Using PS Elements 11 on stand alone pc.

I have just purchased a boxed copy of PS Elements 11 & Premier Elements 11, to be used on a pc which has no internet connectivity.
There is a solid reason why this PC cannot be connected to the internet, it is used by vulnerable adults with autism and learning difficulties.
I have been able to use most functions but it hangs if the "Places" tab is clicked. Whilst I realise that the Places function relies upon an internet connection, I cannot prevent it from being clicked and as such, I need to find a way to use this software completely offline, without it locking up.
Does anyone know if this is going to be possible?

How to use matlab codes in a stand alone application without matlab license?

I am not an expert in programming and i don't know about C++, i have a program using matlab codes and now i want to transfer it to a computer without matlab license. I've read something about using DLL, but i think i have to know C++ programming to wrtie "WRAPPER" and add some lines to the program, now transformed in C++.
I just would llike to know that really isn't any other way to integrate matlab for a stand-alone application? i read somethings in Matlab help about using COM (Common Object Model ) but i am not sure that labview works with it, and also about runtime engine and "mglinstaller.exe".
my labview version is 8, matlab is 2006, and the real problem is using matlab codes in another computer without matlab license.

Hello Amir,
There is a MatLab script node in the LabVIEW function palette (see screenshot of the help topic) but as you can see this structure is not in the "Base LabVIEW", you might need to purchase the FDS (Full Developpment System) or the PDS (Professionnal Developpment System) of LabVIEW...

i don't think you could ever protect the jsp code and it wouldn't do you much good to bother anyway, since anyone with a browser can just "View Source" and see all the HTML on the page anyway.
the only thing you would want to protect is your java source. you don't have to distribute the .java files with your application, just the .class's. you could try and obfuscate the .class files, but a determined person will always be able to reverse it back to a .java program and read it. it would take a bit of work and knowhow though, so figure out how smart the consumer is going to be and if they will be able to figure out how to reverse .class files back to .java

It's stand alone but will compliment Lightroom e.g do the things that Lightrooom can't like text, layers, masks etc.

- Does it disable the cpu/internal graphics chip to reduce power consumption?
- Is it wired separately so that the monitor part can function independently from the rest of the system?

For most uses the answer is no, however if someone is using another 2011 iMac or 2011 MacBook Pro and connect with a Thunderbolt connection that should work.

Using telnet sockets and running stand alone

Hi all,
I'm writing a Flex application that uses sockets to
communicate through Telnet / port 23 with AV control devices over
the local network. The target is to run the application locally (so
not from a web server) from a PC.
The application works fine from my development machine.
However when I copy the bin folder to the target machine, the
telnet connections refuse to open. Actually, it appears that
wherever I copy the bin folder (including to a different location
on my machine) the connections won't open. Simple opening the html
file from the bin folder on my machine works perfectly.
Anyone have any idea what could be wrong or what I can do to
fix this. Any input would be greatly appeciated.

Migrating stand alone programs to web based application

Hi,
I have a small application consisting of .class files. I created these using Swing components and it's based on Client/ server model where it accesses Oracle Database.
I want to deploy these programs in Java App Server so that it can be accessed thru web browser.
Please tell me how to do it.

Migration is not really a term to use to for converting a stand alone application to a web application. Unless of course again you are prepared to turn it into an applet.
The flow and control of a web application are entirely different from a stand alone app. You will not be able to reuse Swing GUI's from a web server. I don't know how to make that any clearer.
Hopefully you have a good design for your existing application and you can relatively easily reuse your existing business logic components.

Windows Media Player ActiveX not playing image, but WMP stand alone application does. Why?

I use my Windows Media Player v11 with additional codec to play mp4 files (mp4 are not supported by default with WMP 11, so I had to install a codec). It works fine in the stand alone application, but when I use the ActiveX control in NI, it does not use the codec and I get only the sound... no image. I thought the ActiveX was simply an interface to the same core application used by NI and the stand alone media player. And if it is the same core, it should use the same codec. What am I missing?

I have a tip for you. If you download Quicktime 7(QT), you may select the QT activex player(see picture). It plays mp4 and looks better. And QT is free so it should not any problem. Try and see if it do you any good
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

Can WLS act as a standa-alone webserver

Newbie question here.
Sorry for the naive question, but can WLS 8.1 act as a standalone webserver.
Could it serve up just a static html page, or does it only serve web applications?

Hi Vetrivel,
You can always use cProject system as a stand alone. In this case you can't carry out accounting ( No FICO Integrated), You need to create business partner in cProject (No HR integration), You can manage document in cProjects and no SAP DMS integration.
By using cProject system stand alone you can do only Project planning and execution.

TREX Admin Tool (Stand-Alone)

I am new to the forums, so if I am posting in a wrong area please let me know so I can correct this; thanks in advance for your patience.
Now the question. I am interested in using the TREX Admin Tool (Stand-Alone) to manage our multiple TREX 7.0 and TREX 7.1 systems. Can anyone tell me where I go in the market place to download this tool and any links to the documentation on this tool.

