Using QT Pro for TV commercial

Initially, I thought my question would be a common one for this forum, but I searched and haven’t found the answer. I would like to email a Quicktime movie – a TV commercial – but the file I have is too large. Currently the file is 156MB, DV/DVCPRO – NTSC, channel count 2, duration :43 seconds. I can't say I understand all of this technical stuff, but this is what appears when I hit Command - I. Once the file is sent via email, I expect it to be played on the receiver’s computer.
I have been playing around with the settings in QT Pro but have not been successful in reducing the file. Thank you for any and all help. -Jeff

156MB is too large an attachment for any email service I've ever run across, and it's doubtful that you could compress that video sufficiently to be able to email it without making the quality so low as to be unusable (most emails providers have a pretty small limit for attachment size; usually on the order of 3MB or so, though check with your provider). I'd suggest instead posting the video to a web site or FTP server so the other person can download it rather than trying to email it to them.
Regards.

  • Using education version for professional/commercial purposes

Can anyone help me out with this? I've gone through Adobe customer support, in several different manners, and get several different answers to this.I've also found different answers on the forums too.
I am currently a student and using an education version of Web PremiumCS4, purchased through Adobe, with a valid student ID. I am getting interest in freelance work and would like to eventually use my programs for professional uses. However, from what I understand, that would currently go against the educational product license agreement.
To me, it would make sense that a student using the product to learn how to become a professional, using the product for their career choice, would eventually want to use their same copy for commercial reasons. So far, I've been told I have to purchase the full version with the commercial license in order to be able to use it without legal concern. Why in the world would I purchase the product all over again when the copy I have is exactly the same, just the legal agreements are different?? Ive also been told that I can trade in my educational product, receive credit for the price I paid and pay the remaining difference to buy the same program, just with a commercial license.
    Clarity please!
    Thanks,
    Shelbie

Hey Shelbie, the really good news is, when you do graduate and want to use the programs for true commercial work, then Adobe does give you a great deal to upgrade to the full commercial version from your student version.  I upgraded from my student version of Web Standard CS3 to Web Premium CS4 for $559 compared to having to pay $1499 for it.  It is a huge savings compared to what someone off the street has to pay.

  • I am using quicktime pro for apple codecs and  adobe CS6 cant see them. I am using win7 64bit op sytem. Help please...

I am using Quicktime pro 7 the latest, on a win7 64bit PC machine.
Adobe Premiere and Encoder cant see it; has anyone had troubles and
how do i fix this problem..help. I am try to use the apple codecs for
    digital editing "apple prores 422".

    Hi Gary
thanks for your reply, look I was loading the latest Quicktime and paid for the latest version of Quicktime Pro for windows as well as updating Itunes. After restarting my PC, the apple codecs would not show in the codecs list when i was preparing the output specs which are for the Australian broadcast which my boss wants of:
    1280 X 720, 25fps and Apple codecs prores 422.
Look I was wondering is there any area of Quicktime Player Pro that I have to turn on or off, I just wonder if I have to do something in Premier Pro or the other adobe program encore to convert certain levels of film from one level to another, as the camera crew I was with had 5 different levels of film to convert to the above format.
Do you have any other ideas that come to mind, I have had some troubles in the last six months with Indesign and Adobe pdf maker, I have alot of sucess with adobe before. I gratefull for any other hints. Cheers Hound Puppy

  • Would I use Premiere Pro for making a DVD?

I am looking to put my graphic design porfolio on a DVD.  I want to have an interactive DVD with a menu where user to pick which area of design they want to explore and my resume itself.  Then when they pick a piece...I want to have the information page to pop up first then the user have the ability to pick the piece where it will enlarge on the screen or vice versa.  It's all still pieces, no video.  Then I want to author the DVD.
However, I am not sure which Adobe programs to use to do this DVD.  I was thinking of using Premiere Pro CS4 and Encore??  Am I correct?
I need direction and advice!!  Thank you!

  • How to use Premiere Pro for live shoots (newbie needing some answers)

My school is about to delve into the world of live streaming.  We have a homemade Tricaster setup of sorts which allows for us to use three camcorders through as switcher which allows for some nice streaming capabilities.
My question is, how do I use Premiere Pro, or something else, to run live titles/graphics, etc. into the production?  You know, things like lower thirds, etc.?
Is this as simple as running another computer into a source on the switcher?  If so, how do I get the graphics etc. to appear as simple key pages?
Sorry, I've never used Adobe during a live shoot before.
I'd love for someone in the know to explain the workflow here.  Thank you so much!
I'd also be interested in knowing best practices for running b-roll into the switcher.  PP again?  Same computer as the graphics or a seperate one?

