Using SonyEricsson z710i and iSync via USB

I just recently upgraded to a new iMac running 10.5.1 Leopard. Using Feisar's iSync plug in, I've been able to get my phone to sync via Bluetooth, but not via USB. On Feisar's web site they noted that a new bug has developed as of OS10.4.10 that causes USB based syncs to fail. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem? I'd like to be able to sync my phone when it's docked and charging...

The apparent bug in Apple's USB drivers relates to the initial detection of the phone via USB during setup. Since 10.4.10 some phones that iSync was able to detect when scanning for devices, it no longer can. (iSync 'sees' more than one serial port connection, but chooses the one you can't sync on).
Unfortunately, nothing seems to have changed in either 10.4.11, 10.5 or 10.5.1, and there's no workaround. If you previously successfully synced via USB in an earlier OS X, then syncing still continues to work after upgrading if you don't delete the phone - it's just the phone detection that doesn't.
iSync's ability to sync some Sony Ericsson phones via USB was only added in 10.4.9 for a limited number of phones, and has never been as straightforward as the more established Bluetooth syncing.
For that reason (and many others) we would always recommend Bluetooth syncing over USB.

No, you can not directly attach one drive to two computers at the same time, period. In particular, you can't use it for Time machine this way.

  • Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an airport extreme?

My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme. I have a HP officejet 5610 All-in-One. I want to be able to print wirelessly using my Airport Extreme.  Thank you

Is there a difference between AirPrint and printing via usb printer plugged into an AirPort Exreme?
    Big difference.
AirPrint for one will not work via USB, so you will not be able to print from an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad using this type of connection unless you look at additional software....that may or may not allow this option.
Assuming that you get the All-in-One setup using the USB port on the AirPort.......only printing is supported.
You will not be able to use any other advanced features like maintenance, scan, copy, fax, etc when the device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort.
If you plan to use the HP for other things, I would strongly recommend that you connect it to your computer.
My printer does not show up in the add a printer option on my iMac when plugged into the extreme.
This usually indicates that your printer model is not supported. Check with HP Support to see if they have any updated Macintosh drivers for the 5610 that you could download and install that might allow this.

  • I was using a ps3 controller connected via usb as a gamepad when I had Snow Leopard installed - the other day I downloaded Mavericks and now it no longer works. Solutions?

I moved from 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.9 (Mavericks). Apple support won't help because it's not their hardware. It's not a playstation controller, it's Spartan brand, and it never connected via bluetooth (it continues to not connect via bluetooth in Mavericks which is fine). I always just plugged it in and it ran because apparently Apple included drivers for it from Snow Leopard onward. However, in Mavericks that's not the case, as when I plug it in nothing picks it up, and when I tried to connect it via bluetooth I would enter the pairing code and then it wouldn't pair. Anyone got any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks for no help. Such a supportive community. I figured it out on my own. I can only connect it via usb cable (which I'm happy with) and in order to do that I had to go through the bluetooth connection steps for some reason. It doesn't show up as paired but I did the steps outlined in this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Efk77f6d98Y -, plugged the controller in via usb cable and then it worked.

  • IMac using an external hard drive via usb 2.0

I am currently using a brand new 20" iMac with 4GB of ram and since this computer only has one firewire 400 port I'm using that for the deck and plugging in the external hard drive via usb 2.0, but I do have the option of plugging in firewire 400 to the hard drive. I've recently been having trouble capturing footage. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

You're experiencing the number one reason why not to use an iMac for video work: complete lack of expansion beyond a couple of firewire devises.
Yet, many folks will disagree with this assessment and their decisions are made solely on cost over functionality and reliability.
    Go iMacs!

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen skipping and popping via USB car stereo...

