Using PSE 8 to Reset iPhoto Resolution

In order to print a book with photos I need to reset the photo resolution to 300 dpi or ppi. The photos are in my iPhoto library.
In the past I could send the photos to PSE for editing via iPhoto> Preferences>In Application>PSE. Now my only choice for editing is iPhoto or Aperture.
Is there a workaround for this or another way to reset the resolution of an iPhoto photo?
Thank you

You don't need to do any resetting.  As long as you use the largest version of the photos possible they resolution will be automatically set.

  • Using PSE 11 with iPhoto

A previous discussion recommended selecting "Save Over Current File"  in PSE Preferences to save PSE edited photos to iPhoto; should I check "Save As to Original Folder," or not?  I'm ending up with the original and the edited photo as two separate photos and would prefer to see only the edited photo with a "Revert to Original" option in iPhoto, rather than having to "hide" originals and look for them later.

  • How to reset default resolution on port not in use ?

got an 8" tft/lcd and was playing around with different resolutions on my cube (geforce 2mx) and hit one that was too high and tft went black with no return to previous resolution.
unplugged tft restarted cube, replugged tft no change. reset pram and nvram, no change.
tft works fine on my pismo... my cinema display workes fine on other cube port (independently).
is ther a way to reset vga resolution while using cinema display on 10.3.9 ?
    or trash vga preferences ?
    (geforce mx2 card)
    thanks.

Booting from a CD (with the port you want to reset active) does not use the resolution stored on your Hard drive, and generally defaults to safer lower resolutions.
If using Mac OS 9, you can then go to the Hard Drive and discard the Display Preferences.
If using Mac OS X, you may find that preference in:
    <your_id>/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.preference.displays.<your Mac's ethernet id>.plist

Wanting to use Photoshop CS6 to open images directly from iPhoto 11.
Using OSX10.8.2 and iPhoto 11.  Just installed Photoshop CS6 and want to open
images directly from iPhoto.    Before I installed PS I was not able to edit photos
in iPhoto 11.  Nothing happens when I click on ‘edit‘ it is blank.
And now it will not work using Photoshop CS6 either.
From Help Center I have gone to iPhoto/Preferences/ Advanced and chosen Photoshop CS6  to Edit Photos but then cannot find an 'Open' to click? Perhaps this is the problem?
When I select a photo in iPhoto and click the Edit button - nothing happens.
    Please advise. Glenys

This may be of help to you:
Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto

I tried to export photos from my macbook to my iMac about a week ago using a firewire. Didn't have much luck with that but I am now getting the above subject error message when I try to open iPhoto on my macbook. Is there a way to reset iPhoto? Something must have been come from my iMac to the macbook even though I was trying to do the reverse, any help would be appreciated. I travel a lot for work and take a ton of pictures and now I can't download them on my macbook.
    TIA!
    Frank

OK, so I was and am a fool because I did not set up any backups, I'm really not that techy of a person. I have tried to upgrade but it is not working on the version of the mac OS my macbook is on, 10.5.8. I have tried to install the download available for the version of iPhoto that my macbook is currently stating, 7.1.5 2002-2008.
I would love to restore a library if I can figure out how. Once the error message box pops up, above subject is the error message, the only option I have is to quit. I am soooooo lost.
I do have aperture 2 downloaded on my macbook but it is a pain to burn on to cd's and I cannot transfer correctly to Facebook.
I even tried to use the "Everything else" CD that came with my iMac and the only thing that happened was the CD was ejected. Any other suggestions? I think I covered why I can't do any of the 3 suggestions listed
    Thanks again!

The iBook does not have a backup (PRAM) battery. It only has the main battery and a small capacitor which maintains the settings long enough to do a battery swap. If the battery is dead, what you are seeing can happen.
If the battery is not a problem (or even if it is), you could try resetting the PMU and see if that helps.

  • PSE 9 Loss of iPhoto save

iPhoto allows one to edit a photo in an external editor.I previous versions of PSE one could save the edited photo in iPhoto by just selecting save from the file menu. The iPhoto library seems to handle this without a problem. So I used iPhoto as my organizer and PSE as my editor. This option seem to be lost in PSE 9. Anyone know how to get this functionality back? Using the adobe organizer with iPhoto does not seem to work.

As with the previous poster in this thread, you have linked to the wrong file in the PSE folder. There are two files labeled Photoshop Elements. You want the top one, which has no number and no little arrow on the icon's corner. The one below it is an alias for the welcome screen (which is where you currently have iphoto pointed). Set up iphoto to use this one:

  • Resetting the resolution on a powerbook

Hi there, I was wondering if someone knows how to reset the resolution on a powerbook. On my 17" 1.33ghz it comes up in displays 800x600 and I have lots of other resolutions to choose from but the original 1440x900 isn't there(probably removed by the previous owner). Does anybody know how to add this resolution so I can choose it as I think that this will fix my powerbook. I know that you need to go into system /library/ extensions but when I click on the ati files to open it always asks me to choose a program to open the file with and I don't know what to choose, which exact file to choose and how to amend and save it. There must be some apple geniuses out there that know how to do this.
Mabey there is a program (shareware/freeware) that I can install to do this I just haven't found one yet. I know I might sound foolish to try all of this but I dont want to give up on this problem just yet without putting up a fight.
Thanks for looking at my problem and trying to help me.

I try to open iphoto and it comes up with You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto. I have downloaded photo manager and it's telling me to update but it wont update...

iPhoto is Apple's included program to manage your photo's and pictures.
It receives updates over time with Software updates and new machine or iLife purchases.
When iPhoto gets updated or a newer version is used, it may alter iPhoto support files, but newer iPhoto versions usually always compatible with older files which it then updates.
If you used a newer iPhoto on your iPhoto support files, then they got altered to the newer format, older iPhoto versions can't read the older format.
Somewhere along the line you somehow got a older version of iPhoto on your computer, you need to fine the newer version of iPhoto (not this photo manager, sounds like another program)
Or somewhere along the line you used a newer iPhoto version (like on another Mac) and it altered the iPhoto support files on your older version of iPhoto.
So the key here is to find the newest version of iPhoto and use that to access your iPhoto support files.
If you didn't access your iPhoto support files from another Mac, then you should have the newer iPhoto version on your computer.
Once you find it, and get it in the Dock, you should remove the older iPhoto version from your computer to prevent this from happening again.
Lastly, if the newer version of iPhoto is somehow gone off your computer, you should be able to get a copy off the latest OS X install disk or iLife using a free program called Pacifist.
    http://www.charlessoft.com/
Then you need to check for updates for iPhoto in the program itself, the current version is 9.1.2

how can I use my itunes library for iphoto slideshow?

    Here's a possible workaround:
Create the slideshow in Iphoto and add a theme and music.
Install Picasa  and it will include the slideshow on it's indexed list.
Upload the slideshow to PicasaWebAlbums and send the link to anyone you wish.
The music and theme is preserved.
Caveat: My playback pictures appear darker than usual but that could be just lousy photography...:)

I have been using PSE 3.0 and PSE 5.0 but switched to a mac and now am using PSE 4.0. I can't seem to get the photo bin to work/behave as it does in 3.0/5.0. I use PSE for digital scrapping and used the photo bin to drag images to/for and to store layouts I selected for use in my pages. On the MAC I can't seem to drag anything to the photo bin. Sorry this is a basic question I'm sure...I am not so savvy w/ the MAC environment yet. Please help. Thanks in advance.

    tell application "Adobe Photoshop CS6"
