Using Siri to text

When my wife uses Siri to text me, it sends the message to my iPad 2 as an imessage rather than my phone (a Blackberry). Any idea why this happens and how to change it?

Siri won't try to send an iMessage to a person who doesn't have a device with iMessage enabled.
If you open Messages, and select the same person with the keypad it should default to Text and not iMessage. That's exactly what will happen when Siri tries to send the message.
I just tried this on my phone to someone who doesn't have an iPhone and it worked exactly that way.

When my phone is locked, why can I still use Siri to call and text?

So basically yesterday I was playing around on the lock screen with Siri.. And I noticed i can still call, text and search the Internet from the lock screen. Is this supposed to be possible? or a bug Apple have missed in the current version IOS? I only ask because surely if I lose my phone, any random member of the public could potentially use my phone to dial any number they wish.. even call abroad and run a phenomonly high phone bill very quickly.
Not having a moan just suprised it's possible to do this.. What's the point of a security lock code / fingerprint scanner if anyone can pick up my phone and use it?

So, when you're using Siri, how are you activating it? By pressing the Home Button?
Do you have Touch ID enabled?
Are you using a finger on the Home Button that is enrolled in the Touch ID?

Problems using Siri to send text message

hi im having problems using Siri to send text messages on my iPhone 5.
When i try to send a message using Siri to somebody who does not own a iPhone Siri defaults the message to a iMessage instead of a standard text message, which then causes a message failure because the other person does not have a iPhone.
I have the setting turn on in the Messages setting to send as Text Message when iMessage is not avaliable but Siri still defaults the message to a iMessage and does not send it as a standard text message and results in a message failure.
am i doing something wrong or am i missing something?

Old contacts showing up in siri and text search results but not in contacts list.

So what I did was this. I had mobile me, and iphone ocntacts as well as contacts on phone. After updating to IOS5, i had tripples of almost all my contacts (but not all). I converted my mobile me to icloud to discover i couldnt use that email under my new official icloud accoutn as my @me.com adress. So what i did was this. I deleted my old mobile me (now icloud account) compleatly from my phone, my iPad and my computer so there is no trace of it. I then went to my new iCloud account (that i will now use as my only icloud account. going to let the old mobile me one just die so i have 1 central spot for all my stuff). Now all my contacts are gone. So to start fresh and just be done with the confusion, i go to www.icloud.com and manually (by hand) re type in all my contacts. I updated some info and changed some names (like nicknames and stuff like that to real names). Basiclly compleatly organizing my contacts and such to the way i want them. Getting rid of poeple i no longer talk to and such. I did it, it syned and all was well. However now here is hte problem.
If i go to spotlight search, or text search, or search with siri, or any type of search function, all of my old contacts are still there and viewable. All the ones i wanted to get rid of are all still there. However, if i go to contacts and look for thoes old contacts, they are not in the contact list (yes iv checked every "group" and also "all contacts" in groups). What i want is to figure out how to get all of these old contacts compleatly deleated so they dont show up anywere on my phone. Especially with siri its making searches and auto calling more difficult because its finding two contacts sometimes that are the same person and asks me to distinguish instead of jsut calling. CAn anybody help?
Sorry for the wall of text, wanted to make sure to give as much info on the specifics as possible so hopefully i can get this resolved. Is this a bug or something i did wrong? can i fix it or do i just have to wait for an update?

Iv since upgraded to iphone 4S and still happening. Also this does NOT happen on my iPad. Only my iPhone.

Talked to AppleCare for about an hour. After trying many steps: deleting contacts, re downloading from cloud, disabling Siri and re enabling, even Reset all Settings. Nothing worked. Ended up having to restore the phone via Erase All Content and Settings. That of course fixed it.
Not sure what the issue was. I did have a Mobile Me account before the iCloud migration. For some reason, my contacts would appear in Contacts on the phone and in the cloud only once, but when using Siri it would list 2 or 3 duplicate contacts. Also after we deleted all the contacts on the phone, did an iPhone reset (Home and On/off buttons), my contacts list would show empty. Then I would click on Groups and poof all of a sudden duplicate or triplicate contacts would be in the contacts list.

