Using Scheduling in OWB 10.2.0.1 (Paris)

Dear all after some clarification on the use of scheduling in OWB 10G R2. We have just installed this version but i have a couple of questions surrounding the scheduling, may i point out that i have no knowledge of schedling in OWB so am relying on the user manual. It states that in R2 for each project it creates by default a MY_CAL_MODULE where you can then create schedules. Having got 10G R2 installed i cant see either Calenders folder or this MY_CAL_MODULE it talks about. I must also point out that at this stage we do not have Workflow installed because R2 relies on 2.6.4 of workflow but we can only find 2.6.3 or 2.6.3.5 on OTN (we are waiting for an Orcale rep to confimr if 2.6.4 exists). My thoughts maybe that OWB gets its calender from workflow but this is an assumption. Is there anyone out there who has any experience of Scheduling mappings direct in OWB R2 Paris who could advise how it needs to be set up it would be very much appreciated

Hello
Workflow is part of the actual database distro. It will be in the extras download, the same one where you would find HTML-DB
So for your version of database, locate the extras download, and you will find the small apache server, workflow db install, and mid tier along with html-db. Depending on your version of DB you need to install the apache server first, then workflow schema, then mid tier
If you get the client download for the db you have the option of installing the actual WF builder client.
There will be install docs too.

  • Subcontracting Using Scheduling agreement

I am trying to carry out subcontracting using Scheduling Agreement, but not able to achieve the same. Please let me know stepwise porocedure to carry out the same.

    Hi,
    Please cehck the following,
Requirement – Subcontracting Orders to be generated as schedule line using MRP.
    Solution is as follows.
    Step 1
    Transaction Code: MM01
Path Logistics  Materials Management  Material Master  Material  Create (general)  Immediately
Create Material Master with source list marked in Purchasing view and Special Procurement type is 30 in MRP2 View.
Source List to be marked in Purcahsing data view of material master record.
    Procurement type in F
In MRP-2 view, Special procurement 30 – Subcontract
    Step 2.
    Create Q-Info Records.
    Transaction: QI01
Menu Path: Logistics  Quality Management  Quality Planning  Logistics Master Data  Q-Info Record: Procurement  Create
    Step 3.
Create a Scheduling Agreement (Doc. type LP).
Enter the firm zone: Zone in which the requirement should be converted to Schedule lines.
    Save the document
    Step 4.
    Create Source List
    Transaction: ME01
Path: Logistics  Materials Management  Purchasing  Master Data  Source List  Maintain
    In ME01,
Enter the valid from and to date, vendor, purchasing organization, agreement created in STEP 3, and MRP indicator as 2 = Record relevant to MRP. Sched. lines generated automatically.  SAVE the record
    STEP 5
    RUN MRP.
    Transaction is MD02.
Path: Logistics  Production  MRP  Planning  Single item, multi level
Control. Parameter to be used for schedule lines is 2, This will ensure that requirement in the firm zone is converted to schedule lines rest will be converted to planned order.
Next is the solution for splitting the requirement in two vendors.
    step-6
The splitting of requirement will be handled using quota arrangement.
Following are the steps to be followed:
    Step 1. Customizing settings
Transaction: OMI4 (Define Lot sizing procedures), Choose MRP Lot Size
    Mark the Splitting quota.
The Splitting will enable the requirement to be split between two vendors. The following are the details of the same.
Step 2. Change the Material Master
    Change views
View to be changed is Purchasing
Input the Quota arr. Usage as 3 (MRP relevant).
    Step 3. Create Info Records.
    Transaction: ME11
Choose Subcontracting and create the info record.
Step 4. Maintain the Source List
    Transaction: ME01
    To add the next vendor
    Step 5. Create Quota Arrangement
    Transaction: MEQ1
Path: Logistics  Materials Management  Purchasing  Master Data  Quota arrangement  Maintain
Input the material and plant and press enter.
Input the Valid to date and Min. qty splitting (If the requirement is greater than Min qty Splitting only then the requirement will be split else it will be allocated to only one vendor based on the Quota
    Enter the following details
Procurement type as F = External procurement
Special procurement as L = Subcontract
Vendors for which splitting is to take place.
    Calculating the Quota Rating
The system assigns a quota rating to each source of supply. The quota rating is calculated as follows:
Quota-allocated quantity + Quota base quantity
    = Quota rating
    Quota
    where
    •     Quota-allocated quantity
= Total quantity from all purchase requisitions, purchase orders, release orders, and scheduling agreement schedules allocated to a given source of supply. (The quantities of quota-allocated planned orders are also taken into account.)
    •     Quota base quantity
= Quantity used to control the quota arrangement when new sources of supply are included.
    •     Quota
= A number specifying which portion of a total requirement should be obtained from a certain source.
The source with the lowest quota rating represents the valid source, even if it has a quota rating of 0 (that is, the quota-allocated quantity and the quota base quantity have the value 0). If more than one source of supply has a quota rating of 0, the item with the highest quota is the valid source of supply.
According to the formula, the following applies: The higher the quota, the lower the quota rating and the higher the likelihood that the relevant source will be determined as the valid source.
But in case of splitting SAP will not go on the basis of Quota it will purely split the requirement quantity between two or more vendor on the basis of Quota %.
    Step5. RUN MRP
Remember to choose the schedule lines control indicator to 2.
    Please try this.
Don't forget to reward, if found to be useful.