I have a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD car stereo and have the iOS 4.2.1 installed on my iPod Touch 4th Gen. Since 4.0.2 my iPod Touch has been flawless with playback. We all know the infamous 4.1 problems with the skipping of music via USB car in-dash car stereos. NOW, with the iOS 4.2.1 there is no skipping whatsoever. However, there is a lot of popping in the playback of my car stereo via USB. I've did a factory restore with iTunes and used some dust remover (air spray container) in the connector on the bottom of the iPod and also used the same dust remover on my USB syncing cable that I use in my car. Does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks in advance.

I can't help with an answer, but i have noticed the same thing whenever i hook my ipod up to my pioneer 510-ub through the usb...all other mp3s and flashdrives work fine. the pops only occur when the ipod is hooked up.

  • Using C6 as a modem via USB in MacBook Pro

I'm having trouble connecting my MacBook Pro to Internet via C6.
I would like to use it via USB. My system in Mac is 10.5.8
Can someone tell me what to do?

Do you have an IBM / Lenovo Laptop?
I do and I checked the event logs and noticed failure 680 which indicated that no dial tone could be obtained (cable not plugged it) or similar symptom.
I used to receive the error "one touch access failed to establish a network connection" using the Nokia PC Suite. I checked under start | settings | network connections and selected properties on the valid dial-up device. Then I noticed that the device was using the Internal Thinkpad modem instead of the Nokia. This explained the error 680 as the Thinkpad modem was not cabled to the phone line. After changing the connect using device from thinkpad to Nokia all worked well.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Using N95 as a Modem Via USB on O2UK Network

Hi I am trying to connect to the internet with my laptop using the N95 as a modem via USB. I have tried a couple of different ways to do this. I've tried using the one touch access in Nokia PC suite and it gets up to the part where it says "verifying username and password" then says unable to establish a connection. I have also tried connecting from the "connect to" tab in the start menu on xp (also tried vista) and selecting my mobile as the modem through which to connect. I am an O2UK Customer and i have been told the user name and pass to use to connect is user=mobileweb and password=password. Im sure this is true because it does get past the verifying username and password bit when i do it this way. But when it gets to the "Registering your computer on the network" part it fails.
What am i doing wrong. I have tried this in both GSM and UMTS mode.
are there any other O2UK Customers who have managed to use their N95 as a modem? If so please can you post here and explain how i do it.
Any help is greatly appreciatedMessage Edited by n95nooby on 29-Oct-200703:05 AM

  • Time Capsule, MFP, and scanning via USB switch

Has anyone tried to share a multi-function printer between Time Capsule and an iMac using a USB switch?
The TC and the printer work fine together for wireless printing, but I'd like to be able to use the MFP's scanner with my desktop without swapping the USB connection each time. Has anyone gotten such a setup to work, and if so can you recommend a particular USB switch?
I would connect the iMac to the printer by USB via one branch of the switch, while the other branch would connect the TC to the printer for wireless printing.
I know that another solution would be to connect the iMac to the printer and share the printer using OS X's printer sharing feature, but I'd like to avoid forcing the iMac to remain on in order to print.
Hardware: Canon Pixma MP830, iMac (2.7 GHz Core i5, running Lion), Time Capsule (4th Gen., 2TB)
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Please explain exactly what you mean by "plugging the NAS into the ethernet port on the imac and the TC via USB".  I can't picture how you have things connected.
I'd plug the NAS and your iMac into Ethernet ports on the Time Capsule.  If you want to assure that you're copying over Ethernet, then turn off AirPort on the iMac.

  • Switching to AT&T Cingular - best phone for use with Mac and iSync

    Dear Friends,
I am finally about to be free from Sprint's poor customer service. I will be switching to AT&T / Cingular. (Not quite ready to buy an iPhone, but don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract with another provider).
I want to use Apple's iSync. I have reviewed the list of compatible devices and scanned the forums for related topics.
    I'm still left wondering:
What is the best phone to get with AT&T for use with iSync?
I would like to sync contacts both ways. If possible, syncing cal events and to-dos would be nice, but not as important as contacts.
I prefer small flip phones. I don't plan to buy the Media pack service that includes text, web, etc. Instead, I will use the phone for calls and occassional text messages.
Sound quality and the ease of use are the most important features for me. I prefer raised keys to the flat keypads, but could give on this if need be.
Finally, using the phone as a modem with my laptop would be nice, but is not essential.
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.
    David

