Using server 2003 as webserver to access shared photos and videos

I have server 2003 installed on HP ML310 runs great. I have about 90gb of pics, vids on a hard drive. i want to be able to access across the WAN from home lan network. I have an ADSL connection 18mbps downstream, i also use a SMoothwall express
for security protection. I know this maybe a bit much to give info on but i need some insight. thanks how do i setup the server to be able to do this?

I dont want to use it as an FTP server, I want to use it as a Webserver so when a user access the server via name or ip address and port they can just view the contents of the pics and videos and open them on the fly. I do not need upload like FTP
does just viewing not editing. I have the IIS component installed and i can acess the shared folder i setup in the IIS properties for my site which i gave a special name via LAN but not from the wan side. here is some more details:
I need some more insight on how to access the server from outside of LAN. I basically installed IIS components including FTP on my server 2003 box. I gave it a name and the server has a static IP address assigned to it. in the smoothie i assigned ports 80,
75 to the server which is 192.168.0.5 under network - incoming setting i put the required info destination ip, port etc. I know what my public IP so i tried it via mobile device with Dolphin browser by putting in
HTTP://publicipaddress:port 75 nothing comes up but when i do it internal across the LAN it works fine i can see the basic directory of the folder that is being shared under inetpub. what am i missing. is it my ATT uverse gateway that is blocking it
? I put the ATT gateway in DMZ mode ( firewall bascially turned off) im not sure if you can even do this with the ATT gateway doesnt seem to work or did i do it wrong in the smoothie ?

I have an Apple TV that is a couple of years old and can't access shared Photo Stream videos. Is this something that only the third generation Apple TV can do? I don't have any problem using an iPad 3, iPhone 5 or 5S to access these videos so I suspect it is a limitation with the older Apple TV. My cousin has a newer Apple TV and can view these videos but I can't see them.

Access historical photos and videos stored within iMessages

Is there a way to access all photos and videos stored within iMessages without having to go through each conversation hitting 'load more' again and again?
For some of my long conversations the messages app crashes after a while returning me to the home screen so I can't view any older messages, videos or photos. It's too cumbersome having to do that anyway. I hope there's a simpler way as my messages storage size has ballooned and needs to be reduced.

Whatsapp allows a detail view for any contact or group where it's possible to view all media exchanged between that contact/group. iMessage should have the same.
iMessage seems to balloon in size quicker too.
Whatsapp/Viber reduce media size/quality so take less space but iMessage doesn't. Each picture is sent full size for example 3-4mb for one taken with the phone! It should give size option like is given when emailing....should be quick implementation too since that already have that functionality.

Cant access my photos and videos on N95

After I installed the latest software update for N95 my cellphone started to act weird. First: everytime I try to access the "gallery" it freeze the cellphone so I cant see my photos and video. Thats VERY annoying and my battery metter can be fully charged and in a few hours all of a sudden my cellphobe start to beep "low battery".
Everytime I try to see a photo my N95 freeze and stop responding and I have 2 options: 1) turn off the cellphone or 2)press the red button(hang up).
When I try to change my photo on MSN Messenger the phone also freeze. Everything that is photo related freeze my cellphone.
I still can take pics and record movies but cant see/watch them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How can I use my iPhone 4 to view my iCloud photo and video files that I had from previous phones?

I want to view my saved to iTunes and or I cloud photos and videos, where do I go to see them and can I do it with my iPhone or do I need a pc?

iTunes is not a photo management application so no photo are saved to iTunes.
By videos, do you mean videos from iTunes or videos created with the iPhone?
If from iTunes, they can be downloaded and played on any iOS device.
If videos created with the iPhone, they are not synced to PhotoStream.
Pictures taken with an iOS device are uploaded to and viewable in PhotoStream on any iOS device, Mac, or Apple TV using the same Apple ID.
It is not currently possible to view a PhotoStream for a different Apple ID, but this will be changing with iOS7.

If I am using my external hard-drive for my time capsule backup can I also use it to additionally store all of my photos and videos?

I need to clear some space on my MacBook and my other 3TB hard drive is formatted for Windows. So far, My 2 TB SP Armor has only been used for my back-ups. Now I am hoping to also house my iPhoto library on there permanently. I am unsure if this is even possible.

If you store your "working" photo library on the Armor drive.......how do you plan to back up the "working" library?
In other words, if the Armor drive failed.......you are planning to have a backup copy of the photo library on another drive, correct?
If not, and the Armor drive fails, you lose your photo library.....because you have no backup on another drive.
So, before you do anything.......it would be wise to ask yourself this question.......if the drive fails that I am working on.....do I have a backup copy on another drive?
A backup plan means that you have two copies of your data......on two different drives. If one fails, you still have the other one.

I have made the switch to MAC from PC and I use Sony cameras/video recorders. I used the Sony PMB program to store all photos and videos. Now I need to transfer my photos and videos over to my MAC and I do not know how to do this as PMB is not supported

When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Do you know where the actual photo files are located on your laptop? If so, you can transfer them to the Mac over a LAN or by saving them to an external HDD, thumb drive or burning them to a disk. Then you can import the photos to the iPhoto app that came on your new Mac.
It would be the same process for the videos, however, it would depend what type of video files they are, as to which Mac app might allow you to view them.
BTW, since your Mac is new you need to Accept the iLife apps; iPhoto, GarageBand and iMovie into your Mac App Store/iTunes account. Open the MAS, sign into you account, go to the Purchased pane and accept the apps.

