Using Skype To Go on Android phone

When making a call using Skype To Go, do we use the phone's dial pad or do we open the Skype app and dial from there?

1. When I call a Skype contact who has no phone number and who is logged into their computer while I am calling from my Verizon Skype To Go app in the US, I expect Verizon to keep track of my time as if I was calling from the US to a US phone number, no matter where the contact happens to be located, right?
2. The result will be for me to use US Verizon minutes and my Skype plan will incur no additional cost for the call from the US to Canada.  Right?
Hello,
1. I believe so but please check with Verizon.
2. Yes - correct.

I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

Bad move. POP only stores the email wherever it last is checked.  It does not keep anything back at the internet provider unless you tell it to.  IMAP is far better for storing email centralized on the internet provider, and copying it to local folders on your Mac.  The phone likely won't copy it onto itself, if it is an iPhone, as the iPhone uses the same mail as the iPad.  But at least that will keep a backup on the server until you are ready to check it on your Mac.

  • Skype not working on Android phone

Since installing the latest Skype version onto my Android phone, the application will not load, and always gives the message " The application Skype (process com.skype.raider) has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again.  I have reinstalled Skype about 10 times now, and same message over and over.  The previous version of Skype worked great on the Android.
10/6:  We debugged further and found that Skype will not come up on the phone as long as the wired headset is plugged in.  I have to disconnect the headset, and then Skype comes up.  But if you connect the wired headset, then Skype will present that "stopped unexpectedly" message.  So there is an incompatibility between the latest version of Skype with the wired headset?  Why???  It should support it.  The previous version of Skype worked fine on my Android phone WITH the headset.
I hope a fix will be provided immediately.

    hey guys....
the way to get skyp to work is by CLEARING YOUR DATA from the app.
ive got an htc evo 4g...so i goto to settings, applications, manage applications, then i find skype, and then i press the CLEAR DATA button.
after that youll be able to login just fine...
i have no idea why you have to do that to make it work...you just do, lol...
and, youll have to do it relatively often...again, i have no idea why...
newaz, that shold take care of your login issues....gl!

  • Skype never rings on Android phone

I tend to keep Skype signed in on my computer and phone. The problem is that incoming calls only ever ring on my computer. Even when the computer is off and my phone is the only device signed in, Skype never rings on the phone. It just gives me a notification afterwards about a missed call.
I've seen a lot of similar posts, but haven't come across one with a solution. Is there a way to force Skype to ring on my phone, or better yet on all devices simultaneously? Or is this unfixable?
I'm paying for an incoming Skype number, and it's pretty much useless if it won't ring. I plan to cancel soon if there's no solution.
The phone is a Huawei Y300 using Skype version 4.5.0.39600.

    Hi CSPQ,
I had a problem similar to yours with Skype 4.5. Reverting to this more reliable older Skype 4.0.0.22082 version, resolved the problem for many of us with smart-phones. Others, usually with tablets, reported that Skype 3.2.0.6673, better suited their needs. If you have a smart-phone, tap the link of the former Skype, or the latter if you have a tablet. If your first choice does not meet your needs, the other would be worth trying.
Before tapping the downloaded apk file to install the selected Skype, uninstall the current Skype, disable the Play Store “Auto-update apps” option, and enable the Android Settings (from) “Unknown sources” option. Once installed, disable the “Unknown sources” option. Be sure to try any future Skype release, indicated by a change of release date on the Google Play Store Skype “UPDATE” page. If the new Skype is unsatisfactory, revert to the older Skype using the saved apk file.
You can choose an even earlier Skype version if you feel that this would be beneficial. To date. I have not experienced any security problems with any of the above web links. Please be sure to post another reply to let me know how you go with the installation. I should be able to help you if you encounter difficulties.
If you have not already done so, you should create a good Android issue report here to help Skype improve future versions. I am sure that a Private Message to Claudius, letting him know where your report is, would be a nice surprise, and really make his day

  • Using Skype-to-go as a phone home alternative from...

Hi all, just some quick questions. Can I use skype-to-go on any mobile, basic included? Can I set up multiple skype-to-go numbers? Do I need wi-fi to be able to make a call or will the local broadcasting network work and finally, will it always cost the same to phone the UK no matter where I am? Pre-emtive thanks!

It costs you what a local call costs you plus the skype cost see the rates for this. Useful if you have inclusive minutes. Otherwise check your Voda rates to see the per minute calling cost.

  • Can a wireless printer be used to print from an android phone without internet connection?

I'm trying to print invoices at a trade show from my Android phone.  Are there any wireless printers that can do that without an internet connection?  Does ePrint only work with an internet connection?