I am facing the exact same question regarding, e.g., the Nokia 6126. There are several references:
    1. Go to the Nova Media web site and look at their new product, Fone Link. Or their iSynch Plugins
    2. One of the forum threads references, http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060915154526806
    3. Another link I found http://soapbox.co.nz/past/2007/4/9/nokia-6126-and-isync-revisited/
But what I don't yet understand is whether or not any of these suggestions/solutions are affected by the carrier. My understanding is that the 6126 is the North America Version of the 6131. But I talked to ATT/Cingular support yesterday and they make some modifications to the phone software. They don't know if the ATT 6126 will synch with a Mac. Of course they know the answer if synching with a PC (!!)

  • Problem importing photos from PC, and charging via USB

    Hi
I can't seems to import images from my Windows 7 computer to my new iPad via the USB cord. I'm using the latest version of iTunes.
The photos are in a designated folder in My Pictures. In iTunes I go to "Sync Photos From .." and chose the folder. Then click on Sync. iTunes says is it syncing the phoos and downloading, but the images are nowhere to be found.
    What am I doing wrong?
By the way, I have another question: Why when the iPad is plugged into the PC is there a message beside the battery symbol that the iPad isn't charging?

  • New SLVR with iSync via USB 1.1 cable

I am trying to get my new Motorola SLVR to transfer phone numbers from my address book using USB 1.1 (I have an old tear-drop mac). When iSync is open, it is not even acknowledging my new phone, even when I do a "scan".
Am I out of luck until I get a newer mac?
    It transfers songs just fine.
    Thanks,
    Phil

The Motorola SLVR L7 is supported now as an iSync device using either a USB or Bluetooth interface, but only with iSync 2.1.1 and OS X 10.4.4 or later.
The short answer, therefore, is that you will have to upgrade your hardware before you can install the software required to support your mobile handset.
If you are looking for a low-cost upgrade path, Apple periodically offers refurbished machines [with full year warranties and current OS packages] at about a 15% or so discount off of retail prices. Currently, a 1.9 GHz iMac G5 17-inch SuperDrive-equipped model with a 160 gigabyte drive is available for $ 1099.00. This package is iSight equipped, and includes FrontRow.

USB communication between C8051F320 and Lab View. I try doing methods given in the NI site(http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4478) and atlast, it gives me error −1073807302 so if any one can answer my question please do post me the details concerned to it.

My devices show up as NI-VISA USB but I'm not sure if that makes a difference and I'm not using USB RAW either. One thing that you can run is a VISA Property node like below and see what it reports. Also, what version of VISA are you using? If you are not using 4.0, you can download it from http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/webcategories/85256410006C055586256BBB002C0E91?opendocument&node=1....

  • CPU is very hot when using Thunderbolt display and mac attached USB hard drive for TimeMachine

    Hello,
i've bought the new MacBook Pro 15" and a Thunderbolt display. Everything works fine for me due to the latest updates, but i experience an issue which i really don't understand. When i connect an usb hard drive for TimeMachine to my display it works like expected (CPU has a temperature of 64°C), but when i connect it to an usb port of the mac while using my display the CPU temperature goes crazy (spikes about 80°C) and it gets very noisy. Has anyone else experienced this behaviour?
May this has something to do with the dual graphics adapter and how the system handles the data stream to thunderbold ports and usb devices? Which graphics card is used for the external display, the internal gpu or the adapter from ati? I've googled a lot but haven't found appropriet answers about these questions.

    Hi there ulairi9!
I understand how this would be a frustrating issue! I have an article here that can provide some troubleshooting steps for you, and can hopefully help you resolve the issue. That article specifically addresses the issue you are experiencing, and can be found here:
