Using Skype While Deployed

My spouse deployed a month ago and we heard that you could use Blackberry Messenger overseas for free, so I went into the store and asked about it and was told that it was, in fact, true, but now we are being charged roaming fees, atleast $50 for just a few days. I called VZW to find out about this and the lady I talked to said that it would be cheaper to sign up for a Skype international deal and that I SHOULDN'T be charged for roaming fees. I don't understand how a Verizon employee that recommends using an app like this wouldn't know or wouldn't be able to find out whether a customer would be charged for something, but obviously many of their employees don't know whether you will be charged for things that Verizon offers. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has used Skype with Verizon in Afghanistan before and/or if you know whether or not we will actually be charged for roaming fees? We're not necessarily trying to make phone calls, we're mostly interested in using some messenger service so we can talk to each other as often as possible. Thank you.

jlaw729,
Hi there! I do think Skype is a good option and they have some great pricing options. If your spouse has access to Wi-Fi overseas I recommend shutting off data roaming (under Manage Connections>Mobile Network Options) and connecting to w-fi. That way the Blackberry Messenger (BBM) will be accessible and your spouse won't be connected to a data cellular network.
I hope that helps!

  • Using SKYPE while sailing in the Bahamas

I presently use SKYPE in Florida with family.
In order to use the computer face to face with a person in Florida while I am sailing in the Bahamas and have wifi connection - do I need a special subscription to SKYPE?  Do I have to purchase minutes even though I would not be using a phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you have a wifi connection you don't need anything else to make a free Skype-to-Skype call to anyone on your contacts list.  Calls will be the same as when you make them from home.
And just to be clear, Skype WiFi is a service that allows you to use Skype credits to pay for wifi where that wifi isn't free...a restaurant, airport, etc.  If you have free wifi available you don't need Skype WiFi.

  • Best way to use Skype while visiting Japan

Hi I'm a Japanese national who resides in the States.I will be visiting Japan for few weeks and trying to find out the best way to contact my family in Japan and the USA.I have iphone 5 and 6. I bought a Japan Skype subscirption and have Skype to Go USA number.I thought I will turn off celullar data on my phone and just use Wifi. I'm considering purchasing a Japanese Skype number, so my japanese family can contact me with low rate.  Can I get a Japanese skype number even though I don't reside there?None of my family has Skype there, just landline and mobiles. Do I need a Wifi to use Skype number or Skype to Go Number? I'm new to skype and thanks your help and suggestions!

  • Travel and using skype

Wondering about using skype while traveling to Spain and calling home to Canada. When buying credit do I use Canada as the country I will be calling. I do not see where it asks for the country I am calling from. Anyone help me with this. K

Check the rates page for Canada to find the cost and it doesn't matter where in the world you're calling from, the rate is the same.

  • While using Skype on my mac pro the screen freezes and splits in two and the left hand side shifts to the right and the right shifts to the left with a large black block down the centre, should I take it back to store as it is only a month old??

I have only had my mac one month and it seems while I use Skype the screen freezes and I cant click on anything and everything on the right hand side of the screen shifts to the left and the left to the right with a back block down the centre and sometimes lines running down the screen over all. As it is almost brand new should I be going back to store to get this problem fixed??

Yes.  You are still under warranty.  Why waste it?

/oracle/product/Middleware/AIA/Infrastructure/Install/AID/lib/AIDConfigurationLibraryTasks.xml:379: Not provided valid values for jdbc-url, username, password for datasource tag in null
I think there is something wrong, and there are lot of unwanted sections in the file. Actually we took the defxxxlt file and modified it.
BAERPSOA is the name of the Project from the AIA LCW, EBIZ01 is the SystemID and Ebiz is the short name. As of now, I am trying to deploy just one component, which is the db adapter composite connected to Oracle E Business Suite.