I dont't 'know anything from Adobe that could do this.

  • Designer refuses to use Acrobat Pro for Preview

every now and then, Designer (9.002) stops using Acrobat Pro as its preview engine and wants to use Acrobat Reader. I have no idea what causes this. So when you try to preview your document, Designer tries to launch a thread using AcroRd32.exe and since Acrobat.exe is running, it refuses to display anything.
This means you cant use the JavaScript debugger in Acrobat Pro to debug your scripts.
This is getting incredibly frustrating because there doesnt seem to be a way to tell Designer to play nicely with Acrobat Pro again.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, but this has been working for a while now and only does this sometimes.
Anyone else getting this or know how to fix it?

Well it seems that you can actually (or used to be able to) debug Acrobat JavaScript from within Designer itself using Acrobat Pro as the Preview renderer. As it actually spawns a real instance of Acrobat.exe, the JavaScript editor can be brought up during Preview mode (or used to be able to)
I have noticed the Debugger blink up a window that disappears whenever I deliberately force an exception.
Now my question is: Is this a known bug (Adobe?) and if so when is a likely fix going to be released? Or has one?
If it is NOT a bug, then how can I report it as a bug (Adobe?)

  • Using Simpleviewer Pro for Web galleries creation

For once, I don't have a problem, I just want to share a wonderful experience with Simpleviewer Pro. Simpleviewer (the free version) comes with LR and is pretty fast and easy to figure out. However, I went and bought the Pro version for $35 and found it much more powerful and faster. It does everything I wanted from a Gallery generation application. I installed it on my desktop but when I tried the same installation on the Laptop, it crashed and told me it cannot install. After emailing techsupport I got an answer virtually in hours. It gave me specific steps to try to resolve the problem and asked to be kept posted on developments. I tried a second time, unsuccessful again and emailed svBuilder-PRO with copies of the error messages I was getting. They got back to me right away : the problem was actually a WINDOWS problem, where an old version of Adobe AIR could not be unistalled to put the new one (Simpleviewer pro uses Adobe AIR). My email had a link to a Microsoft support site which had a Microsoft FIXIT executable. I downloaded and ran the FIXIT, it fixed the problem and svBuilder - Pro installed correctly.
In two words, this software is fast, powerful and elegant, it gives me everything I need for WEB Galleries creation and I would highly recommend it to anybody trying to do (or help doing) a WEB site.

Here's the appropriate language relating to this
    d) Soundtrack Pro. You may use the Apple and third party audio file content (including, but not limited to, the built-in sound files, samples and impulse responses) (collectively the “Audio Content”), contained in or otherwise included with the Apple Software, on a royalty-free basis, to create your own original soundtracks for your film, video and audio projects. You may broadcast and/or distribute your own soundtracks that were created using the Audio Content, however, individual audio files may not be commercially or otherwise distributed on a standalone basis, nor may they be repackaged in whole or in part as audio samples, sound files or music beds.
It mentions that you can distribute your audio projects, so that might seem to indicate that the answer is yes. The language is clearer in regard to synchronized music to picture, or audio for broadcast or other distribution.
+Personally I see a gray (grey) area here . . . what about if I took a piece of stock music from the audio content and wrote lyrics to it and called it a song. Can I claim sole authorship of that . . . the agreement seems to indicate yes, but that doesn't scan to me.+
Anyway, i think if you're talking about writing a song using loop content, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes you can sell the resulting creation. _But I'm no lawyer_. It's probably open to debate.

  • Can I use Mac Pro for a server?

I hope this is the right place to ask this....
I have an older Mac Pro G5 (10.5.8) Desktop.  I cannot update it past Leopard. So now I have a newer MacBook Pro.  I was wondering if I could utilize my old Mac Pro as some sort of "server"?
It has the origninal smaller drive but I added an additional 1TB SATA drive that is just sitting there doing nothing.
I rip a lot of movies to my MacBook Pro so I am already out of storage on it.   I keep moving movie files to my Time Capsule (1TB) in which I have partitioined off 300MB to use for media storage.
I have an Apple TV that I connect to my MacBook Pro but when I'm gone, the family can't use the ATV.
So, all that being said, can I somehow set up my older Mac Pro to use as a "server" and move all my media/photos/videos/songs to?  Or should I just copy everything to the 1TB drive on the Mac Pro and just access it through ATV like I do my MBP?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ehren

You absolutely could use your old Mac Pro as a server, however you still won't be able to update it passed 10.5.8.
That said, you should be able to store your media on it, and share it to your AppleTV through iTunes, barring any incompatibilites with the older software. I haven't looked into the system requirements for home sharing in a while. You might want to take a quick check and make sure everything is good to go.

