Using Screen Saver & a projector

I have a Canon 40d with a wft-e3 wireless transmitter attached. I wanting to know how to get the pictures I take to project to a slide show dynamically. Is there any type of software that will do this? I am working with a Mac Book Pro 10.5 OS. The best way to describe what I want to be able to do is to use the screen saver functions on the mac as an example. You know how you can go into system preferences and select a folder with pictures and have that as your screen saver? Well, I want to be able to shoot pictures on the fly and have those pictures sent wirelessly to this folder and have the screen saver folder update automagically and then have the screen saver projected out onto a screen. Is this possible??????? Please help. Thanks

Interesting, but thankfully there are much easier ways of doing it!

  • How to create apple quick key to lock screen in 10.6.8 WITHOUT using screen saver or expose feature.

    Hello All,
    I frequently use my mac in an office that many of my co-workers have access to. I'd like to know of a quick way to lock my screen without putting it in sleep mode or using the screen saver/expose feature. I have the Lock Screen icon in my menu bar but i'd like to know how I can assign a quick key to quickly activate the "Lock Screen" function.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance to those who respond!

  • Use screen saver while running DVD player?

    This may seem like a silly question, but I like to watch the Simpsons while falling asleep.  The issue being that by the time the DVD has run it's course, I have fallen asleep only to wake up maybe several hours later and the screen saver isn't on.  So as not to burn out the screen, the drive, or the hard drive, is there a way to stop the DVD player from overriding the power saving settings?  Better put, can I get my mac to go to into sleep mode after a set period of time while the DVD player is running?
    Thanks for your help.

    Don't mention it. You were the one who said the question might seem silly, and you were right. Actually, the question itself wasn't silly:
    ...can I get my mac to go to into sleep mode after a set period of time while the DVD player is running?
    That was a reasonable question, and I answered it straight. My somewhat facetious response to the underlying situation reflected my perception that you want to have your machine runniing and sleeping at the same time, which is an impossibility on its face.

  • Problems using screen saver slideshow

    I have a selection of travel pictures which I use as screensaver on my Apple TV. After the last ATV software upgrade an annoying black window appears on the screen along with the slideshow asking me to select an Airplay source (choose 1 for my LAN or 2 for Apple TV)  It , of course, essentially ruins the picture show. I have been unable to turn it off and it is driving me nuts. Any suggestions?

    Yes It's my first reaction. Power off and power back on. I have to do this from time to time because the wretched thing freezes occasionally. But unfortunately this not cure this problem.
    I thought that buying an AppleTV rather than a multimedia disk would buy me reliability. But it's not proving so.

  • Can not use default screen saver with this version of Mac OS X

    Hello,
    I created a 10.6.4 image on a Mac Pro that I have installed on a new 27" iMac. Every thing works fine, as expected, except the screen savers (all Apple default). All screen savers appear in the list when booted off the Mac Pro, but when booted off the iMac, all but 2 disappear (Computer Name and Flurry). Also, the ones listed under Pictures show up, but when I try to use one it says "Can not use 'screen saver name' with this version of Mac OS X - Contact your vendor."
    Also, the flurry screen saver runs extremely slow.
    Unfortunately, I don't have another iMac to compare versions with, but I've compared with a new Macbook Pro and they are exactly the same. Is there a cache or a pref I can flush?

    The old screensavers were about the first things that didn't work when moving to Snow Leopard, so my guess would be the iMac is booting in 32-bit vs 64-bit mode (or whichever mode is incompatible with your screensavers).

  • Restoring screen saver in mavericks

    I've updated my iMac to mavericks, and machine has slowed to a halt. Further, I cannot restore my desktop backgrounds (previously used a photo album from iPhoto). Any help or advice out there before schlepping it into the Apple store?

    Hi rasprophet,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having with your iMac.   Unplugging all of your peripherals and restarting the computer is always a good first troubleshooting step after an update.  If you've updated your iPhoto software, you may need to reset your screensaver settings in the System Preferences.

  • Word of the day screen saver not working after upgrade?

    anyone else having the word of the day/dictionary screen saver not pop up anymore after the upgrade?

    Yes, precisely. The crash of "word of the day" cannot be related to the Lion upgrade. Some other issue must be at fault. And to clarify and be specific "Apple" did not say it was not supported but rather one person working in customer support said "word of the day" was not supported - and since some of us Lion users having the screen saver work and only just now failing, that one person at Apple seems to have made an error in guessing what the problem is. Why keep discussing this? Because "word of the day" is a useful screen saver in an educational setting and it is worth the effort to fix it and restore it as a screen saver option. Hoping there is a fix soon.

  • Screen saver bugs

    I am using screen saver on Apple TV with files of photos from my MacBook Air. I have noticed that the screen saver will only show a fraction of the photos. It cycles through maybe 50 photos when the folders have hundreds or thousands of photos. It also continually cycles throught the same photos. I have tried resetting it and changing the folders on my mac. Nothing helps. Any suggestions?

