Using Skype and iOS 5

I use to watch movies on Netflix and talk to my bf at the same time on skype, since we're often apart. Since the update anytime I open any app with audio Skype crashes. Any ideas?

Please be very careful when using third party software and allowing it access to your computer, iPhone/iPod and their applications. I've forwarded your feedback to our iOS product team.
Apple does not allow easily to integrate with the device's ringtone menu to avoid malicious applications interfering with the iPhone's core calling functions. There might be a work around though.

Mac Freezes When Using Skype and Watching Video

I have a Mac (OS X Ver. 10.6.8 Build 10K549) with 4 GB Memory and 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3 Processor. My Mac freezes, and requires a hard reset. **Everything** freezes, keyboard and mouse click no longer works. Sound may continue. This happens all the time I use **Skype** and sometimes when I watch **video** online. This happened before when I was using Mavericks. It reached to a point that I could not use my Mac. I basically installed **Snow Leopard** back again. Problem was solved until the last two days. I deleted and re-installed Skype. This did not solve the issue. Unfortunately, I could not find a solution to my problem after a research in these pages. Thanks.

I had the same problem but it seemed to stop after I installed a program called Caffeine that prevents your Mac from automatically going to sleep, dimming the screen or starting screen savers. I haven't had a freeze-up as long as I have it enabled.

Can't use Skype and PhotoBooth at the same time?

I recently updated my Skype to the new version. I used to be able to have my camera on PhotoBooth and Skype working at the same time, however since I made the update I cannot. Depending on which programme I open first, the other will not work. If Skype is working, then the error message 'Camera offline' comes up. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype and that has not solved the issue. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Are you using a MobileMe IMAP account or another provider and account? Is problem when using the Apple Mail application in OS 10.4.11 on your listed G5?

Hello, my name is Silvio Tavares, I'm from Brazil and the company where they work bought the Adobe Flash Media Server 5 to make the transmission of the station for the Website as well as for Android and iOS.
I followed your tutorial step by step and nothing more than 20x ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p27xavIWQA ) .... When I try to run the transmission in Sample Video Player he simply says I'm having a problem with my playback.
Is there anything else to be done?
Please know it must be very busy, but my job depends on it working here.
I am using Windows Server 2012.
In this tutorial does not say you have to configure any file, only the conf.xml Adone Media Live Encoder.
Please help me!

HT4534 I installed facetime on my computer in May 2011. It worked great at first,but now the volume goes out when I am on calls.What can I do to stop this from happening? Its not my speakers,I have used Skype and Google+ and the volume never goes out.

The volume on my facetime goes out very frequently. I can hear the person just fine, but they can not hear me. I have checked my app store to see if there have been any updates to the version of facetime that I bought in May 2011 and it's not. Is there anything that I can do to fix this problem?
By the way it is not my speakers. I have used Google+ and Skype, and they both work just fine and the volume does not go out.

Thanks, it seems that it doesn't like to play games, which is a bit of a bummer as i bought this specifically because it was capable of doing that. To be fair, it is capable... I just need to get used to a sound like sitting by a washing machine on spin cycle... Wish they would make people aware of this in the Apple Store, its very misleading and not at all desireable.

Exactly this is what I intend to do. Generally it is possible, some friends of mine using onboard sound are able to speak in Skype and in Teamspeak at the same time.
I myself use a Soundblaster Audigy Gamer - and I *can't* use both applications at the same time. I'm quite sure that it's possible since I once had a SB Li've running Half-Life ingame voicechat as well as Teamspeak at the same time. This is essentially the same: two programs open the same DirectSound input device at the same time.
I haven't found an option in the Audigy driver settings, neither my knowledge database search nor my forum search was a success.
How do I make my Audigy work like this?

Yes, data used over 3G counts as data against your allowance.

Share screen using Skype and DVD

I am using Mac Book Pro with Yosemite. I need to teach using a DVD movie and Skype.
When I share the screen and click on the DVD I get a gray screen showing on the other
computer (PC Windows 7) I have not tried this with any other computer. I need to work this out soon!

