I'm using QT to create a wmv file. I'd like to be able to include a live link in the movie. Is this possible?

Try posting in the QuickTime for Mac forum. You'll be more likely to get help there than you will here in the QuickTime for Windows forum. You might also try asking in the Flip4Mac forums (I presume you're using the Flip4Mac codecs to do the WMV export).

Why do I get "generic error" message when trying to upload a self-created, 1hr .wmv file?

I went through the forums and made sure that any blocks or copywrites weren't triggered by the file, it's clean and can be opened using a media player and other video editing software like windows MovieMaker. I keep getting "The importer reported a generic error" message and have no idea how to proceed. Can someone please help?

This ARTICLE starts with a checklist on setting up a computer to run PrE best, then goes into a series of links for tuning up one's computer and OS, and then links on troubleshooting.
There is also a link on posting all necessary info, to help others help you.
Without knowing much more about your system, it is impossible to say much beyond that WMV's are tough assests to work with, requiring a lot of CPU horsepower.

Sory Peter but you don't seem to understand.
If you pick up an e-book by random on the iBook Store, you will see that professional e-books ALWAYS start their chapters at the top of a new page, whatever the reader, the color of the page or the size of the text are.
I know how to add a new chapter with the use of the appropriate style in Pages but I want to be able to divide SECTIONS as well.
What I want to to do is to force a page break in between two paragraphs and apparently, this option is not possible with Pages.

The error of outside the scope of unicode occurred when I compiled(mxmlc) the as file which was set surrogate pairs to 'Unicoderange'.
Ex, I set the ' '(UTF-16 is '20B9F') to 'Unicoderange'.
However, I cannot add the surrogate pairs.

The reason of error was that the Unicode(UTF-16) of surrogate pairs is invalid.
Then, I read the following pages.

I've been able to create project jar files in Eclipse by selecting Export from the File menu, then choose Java - Jar file - and provide the required information, name, destination folder etc. But when I do this, I do not export other jars on the build path this way nor do I expect to do this. I am only concerned with creating a jar file of my own work. A jar file does not "contain" other jar files. If the jar file contains the main method, and requires other jars for it's execution, then you may wish to include a reference to required jars on the class path entry of the Manifest file of the jar file you create. I'm not sure how to create a Manifest file in eclipse though..

Proxies not created for WMV files

One of my FCSrv installs is having difficulty with .wmv files. The system has Flip4Mac Pro installed, and if you open the files directly, or even use the "view" popup in the FCS client on that system, the clips play fine. Also, in column view I see the previews. However, server doesn't create poser frames or thumbnails on scan, and the clip proxy transcode jobs stall (progress bar in Search all Jobs doesn't move) I was under the impression that if Quicktime on the server could play it, Final Cut Server could transcode it.

WMV is not native to APPLE thus is is trying to upscale to a MOV.

Unfornately I have dumped the manuals.
I need to create a new file based on deltas between to others, and I thought
diff3 could do the trick; the thing is that i cant remember how.
I want to sort bash_history to one file, and then make a diff between bash_history and "bash_sort".
then i want to "uniq -d <bash_sort >bash_dups".
based on this file, I want to use diff3 to recreate bash_history;
unsorted without any duplicate lines, in kindof same way as the appeard.
It is only outof curiosity, because i wrote a thing in bash and sed, which does
it for me. (together with uniq and sort).
but the technique is very useful, so feel free...

Are you trying to create a file which contains all the commands in .bash_history without repeats? Or are you trying to create a file which contains only those commands which occur exactly once? That is, you want to get rid of all occurrences of commands which occur multiple times.
Its like using the difference between bash_sort and bash_uniqe as a kindof
scaling factor and the diff between .bash_history and bash_sort.
so that I maybe run a diff script on the the diff between .bash_history and bash_sort, and by that are able to recreate a .bash_history with only unique lines.
Once you have bash_sort, why not just do
uniq bash_sort
to get a list without any repeats? This will work if you want to keep one copy of commands which appear multiple times but, obviously, if you want to eliminate all copies of such commands, it won't do what you want.

You can use "Combine Files" tool at https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html to add files to a PDF file.
1. Log into https://createpdf.acrobat.com/signin.html with your Adobe ID and password
2. Select "Combine Files" from right pane
3. Click "Select Files" button
4. Select your files to combine
5. Enter a name for combined PDF file
6. Click "Combine" button
7. Click "Download" button in the progress bar to download the combined file to your computer.

I sometimes need to supply wmv files of videos created in FCP to folks. What's the best way to covert a .mov to a high quality .wmv?

It is a plug in that will give you the option of generating WMV files out of Compressor and/or FCP.
There are a number of levels of Flip. The least expensive option works for simple stuff. If you need more complex options, spend more money for the higher level offerings.

HT3697 I am trying to convert a Keynote Presentation to a cross platform PDF file. When using export it creates a 30mb file when it only need to be 2-3mb and so cant email or use it very easily. How do I get the file size down?

I'm trying export a Keynote presentation to PDF, or other format, to use on Windows PC, iPad and other devices.
The file Keynote create is way too large at 30mb+. So cant email or share it very easily
If I print it and to Adobe PDF I can get it to 3mb, but have to crop it manually, and some settings or graphics are not so good or accdeptable!
Does anyone know how to do this?

Using AppleScript to create a text file, based on an OCR'd file's content

Hey guys, I've got an interesting situation.
I was wondering if there would be anyway to use something like AppleScript (or the like) to create a text document and fill it with information based on what is found in an already OCR'd file?
For example: I have a paycheck stub. The stub contains the words "Gross Pay" and the value "$xxxx.xx" on one line. Using Hazel to identify paychecks (based upon filenames), could I then use something like AppleScript, to create a new text file, and then pull the text from the line that contains the word's "Gross Pay" and insert it into the text file's next line?
Ex:
March 26,2012
Gross Pay                   $xxxx.xx
April 6,2012
Gross Pay                   $xxxx.xx
Kind of how TurboTax's iPhone app pulls text from an image, then uses the values to insert it into the app's appropriate fields?

PDF like the code for web pages needs to be downloaded to your local system as a temp file so it can be processed for display.

Use splitter to create multiple text file

Hello I have one view as source and would like to create multiple target text files based on different condition. What I am doing is that I am using SPLITTER which contain one INGRP1 and three OUTGRP( nameley TR1, TR2 and TR3) and one default REMAINING_ROWS ( what is the purpose of the REMAINING_ROWS?). So I mapped view to INGRP1 of the splitter and then added the different SPLITT condition in the condition wizard, for example :
for TR1
COMMISSION_TYPE='P' and
rownum <= 65000
for TR2
COMMISSION_TYPE='P' and
rownum > 65000
and for TR3
COMMISSION_TYPE='A'
After this since I have to create 3 comma delimted text files, I have used 3 expression for each individual splitt condition. In the expression what I am doing is that I am just concating all the fileds and then output of each expression goes to three different text files.
When I am deploying the mapping, it is coming up several errors such as :