  • Using Schedule Manager (FMDM) to manage budget carry forward for commitment

    Greetings,
Using ECC 5.0,  we have a business requirement to carry forward (FMJ2) some open commitments with budget and some open commitments without budget to the new fiscal year. We have attempted to use Schedule Manager (FMDM)  to change the settings on open commitments (purchase requisitions and purchase orders). While the Schedule Manager reflects the change in the budget carry forward status, the application of the FMJ2 does not work as expected.  Alternatively, we have changed the configuration settings and then transported changes to production environment.
I would appreciate guidance on how to troubleshoot operation of Schedule Manager so budget carrry forward status can be managed with this tool.
    Regards,
    Rod Anderson

    Thanks, Ming.
My security team has confirmed that the FMDM is currently set up as a display only transaction.  I now know where to take the issue from here.

  • What the "Local RTP Service" is used for in OWB 9.2.0?

What the "Local RTP Service" is used for in OWB 9.2.0?

    Dmitry,
The Runtime Platform (RTP) Service is the server-side component of Warehouse Builder that provides execution and deployment services. For example, if the RTP Service is down you will not be able to start Deployment Manager and will get the error message to that effect. RTP Service is invoked through a database job that is automatically started when the database is started and shut down when the database is shut down.
It is also manually controllable through Start menu shortcut on Windows or start_service.sql / stop_service.sql in [OWB Home]/owb/rtp/sql

  • About Using Hints in OWB

    Hi ALL
I am facing one diffculty about using hints in OWB. Through the mapping configuration, i am trying to use INDEX hint for my table. The generated code is correct, but is a very redundant code. Hint is repeating multiple times in the sub query. Below is the sample:
    SELECT
    /*+ INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") */
    Column1,
    Column2,
    Column3,
    Column4,
    Column5,
    Column6,
    Column7,
    Column8
    FROM
    ( SELECT
    /*+ INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") INDEX ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2")
    Column9,
    Column10,
    Column11,
    Column12
    FROM
    ( SELECT .....
The text under the hint ("My_Table1") INDEX ("My_Table2") is repeating again and again. Any way of controlling the code being generated..?

From a performance standpoint, using hints in that manner may cause poorer performance than without. The INDEX (table_name) hint directs the optimizer to evaluate all relevant indexes. It is very easy to build an example where your column of interest is the last column in a multicolumn index and have a query perform worse than what a full table scan would produce. Oracle's recommendation is to "use hints sparingly" and that is for good reason.

  • Using CASE in OWB

There is a new article on the OTN/OWB site re. Using CASE in OWB. Very helpful, however I think ther eis a typo. The following paragraph states that CASE does not work in row-based mode. Shouldn't it say DECODE does not work in row-based mode?
    CASE vs. DECODE
Warehouse Builder generates various types of code, some in row-based mode, some in set-based mode. To guarantee that the code works in all environments it is recommended to use CASE instead-of DECODE. The CASE statement does not work in row-based mode generation in an Oracle8i database.
    Chris Busch
    [email protected]

    Hi Chris,
Actually, in 8.1.7 the CASE statement has equal limitations as the decode statement. That means it works in SQL context only. For Oracle 9i this has been resolved in the server and as of 9i CASE works in all modes of code.
Therefore you would use a case statement in the same way you would use decode on 8.1.7. Hence this is not a typo.
    Hope this helps,
    Jean-Pierre

  • Use Scheduler in OSB

    Hey!
I'm trying to develop a simple service in OSB 11g (like writing to a log) that could start at a certain time that I choose every day or that it repeats from x to x seconds or minutes.
Anyone have some idea how can I do it?
I'm thinking to use a Scheduler but i can't find anything that really works? It's this the best solution? Can someone explain how can I implement it?
    Thanks!!

