Using ps2/usb keyboard adaptor

I have an old ps2 keyboard I'm trying to connect to my laptop (Pavilion g6) but cannot find how to make the bios accept ps2 connections.
Windows (7) fails to recognise the hardware.
There is no advance options for the bios where I might expect to see the option for ps2.
Resetting the bios defaults (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Notebook-HP-Pavilion-g6-2324sl-...)  doesn't solve it or apparently change anything.
Is there anyway I can avoid replacing the keyboard?

Hi,
How do you connect the keyboard to your G6 ? Have you tried:

or for keyboard and mouse:

  • I am using a USB keyboard and everytime I wake the iMac from sleep the keyboard will not respond unless I unplug and replug the keyboard. I am using a mid-2010 iMac with OSX 10.6. Any help would be appreciated.

I am currently using a USB keyboard (PC Model) and everytime I wake the computer from sleep the keyboard no longer responds unless I unplug and replug it. The USB mouse I am using works fine with no issues and I have already gone through the prompt to identify the keyboard in the settings. If anyone know of a setting I can use to permenantly enable the keyboard so I no longer have to unplug and replug it that would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Your 2010 MBP would be able to handle Yosemite, but I would strongly suggest that you get the current problem sorted out before trying to upgrade to Yosemite. I'd also recommend another backup that isn't created by Time Machine if you are thinking of upgrading. SuperDuper and CarbonCopyCloner can make bootable clones of hard drives. If you clone your existing system to a fresh external drive, you would be able to boot from that drive and recover quickly in the event that your Yosemite upgrade didn't work out. Time Machine backups are not 100% reliable.
It's possible that, if your internal HD is the one that shipped with your MBP in 2010, it may be failing. If it keeps needing repairs, that is probably a sign that it is approaching the end of its useful life.
Have you run Disk Utility's Repair tool on the external drive as well?
I mentioned the hub because some people have reported here that attaching their USB 3 drives through a USB 2 hub solved some disconnection problems. A good-quality powered USB 2 hub won't cost much.
My most recent brush with random disconnections involved a nice new OWC drive enclosure. I used the cable that came with the drive, but the drive kept disconnecting. Using a different cable solved the problem. You wouldn't expect that what appeared to be a high quality cable would be a problem straight out of the box, but it was.

  • Satellite Pro A200: Wake-up over keyboard using an USB keyboard

is there a way to turn on the laptop while keeping its lid closed using a USB keyboard. if yes what is the key combination

Hmmm I dont know if you can wake up the notebook if the lid is closed but as far as I know it should be possible to wake the notebook using a keyboard itself.
The Toshiba HWSetup was preinstalled on the Vista OS. In this tool you should find an option called: wake-up on keyboard.
This can be found in the keyboard tab and you need to set it to Enable.
Furthermore please enable the Legacy USB support. This option can be found also in the HWSetup under USB tab.

  • Sharing one ethernet cable with two macs using a USB Ethernet Adaptor

I have two computers running Mac OS 10.6 but only one ethernet cable in my office. One ethernet cable goes from the wall to Mac #1. I have a cisco USB Ethernet Adaptor USB300M that I like to use as OUTGOING ethernet cable from Mac #1 to plug into Mac #2. Does anybody know how this works? Simply plugging it in does not work. Thanks for any suggestions!

If either of these computers is a Mac Pro (65 lb.) tower, all of which have two Ethernet jacks, Internet sharing is crisply supported with any additional Hardware. Cable the wall jack Ethernet to the first Ethernet port, then cable the second Ethernet port to the second Mac. Configuration is described in this article:

  • I keep getting a "can't find a wireless keyboard" message at start up, but I am using a usb keyboard.

I have an imac and at start up I get an error message saying "can't find wireless keyboard" and it tries looking for one via bluetooth.  Unfortunately I only have a usb keyboard, which doesn't seem to register.  I can't type my log in details in so I can't use my computer.  I have tried changing the usb port the keyboard is plugged in to, I have restarted, and I have tried an SMC re-boot.  The keyboard does work on another computer (the one I'm writing on), but I can't get it to register on the imac.  Any suggestions?

iMac from 2008 and I am pretty sure its 10.6.8, but not positive because now the computer won't even get past the grey apple screen.

  • Using Apple USB Keyboard Extension Cable for Power

I have a USB keyboard extension cable. Part number is 591-0079. Can I use that to extend the power cable for my iPad when it is plugged in? Can I also use it for my iPhone?
I wanted to check first to make sure because it predates the iPad and the iPhone.
    Thanks any advance.

So there won't be any problems transferring power through it? It will charge iPad and iPhone without any trouble?

  • Cannot use MIDI USB keyboard

I am trying to use a Novation USB keyboard that I have successfully used on 3 different macs before without any problems. But this new Macbook Amateur will NOT work with it at all. It is BEYOND annoying. I can see under the Apple System Profiler that the mac correctly identifies the hard ware, but no software can see it... Audio Midi Setup, Reason, Live, etc.
After 90 minutes with mac tech support, the final suggestion was to do an archive and install. Done. NO change. Thank you Apple for releasing yet another product that your customer base gets to beta test for you for free. No other company in the world could get away with this nonsense.

I'm seeing the same thing. What is working is the 'Current Program Number' mapping. This might seen as if it's one off, meaning that patch #1 = program change 0. You can either compensate for this when you set the range, or you can change the program number in the Attributes tab in the patch inspector (along the bottom when you have a patch selected).
Also, if you have a second you should use the Provide Mainstage Feedback link and report it.

  • How can I use a USB keyboard with my Macbook Pro?

My MBP will not recognize my brand new USB keyboard.
I have tried the keyboard on two other Macbook Air's and it works perfectly.
    My MBP:
    OS X Yosemite
    10.10.1
Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2013)
    2.4 GHz Core i5
    8GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Mac HD
    Graphics Intel Iris 1536 MB
Thoughts on how I can resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Greg

    Brenden,
    Thanks for the reply.
I've gone your suggestions in detail and the keyboard is still not working.
From what I can tell this is a known issue with Yosemite.

  • Can I use a usb bluetooth adaptor with mac pro which already has bluetooth?

    Hi All,
I have an early 2008 Mac Pro. I have a bluetooth sound device that I'd like to use across the other side of the house. The problem is that the in-built bluetooth transceiver is limited in area and i have a usb transceiver that has 15m broadcast range. Is there a way i can make my Mac Pro use the usb dongle and not the internal hardware..?

You can disable the internal bluetooth radio. As long as you have drivers for your USB Bluetooth adapter you should be able to use it.

    Hello envpanos,
Thank you for posting on Nokia Support Discussion.
USB OTG ( USB On The Go ) for the device is only for accessing your files from your flash drive. Using any other USB peripheral  devices is not fully supported by the said feature.

  • To anyone who uses a USB Keyboard

Can you give me some feedback on them? I'm thinking about getting the M-Audio Keystation 49e - USB Midi Keyboard for $99.00
I'd apprectiate any input that I could get!
    Thanks in advance,
    Danny

I love this keyboard as well! But honesly I feel like there is a very slight delay in the keyboard. This is not due to my system (dual 2.7 & 2.5gigs of ram) I just wish the repsonse time was a little bit faster and it would be fine. Most people wouldn't pick up on this... but if you've played alot of baby grands and expensive piano's its very easy to tell. Of course this is a just keyboard, but even most keyboard's have a quicker response time than this one.
I'm serious, I have a standard keyboard (with speakers built in) right beside my M-Audio midi controller and the standard keyboard has a slight faster response time... for me its just enough to drive me crazy!
Most friends who come over and play the keyboard - the first thing they say is... "oh, there's a very little delay"
Could anybody guess what the problem might be? mabye its the fact that its a $100 keyboard? Or even mabye usb? Would a midi port provide a faster response? Help me out guys! thanks

  • Can a USB Keyboard/Barcode reader be used with the USB port on the CRio

Is it possible to use a USB Keyboard or Barcode reader with the USB port on the CRio, I know you can use this port with a USB memory device, but what about other devices?
I have a project that requires that all hardware elements be connected to the controller and use the HMI purely for display,
    anybody any ideas??

    Hi kmoyna,
The standard CompactRIO range's USB host ports are not suitable for standard USB devices like keyboards or barcode readers - they are intended only for use of mass storage devices. From your description, it seems your project's requirements would be best met by the newer models, cRIO-9081 or cRIO-9082. These two units have Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) and allow the direct connection of a monitor and standard USB devices. We now also have similar stand-alone CompactDAQ models running WES7 - cDAQ 9139.
I would recommend calling into your local branch to discuss your project further with one of our engineers. If you're in the UK, it's 01635 523 545 - or view contact details for other branches.

The reason i flash is for compatibility issues
If an issue is noted, now that you have found the forum, before a flash, many times answers may point to something other than a UEFI/BIOS problem. Anyway, if you have the Intel ME driver, chipset driver, and USB Renesas 3.0 driver installed, there are no UEFI/BIOS settings other than enabling all the USB 'enable' options. In this situation, when a keyboard did work, and then didn't with a flash to a newer release UEFI/BIOS, MSI needs to be made aware of this so they can address it in an upcoming release. Again, if there are no compatibility issues experienced with an existing/older UEFI/BIOS version, there is no practical reason for flashing. It is not a driver.
    If and when a flash is required, please use the forum's USB flasher found here at this link;
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=108079.0
After a flash, it is also recommended to do a full battery removed CMOS clear and reset.

  • KT4 Ultra: FSB Setting for 2400+? and USB Keyboard not working

I just picked up a KT4 and an Athlon 2400+ - What FSB setting should i pick to make the processor detect as a 2400 (currently w/ a setting of 133, it's detecting as a 2000+ 1.67ghz when it should be 2ghz.) - Is there some setting other than the FSB that i need to change?
Also, when i try to use a USB keyboard, it doesn't work after POST.  I am able to use the keyboard to change the bios settings etc... but once POST is done, the keyboard doesn't respond, and every time you press a key, the numlock light flashes quickly. - This also causes all the other USB devices (mice, etc...) to stop working. - Everything is fine if i plug the same keyboard in via PS2, but unfortunatly, this isn't a good long term solution because i use a USB KVM switch.
    Any suggestions welcome!
    TIA

Ok, the FSB thing is fixed, thanks for the help.
As far as the kvm being incompatable, i thought of that, and tried plugging the keyboard directly into a usb port and got the same results.
I have tried just about every setting i think would relate in the bios and none have seemed to help. ;(

  • USB Keyboard prob

I have just found out that I can't use a USB Keyboard to access the BIOS or select the OS on a dual boot Mega 865 PRO. I have checked the BIOS settings and USB legacy support is turned on. Does anyone have a solution to the problem?
    TIA
    Duncan

I've tied everything. I am starting to think it's a problem with this particular model of keyboard (Logitech gamers), but I don't have another USB KB to try. Im using a cheap PS2 KB to access the bios and then chage over to the Logitech when finished
