Using Prepaid Freedom overseas

Could someone please clarify Prepaid Freedom use whilst overseas. I am currently a postpaid user but thinking of switching as for same cost i would get more call allowance and way more data on prepaid. But i dont understand if/how i can use phone overseas. On that prepaid Freedom plan, what charges would i be expecting if i took it overseas and made a call to an Australia mobile number, or a SMS?Also, can i keep my postpaid number when i change to prepaid (both Telstra)? Thanks

Last question first Does, yes youi can retain your number. I'd suggest that you pop onmto the following link, it offers a comprehensive summary of everything associated with the pre-paid Freedom plan and use, rates etc. both in Australia and overseas: https://www.telstra.com.au/content/dam/tcom/personal/help/pdf/cis-personal/mobile/personal-critical-information-summary-tpp-mobile-summary.pdf

  • Using a MacBook overseas

I am thinking of purchasing a MacBook. Never owned a laptop before.
I may be using the MacBook overseas as well to do some work. Is it easy to do wireless connection to the Internet at an Internet cafe or hotel or private home with a MacBook? I somehow got the impression using a Mac at a hotspot might be more complicated than using a PC...
Obviously, I don't know enough about wireless technology yet. I have an eMac and DSL at home currently. I know I'll need to upgrade soon, so thought about getting a laptop.
    Thanks.

I also am worried about accessing any financial accounts I have, or any account for that matter (even e-mail), via wireless Internet connection from outside the U.S. How safe is it?
What kind of measures do people take to ensure secure access? Do you even dare access your bank or credit card account via the Internet when you're outside of the country (using wireless or not)?

Make sure you're using the correct code. For most iTunes cards, the code is under the scratchoff area on the back of the card. For more information, see this support article:

If you can't get to work after perusing that page, contact the iTunes Store Support; instructions are at the bottom of that article.
    Good luck.

  • I am currently using an ipad overseas to put photos to icloud whilst travelling.  If I lose the ipad will i still be able to access the photos given I don´t have another mac device (but could use someone elses)? Thanks

I am currently using an ipad overseas with the hope that I can backup photos to icloud in case I lose the camera and ipad.  I don´t have another mac device but could use my girlfriends when I get home. Would it be possible to access my photos on her macbook using my icloud?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Assuming you are logged into your iCloud account and have enabled photo stream on your device, then any photos you take on your iPad will be added to photo stream and can be shared to any device that is logged into the same iCloud account.
If while away, you lose your iPad, then upon your return you would need to log into your iCloud account on your girlfriend's computer and enable photostream, by doing this you would then be able to download all the photos you added to photo stream whilst you were away.

  • HT4528 I receive a 4s after been use for 2 years in the verizon network and the customer upgrade to a 5.I will like to use the phone overseas but I do not use Verizon.

I receive a 4s after been use for 2 years in the verizon network and the customer upgrade to a 5. I will like to use the phone overseas but I do not use Verizon, how I can get this phone legally unlocked without having to add service because I'm with Sprint under a contract?
I can get the prior  owner of the phone info if you nedd to contac her to verify, just let me know thank you.
If the phone was used in the Verizon network for 2 years, is that not enough time to get the phone unlocked?

I have sprint phone and service without simcard, Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. But if I can get the Verizon iPhone 4S unlocked, I can use it let's said in the caribean, canada, europe etc.,  with a local simcard from the service provider and country that I visit . No to be use here in USA with Sprint or Verizon, only to be use with GSM-Simcard when I travel out of USA.

  • I travel Alot and want to use my iphone overseas

I have been with Cingular/ATT for the last 4 years. I jsut bought my iphone because I do enjoy the use of safari while I'm on the run, since I run an ecommerce company. I have heard that we can not unlock our iphones if we go overseas, is this true? My Nokia's were unlocked, basically every time I travelled which ever company was the manufacturer, I would request a code and I would get it. So are we basically just stuck using the phone in the US, and get bent over on roaming charges and long distance when we travel? What about the people who are in the country I'm visiting they would need to call Boise, Idaho, to get a hold of me. What if I met a hot chick and she wasnts my number, then what, I gotta ask her to call me in the USA? Thats kind of silly, I'm hoping there is a way to unlock the phone, otherwise, I wont be using it for 50% of the time. Someone let me know please if we can unlock our iphones.