To print from your Android phone, you would need the HP ePrint Home & Biz app available for free from the Google Play store.
As for printing without an internet connection, your options are somewhat limited.
First thing you would want to do is make sure that you have a printer that is compatible with the ePrint Home & Biz app. A list of supported printers can be found here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile/Cloud-Services-Supported-Printers-ePrint-Airpr...
You next step would be to get a wireless router. You don't necessarily need an internet connection, just a router broadcasting a wireless signal. After you have the printer set up, you would want to connect it wirelessly to the router. Then you would want to connect your Android device to the same router. This will put both the printer and phone on the same network.
As long as both devices are on the same network, the ePrint Home & Biz app will search the network for compatible printers and your printer should show up in the list, allowing you to use the app to send print jobs to it.
However if you want to use the actual ePrint service, you will have to have an active internet connection. The way ePrint works is that your printer is assigned an email address and when you send something to that email address, it prints off on your printer. If the printer does not have an active internet connection, it has no way of reaching the servers and the print jobs will not print off. You actually wouldn't even be able to set up ePrint without being on an active internet connection.
Hope that helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Using Skype on internet enabled smart phone

I just set up a free Skype account to use from my home computer. Can I use this same Skype account via my internet enabled smart phone (Android operating system) or do I need a new Skype account?

Hi, Rescue11rfd, and welcome to the Community,
Of more importance is to check ahead with the cruise line to ensure they will permit the use of Skype at all!  Many cruise lines impose limits on their WiFi services due to bandwidth restrictions and other issues related to their satellite uplink systems.

  • How do I use Firefox OS on my Android Phone?

I am MTV Volt by Swipe Telecom which runs on android platform.
I want to use Firefox OS on my mobile. How can I do this?

    Hi jashankhalsa,
Firefox OS is an entire operating system. The only way to run Firefox OS is to purchase a device that comes with it, or manually porting it to a specific device - which can brick your phone and is only advised for advanced users.
However, you can download and run the Firefox browser that is available for Android in Google's Play store. =)

How come when I use USB to connect my Android phone (Samsung gs2), two (2) "No Name" folders open up on the desktop?
I only want one, but it seems to be splitting my phone into two folders?

Unfortunately not.  They are almost identical: both have dozens of files/folders, most are repeats, but there are some small differences - nothing glaring (almost seems random).

I need to access and use Skype from overseas, and am considering buying a a Chinese phone called the X10.  It's an unlocked quad-band GSM phone - which is fine - supports GPRS & WiFi, but is not 3G. It supports Java but is not Android.  Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in features that will allow Skype use, and what I should avoid? Many thanks.  Steve
You probably want an Android or iPhone for use with the Skype mobile apps.  Phones with the Symbian operating system - mostly Nokia phones - can also use a Skype app, but lacks some of the features available in the Android or iPhone versions.  If you are able to confine your use to Skype to WiFi, not having 3G or 4G/LTE on your mobile phone is probably not an issue.
I have a Nokia N8 mobile phone, which uses the Symbian operating system.  Nice phone, compatible with GSM/UMTS networks around the world.  The Skype app for it is not great, but works on WiFi or 3G data networks.  What I ended up doing was also purchasing an iPod Touch, which is compatible with apps for the iPhone, and a WiFI hotspot app for my N8.  Then I use Skype on the iPod, connecting to the Internet through the N8's hotspot app via WiFi.  It takes two devices in this case to use Skype, but I'm making use of the better Skype app on the iPod over the N8.  Or I can just use the iPod if I have access to WiFi wherever I happen to be.
    Hope that helps!

Skype 5.5 for Android: Easier to Use = More Time to Chat
Today we’redelighted to announce Skype 5.5 for Android. In this release, we put extra focus on improvements that will make the app even easier to use, so you can spend more time chatting and sharing with people you care about most.
Simplified flow to sign back in
With the improvements we’ve made to battery use and notifications, you can comfortably leave Skype running on your Android devices without signing out. However, for those of you who still want to sign out, we’ve made it easier for you to sign back into the app. Skype now remembers your log-in details so you won’t need to. Just one tap on the arrow, and you’re in and ready to send IMs or make calls. You can also change the setting so thepassword is required every time you sign in. While signed in, just tap on the menu icon “...

Since updating, I've been locked out of both of my group chats, and messages in one on one chats are delayed horribly, both sending and receiving. I'll get an alert that a friend has sent me a message, open it, and nothing will be there. Messages that I send show up as pending for as long as half an hour. With group chats, I'll get alerts, but opening them will just lead me to the "recent chats" screen and the chat in question won't be there. There's nothing wrong with my internet/data connection, and all my other internet based apps work fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype and restarting my phone, but the problem persists.

Can I use Skype on my Kyocera Hydro Vibe Android phone?

Hello, it depends on what version Android OS you have,
    - https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10328/what-are-the-system-requirements-for-skype
To run the latest version of Skype for Android (Skype 5), you'll need to have Android OS version 4.0 or above. If you're running Android OS 2.3 and above, you can run Skype 4 for Android. You will also need to know what type of processor your device has. If you're not sure, check the device's user manual, or contact its manufacturer. For the following processors:
ARMv7 processors (or processors capable of running its instruction set): Skype is fully supported.
ARMv6 processors: Skype can run on these devices but video calling is not supported. Examples of ARMv6 processor devices: Samsung Galaxy Ace, HTC Wildfire.