Windows 7 computers asking for network password to access shared files and printers on Windows XP PRO computer.

I have a network of 10 computers configured as peer-to-peer work group. I have upgraded one of the ten from Windows XP PRO to Windows 7 PRO. The other nine computers are all running XP PRO. AS near as I can tell they are all configured the same. I have the
same user and same passwords on all computers. One of XP computers is used as a print server. The Windows 7 computer initially was able to access shared files and printers on all XP machines with out requesting a network password.
Suddenly, the Win 7 computer began requesting a network password to access the shared files and printers on the XP print server. It will not accept any of the user names or passwords (all administrators on both machines with identical names and passwords.)
The Win 7 computer has no problem accessing the shared files on the other XP machines. It can even access shared printers in a different work group. Apparently something has changed but I'm at my wits end trying to figure what changed on either the Windows
7 machine or the print server XP machine.

On the Windows 7 computer, go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings” and ensure that the
following items are turned ON:
Network Discovery
File and printer sharing
And this one is OFF:
Password protected sharing

Temporarily disable or remove all the security software (firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, etc.) on the computers and check if it works.

I can't access shared drives and printers

My home has been wired with ethernet cables, so there are ethernet jacks in every room. There is one central place where they all the ethernet cables meet to connect to a hub and a cable modem. At this central place I have a D-Link 802.11g router connected to the hub. At the other end of my home I have a Airport Extreme base station connected to an ethernet jack. I have WEP password on the base station.
My problem is that when there is a password on the base station I can't access shared drives and printers. I can only acces them if I am connected with a wire or I connect to the secured (password) D-Link Wifi router that is connected directly to the hub.
What do I need to do to be able to access the shared drives and printers and keep my base station secured?

Whether or not you can access devices on your cabled network via the Airport Base Station is not dependent on whether or not wireless security is configured on that base station. Instead, it requires disabling the router built into the Base Station. See the article ABS as a wireless access point

How can I access photos and videos saved to the iCloud? I backed up my iphone to the Cloud but now the files are nowhere to be found.
I had to reset all content and settings in order to troubleshoot an issue. Before I did this, I backed up the iphone to icloud. When I reprogrammed the phone, I had to set it up as a new device and individually sync apps and other items from itunes. But by doing this, I somehow lost some videos and can't seem to find where they would have been saved/backed up. Can anyone offer any guidance?

You can't view photos and videos on icloud (except for shared photo stream pics). iCloud merely sync photos between devices using the stream. If you don't have photo stream turned on, then the only place photos in the camera roll are located are in a backup. You would have to restore from the backup. But be warned that many users have ended up losing their photos when performing a restore, for whatever reason.
What you should do in the future is always sync photos/videos to a computer for storage, don't leave them on a device or trust icloud to somehow store them.

Advice for recovering from "The requested URL was not found on this server" error when browsing photos and videos on my iPhone 4S IOS5.1

Im not quite sure how I got into this situation but I have fried my Iphone app photo and video library. This demonstrates itself in 2 ways
1. The above error message when I attempt to play videos older than a certain date.
2. Photos older than a certain date - appear to be grainy suggesting that only the thumbnails are on the phone, and the full resolution photos have been blitzed.
This coruption may have occured as I have replaced my Iphone 2 times in the last few months for various reasons, where each time I have restored them both using back ups I have made using icloud. (I havent made an Itunes back up since the iclod came around)
In reading the support forums - it suggest to restore from a back up version. Is anyone aware if selectively restoring media content from an icloud back up is possible.
I have 2 Back Up versions on icould.
1- 13.5 GB
2- 7.2 GB
My hope is that the earlier 13.5 GB version has content I am looking for.
I am kicking myself for not making the occassional itunes back up, or at least use Image capture as a more secure way of ensuring my personal content is not lost. (I am loosing faith with icould).
Can someone suggest a good workflow for restoring from a cloud back up. I have already downloaded the most recent photos using image capture onto my mac.

Progress Update.
I made a back of what existing phtos and Videos I had on my Iplhone. I used Image capture to do this making an entire back up of photos and videoa that were still intact on the phone.
Image capture is god for this purpose, as it does exactly what you ask it to do without applying any rules or squishing the files back into iphote (which might also be corupted)
Image capture wil do the basic function of retriving the contents of the phone and save them as native files on your hard drive.
Once I did this I erased my iphone, and re intitialised it restoring an older back up from icloud.
As the retore was happneing - I did retreive the missing files that cuased the intial beviour as above, and I could play the videos that were missing in the above scenerio. The wierd ting was however that even though the source files were now back on the device, the thumbnail previews were missing. Where I ahd balck thumb nails for server portions of the resotred content.
I then went to bed as the restore is a long process. When I woke up the library had library had cleaned itself up. Mysteriously the prcess had deleted the files missing the their thumbnails.
This is very perculiar and bad behavior.
I am now repeating the process, and will attempt to download the missing content as it is restored and prior to the phone trying to fix itself.
Here are the lessons learned.
DO NOT rely on Photo Stream to keep back ups and synchornise videos from you IOS device. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS CAPBILITY
DO NOT rely on iCloud Back Up alone - always fd an occassional iTunes back up or more reliably still always take a back up of photos and video files using Image Capture to be doubly sure that you a have backd up any content.
DO THIS NOW - dont wait to loose your phone ofr have your phone repaired by replacement at the apple Store. (I did both :-(