  • Error in using the Socket Adapter while deploying the composite

I am going through a Socket Adapter sample given in Oracle JCA Adapters for Sockets"Oracle Socket Adapter Hello World".
This sample demonstrates inbound request/response and synchronous outbound request/response modes of communication using using Oracle Socket Adapter.
The HelloWorld business process takes an input string from the Socket Adapter inbound service and
publishes the message to the BPEL process.
The BPEL process invokes the Socket Adapter outbound service and returns the received string using synchronous reply.
Before going into this sample i did the configuration in the Weblogic server by following the steps below:-
    1)Log into Weblogic server console
2)Click Deployments in the left pane for Domain Structure
3)Click Socket Adapter. The settings for SocketAdapter page is displayed.
    4)Click the configuration tab
5)Click the Outbound Connection Pools tab, and expand java.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory to see connection
    factories
    6)Click eis/socket/SocketAdapter
7)Set the KeepAlive connection property to true
    8)Save the setting.
After this i did the necessary configurations in the Socket Adapter Configuration Wizard(Inbound/Outbound).
    The BPEL process has:-
1)A receive which receives input from a Socket Adapter which serves as an inbound synchronous service.
2)An invoke acitvity which invokes a socket adapter which serves as a outbound synchronous service.
3)Two Assign activites to do the necessary assignment.
After Deploying the sample i encountered with the following errors:-
    <Sep 9, 2012 1:19:48 PM IST> <Error> <oracle.integration.platform.blocks.deploy.servlet> <SOA-21537> <Sending back error message: There was an error deploying the composite on soa_

    a class oracle.tip.adapter.socket.SocketInteractionSpec..>
Can any one please tell me the solution for this error.

Did you find a solution for this issue. I see the same error while deploying the same very sample code.

  • Error while deploying adf application using ant script or jdevloper IDE

    Hi All,
While deploying adf application into cluster weblogic server I am getting strange error though my weblogic server is working fine as I checked it from weblogic console. Seems that there is some heap memory issue but don’t know the exact cause as it work perfectly if I restart the server.
Same error i get when i try to deploy application from Jdeveloper IDE though it created the server connection successfully.
Please help me by provided valuable tips to overcome this problem or any special tips to optimize weblogic server for ADF.
    Thanks in advance

    >
Note: In its current stage Oracle Java Cloud Service runs WebLogic Server 10.3.6 with the appropriate Runtime ADF 11.1.1.6. Deployment of ADF 11gR2 Applications is currently not supported. Beside this limitation some ADF Features are not supported on the Oracle Cloud. According to the Oracle Cloud Documentation it is not supported to use the following ADF features
    ADF Desktop Integration
    ADF mBean
ADF MDS (Seeded customizations or cross-session personalization)
    ADF Mobile
ADF Active Data Services (=> No real-time ADF Web Apps in Oracles Cloud)
ADF Business Components services interfaces (web services) or events
ADF Data Controls for BI, Essbase, BAM, and JMX
Further there are some restrictions which are good to know I think
No Java Mail API (=>Sending Mails is prohibited)
No File system access by deployed applications (=>Writing files is prohibited)
No Direct use of Oracle JDBC Driver APIs
    No Java Message Service (JMS)
Max Size for deployment archive 95MB

  • Error while deploying Sandbox Solution in SharePoint 2010 using Visual Studio

    Hi,
I am creating a custom webpart as a sandbox solution.
While deploying I am getting an error
Error occurred in deployment step 'Retract Solution': <nativehr>0x80070005</nativehr><nativestack></nativestack>Access denied.
I have necessary permissions and part of admin group.
Please suggest what could be the issue.

    Hello,
can you check if your account have access to the SharePoint_Config database? if it's still doesn't work, check if the used account is a local administrator of the machine
    Best regards, Christopher.

  • Error while deploying project using HL7Adapter

    Hi,
I have created a sample project trying to read HL7 message from a text file and printing the output to another text file. The whole process goes through series of steps and adapters involved e.g. Text File to Queue to HL7Adapter to TCPIP adapter to final output text file. I am not modifying the contents.
Build is done successfully, but I am getting error while deployment which I am not able to figure out. If anybody is having any idea, please let me know. I am using Windows Vista 32-bit, JDK 1.6.07, Java CAPS 6.
If I reduce the steps to File->Queue->File, then it works fine, but involving HL7Adapter I am getting this error.
Following is the stack trace extracted from the server log:
