Using PS Elements 10 and MUST access Nikon .NEF Raw images from Nikon D60 and D7100 cameras.

Previously installed update for D7100, but it's no longer recognizing the Nikon .NEF files.  What's the solution other than buying a new version? There are important images that need to be converted to JPEG for upload to a newsletter that will be published this week.  Thanks.

I am using Windows 7.  I think that the best path might be a third party conversion program.  Do you have a recommendation?
Thanks,

Can anyone advise me when Lightroom 5 will be update to accept RAW images from Nikon D750?

Thanks just opened up Lightroom and got the update message, I'm certain when I opened up on Monday it wasn't there.
    Fingers crossed just downloading now.
    Thanks for the response.

  • NEF RAW Files from Nikon D7000

I have just bought a nice shiny new Nikon D7000 and set it up to use Nikon NEF RAW files.
I've been processing RAW files on Elements for about 7 years now but when I downloaded from my new camera I was informed that the filese were corrupt or not acceptable to PSE 8. My D200 had no such problems.
How do I get over this?
    Andy

Open the editor and click help à Updates
You should be able to update to Adobe Camera Raw 6.2 with PSE8 which will cover the D7000
In case of difficulty Andy, go directly to the ACR site for manual update.

  • How to upload RAW images from Nikon 600 into Elements 11?

Hi recently purchased Elements 11 and cannot load Raw images from also recently purchased Nikon D600. Is there a download and if so where is it and how does it work?
    Many thanks in advance

Launch the Editor and click Help >>Updates
    Install Camera Raw v7.2
PSE11 ships with v 7.1 and needs bringing up to date to get preliminary support for the D600

  • How to view and edit raw images from Nikon d610?

Just bought a Nikon D610 and was surprised that the raw images are not supported by Aperture.  Thought they would be the same as the D600.  Any easy way to fix this?

Any easy way to fix this?
    Not really.
You might import raw+jpeg pairs, while you are waiting for the raw support, and set Aperture to use the jpeg as original file. That can be switched back later. Or import only the jpeg, but keep the raw on the card and add them later.
Another possibility - use te software that came with your camera to develope the raw and import tiffs to Aperture, or use Adobe's dng converter to convert the raw to dng and work with the dng files.

  • PSE 7 Open Raw Image from Nikon 5100

I have tried to install a bunch of different plug in's however I was only sucessful with http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4582 ... Unfortunately, it is not compatible with Nikon 5100.  Is there another plug in update that I need to install to be able to view and edit my raw images from a Nikon 5100 in PSE 7?
    Thanks.

No, there isn't. You either have to upgrade to the new Photoshop Elements, or else download the latest DNG converter and create digital negative copies of your images. Those can be opened with the Camera Raw that you already have. There will be no more updates for Photoshop Elements 7, and that includes the Camera Raw plug-in that is compatible with it.
Of course, another alternative would be to add Lightroom to your arsenal. It would give you a lot more options for working with your raw images. But that is a decision that you will have to make.

  • Converting RAW images from Nikon D7100

My PSE11 will not recognize/convert RAW images from new Nikon D7100 despite trying to download PSE update.  Have had NO prior problem with RAW using D80.  Help!

When you saying "trying to download PSE update" do you mean you're trying to do it manually? The best way is editor>help>updates. (Assuming this isn't the mac app store version, which is a whole 'nother story.)

  • Transferring NEF (RAW) images from elements 9 to elements11?

How do I tranfer NEF (RAW) files, images, from my Elements 9 catalog to my recently purchased Elements 11 catalog?

You can simply convert your PSE9 catalog during the installation of PSE11. For raw files your editing work is contained in the XMP file which sits next to the NEF in the folder. PSE11 has a new raw engine (ACR7) and if you wish to preserve your previous edits do not convert to PV2012. An explanation mark usually flashes up when you open a previously edited raw file. I leave mine set to Process Version 2010. But for all new shoots I use PV2012 as the new highlights/shadows/blacks/whites sliders are much more powerful.

  • Lightroom 4.4 will not import NEF RAW files from Nikon D610

I shoot a Nikon D800 and have never had any issues importing my NEF RAW files into Lightroom. I borrowed a friend's Nikon D610 and shot a bunch of NEF RAW files. I downloaded them to my computer the same way I always do. For some reason, Lightroom will not import them. The error message is: "The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom. (455)"
My Lightroom 4.4 is current and up-to-date.
Bottom line: I have a bunch of RAW photo files I can't import into Lightroom for editing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

    >Just curious -- is there some difference between the NEF files created on my Nikon D800 (which are easily imported into Lightroom) and the NEF files created on the Nikon D610 (which are not easily imported into Lightroom)
Lightroom 5 supports the D610. There is a big difference between nef from the D610 and older cameras. They were shot with a camera that Adobe hadn't profiled yet when LR 4.4 was out. Otherwise, if you hack the nef files to read that they were shot on a D600, LR 4.4 will read them, but I would caution against doing that as the sensor is slightly different on the D610 than on the D600, resulting in differences in color rendering. Simplest is as dj says to convert the nets to dng (which embeds the newer profiles in the file) or to upgrade to LR 5.

  • CS6 not recognising NEF (RAW) files from Nikon D800 [was:NEF files]

CS6 not recognising NEF (RAW) files - Nikon D800 is compatible - not sure why - can anyone help with this query

Well… I just don't see the wisdom or prudence in updating to 7.1 when 8.3 is available for CS6.

  • Can't open Raw images from Nikon D3200

I can not open RAW files taken on Nikon 3200
HW & SW: Nikon 3200: Apple MacBook Pro OS v. 10.8.5, Adobe Photoshop Elements 11, Adobe Lightroom 5, Adobe DNG Converter
I had a Nikon D60 and used a removable card to store images. No problem.
One week ago, I bought a Nikon D3200 and still use the same memory cards I had used with the D60.
I have taken about 100 pictures in Aperture, Shutter and Automatic mode, all in RAW format.
Am using Nikon Transfer to import the images from the card to the MacBook.
Photoshop will open JPEG images captured from the D3200 in the JPEG format, but not those captured in RAW format.
I can preview the images on the D3200, but when I download to the Mac, the images do not open in Photoshop Elements 11, or in Adobe DNG 8.2, or in Adobe Lightroom 5.
Photoshop failure  message is: “Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.”
DNG Converter failure message is: “The source folder does not contain any supported camera raw files.”
Adobe Lightroom failure message is: “The files are not recognized by the raw format support in Lightroom.”
I have downloaded most recent versions of Adobe Camera Raw and Adobe DNG. I have also uninstalled and then reinstalled Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.  When I try to open or import the images, the same failure messages occur.
So far Adobe products are failing and am hoping there is a solution.

For pse 8/LR 3 you would need the 8.3 Dng Converter to convert yout Nikon D3200
files to dng copies that can be open/inported by pse 8 or LR3
Since the camera raw version required is 7.1/LR4.1 or later and pse 8 (only up to camera raw 6.2) can't use that camera raw version, the dng converter is needed.

  • Opening Nikon NEF Raw images in photoshop CS2

I have installed the camera raw and when I try to open a raw file, it tells me that it cannot open the document because it is not the right kind of document. What do I need to do?

Make sure you have the correct version of ACR (or the DNG converter*) for your model of camera.
    See http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407111.html
    * you need this if the ACR version required for your camera is later than the last one that worked with CS2 (which was 3.x).

Either upgrade to Lr 4.x, or convert your D600 files to DNG, which Lr 3 can process.