  • Using Acobat Pro for PC with Mac

I am just migrating from pc use for the padt two decades to a mac and I am trying to reduce the new software purchase. Does "Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Windows" work on a Mac (in the Mac environment)?

    I probably should clarify.
You CAN run in bootcamp and boot up Windows on a Mac THEN you can run your Windows software but you'd have to get Windows and it's not the best way to run applications.
Best to transfer all of your apps over to Mac native apps.

  • Which FCP effects are used by pros for talking head corporate videos?

I'm trying to create a 'corporate' talking head web video look.
Which FCP effects are most useful for this?
On the one hand, I don't want to do effects just for the sake of doing effects, and distract from the message.
On the other hand, if it doesn't look interesting, the viewer isn't going to stick around for 30 seconds.
On the videoSellsYourMessage.com site, I've got a video on the Audio Visual tab with a race car background and sound effects along with text fade-ins and fade-outs.
Very simple and almost seems to work.
But, on the front page of that site, the abstract background just doesn't seem to cut it.
Besides needing to be re-shot with a less sleep deprived model, it's just lacking something (uh, like talent and creativity) - although the motion graphics & vocals at the end are maybe getting close?
Which FCP effects add to the message, rather than distract?
I'd love to see examples of what could be done with taking head commercial videos by a professionals using FCP.
    Thanks!

Basically, Andy is right. Bottom line...content is king. If the message is humdrum, you're in for some real creative brainstorming.
There are so many ways to approach this challenge. What should drive your creative, is an understanding of the 'Brand' you're promoting.
    Elements to consider:
    Tone and Style
    Color palette
    Font selection
    Pacing and edit flow.
What 'Promise' does the brand hold for the consumer?
Do you have access to corporate Broll or graphics that can help emphasize (sell) the message. That's the first thing I would look for. Use these to cut away from the straight up talking head.
Do you have the ability to create graphics or have someone on staff who can do this. If the corporation in question has a logo, graphics, website...you should use those elements to drive your creative choices...all chosen in order to re-inforce the 'Brand'.
Whizz-bang graphics, fast paced audio/visual cuts and vibrant colors might be great for the MTV generation, but if your product is geared towards 35-50 females, then you would tone things down. Or if the audience is 40 - 60 business types, you'd want visuals that projected confidence and stability...etc.
I don't think that answered your query, but (if you weren't already aware of the above blathering), I'm hopeful it will help guide you in your creative process.

  • Using MacBook Pro for point of sale.

My fiancee and I own a small photography business and recently got a studio setup. What I want to do is use my MacBook Pro as our register and hook it up to an electronic cash drawer, but someone I spoke to said that it will destroy my laptop. He said the voltage coming from the cash drawer will destroy the usb ports and eventually the laptop itself. I have searched all over google for information about this happening, but I haven't seen anything that talks about it. Can someone that knows, or has used their MacBook as a register shed some light on this? Thanks in advance!

  • Used Macbook Pros for college

Hi we will be buying our first Mac product for our son who is going for an Music Performance major at college.  The College is an  big Mac place and there is lots of Macs in the Performing Arts center, computer labs in the dorms.   We are in sticker shock looking at new prices, so we are exploring used and refurbish MBP's, but we don't know just how old we should be looking for.  We think we should not be looking for anything older than Mid 2012 since this needs to last him for 4 years.  Can we go older or try to buy the newest in our budget?
    LJD

I also recommend the Apple refurb site. MacBook Pros are in high demand for the "cool" factor and there are a lot of ripoff deals out there.
As notebook computers tend to get a lot of abuse, buying one used is a real risk. Like buying a used off-road vehicle, you don't know which mud-bog it's been stuck in!
We have many direct-from-Apple refurbs in our family of Macs and all have given excellent service.
I have this one, bought last June:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/FD101LL/A/refurbished-133-inch-macBook-pro-25g hz-dual-core-intel-i5
I love it. It is a real workhorse, the price is right, and you get an optical drive that si not present in the Retina models. My son bought the same model, and a friend bought two, all refurb 2012 models. That version does not show up much in these forums as a "problem child."

  • How to use Logic Pro for Windows 7?

I'm autistic, and am interesting in the music keyboards Apple sells. I would like to get Garageband and/or Logic Pro, but I have Windows 7 so I'm not sure if those kinds of software would work on that kind of system. Would they work on Windows 7, or if there's anything else I have to do?

    Hi,
None of the software (Logic, Garageband) is compatible between Mac OSX and Windows 7.
Your best choice is to look for similar programs avaialble on Windows.
There are several..  "Cubase" by Steinberg, "Sonar" by 12-Tone, and "ProTools" by Digidesign.
