Using search function in calendar mode
I can't figure out how to search when I am in calendar mode. I want to look up past and future appointments for the same person, and I can't find a search function on the menu in the calendar mode. Thanks.
Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Press and hold the Home button and the Wake / Sleep button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen (ignore the swipe to turn off message, just keep the buttons pressed).
It can take 10-20 seconds for the Apple Logo to appear ans then you iPad will restart with no loss of data.

Nobody here could possibly answer your question as presented. Have you tried any troubleshooting steps at all?
Quit the app store completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work ... A few more details from you might help you get your problem resolved. -
TS3297 Error when I use search function in itunes store and select an artist
When I use search function in itunes store and select an artist I get this message. Microsoft visual C++ run time library. Prog C:\progfiles\itunes\itunes.exe R6025 - Pure virtual function call . It then shuts down itunes and cannot provide a solution.
Have tried reinstalling itunes but it did not help. Any other ideas?I have yet to find a solution, but as a work around, do not click or select any of the suggested results while you are typing in your search. Type in your search, and press enter.

Having problems using search function on FM forum; no results ever found
I've done searches on topics that I know exist, but I never get any results. I never used to have this problem. Did something change?
fwiw, the forum search functionality (within forums as well as over all the forums) seems to be having issues over the last several weeks. I haven't had any search results for several weeks, tried 3x different browsers.

Cannot search for "@" symbol when using search function
I am trying to create a calculated column which extracts the domain part of an email address. My problem is that no type of search formula (SEARCH or FIND) seems to be able to recognise the "@" symbol so I get an error stating that
"The search TEXT provided to function 'SEARCH' could not be found in the given text"
Even more bizarre is that if I do just a general search in my table (CTRL + F from inside Powerpivot) it cannot find @ symbols either. Could someone please explain why PowerPivot cannot search for the @ symbol (I haven't tested others) and whether there
is a solution?
The formula I was trying to use was:
=SUBSTITUTE(A1, LEFT(A1,FIND("@",A1)),"")
Obviously with A1 replaced by the column name of where my email data is stored.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.Both FIND() and SEARCH() should find the "@" in PowerPivot.
I have done it many times.
You probably have one row in your data set that doesn't contain "@". That will cause the error you describe and if one row in a Calculated Column causes an error, every row has an error if you do nothing to account for it.
Try wrapping your formula in an IFERROR([Your Formula], BLANK()).
This should allow it to run successfully on valid rows and will show a blank on any rows that are causing problems.
Once you identify the problem row (or rows) you can make a decision about how to deal with it. -

If i go to googles page type in what i am searching for and then hit the "search" button in the bottom right of my keyboard it does nothing I have updated my iphone to newest OS 5.1.1 and I have rolled it back to a year ago and nothing works. This is because how Google delivers and implements instant search. If you search for something that isn't in their instant search, the results will not update and you must press the magnifying glass to the right of the search box on Google's web page instead of the search button on Apple's keyboard as it isn't a "Enter/Return" key and that's what Google wants from a keyboard and it's labeled as Search key by Apple.

I generated the webHelp in my computer. But when I use Search
function, I find I can't seach the item I new added. It show "No
topic found", and some item's search results which are independent
of new added are not the same as before. I have no idea about
it.Are the topics in question definitely included in the output
e.g. available in the table contents?
Just thinking that you may have excluded the topics from the
output using conditional tags?

I have an excel file with multiple columns converted to a pdf.
When using search function in adobe reader how do I get search to
return a line of data from what was column a in excel to column f?
Now it returns partial data from one line and then wraps around
to the next line and returns data from that line also.
Any help is greatly appreciated!When it goes from Excel to Acrobat, it "prints" the PDF.
As a printed document, Reader knows no cells, columns or rows. Only text.
I've found that if I export an xls to Word and set it in tables, the printing seems to be more compliant when it's printed to PDF and it's easier to work within the original layout's integrity.
That's the extent of what I can offer. I just don't set many excel workbooks to PDF.
Hopefully there's someone else here with more experience doing this. -
Has anyone else noticed how lame the search function is in Contacts and the other apps? What the deal? Couldn't they have integrated an app that searched the entire memory rather than just the first and second name in Contacts?
Yes, the lack of a search function on Calendar is the ONLY reason I haven't bought an iphone yet. I have over 1000 appointments yearly (I am a psychiatrist), and must be able to search for a name in my appointment calendar. So far, as of July 23, I have seen NO apps at the apps store to address this. ANYBODY out there working on one? Seems a no-brainer. Whoever were to develop such an app would probably corner the app market pretty quickly and robustly. Can a clever app programer come to the rescue please!

when i scroll through the music, i get the nifty little grey box with the letter in it, but how do i get to the search where i use the click wheel to input a query and search through all items in my ipod?Unless your iPod is one of the recently announced upgraded 30GB or 80GB iPods, you don't have the search function. It was not added to existing devices in the recent update. It may or may not be added in some future software update but there's no official word on that.

Is there a way to use the 'search' function outside the search menu
Is it possible, to activate the 'search function' outside the 'search menu' on the iPod classic ? With 30000 songs and more on an iPod, it would be great, if I could use this option i.e. in cover flow, display songs, or display albums. This way, I won't get any blisters on my fingers, from scrolling from "A hard day's night" to "You can't do that".

1. If you just have a few items you don't want included when you shuffle then find them in your library or playlist, pull up the info on the song/book/etc (File menu, Get info option), go to the "Options" tab and click the box that says "Skip when shuffling"
2. If there are a lot of items, then you may want to create a smart playlist (File menu, New Smart Playlist option) and set it up so that it excludes all the items you don't want. Then you can play that playlist on shuffle.
