Using song as alarm tone

I have a Nokia 6710 Navigator. I have downloaded an mp3 onto my phone, which I want to use as my alarm tone. I have selected the song as my alarm tone, and at the set time the song begins playing.
My issue is that, when playing as an alarm, only 1 minute of the mp3 plays.
Is it possible to change the settings so that the whole mp3 file plays (approx 3 minutes) when I'm using it as an alarm?
Thank you for your help

So could anybody tell me then what length limitations the phones have?
1 minute for the alarm, for the regular ringtone "unlimited" (e.g. a song with 5:00 length)?
Is there any website with specifications/requirements for customisations/custom files (wallpaper/tehem/tone/etc.)?
regards
Pete

  • Using song for text tone on ipad

Can I set a song on my iPad as a text tone?

Actually you can. It took me 10 minutes first time and you need to use itunes on Mac or Windows to create one. Remember that you can't use more then 5 seconds of the song for alert.
    Here are instructions.

    yes you can
    A. how to make a ringtone using iTunes
First, open up iTunes in order to make a ringtone using iTunes. Find the song you want to turn into a ringtone by browsing through your music library.
Next, find exactly what part of the song you want to make a ringtone using iTunes. For example, if you want to use a specific section of the song from 21 seconds to 40 seconds, make a note of where you want the ringtone to begin and end.
Now, right click on the song you want to turn into a ringtone. Click "Get Info". Now, in order to make a ringtone using iTunes, click the "Options" tab.
Check the "Start Time" check box. Type in the point in the song where you want the ringtone to start in the format "minute:seconds" (e.g. the second mark would be 0:20). You can also be more precise by adding a period and putting milliseconds in after that (e.g. 0:20.150, would be 20.150 seconds). Also, click the "Stop Time" check box and enter where you would like the ring tone to end. Keep in mind ringtones can only be around 39 seconds maximum. Press "Ok". We are almost done making a ringtone in iTunes
Now, right click on the same song. Select "Convert AAC Version". If it is in another file format, you can go to "Edit" then "Preferences" and under the "General" tab click "Import Settings"; change the file format to AAC. After you select "Convert AAC Version" a new file will be created, but it will only be the segment of the song that you specified earlier.
Now, you have to find the file you just created. Right click on the new, shorter song and select "Open in Windows Explorer". The file extension should be .m4a. Rename the extension to .m4r by right clicking the file and selecting "Rename".
Now you can delete the shortened version of the song in your iTunes library. Then, double click the .m4r file and it will loaded into your iTunes Ringtone list. Now you can make a ringtone using iTunes!

  • Nokia E51 - Can't set clock alarm tone

    Hey there people!
My device is Nokia E51, and for some, bizarre reason, I can't set the clock alarm tone.
When I choose the sub-menu "Clock alarm tone" a list of songs/audio files on the phone is supposed to load.... but nothing there. The phone doesn't even give me any options to choose from. I actually find this quite frustrating and annoying because I'm trying to do something very basic here.
    I've attached a capture.
    Thanks for helpers.

Well the reason I asked about the large number of audio files is because it appears to be a common bug across many of nokias phones.   When you have a large number of audio files (either on the card or on the phone itself) the phone apparently gets 'confused' and is unable to load up the selection of ringtones or music files to use as a ringtone.
The only solutions would be to either:
    1)  Delete songs until the ringtone menu goes back to normal
    2)  Do what you have done with copying it to the phone then removing the memory card to be able to select the file.. then reinsert the memory card
Nokia just needs to get their act together. They should seperate ringtones from the music files.  This way when you go to select a ringtone.. it will ask to either choose a ringtone from a list.. or to select one of your mp3s from a list. This way keeping it seperate.  But that would be extra menus to navigate and people probably wouldnt like it.
But if they did it that way then they could use the mp3 listings by album, artist, song title, etc to allow people to choose the music files they want as a ringtone.  It would be easier to do that then continually scroll through huge lists

  • 6233 low volume alarm tone

I'm facing a problem with low volume of the alarm tone. In fact it is not reliable enough for waking me up !
I know the alarm tone is ascending by default, but when it reach its highest level it is a bit lower than a ringing tone for incoming calls for example. That's mean it is very tender and hardly could be heard on a noisy streat and what about waking me up in the morning.
Please let me know if it is possible to turn off the ascending mode of the alarm tone. There is such an option for the ringing tone of incoming calls, but not for the alarm alert. However, the ascending mode is not the problem, but the low volume of the alarm tone at all.
Share your opinions and experience. Thanks in advance to all 6233 users.

it is not possible to change the ascending feature on the alarm tone. what you can do is select another tone apart from the default tones. i use one of the defaults, can't recall which one it is, but its the loudest and it wakes me up on a morning. or you can try using radio or a full length song.
    everything happens for a reason

  • Changing the alarm tone

Hello. I am using the smartphone Sony Xperia L and I have been having troubles with changing my alarm tone. Once I go to the "alarm sound" option and click on it, I can choose between all the tones the phone already provides me but not a song from my own gallery. I have looked it up and I have found that there is supposed to be a note on the top right, which takes you to the gallery. It used to be like that on my phone too but after a few software updates, it doesn't exist there anymore. Could someone help me find a way to choose a song from my gallery as my alarm tone? Please and thank you.

