Using Preview to create a PDF with scanner

Hello,
I just installed my new printer and want to create PDFs. I know my HP software can do it for me, but can Preview create PDF files as well? It would be similar to Adobe Prof. for Windows where I can create it through that software. Thanks!

Preview can open PDF, and can combine multiple PDFs into one file, or remove individual pages from a PDF.
On the Mac OS, PDFs can be created from any program through the print dialog box.
Select Print form the file menu. Instead of click print in the dialog box that appears, select PDF from the pup up list in the lower left corner of the dialog box.
Instead of printing a hardcopy, it'll create a PDF file.
Preview can then open the PDF. To merge PDFs, make sure you have the sidebar open in preview. Drag/drop individual PDFs to/from the sidebar will add/removed pages from the original document

  • Creating a .pdf with different page views

I'm tyring to create a .pdf with different page views.  For example as the viewer goes through the .pdf some pages I would like viewed as "single page view" and others "two page view".  Is this possible?   I'm working with Adobe Acrobate Pro.  Thanks for any suggestions.

It's possible to use the Page Open actions to trigger a view mode change but it's messy - if the user tries to override them because they prefer to zoom in, etc. then they'll get very annoyed when things keep resetting.
To create a Page Open action, open the thumbnails panel, right-click on a page, choose Page Properties, then the Actions tab. You can use the Execute a Menu Item tool to fire one of the view modes.

  • Create a Pdf with a job...

    Hi!
    A very simple question!
I have to create 9.000 pdf every month, with data present on db.
I don't want to press a button to create every pdf.
Especially, I can't keep busy the Client for all the execution.
I need to schedule this work, in every way.
Possibly, I don't want to install Report Designer on the server. But Report designer is installed on Client.
I need something like to schedule in a job the "Run product" command... but withouth the product!!!
    Is it possible?
I accept also something of different, like to schedule in windows, but.... it has to be free. Totally free.
I know how to create a pdf with reports designer, but it has to be batch and the Client has to work normally.
    Server
    System: Windows 2003
    Database: Oracle 10g
    Development
Forms Designer: 4.5.10.6.0 (yes, I know: it is very old!)
Reports Designer: 2.5.7.4.3 (yes, I know: it is older!)
    Thank you from Italy,
    Margherita

It's doable using a windows/Unix/Linux scheduler running the report as a batch.
You may find your version's help text. Here goes the 6i's....
To run a report using a command file:
1     Create a text file using a word processor of your choice.
2     Type ORACLE_HOME\BIN\RWRUN60, followed by the report name and desired arguments.
3     If you ran the report in batch mode, and sent the output to a file (DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=filename BATCH=YES), open or print the file to verify the output.

  • How to create a pdf with the correct size?

    Hi there
How do I create a pdf with the correct size? I created several albums and ordered them. Now I want to backup the album and I know how to create a pdf, but when I choose A5 it's to big, when I create my own size it's not the size it should be. The original (made with iphoto) is a small size album 200x150mm. But when I create my own size (200x150) it shows some white borders.
Does anybody have some tips ore workarounds?
    Yuri
    Imac
    Iphoto 11 (9.4.2)

Books are designed for and printed on 8.5 x 11 inch stock, US Letter size.  You shouldn't have to select any size.  While viewing the All Pages mode in the book Control-Click on the page and select Save Book as PDF from the contextual menu.
That will create a PDF that iPhoto uses to upload and print.  Not all pages will be the same size as the dust jacket will be present in it's full size, 32.8 inches x 8.91 inches:
If you want a PDF that's designed for your own printing the type Command+P while viewing the All Pages window.  In the first print window click on the PDF button.  It will present you with a contextual menu where you should select Save as PDF.  That will give you an 8.5 x 11 PDF file with all pages the same size.

  • Creating interactive PDFs with page turn, issue with PDF

I recently watch a video on adobe tv titled "indesign : creating interactive PDFs with page turn and flash animation". The video was great, simple to follow with great results, I was able to create a document with interactive page turns that was viewable in a web browser, the next step was to then create the same document but be able to view it in PDF format. I followed the above mentioned video and everything worked apart from one issue once I exported the indesign file out as an interactive PDF it opened up in adobe acrobat pro with no problem but when I went to turn the page it would lag and slow down to the point were it was almost impossible to turn the page, the page turning didn't seem to flow as well as when viewing it in a web browser. The document I am creating is a catalogue and I am happy with the interactive version for the web but I am looking at putting the catalogue on a CD/ USB and need it to open and work with PDF, it would be a great help if anyone could advise me on the reason why the interactive page turning runs so poor in PDF format. I am currently running on a very powerful computer with the adobe CS5 master suit.
Any help would be much appreciated

The page flipping is an SWF effect, so essentially you now have an entire SWF embedded inside a PDF.
If you forget about this garish effect (which, I can guarantee you, by next year will be "so 2012") you can send out a standard PDF which can be easily viewed on otherwise sub-standard computers, and using very straightforward PDF readers, such as the ones currently available for the iPad and its clones.

  • When I use Preview to view a PDF in Hebrew, I cannot search in Hebrew nor copy or paste instead I get gibberish

When I use Preview to view a PDF in Hebrew, I cannot search in Hebrew nor copy or paste instead I get gibberish.
Is there a way to fix this?

Do you have an example that someone could look at? I wouldn't be surprised if most PDFs you found were gibberish. PDF is a print format and is really only designed to be printed out and read by a human. Constructing a PDF with real Hebrew Unicode would be a rare find. Here is one example I found by passing the Hebrew word for "Hebrew" in Hebrew in Google. This is a valid PDF. I have no idea what it says.

When I create a PDF with Adobe Reader XI, it wont take the links behind the images. Sometimes he does, mostly not.. Whats the solution? The links in text do work!

    Hello,
How can I give a answer back in the discussion on Adobe.com?
    I don’t see any link?
    1.      We have a subscription.
    2.      Im converting a newsletter from the web to PDF.
    3.      Sometimes I put a weblink behind the image in the newsletter. Most of the time PDF wont take the links behind the image.
    Only the tekstlinks are OK.

  • Using BAPI_PO_CREATE to create a PO with reference to another PO.

Hi, I am using BAPI_PO_CREATE to create a PO with reference to another PO, in the po_header_add_data, I have done this: po_head_add-our_ref = p_ebeln.
                 CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_PO_CREATE'
                       EXPORTING
                            po_header             = po_head
                            po_header_add_data    = po_head_add

                            po_items              = poitem1
                            return                = return.
But when I have created the PO, in the our reference field, it is space? Why? If I want to fill the the our reference  with the another PO, how should I do?

  • Create a PDF with 8 1/2 x 11 pages and 11 x 17 pages

Is it possible in Acrobat 10 to create one PDF with 8 1/2 x 11 pages and 11 x 17 pages? I have two PDFs, one with 8 1/2 x 11 pages and the other with 11 x 17 pages. I want to merge the two into one PDF and be able to print the 8 1/2 x 11 pages as 8 1/2 x 11 and the 11 x 17 pages as 11 x 17 from the same document.

File > Combine is the tool.
or, Open the documents side by side; open their pages panels; drag page icons from one document to the other.
Choose Paper Source PDF by Page Size allows different size papers to be selected for the printer, assuming it supports multiple paper sizes.

  • Can I create a PDF with form controls using JAVA?

I have a web site running on linux (Ubuntu). I'm programming in Java. Presently I use open office to create PDFs with form controls (checkboxes, lists and text fields). I'd like to be able to create in my program (Java) with form controls. JasperReports is not good because I don't see a way to create form controls. Help!!!

I am not sure what this has to do with the Acrobat SDK, as we don't have a version of SDK for Linux (or Java).

  • Created a PDF with LiveCycle, I can open it using my Adobe Pro, but my friends can't...

    Hi,
I created a PDF file using LiveCycle and I can easily open it with my Adobe Acrobat Pro on my laptop. However, my friends couldn't on their laptop. Is this even possible? Is it because they are using an older version of Adobe?

Are you talking about LiveCycle Designer? Which version, and what did you set the compatibility setting to: http://forms.stefcameron.com/2009/02/11/careful-with-form-compatibility-settings/
It would help a lot to know what version of Reader (or something else?) your friends are using.

  • Acrobat 10 crashes when "create pdf with scanner" command attempted.

    Hello
For many months I have employed Acrobat 10 and an Epson V700 photo scanner successfully on a win 7 64 platform.  I employ the create pdf from scanner command, select the custom scan option and allow the Epson scanning application to launch.  Again this has worked without a problem.
For over a week, however, just as I am about to hand off scanning to the Espson scanning app, Acrobat crashes!!!
I have followed other threads in the Adobe Community with total reinstall of Acrobat 10, bcdedit command line commands, and a repair process through control panel of Acrobat 10.  Nothing has worked.
I now have captured the process crash file with Sysinternals procdump.exe  employing the c:\temp>prodump -e -ma Acrobat.exe c:\temp\01.dmp that I found on a similar Adobe Community thread.  The file is over 154 mb!
Please advise me on how to provide diagnostic data and steps to take to recover this extremely important function of my Acrobat 10!
    Thank you

  • Create a pdf with no background, is it possible?

I'm trying to have some t shirts made up for my company, with a simple text on the front.  I used Pages, saved as a pdf then converted the file to a jpeg.  The problem is that when I upload the file I get a white block rather than just the text.  I had assumed that if I didn't have a background there would be, well, no background.  Like when making web sites, right?
Clearly that isn't the case here and I wondered if anyone knew if it is possible to create a few lines of text in pages and only save the text rather than the page it's printed on.
I don't have other programs for this or know how to use other programs, like Photoshop or stuff like that, though I do have Word.
I can't use the t shirt company's text feature because I have particular line and letter spacing I need.
Any help would be appreciated, even it's just to tell me it can't be done.
    Thanks!
    Mark

As Peggy has pointed out jpegs do not have transparent background. A png file will pixelate your text but can have a transparent background.
Best is to make a transparent background pdf by creating the text to your liking in a TextBox in Pages which by default has a transparent background, then click on the text box and copy it.
Switch to Preview.app and go command n, then save that Preview file as a pdf.
    That has a transparent background.
Do Not export or print to pdf from Pages itself, which has a white background behind all objects.