ON a mac for sharing movies or anything else for that batter all you need to do is turn file sharing on in you system preferences. then click the options and check sbm. Then click in the box for you macbook . You'll be asked to inter your password. Then close and go to top of screen under go and click on connect to server. if the file sharing is on in the windows computer a pop up will show with that computer on it . select it and then you need to inter the name and password for the windows computer. I am not familiar with how to set up the windows computer for file sharing. I have never used, tried or even head of using skype to share a movie.

My mic is not recording my voice. I tried using Skype and another recording app and there is only static.

The mic on my ipad2 is not picking up my voice. I tried Skype and quick memo and all that records is static.

It sounds like you have an internal problem with your iPad. It could be a loose microphone connection.
The only thing I can think of that might help, is to reset (reboot) the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep button for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
I suspect this will not correct your problem, but is worth a try. You probably need to show it to an Apple Store Genius. You may get a new iPad on the spot.
If there is no Apple Store near you, search for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. In the US, <United States>. Outside the US, <http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1434>.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT USE SKYPE (and where to file co...

Approximately two weeks ago, my account was blocked for no apparent reason.
I contacted customer support and they didn't know why it was blocked, but told me to go through the account verification process. I asked to speak to someone on the phone to discuss this but was ignored. Then, within 48 hours I suddenly received a NEW email telling me that my account was blocked PERMANENTLY (funnily enough THEY CHARGED ME $25 USD for SKYPE CREDIT before blcoking me!!!). I want to make sure ALL PEOPLE KNOW about the absurd practices of Skype. I am now out $25 USD and permanently locked out my account forever. WHere can we file complaints? Better BUsiness Bureau? I have contacted my rep numerous times on how to overturn this and he just ignores me saying nothign can be done. this is absurd!!

I would like to be able to do a tour guide for a Filipino friend of mine that is living in the Cayman Islands. I want to be able to talk to her through skype as usual but be able to control her Google maps from my screen here in the US. I would like to be able to show her my town's places of interest. She's never been to the US and this idea might be the closest she will ever be if I can make it work.

There should be a plus when you are in call with her on the call screen. Click on that, then you should see "Share screens"
Click on Share screens, you should then be able to choose share desktop or share window. Share desktop means that she can see everything you do on any window or any tab. Share window means she can only see a certain program, even if you can't. Select what you want to do, then click start. You should see a red border around where you are sharing.
PS, if you are using a program e.t.c and it is in full screen, make sure it is windowed or borderless window

Ive got an imac from 2008 and MBPr from 2013. the imac does indeed receive regular calls but the newer mac, the MBPr from 2013 does not.

i got it. I fixed it by setting Time Zone in automatically in both iphone and MBC
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences > Date & Time > Date & Time.
Enable "Set Automatically".
Click the Time Zone tab and confirm the closest city is correct.
do the same in the iphone and it will work

Cannot use Skype and YouTube on 40RL838 in Serbia

Hi!
Not sure is this for Firmware or general....
First, why when I switch settings to Serbia I cannot access to YouTube - simply not available in menu?? I have to switch to Germany or UK in order to access to YT.
Also, when I try to run Skype in Toshiba Places menu, all I get is "UNABLE TO LOAD" cannot find file file://Customer/Skype.html etc....
Yes, I did try to update firmware and it is up to date and TV was reset after update...
Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem here in Cyprus (not a Balkan country, but still East Europe).
The strange thing is that when I bought the TV (June 2012) YouTube was operating perfectly on Toshiba Places.
No need to switch to other country or anything like that.
However, in late August, YouTube stopped working .
Everything else (i.e. Daily Motion) does work however.
This issue has to be resolved by Toshiba, as it does not seem to be a local thing.
It seems to affect the whole of East Europe.
As you understand competition on Smart TVs is fierce, so not offering YouTube on a Smart TV (at least in some parts of the world) is just unacceptable!

My 13-Inch MacBook Pro has been experiencing heat problems while I go on to applications such as Safari, Word and Skype. It's never done this before.

Skype is the one giving you problems.....
When sitting at idle, Skype can use as much as 90% of your CPU's resources. The reason I know this is because I use Skype and have to shut it down once the fans start spinning and my Macbook starts getting hotter.
Another solution is to downgrade Skype one version down. That seems to work for a few people.
