Using Scanner with Powerbook

Hi, this may sound really stupid and I'm almost afraid to ask this,
How do I use a scanner? under tiger.
I have Canon MP470 connected to powerbook 12" OS 10.4.11 via USB cable.
When I try to scan using the buttons on the scanner, it doesn't do anything.
The scanner works fine under XP but I don't know how to use it under Tiger.
Thanks.
ps. Printing works perfectly fine.

Have you installed 'Canoscan' from your scanner software disc? You can also download it from the Canon support website.

  • Cannot use scanner with WLan with Advent AW10 printer

I have a Satellite L500D-11R using Windows Vista.
I have purchased an Advent AW10 printer with wi-fi functionality.
I am able to print documents and photos with no problem, however I cannot use the scanner with wi-fi.
After several lengthy talks with Advent support, not very useful, I was asked if I had Twain_32 on my laptop.
I have searched my machine and there is no trace of Twain.
I need to download a current version of Twain_32 and have been told to get this from the supplier of my laptop.
The web, I have learnt, is not the safest way to download Twain_32 due to security issues.
I have looked for a Toshiba and Microsoft download with no luck.
    Can anyone help?

    Hi mate
I think this is not a Toshiba issue but this question should be addressed to the manufacturer support of printer.
However, our community tries to help everyone as good as possible
I searched a little bit and found this youtube video how to repair TWAIN_32.DLL error
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6nLWR9TLgY
Otherwise you will need a support from printer manufacturer

  • Using scanner with Aperture

I have just opened Aperture for the first time and I realize that I can´t use my filmscanner (Canoscan FS4000US) with the program.
So is this program really everything I need? Or must i purchase Photoshop as well?

Aperture is never meant to be a Photoshop competitor. It's a great tool for raw convertion and organization, a complete raw workflow application.
To automatically import to Aperture scanned images you can use a hot folder, which imports any image that goes into it. Check the following link for instructions:
    http://www.automator.us/aperture/example-04.html
You can use Image Capture (inside your application folder) for scaning images, and using automator create an action to automatically import them to Aperture.
With your scanner you probably got some scaning software and Photoshop Elements, which is more that enough for simple retouching/cleaning of your scans.

Ive seen this over time but the only response was to re start, as well some instructions for PC  Scanner isc Canoscan lide 210OS is mac osx , mavericks and  ysemite and el capitian (beta), same issues on all O/S 's Any please help

Are you scanning from MP Navigator or ImageCapture?
on the 10.9 or 10.10 computers I'd download the ICA driver and the Scanner driver, along with the latest version of MP Navigator from the website and install them, then reboot.
    http://usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/scanners/canoscan_series/canoscan_lide210#DriversAndSoftware
Try to scan using MP Navigator. If you get the error, close MP Navigator and try to scan using ImageCapture. Do you still get the error?
I'm not including suggestions for El Capitan because there aren't drivers available for it yet, so I wouldnt expect it to work.

  • Using scanner with Adobe 8

I am a teacher with a 10 year old student. She has an incredible IQ but has very poor eyesight. Is it possible to scan textbooks into Adobe and then enlarge the print size for printing? I am using Adobe 8 plus vista. If yes, can you tell me how?
If you can help please contact [email protected]

The student may be eligible to help with the eyesight is poor enough to
be considered a disability. The school district or the school may be
responsible of providing the needed materials in an appropriate form.
Many texts are available as pdfs (from the publisher), then Acrobat's

  • Using SCSI peripheral with PowerBook G4

I have been using an Epson Expression 636 scanner with a G3Blue and White, connecting with a SCSI cable. Now I want to use the scanner with my PowerBook G4 and I don't know how to connect the SCSI output from the scanner to my G4 which has usb and firewire input ports. Is there a special cable connection? Does it need software to format the signal properly? I don't seem to know where to get the information. Epson? Apple? a cable manufacturer? It doesn't seem right to discard an excellent working scanner just because I don't know how to connect it properly. Please let me know if you've had this problem and solved it.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You can find a similarly priced scanner to the adapter necessary to add SCSI to your machine, and it will run faster than with such an adapter.
I'd sell the old scanner and get a USB or Firewire scanner.

  • Help with using Scanner Class

Hi there - I'm a newbie to Java and may have posted this in the wrong forum previously.
I am trying to modify a program so instead of using a BufferReader, a scanner class will be used. It is basically a program to read in a name and then display the variable in a line of text.
Being new to Java and a weak programmer, I am getting in a mess with this and missing something somewhere. I don't think I'm using scanner in the correct way.
Any help or pointers would be good. There are 2 programs of code being used. 'Sample' and 'Run Sample'
    Thanks in advance.
Firstly, this program will run named 'Sample'

  • How can I use a USB 3.0 HDD with PowerBook G4 12" 1 Ghz OS 10.4.11?

Is it possible to use a USB 3.0 HDD with PowerBook G4 12" 1 Ghz OS 10.4.11? I'm using a HDD with a USB 3.0 tyo 2.0 cable that came with the drive, but it has proven to be extremely unreliable...cloned my system and backed numerous files to 3 partitions on the 1 TB drive, now I can no longer access the drive at all. None off my drive utilities will even show the volumes (TechToolPro, Disk Utility, Disk Warrior, or DataRx). If I plug it into a Windows machine running Windows 7, the drive appears, and is functioning perfectly. I'd just really like to use it with my PB G4, if at all possible...thanks for the help folks...StudioBill

You need drivers and adaptors which I doubt will work with a G4 Powerbook.

  • Can't I use my Scanner with the Elements 10 editor without the organizer??

I have been using Photoshop Elements for a looong time to help me create the product images I need for my online business. It's been a love-love relationship... until I took advantage of a special offer and bought Elements 10. Now it seems the only way I can scan images is thru the Organizer.... and the organizer is something I don't need.
Is there a way to scan my images thru the Editor only... and completely bypass the organizer (as I'm able to do with my older version of Elements)? Like a twain plugin I can install or something?
I may scan 10 images and decide to use only 3 of them... and those are the only ones I save.
With the way PSE10 is set up using the Organizer to scan, it's saving all 10 of them. Not to mention the extra steps of scanning thru the Organizer... (which means that pop-up window for my scanner every time), back over to the editor to pull the images in for editing, back to my files to delete the ones the organizer saved that I don't want... etc etc etc.
It's like 5-6 extra steps altogether and a huge time-sink for me (you know the old saying... time is money).
If there's no way to bypass the Organizer for scanning.... can I get a refund on my purchase? My older version of Elements works beautifully for me...  I was just hoping for  more sophisticated image editing capabilities.
    VERY frustrated right now.

Thank you very much for your explanation which I fully understand.  Since a "fix", as you say, is not a solution might it not be a good idea to alert purchasers of the latest editions of Elements that they have an option to try this alteration to the installation in order to be able to import images from a scanner?  (My own experience with versions prior to 9 always worked perfectly!)  I do not know but does Photoshop CS5 allow the user to import images from a scanner or does the user have to use a similar solution to what applies to Photoshop Elements?  I find Elements to be a very good app and am sure it is a good selling product for Adobe for amateur/semi-pro users that the alternative that I suggest may be a useful tool for existing or new users who want or need the capability to import from a scanner rather than having to go through other more difficulty and time consuming ways of doing the same task.  Kindest regards and with my best intentions.

It's not a "fix", exactly. The TWAIN plug-in causes a lot of crashing in PSE so in the past couple of versions adobe makes you install it if you want it.

  • TS4009 Has anyone else had a problem with files going missing in iCloud?  I'm use Scanner Pro which saves files to iCloud and some of my older files are MIA

I use Scanner Pro, which is a document scanning app.  It scans (takes a picture of) the documents then saves as a "spdoc" and uploads to iCloud, then retrieves the file when you need to view or send.  I had some important tax docs saved and when I went to open them today they can't be retrieved.  The folder containing the files shows the the space is allocated for the files (says folder is 8 mb and the files I can see in the folder are only taking up 6.2 mbs).
Is there anything I can do to retrieve these files.  They are super important!
    Thanks for your help!

I was running into the same problem with my Mac.  I could not open nor find an application that would open a .spdoc file extension.  However, I went to my iPad and was able to open the file using the Scanner Pro app.  I hope this helps.

  • How to use "scanner advanced" signal with DMM 4060?

    Hi!
We're using SCXI-1128 switches with 1331 terminal blocks. The switches should communicate with the PCI DMM 4060 via the SH9MD cables.
Does someone know if there is a possibility to use the scanner advanced signal from the switch over these cables (for handshaking)? The documantation says the signal is only available on the front connector (1331) which does not make much sense in my eyes...
I'd be glad if someone could help me here.
    Best regards,
    Jan

When you are using the SH9MD to communicate from the 4060 to an 1128, you are using the cable for SCXI communication. You are connecting this cable to the back of the 1128 and the only signals it can carry are SCXI communication and the Measurement Complete (MC) from the DMM to the Switch. The 1128 cannot route his Scanner Advanced (SA) signal to the back where the SH9MD connects, and there are not any available PIN to carry it.
If you want to use handshaking with a PCI 4060 and a 1128, you will need to control the Switch using a different controller than your PCI 4060 (another 4060/4070/4021) connected to the back of the 1128 using the SH9MD cable. You will also need to get the "trigger cable" for your PCI 4060 (available page 298 in 2002 NI catalog). This cab
le splits the SH9MD into 2 BNCs; EXT TRIG IN and MC. These BNCs need to be connected to the SA screw terminal and to the EXTRIGIN screw terminal respectivelly on the 1331 terminal block.
The DMM will need to be set to external for both the Trigger/Sample trigger and the MC destination. The Switch would also have its SA destination and input trigger set to "front of module X".
A very good source of information in the "NI digital multimeter help" available on the Web. Check out the Triggering section under the Programming heading.
    Good luck.

  • Using an external display with Powerbook G4

I have a Powerbook G4 15" (1.25GHz powerpc G4). I would like to purchase an Apple external display to use with it.I have two questions please:
    a) Is this Powerbook compatible with both the 20-inch Apple Cinema Display AND the 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display? It is unclear from the Apple website whether it only works with the 20" screen.
    b) would I be able to physically shut the Powerbook (whilst keeping it on) whilst using it with the external display (and an external keyboard) or would I need to keep the Powerbook open to prevent it from going into sleep mode? I'd like to be able to shut it so it doesn't take up desk space but continue to work on it.
    Thanks for any help
    Mark

You ended in the 17" PowerBook forums but your question should get the same answer here as in the 15" forums. I'll take "b".
Here are two Apple articles on using the G4PB with the lid closed. It's slightly different between USB and BlueTooth keyboards, so they get separate articles
    With BlueTooth keyboard/mouse
    With USB keyboard/mouse
I've not used an external monitor on my G4PB so I'll let someone else talk about that.

  • Can i use a canon like 30 scanner with yosemite ?

can i use a canon lide 30 scanner with yosemite ? i cannot load any drivers

    MissBea,
You can probably use your Canon printer with your HP notebook.
When connecting an HP printer to the computer, the printer works best when the printer software for that printer is downloaded and installed on the computer.
I would suggest that you need to do the same for the cannon printer, that is, you should download and install the driver (software) onto the computer.   After you install the driver, and connect the printer using whatever means you have (wireless, USB, Ethernet), you should be able to control the printer from the computer.
Instead of installing HP printer software, you will need to install the printer software for your cannon printer.

  • Using Epson Perfection 1670 scanner with Macbook

Can anyone point me to a work around for using my Epson Perfection 1670 scanner with my new Macbook? Drivers for the Mac OS do not appear to be available at the Epson website. Thanks much!

Thanks again for the help. I contacted Epson support and they directed me to download the same drivers that Apple Support had suggested. For some reason, the new drivers worked, even though I was really just retracing my steps and re-trying a previously attempted solution. The bottom line is, however, that I can scan photos successfully using the MacBook Pro and the Epson Perfection 1670.
    Thanks much!