This sounds like an international issue? Although I can not see why? I brought my phone in Australia and operating it in Indonesia, I have the same issues.... Otherwise Siri works fine, even texting (SMS) to local numbers siri works well, but dialing local number it just wont work...! I will try using my Australian SIM card and see if that is the reason.. I tried changing the number in the contacts and took out the international prefix, I turned the international assist on and off still nothing.. How frustrating. I called apple, the technican had know idea and we to his supervisor, had to wait fro 40 miuntes and then I hung up..

I can't use siri and vocal recognition on sms

hi,
i've upgraded my iphone 6 to 8.3 and i have problem.
microphone works well on phone calls and vocal note, but i can't use siri and vocal recognition on sms text.
i must SCREAM at 1cm from microphone and siri understand 20% of what i say, if i speak at normal volume and from a standard distance (20/30cm) siri (and sms) doesn't undrstand anything.
any idea?

Problem when using Siri.

I got my iPhone 4S yesterday. Sometimes when I use Siri, when the phone is locked, the screen goes blank and Siri can't understand the word 'boo'. My boyfriend's contact name is Boo Boo, when I say 'text boo boo' she doesn't understand. Is anyone experiencing these problems?

Siri is a beta product and as such will have issues.
Seems a simple enough fix would be to update the contact info with your boyfriends actual name.

How can i use Siri without Internet connectivity?

Siri doesn't work without Internet.
I was in a situation yesterday, when i was driving and have to call my Dad.
Due to the bad weather, data services were down and when i used Siri to call my Dad's number, its just said "Siri not available, please connect to Internet"
I can understand, that for Weather details, Web search etc, Internet is required, but at least Siri should handle in-phone features like "calling, Texting etc", without Internet connectivity.

Even though it seems like Siri should be able to handle things such as dialing a number or dictating a text, an internet connection is required for Siri to function. There is currently not a way to get Siri to do otherwise.

Can't open app using Siri whilst driving

I've got a BMW that uses Siri Eyes Free.
I can read and send texts OK but if I try to open an app I get told that Siri can't do that whilst I'm driving.
I'm not trying to do anything that would distract me from driving - I just want to listen to an audio book and so I'm trying to open Audible.
Is this a "feature" of ios?

Siri opens apps just fine.
I hit the button, tell Siri open audible.
Audible app opens.
Tell Siri play that Mitchell and Webb sound, which is in the music app under audiobooks, it opens and starts playing.
I believe the problem is with the car system.

Siri: Send text to name not working

OK, this is a strange one that has me stumped. I use Siri all the time, love it, but starting last week after I backup/erased/restored my phone in preparation of iOS 8, something strange is happening.
When I say to Siri "Send text to <name>", the confirmation on the screen says "Send text to <name>", then Siri creates the text message with the content being <name> and says "Who do you want me to send this text to?". I can say the name, but I then have to change the text messsage too.
This has never happen before.
My work around is to simply say "send text" and then Siri prompts me through everything, but this is annoying and adds extra steps.

iOS 8 (but happened on iOS7 before I installed the update)
Doesn't matter what name I use
I have tried to delete the previous messages, doesn't help
Doesn't matter if I say "to my wife" or my wife's name (Did this to check if that would be a work around).
Any suggestions?

Use siri in lockscreen, Loud sound

After i'm using siri in lockscreen, The volume sound to unlock the iPhone 4s is very loud.
Is that normal? or am i'm the only one?

It hasn't been corrected for me. It's been going on for months and I am running 5.1.1 and so is my husband The mic (speech to text) makes all alert sounds LOUD while the sound is playing, sometimes continues even if you kick out of the mic. It's awful.
My husband's behaves slightly differently. His is rather random - it didn't get louder when turning the mic ON but then got louder when he turned it OFF... and then he hit the 'back/delete' button the keyboard, it totally shut off the sound entirely.

Help! I no longer have any sound when I try to use siri!

A couple days ago, I went to use Siri and you know how it makes the sound when you start it? No sound. I had the sound up high and everything. I can still ask things, but I get no reply back. I tried turning siri off, rebooting my phone, but still nothing. I restored it to factory setttings, and there is still no sound when I use Siri. Help?