    I had THOUGHT I mentioned Photoshop's file browser, but re-reading I see I only mentioned the version that started having it available....sorry about that, glad you figured it out anyway.
    An added wrinkle is that Image Capture can also read the metadata, and before Tiger it would automatically apply the rotation, which I found very helpful and saved a step in processing photos. However evidently graphic pros complained about this--"Some pixels may be hurt in the uploading of my photos!"--so instead of making this an option you can set yourself the Apple programmers simply changed the code and now Image Capture simply imports "as is" which I find annoying.
    Also initially in Tiger the Finder handled these things rather oddly, displaying the thumbnails that showed the actual state of the pixels and ignoring the metadata on rotation, even though Finder understands it, but that got "fixed" so that the Finder thumbs now display according to the metadata. Of course, this just adds to the confusion since you know you shot in portrait, the Finder displays in portrait, as does Preview, but applications such as screensaver and browsers such as Safari (which don't read metadata) display the actual pixels. At least Photoshop does indicate the situation, once you know what to look for.

  • MacBook Pro can't detect my projector. Only displays screen saver

    Tried connecting Optoma projector to new Macbook Pro. However only the screen saver is being displayed. When I go to Preferences - Displays - just says that no device is detected and gives no options to change anything. Did not have this problem with previous MacBook. Please help.

    Assuming the drive is not defective I would guess you didn't install it properly. Most likely the ribbon cable is not properly connected. You do know you must partition and format the drive? See the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • How do I use a font that a user of my screen saver might not have?

    I am trying to do a little experiment with fonts. I downloaded a font that was not previously installed on my computer, and am trying to make a "Hello, World!" screen saver with that font(which I installed).
    The problem is that I can not even use that font. When I attempt to make a "Hello, World!" screen saver with that font, it uses the default font. Here's the code:
    #import "saverView.h"
    @implementation saverView
    - (id)initWithFrame:(NSRect)frame isPreview:(BOOL)isPreview
    self = [super initWithFrame:frame isPreview:isPreview];
    if (self) {
    [self setAnimationTimeInterval:1/30.0];
    //either my mistake is here:
    hylianFont = [NSFont fontWithName:@"Ancient Hylian - English" size:20];
    attrs = [NSMutableDictionary dictionaryWithCapacity:2];
    //NSForegroundColorAttributeName -- [Color green]
    [attrs setValue:[NSColor greenColor] forKey: NSForegroundColorAttributeName];
    // or it is here:
    [attrs setValue:hylianFont forKey: NSFontAttributeName];
    displayer = [[NSAttributedString alloc] initWithString:@"Hello, World!" attributes:attrs];
    return self;
    //... more stuff I do not use...
    //simply draws "Hello, World!" in green at the top right of the screen.
    //meant to draw it in the different font, but draws it in the standard font.
    - (void)animateOneFrame
    [displayer drawInRect:[self bounds]];
    return;
    @end
    Where did I mistype?

    I think I solved the problem. I just put the font and the screen saver in a pkg file, and make the pkg file install the font. Or I guess I could keep the font in my screen saver and test it that way. Either way, I found the answer.

    Hi all, I'm trying to connect my macbook pro to Sony Bravia tv using Kanex Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Cable with Audio Support , when connected to the HDMI on tv I get a picture of the mac screen saver ( the starburst ) no video/audio,any ideas? thanks, Derek

    Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
    If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
    and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.
    Good luck Derek

  • How can i use iphoto pics on another mac across network for screen saver?

    how can i use iphoto pics on another mac A across the home network for the screen saver on Mac B?

    That's exactly what I tried to do, but the iPhoto librry doesn't show up in the pulldown menu. If I click "Choose Folder", the iPhoto library is greyed out and unable to be selected.
    For some reason, iPhoto is an option in the pulldown library on my older iMac but not on my MacBook Pro. What gives?

    Help! My iPhoto library has disappeared from my screen saver list of choices. I have used it for 5 months.
    How do I get back?

  • How Do I Create a Screen Saver That Uses Shared Photos??

    I have a pretty simple request here, or at least I think it should be pretty simple. My family uses a shared photo stream so that we can all see what everybody is up to without sending a bunch of individual messages.
    I'm going to use a screen saver that displays photos but the tricky part is...I'd like the family's shared stream to be the source for all the photos.
    Previously, I went into iPhoto and just selected all of the photos from the stream, dragged them into a desktop folder, and set this as the source for the screen saver. The only problem with this method is that whenever a new photo is added, it won't show up in the screen saver (obviously). That's why I'd like to set the shared photos as the source.
    Is there a simple way to do this and set the shared photos as the screen saver source??    I would even settle for doing the alternate method that I described in the last paragraph, but I can't even figure out how to do this with the new "Photos" app...
    PLEASE HELP!! Thanks in advance...
    Pete

    Pete, setting the screensaver is a matter of patience, the menus are very slow, if you just set up the system and the spotlight index has still to be recreated.
    But you should be able to it this way:
    Open the Desktop&Screensaver System preferences, select the Screensaver tab.
    In the left pane select a screensaver template for slideshows.
    In the right pane select the Source menu.
    Now wait and have a cup of coffee, while "Loading is showing"
    Then select the last item "Photo Library".
    Wait again, until your current photo libraries are shown.
    Select the Photos library,
    Select the Shared section and your shared family stream.