That's what I do. I don't want to lose my accessibility so I carry the iPhone and a cheap no-name GSM phone that I use with local prepaid SIM cards. People calling my number reach me while traveling, but I don't have to run up huge bills making local calls where I am temporarily located.
You can also purchase 20 MB and 50 MB per month roaming data packages from AT&T so you can use the data features traveling.

  • Can i use Prepaid card for purchases?

i Have VISA prepaid card woth US $10. Can i use it as a oayment method in iTunes?

The online store uses the same address validation - the help pages for the US online store includes :
    Account verification
To prevent any unnecessary delays processing your order, please ensure that the billing addresses on your order matches the information on your credit card account.
Again you can try using it, but you are likely to get an error message

  • Is it possible to use Prepaid-Creditcard like Visa or MasterCard?

Is it possible to open an iCloud-Account with Prepaid-Creditcards? Cards like VISA or MasterCard with a pre paid cash. No iTunes-Cards. Thanks for your analer.

    yes you can
i use that , i think it is better where you can pay a certain amount of money that you are supposed that is for apps only
but if have visa or master card it is kinda unsafe where you will be purchasing without feeling then you will have a big bill
so it is 100% works and i think it is better

  • Buying a used prepaid  Pantech Caper  on Ebay

I'm looking to upgrade my phone and I found the pantech Caper on verizon, but noticed it was sold out. I found it on Ebay but, I am a little confused on how I would activate it or add it to my account since it's been used. I plan on using it with the 50$ unlimited plan. If anyone can help that would be nice.

You can call the prepaid number at 1-888-284-6804, if your transferring the phone number from another cell be sure to backup your accounts before deactivating the old cell, once you change the number all your info will be lost. If your a new customer just call the prepaid number and they can get you activated, you will need to have either a prepaid card or Debit, or Charge number to active the phone.

  • Using my Powerbook Overseas

I will be studying in the UK for about a year. I purchased the Apple travel adapters, but I am unsure whether it is still safe to plug my Powerbook into the wall with only the adapter. Does anyone have any knowledge in this area? Can the powerblock permit the amount of voltage in the UK?

Here is what is in an Apple knowledge base article:
Question 15: I will be travelling overseas and will be taking my PowerBook computer with me. Which adapters do I need for the power and modem?
Answer: The PowerBook computers can use 115 V and 230 V AC. You will need a power prong adaptor available at many electronic and travel retailers. Review the following technical document for more details. Document 129: "World Power Differences Can Limit International Product Usage"
It looks as if will work just fine with the adapters.

  • Can / will  Apple Unlock my iPhone 4 for use with an overseas SIM card?

I have purchased a second hand iPhone 4 which I want to use when I travel overseas using a local SIM card, will my local Apple store be happy to block it so that I can do that or do I need to find a third party unlocking company? I would rather do it through the manufacturer but I am not sure whether this is allowed or not?

If you have purchased the iPhone from someone else and you intend to use it on a differing network the ORIGINAL OWNER MUST DO THE UNLOCK BEFORE SALE as the phone iMEi number is tied to that account and network.
The system is the registered user contacts their Mobile operator confirms iMEI number and pays appropriate fee.
That Mobile operator submits the iMEi number to Apple.
Apple white list iMEi number on their iTunes server and confirms this back to Mobile operator.
The Mobile operator sends the registered user an sms/e-mail inviting them to sync phone via USB cable to their ITunes account.
Registered user follows on screen prompts (With registered sim onboard) until they see the “Congrat's .........” message
The registered sim can now be removed and replaced it with a sim from another supported network.
Caveat with some of the Virtual networks such as Giff-gaff /Virgin/Lebara etc........ you may have difficulty getting SMS/MMS to send due to the APN settings being wrong (They default to the actual network sighted).
Some of those Sims may give you access to a hidden menu feature that allows you to set the correct APN manually however others don't.
Those that don't may mean you only receive SMS/MMS messages.