Hi Nathan,
the Python based TREX admin tool (stand-alone) is part of the TREX 7.0/7.1 installation. You do not need to download it seperately, when you have downloaded and installed TREX. Note that also a transaction TREXADMIN exist by which you can start the ABAP based version of the TREX admin tool in the SAP System if you are using TREX by an ABAP application via RFC.

Compressor as Stand Alone Product

Can you use Apple Compressor as a stand alone product without purchasing Final Cut Pro X?
I would like to use it to convert MTS files to a useable format for iMovie and Final Cut Pro Express.

To add to Russ. I second that you would most likely have to buy clipwrap ino order to get them to a quicktime format that compressor could see. But ClipWrap will also do conversions for you. I know it will let me convert to pro-res but if you don't have a version of FCP that might not be availble but it does have Apple Intermidiate Codec which works just fine in iMovie and Final Cut Express. So to answer your question, yes it works as a stand alone app and great at doing its thing as long as quicktime can play the file your trying to convert. But for the type of files you want to convert you need to use ClipWrap and since it will do the converson for you, you don't have to have Compressor. Now Compressor will give you more control of your final output but start with ClipWrap see if it get the job done for you. If your happy great! If you need more control then purchace Compressor.

Using a Mac Mini Server as a traditional stand alone desktop

Hello all, currently I have a late 2008 model 17" MacBook pro, Time Capsule, Apple TV and an Iphone 3GS and Ipod Traditional. I would like to add a desktop system to coordinate all of these items, to be the centerpiece is you will, in my home. I'm interested in buying a mac mini, I began to do research however and saw the Mac Mini Server which has greater memory capacity 4GB vs 2GB RAM, and dual 500Gb vs the standard Mac Mini which has one at 320GB. I would like to take advantage of these upgrades as I'm a writer and will be constantly on the web for work as well as likely keep a lot of items on the hard drive.
However I noticed the Mac Mini server utilizes Mac OSX snow leopard SERVER as opposed to the user grade Mac OSX. *My question is if the Mac Mini Server with MAC OSX server can still be used as a stand alone desktop, connecting it to a spare LCD television I have and a mac wireless keyboard/mouse?*
I'm aware that unlike the other mac mini and imacs it does not come with ilife and other pre-installed software, and *I want to know if it's still possible to purchase after market and install said software utilizing them in the traditional manor?*

Let me clear up a misperception that you have. Both the Mac mini and the Mac mini Server have a capacity to address 8 GB of RAM. There are two SO-DIMM slots in each model. The mac mini comes preconfigured by Apple with 2 GB of RAM (2 x 1 GB). The mini Server comes preconfigured with 4 GB of RAM (2 x 2 GB). You can buy and install yourself up to 8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB).
You can even install Mac OS X Snow Leopard client, which will meet your needs a bit better than Server, now that folks have figured out how to do it;

And yes you can buy and install iLife, and pretty much everything else that you want to include in your kit. Either model of mini works fine with wireless keyboards and mouses. If your LCD TV has an HDMI port, then a simple HDMI to HDMI cable would be the simplest manner to connect it to the mini.

Stand alone exe errors using report generation vi's

I have a stand alone application that uses some report generation vi's. I have added the _wordsub.llb as a support file. In the main program I have told the report generations vi's where to find the _wordsub.llb so it can load the dynamic vi's as needed. The problem is when I run the stand-alone executable I get an open refernce error for one of the dynamic vi's that says that vi is not executable. But when I reconfigure the executable and include that vi as a dymaically loaded vi in addition to the _wordsub.llb, the stand alone works error free. Any suggestions?

It really depends on what version of office you are using. Some methods have different set of parameters or even different names, labview does not adjust them accordingly, even though the code might execute but it will fail during build process. You must reselect the methods manually in order to build the executable. Most time you need to build different executables for each office version.

I have a BT home Hub 3 with standard BT broadband(no infinity), how do I set up an Apple AirPort Extreme without a stand alone modem? Can I use my current Home Hub

I want to use an Apple AirPort Extreme as my home router but at present I have standard BT broadband using the BT Home hub 3. Can I connect them in some way so I don't need to buy a stand alone modem.
IS THIS POSSIBLE???
1. Would Apple AirPort Express be better and easier?
2. What modem would be suitable if I can't do it any other way?

No, if you leave the wireless function off on the 2WIRE. If you do want the utilize the wireless on the 2WIRE and the AirPort Extreme, then you want to keep them physically separated by 6-8 feet, or a few meters.

No, if the AirPort Express will provide enough range for the network.

Yes, if both of them are configured to operate in Bridge Mode. If you are using the "wizard" setup utility in AirPort Utility 6.x, the wizard will do this for you automatically.

You can have as many AirPort Express devices (or AirPort Extreme devices) as you want, as long as each has an Ethernet connection back to the switch.