If you are missing the note when you are picking ringtones I suggest that you go to settings > apps > all > media storage > clear defaults. Restart your phone and try again.

  • HT1727 help how do i make a purchased song my ring tone, it;s not showing on my list for ringtones

help how do i make a purchased song my ring tone, it's not showing on my list for ringtones

This song was purchased from the iTunes Store?
If so, you can't create a ringtone from music that was purchased from the iTunes store, but if there is a ringtone available for purchase and download at the iTunes Store with this song, you need to do that.
For music in your iTunes library on your computer that was not purchased from the iTunes store, there are a number of ways to create a ringtone with such music. With a Mac, there is an inexpensive or free app avaiable via Apple's online App Store named Ringer. Ringer has access to all music and sound files in your iTunes library that was not downloaded from the iTunes Store for creating your chosen segment of the song to be used for the ringtone. The app places the created ringtone in your iTunes library under Tones for transfer to your iPhone when syncing.
Creating ringtones on a Mac can also be done with GarageBand, and there is a manual way of doing this with iTunes.

  • N82 Only default alarm tone

I'm having the strangest problem: i can't change my alarm tone. I have a microSD card inserted, it has mp3s on it, the phone recognizes each and every one of them, i use some of them as ringtones etc. So everything seems to be working.
However, when i want to change the alarm tone, i have only 3 options: default; download new; off. I've tried creating a new alarm, editing my current, changing the tone in Personalise-> Tones (same options). Nothing worked.
    Please, help me.

  • Nokia 3600 slide Alarm Tone

I really like the default 'standard' alarm tone, and would like to use it as a ringtone (the tone that is used when you select "Standard" instead of "Radio" or "Open Gallery" or "Tone Downloads" in the alarm menu).  I cannot find that melody in the tones library as being available as a ringtone.  It seemed to me that it would be stored *somewhere* in the phone's memory, but I can't find it anywhere in the libraries.
Thanks in advance for trying to help!

  • Using downloads as ring tones?

I just got an IPhone and tried to download a ringtone to use as my ring tone.. it shows that I have downloaded it and its there in the files but how do I select it as a ring tone?

Ringtones are set in Settings>Sounds>Ringtone.  Where do you see the "ringtone" on your phone?  If it appears in your song list, but not in Settings>Sounds>Ringtone, then it isn't a ringtone but instead is a song file that need to first be converted to a ringtone with iTunes and synced to your phone.  This will show you how to do this: http://cnettv.cnet.com/create-free-ringtones-itunes-10/9742-1_53-50093086.html.

  • Alarm Tone, Media Card Issues

Purchased Curve 9360 about a week ago. Had memory card in my old Blackberry which I transferred and was working fine. Tried to put in a new memory card (wanted more storage), transferred things onto it, everything fine.
Tried to change alarm tone to one of my songs but keep getting a message saying there is no music installed, go to blackberry.com/mediasync to find out how to sync music, which is no help whatsoever.
I have tried clearing the memory, reformatting etc but it all works fine apart from the alarm. I can't understand why it wont recognize that there is music in the folder.
If anyone is able to help, knows the answer I would be thankful, its been driving me mad as it worked with my old memory card when I first transferred (now wont work with any memory card).

I don't know the answer... there could be one I am overlooking.
But if your husband's card works perfectly in your BB, and your (bad) card works perfectly in his phone... well--isn't that the answer ?

  • Alarm Tone Loop Delay

The other day, I made a custom ringtone loop and loaded it onto my iPhone. In iTunes, the loop sounded perfect; when I tried the tone as a ringtone, it also worked perfectly. However, when I try to use the same tone as an alarm tone, there is a short pause before the loop, which causes the tone to not loop seamlessly. Is there a reason for this, and is there any way I can fix it, such as editing the tone file?
I tried searching for this on the web, and I kept getting results either for online custom tone makers or the old iTunes ringtone maker.

    Hi,
same problem here in the UK. Got the iPhone 4 in June...British Summer Time - BST - ended on Saturday night...our iPhones failed to wake us up this morning because although they had automatically updated to the correct time, the repeating alarms continued to think it was an hour later...
I wonder how much money companies will have lost this morning due to iPhone users turning up late for work! ;-/
I have called the UK iPhone support today (0844 209 0611), which costs £0.05 per minute if you are beyond the free 90-day support allowance...and they suggested resetting everything in settings! Or maybe doing a 'restore'. If you're reading this, please call the support line because when I rang they said they had not had any calls about the problem. So the more people who lodge a complaint, the more likely it is that Apple will do something to help us. Have you see forums elsewhere on the internet? It seems this is quite a problem for a lot of people.
Obviously this is not the end of the world but it is a slightly irritating bug

  • Video as alarm tone

Can I use a video clip as alarm tone in iPhone 5 ?

    Yes, check the App Store.
Or DIY here using iTunes which is not hard to do:
    1. Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Library
    2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
    3. In the dialog choose Options tab
    4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
    5. Close dialog.
    6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
    7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
    8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes.
    9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
    10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
    Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes for syncing with your new iPhone.