I think you are evaluating wrong product. There is no scheduling support in OSB. Also its stateless nature would make implementation of your cases (polling) rather difficult.
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/service-bus/docs/Oracle-Service-Bus-SOD.pdfScheduling is not supported in OSB out-of-box. You may need to find a way to invoke OSB service as and when you want. In other words, use scheduling feature of other components (weblogic/BPEL/DB or any other custom application) and invoke OSB service from that component.
Certain methods have been discussed in the threads I posted above.

  • How to measure performance of supplier when using scheduling agreement ?

    Hello all,
My client has an absolute need to be able to measure the performance of its suppliers based on delivery dates and delivered quantities. That is to say he needs to be able to compare what dates and quantities were asked to what has been really delivered.
Most of the procurement processes used are based on scheduling agreements : schedule lines are generated by MRP and forecast is sent to supplier while firm requirements are sent through JIT calls.
It seems that when doing GR in MIGO, it is done against the outline agreement number, and not against the call. Therefore, we have no way to compare dates and quantity with what was expected (in the JIT call).
Do you know if SAP proposes a standard solution to this, and what could be a solution to this issue ?
    Thanks for your help
    E. Vallez

    Hi,
My client faced the same problem and we ended up developing an own analysis in LIS. Since the GR is not linked to specific schedule line (SAP does some kind of apportioning, but it doesn't have to correlate to the correct match), one needs to do assumptions. Our assumption was the closest schedule line, i.e. each GR is related to the schedule line with the closest date. Then all GR the same day are totaled together before the quantity reliability is calculated, since the very same shipment can be reported through several GR transactions in SAP (one per pallet).
If anybody has info about what SAP has to offer in this question (or is developing), please tell us!

  • How to let a prompt vary together with the systemdate when using scheduling

    Hello,
If I schedule a report to run every month on the data of the previous month I would like to be able to change the prompt date automatically without me changing this prompt date every month. Does anyone know how I can do this?
    thanks in advance
    Thierry Renaer

    Hi Thierry,
I could only achieve this by setting a condition in the universe to a default date. So if the date equalled the 1st January 1900 then use the system date otherwise use the date in the prompt
The code would look something like
    test_date = case when @prompt('Enter date:', 'D', {MyClass\MyDate},mono,free,,,) = to_date('01/01/1900', 'DD/MM/YYY')
    then sysdate
    else @prompt('Enter date:', 'D', {MyClass\MyDate},mono,free,,,)
    end
You can then schedule your report using 1st Jan 1900, but the user can also refresh with genuine dates

  • How to use scheduled agent for query in database

Hi there I'm working with database on my app and when use the query for search in the database the application freeze for a maximum of one minute I want change that why I want what runs ok and I wonder if I can use a background agent for do that manage
    the queries .
But I don't know how can I call the queries from the other project if the files are in the main project.

    Hi OzkarLeo,
Background task provides functionality to do work when your app not in foreground, it need some conditions to trigger.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/Hh977056(v=win.10).aspx. If you need scheduled query when app is active in foreground, then it’s no need to use background task.

  • How to embed reports in an email using Scheduler

    Hi all,
I am using the "schedule" option in a webi report to deliver a report through email in pdf format. However, our end users want the report data to be embedded in an email rather than as an attachment. We are using BO XI 3.1. I tried searching in google for more than a day and couldnt get any relevant info. Could someone please let me know if it possible to embed report data in an email ? If so, could you please share your notes.
    thanks
    Joe.

    Hi,
Scheduling a webi document does not give the option to embed the report in mail body.
However, this is possible while scheduling a publication. You can create a publication for the webi report and schedule it with format mhtml to email. Please refer to the publication guide for details.
