if I collect 1000 samples with 100 pretrigger scans, I get an AI Read error. Likewise, I can collect 10 pretrigger scans with a sample size of 1000 but I get an error if I try to colelct 10 pretrigger scans with only 100 total samples.
Why is that the case?

Strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image

hello all,
got a strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image,
menu size is 1920 x 1080 (photoshop file)
mpeg2 video 1920 x 1080 (1second 19 frames)
the idea is to go from the menu link to the next sub menu with a video as transition, using the same image on the video as the menu and then zooming in (in my case through a door) to end up after the zoom in the next level menu.
I try to achieve a smooth change from the first play menu picture to the video image into the next level menu picture,
everything works good but when I watch it on the preview mode on the left and right side of the video it shows a black bar at least 15 to 25 pixel wide, that means the video image appears smaller and it causes a little jump what is preety disturbing and can not be sold as a professional work.
why encore treats the video size and picture differently?

I'm having a very similar problem with Encore. My menu items are distorting (a minor but infuriating squashing top and bottom) when previewed.
Using Encore,PS,AE CS4
DVD format SD PAL DV widescreen
I created 3 menu frameworks and 3 video transistions to link them in AE. On the final frame of each transistion in AE I saved the frame with Composition>Save Frame to> Photoshop Layers. In PS i added the button functionality and saved.
In Encore I use Dynamic link to import AE transistions as timelines and imported each PS menu twice, once as "menu" and once as an asset.
When I link the timeline transistions to the menu and preview at the point the menu begins the whole image is squashed. When the next transistion is activated the image returns to its original size.
Thinking it was the use of PS that was causing the menus to distort I used the menu asset directly in the time line. Obviously no menu functionality but also no distortion. The AE transistion flowed straight into the "menu" just as I expected.
In the properties panel the menu Aspect Ratio 16:9
The AE transistions PAR is SD PALwidescreen 1.4587.
I did try the Blu Ray suggestion above but the same distortion was apparent.
Any suggestions short of squashing the video to match the menu would be welcomed.

Just how on earth do you get menu transitions with sound to work???

I've tried importing them as DVD compliant MPEG-2s (audio and video multiplexed) made with Main Concept and also tried importing them as AVIs.
Encore seems incapable of transcoding either. Yes, it does try to transcode the MPEG-2s even though I've asked it not to. It seems that even DVD compliant files must be transcoded when used as transitions. It doesn't try to transcode motion menu or timeline MPEG-2s created in exactly the same way.
Can someone tell me exactly what Encore requires me to import to get working transitions with sound? Exact format, sound resolution, number of channels, bitrate, file type, etc. Is there a minimum length for transitions? Mine are 1 second long - they're just the transition flipping from page to page in a notebook.
Is there something else I'm missing or is Encore just not capable of doing this?
I think I'm going to have to just scrap the transitions otherwise :(

One second is awfully short for an MPEG video clip. You're really challenging the MPEG decoder on the playback device. And if you're using .ac3 audio, it can take up to 2 seconds for the AC3 decoder on a hardware or software DVD player to lock on to the audio stream. Dolby themselves recommend 2 seconds of audio "black" at the beginning of an .ac3 soundtrack.
So - try lengthening the transition; or use PCM audio in your project instead of .ac3. Unfortunately, the PCM audio route leads to less space on the disc for your video.

Sound with video transitions.

Hey, I'm using DVD Studio Pro 3 and I have a video transition for a button between a menu and a track. Now, the video I am using for the transition has sound, however there is not sound in the transition on the dvd.
Can you not have sound, or is there something I can do to fix this?

What you need to do is make a video that looks like one menu is transitioning to the next. Let's say Menu 1 is a .psd (photoshop file) and Menu 2 is a different .psd. Take these files into FCP (or another editing program), perform your groovey transition from Menu 1 to Menu 2, lay your audio underneath it, then export as a .mov, or if you're happy using compressor export it as a .m2v and .ac3
Then bring your new video into DVDSP and place it into a new menu, lets call it Menu 1>2 (you could also place into a Track but in menus all the User Operations are already disabled).
Now, with the button that takes you from Menu 1 to Menu 2, remove the transition that you had chosen from the button inspector and simply make the target fro the button the new menu Menu 1>2, when this plays it will look just like your Menu 1 but it will play the transition you have created with the audio, then set the end jump of this menu to Menu 2. You don't put any buttons or anything into Menu 1>2, its just there as a bridge between Menu 1 and Menu 2, and there you have it.
The up side of this is that you won't get long pause that DVDSP often has when using the preset transitions. The downside is you need to create all your menu transitions this way if you're using audio which can be a lot of work if you're moving between a lot of menus and submenus.

Video transitions with audio

Hello all,
Is there any way of doing a seamless transition from a menu to track with audio as well as video.
I'm trying to create an interactive DVD for Children where you click on a rabbit, it then moves in the video transition and then becomes a track where ther is a close up of the movement.
I have audio on the close up as it is a track but it would make it much better if there was audio on the transition movie.

What sort of programmes do the high end blockbuster DVD producers use?
Some very high end expensive ones like Scenarist and others. Though between DVD SP, DVD AE and some good encoders (such as bitVice, digigami, or CC running on a MacIntel Windows set-up) you can do some real good things and accomplish many things that need to get done. The real kicker for those DVDs (IMO) is the source footage - cameras, lighting and post work. Dealing with real good source is a plus.
And of course you have very talented graphics people for the menus and so on. But once those elements are made and encoded to m2v, DVD SP for the most part, with DVD AE, can do alot of the same things. The vast majority of what is on a DVD for many DVDs really is not different. You get your cutsey things and so forth, and things that make you go "coool" especially when you author your own DVDs.
Jake, Hal and others probably can fill you in more on what they like in the other systems and what they think DVD SP may/does lack, but again DVD SP and DVD AE together is a pretty strong set up.
There is also other software out there that adds interactivity to DVDs (I think things like Who Wants to Be A Millionaire on DVD and some others may have used variations) but do not hold me to it.

Video Transition with transparency

I have a Motion file that is all video no audio. This file is a series of lines going across the screen with a black background. I want the DVD main menu to be seen through the lines when the transition happens. However, right now when the button with the video transition is pressed the video is played and then the other menu appears. The movie file is not played over top of the the menu. Is there a way to do this? I have tried to set the background color to 0% opacity and export this file and use it as the video transition, with the same aforementioned results.

You can import a transition movie with alpha into DVDSP but its tricky. One downside is you can't include audio in your transition. If you'd like to try check here..

I suggest editing your two movies together in motion, or FCP. Have the menu start as the last frame of you first menu then in DVDSP set this new movie as the background to your target menu with the loop point set after the transition completes. That's a quick and dirty, but for a more in depth look check here.

Motion 5 - Transitions with breaks in the video content? How?

I hope someone can help with this. I am trying to create a transition between two clips which while transitioning will show a text frame ot introduce the next video. I want it to break the flow between the videos. When I create the transition in Motion 5 I have assembled all the elements, made transition A last for 2 seconds, there is a 6 second gap then as the camera pans to the text element and then across to Transition B which itself then runs for 2 seconds.
This is how i designed it, it works fine in Motion and looks how I want it. However when I export to Final Cut and use in a project it creates the transition but it ignores the break i put between content A and content B. Instead I get 5 second tail out of Clip A and 5 seconds lead in on Clip B. Its driving me mad as I want both feeds to go quiet and do nothing while the text displays.
Does anyone know how I can get FCP to recognise the break I have put in Motion and therefore only tail each clip for 2 seconds not the entire duration of the transition?
If this cant bedone, how could I best acheive what im trying to do?

Try this first:
Select the Project "layer" and in the Inspector > Properties select Override FCP. This will "force" fcpx to use the timing you designated for your project as the length to use for the transition. Otherwise, FCPX uses the length you have set in fcpx preferences.
