Using Simple Transformation for content extraction

Hello,
Does someone know a solution for a simple and fast transformation to extract (text) content from an arbitary xml document. Only the text-values between two xml elements are needed to perform a search.
The corresponding behavior in XSL looks as follows (but lasts too long):
<xsl:transform xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:sap="http://www.sap.com/sapxsl" version="1.0">
<xsl:output method="text"/>

The result could be a table with "strings" in each row or a concatenated string.
If someone can provide an ABAP regular expression (or a function module) fullfilling the same task I would be happy to.

In SE11 I have created a Table type 'ZCOMPETENCIES' which is having a line type 'ZLANGS'.

How to use joiner transformation for 3 sources?

Hi,
I want to use joiner transformation to join my 3 source tables (t1, t2, t3).
When I look at the joiner transformation it only has INGRP1 and INGRP2 for two sources. How do I use it for third source for joining? I dont see INGRP3 so that I could drag my third source in to the joiner.

Can also break the join down into a number of joins which has advantage sometime if part of the join can be reused or you want to (in 11gR2) use different data movement technology for that set of operators. There are 2 illustrations here one with 2 joiners for 3 tables the other with one joiner which has 3 groups;

Simple Transformation for XML created by Excel

Excel can produce XML files quite easily in this documented format:

Would I use the transformer for this?

Here is what I want to do, I'm hoping someone can tell me how to do it.
I would like to pan a (16th note) synth sound from one speaker to the other very rapidly. I've thought about just automating the pan settings, but the problem is I can't get the pan to come before the note. I could use two audio instrument channels but isn't it possible using the transformer to somehow tell logic where to send the data?

You could sequence a bunch of notes, then use the transformer to convert that directly into fader pan data, for nice quantised values.
Or you could draw in the pan data using automation over 1 beat, then use the Track Automation Folder or Automation Event editor to copy the data for as long as you need.
Lots of other ways to skin this cat as well, as so often the case in Logic.

Why not use Fourier transforms for filtering?

Are there any resources for constructing filters using discrete Fourier transforms (DFTs)? Or is it as easy as it seems. For example, for lowpass filtering I obtain the DFT of my signal, zero out components above the selected cutoff frequency and then transform back to get my signal minus the high frequency (noise) components. It seems to behave correctly for the signal I've applied it to, but am I missing something. Upsides would appear to be (1) no time delay between the input and output and (2) the filter is sharp with no transition band. Downside is that this method is slower than using impulse filters, but are there other upsides, downsides, or considerations I'm missing?

The technique of filtering using frequency domain truncation and IFFT is used in specific areas where computation time is essential (to avoid the time domain convolution with a long impulse response), like image processing. However the technique also has some downsides you should be aware of.
The frequency domain filtering performed on a data record is totally equivalent to a circular convolution made on your time signal with the impulse response of your ideal low-pass filter (typically a sin(x)/x function). The fact what we are doing a circular convolution will result in unwanted artifacts and you'll see some "parts" of the beginning of your signal at the end of the filtered signal and vice-versa.
Try for example to create a short signal (like a sharp pul
se) and extend it with zeros. After filtering you will see a sort of "pre-shoot" of your original signal at the very end of your signal. If you then rotate your time signal you'll discover that the signal is actually continuous (in a circular way).
You can reduce the problem by, for example, adding "some" zeros at the beginning and at the end of your signal (zero-pad) before your filtering operation (before the FFT) and then remove these additional samples again from you filtered signal (after the IFFT).

How to use HMLT files for content management

I am developing an application where i have to do some content management. i am
using placeholders for it. things work great with image files but when i upload
contents as html files with images, the text content is diaplayed, but since the
img tag does not get the path of the images, the images r not render. can anybody
help me to do the content management with the html files with images.

unfortunately running it through Adobe Encoder makes it a much, much larger file and the quality goes out the window. i really need to use .mov.
any suggestions?

Using simple database for an application

Hello,
Here is my need :
I will develop an application based on two or three gui-clients java based and a database (all on linux based system).
What choice for the database ?
First I had a look on javadb, I was interested by the easy to use aspect and the embedded mode. But I have two applications that have to access the database in the same time and javadb has to be used in a "framework server" to accept multi-user (and this seems to be too complex for my use).
The database will be very simple (4 or 5 tables and 1000 lines in the biggest table) and has to be shared between 2 ou 3 apps.
I had a look on SQLite but the use of JNI obstructs me.
Do you have other ideas to answer to my need ? Is there a way to share the file system where the data files of javadb is (by NFS for example) ? And start two derby service using the same files in two different JVM ?

I have used HSQLDB for awhile. I have found it to be very useful, though I've mostly used it for simple, read-only databases. Definitely what I would recommend for your situation.

Finally, i've got the reason. If somebody has the same problem, just change the encoding manually into a string.
replace first occurrence of 'utf-16' in ld_xmlstr with 'windows-1251'.

Group columns in Excel using XSLT simple transformation

Hi All,
I have to group a few columns in the excel so that they can be expanded or collapsed. I am transforming an internal table into XML using Simple transformation. In this XSLT, I need to add the code to group the particular columns together in the final excel.
Can any one please help me in acheiving the columns grouped together.

Hi Vishnu, I am also using simple transformations (not XSLT) to create XML excel from SAP data. I always create a template excel workbook from excel by saving it as XML file. This XML can be pasted into the SAP transformation without completely understanding the Microsoft excel syntax. The dynamic SAP data then can be included to the XML in the transformation.

Your XML is strange, it looks like a mix of pdf form content (xfa) and identity transformation (asx).
Could you explain more ?
Anyway, I tried to find out the errors (not only cx_st_match_element, that was just a catch missing), it works with the following program. Here are the main issues I have found :
- always catch exception class cx_st_error when you use simple transformations (it contains cx_st_match_element and all other simple transformation exceptions)
- xml "asx:abap" and "asx:values" in your input XML are useless, they are only used by identity transformation ("ID"); you may keep them if you want, but I advise you to see why they are in the xml !
- Use same case in your tags (if xml contains in the transformation so that it corresponds to the input XML
- I renamed all abap names with prefix ABAP_ so that to clearly differentiate xml tags and abap field names (so that it is more easy to understand, for every sdn reader; I hope it will help as I didn't find many threads in the forum).
