Using Remote Desktop Admin app in more than one user account.

Is possible to have the ARD admin app use the same database and settings over more than one user account?
eg. I have ARD setup on my Mac as I am in charge of our organisations Macs. However if I am away for a few weeks, one of our other techs would be able to turn on my Mac, log in to a generic account, open ARD and it would be set up exactly as I have it in my user account.
I know that I could manually set up ARD in the other account, but with the number of machines we have I would rather not have to re-enter all those admin passwords all over again, and then have to remember to update ARD in the other account everytime we get a new machine or make other changes.

In theory, you could simply copy the com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist into the preferences folder of the other user. Then they would simply have to know the Remote Desktop Password (which is probably stored in your KeyChain.)
I've never tried this, but it seems like it would work.

I'm simply trying to use iweb 1.1.2 on two user accounts (both labled as administrators) on our macbook. Welcome to the discussions. If iWeb's menus are greyed out, the following trick has worked for some:
In the user account which does not let you start a new page, save, etc. — Quit iWeb. Start iPhoto. Select a couple of photos, click on the iWeb icon at lower right and choose Photo Page. iWeb will open up and invite you to choose a template for your new Photos page. Choose any template so that the page is created and then delete that newly created page.
...Now perhaps things are no longer greyed out in iWeb.

You CAN use the ATV to share more than one iTunes library. Homesharing however require you to use the SAME apple ID on both computer. I have homesharing turned on both my girlfriend and my computer with me signed in on both computers and the ATV. Both itunes librarie show up on the ATV as long as both computer are ON.

But...
You CAN connect an iPad to multiple Apple ID's, one-at-a-time, if you're willing to share a combined pool of apps, music, movies, photos, podcasts, and perhaps, email accounts, and sync things manually.
First, uncheck the option to 'automatically sync' mobile devices in the preferences for each iTunes account, so that you're not accidentally installing or removing content when you connect the iPad to a computer.
Here's how we do it:
I have a MacBook with two user accounts and two Apple ID's: "Hers"-used only for iTunes/iPad manual sync-ing and backup; and "Mine", used for all my Mac programs, plus iPad Apps that I'm interested in.
The iPad2 is her only computing device, used primarily for email and web-browsing.
On her iPad2, we have a combined 'pool' of apps, photos, and music.
We use her Apple ID for her email, and to sync and back up.
I use my Apple ID to download a lot of free apps to my MacBook.
In the App Store, I sign out of her Apple ID and use my Apple ID to transfer and update the apps I want to try out. Then I can delete them from her iPad when I'm done 'playing', yet leave them on my MacBook for future re-installation, if desired.
To simplify email privacy, we've configured the iPad Mail app exclusively for her MobileMe and Hotmail accounts. I connect to my email accounts with the Safari browser, or from my MacBook.

How can I transfer the mailboxes from more than one user account to Thunderbird?

I've recently transferred my email to Thunderbird, having previously used Outlook Express (which I still have installed, but don't use). On OE I had two user identities, each with its own set of mailboxes, sub-mailboxes and address book. Thunderbird has copied across both identities, creating a new set of mailboxes for each, and has also copied both address books (and amalgamated them), but has only copied one of the old sets of mailboxes. Is there a way I can get it to copy the others? I noticed some reference to a limit on the number of messages - I did have rather a lot in the OE account from which it hasn't copied the messages! Could that be the problem?

have you heard about Thunderbird profiles? A profile change requires a restart unlike OE and it's change of identities. But multiple profiles is basically functionally identical to the OE identify. There is also an add-on https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/index-en.html#profname which make a menu entry to allow you to set te profile to be opened next time Thunderbird starts.
I am guessing crashing into the already existing outlook import folder made the mail an issue. So if you rename the outlook express import folder to something else the import may well go as planned.

How do I make iTunes music available in more than one user account?

I have 2 user accounts on my computer. One for me and one for my wife. What I'm wondering is how I can make it so that the music in iTunes in my user account can also be available in her user account. When I'm on her user account iTunes is empty and there are no songs in it. I want for her to be able to have my same library in her iTunes. How can I do this?

Hi Bob,
you could try coping all your music onto an external drive & choose that drive as both of yours music folders. It should work... I think.
Or just burn a data disc of your tracks & import them to the second account.
I've not got two accounts on my machine but the above should work, in theory. Give them a try. Though I'm unsure about purchased tracks.

Using Adobe apps on more than one account?

Is there a fix forthcoming for the problem running CS4 on Leopard, where you can't use Adobe apps on more than one user account at a time (via fast user switching?) When I switch over to my 2nd account, I get some sort of "licensing error" dialog unless I quit all Adobe apps in my first account, which is incredibly annoying.

Adobe's single-user licensing allows for your installation and
non-simultaneous use on two computers. And the software may think that two different users are trying to use the software simultaneously. You might try contacting Adobe tech support and ask.

1) When you execute the program, we can check if there is any lock on this table. If yes, the user should be able to only view the table contents and not modify.
2) If there is no lock, then lock the table and go into change mode.
3) On exiting from the program, unlock the table using the function module.
4) more than one user can't modify the table just display.
Note: If there is any lock, display message saying table is locked.
Plz help me for this requirement.

 Exclusive lock
 The locked data can be read or processed by one user only. A request
 for another exclusive lock or for a shared lock is rejected.
 Shared lock
 Several users can read the same data at the same time, but as soon
 as a user edits the data, a second user can no longer access this
 data. Requests for further shared locks are accepted, even if they
 are issued by different users, but exclusive locks are rejected.
 Exclusive but not cumulative lock
 Exclusive locks can be requested by the same transaction more than
 once and handled successively, but an exclusive but not cumulative
 lock can only be requested once by a given transaction. All other
 lock requests are rejected.
If you want to lock a standard table search whether the table is used in lock objects (Where-Used-List). If it is a customer table you have to create your own lock object (including two function modules: one for enqueuing and the other for dequeuing).
The lock modules can be found in menu GoTo -> Lock Modules.
Given these lock modules the logic should be quite clear after starting the program:
1. Request lock -> if successful, continue in Change mode; -> if failed, continue in Display mode
2. Before leaving the report remove lock (note: no problem if no lock has been set in the beginning).

You cannot set up more than one user account on the iPad if that is what you mean.
Obviously families will share an iPad, but they are really meant to be single user devices with one Apple ID only on the iPad. Multiple ID's on one iPad can become a bit of a hassle to deal with.
There is no way to lock apps or email accounts so that can become an issue as well. If you use the built in mail app for email, whoever is using the iPad can read your email.
