I know that you can capture audio with labview, but can you capture the lower level analog input signal if its not audio?

I guess your name isn't elen and you are in ELEN405 at TAMU....that makes sense.
I am sorry I didn't understand before but I now believe I understand what you are doing. Depending on which version of LV you should have sound vis allowing you to receive data from your soundcard using a basic mic...or a built in mic. There are also VIs to save and retreive data from .WAV files....keep in mind though before you listen to a wave file....LV is receiving the pure digital data which is a very small voltage...you will probably need to multiply the signal by 100k or so to make it audible.

Well, I really would love the new unreleased mac pro however , I'm not sure of the expected cost , Everyone speculates from $3,000 to $8,000, in which I may have to wait a while to purchase.
To the point .... I want fully functional thunderbolt ports to be on the current mac pro's .... wonder if anyone had workarounds yet?... or could I chain the the current mac pro to a mac mini to make that happen?

To the best of my knowledge, Windows is not capable of setting a specific sound card based on the app being used, it's all or nothing.
Try a google search or search the Microsoft site.

The firewire port reads the dj software and I can hear music playing through the sound card when I plug my headphones into it but there is no signal to the hardware (my dj mixer).
I have reset the firewire by turning off my mac book pro for a few hours and can see the sound card device in the fire wire section after clicking on the apple icon on the top left corner of my mac.
My dj mixer works on another mac computer with the same soundcard and different firewire cable.
Hope someone can help

yes, it could be due to nearly anything listed in your kernel extensions, startup items, launch daemons, launch agents, or user items above. Please check all of your installed third-party software to make sure that the versions which are installed on your MacBook Pro are compatible with Mavericks; uninstall every software package which isn’t Mavericks-compatible. After you’ve done that, boot into Safe mode, and see if you still get the beach ball of doom there. If it doesn’t appear there, restart normally and see if it appears then.

Can I do a sampling with a rate of 96000hertz using a sound card?

I have a question about sound card.I supposed to collect signal using a sound card which says supporting a sampling rate of 96000 hertz.But VIs about sound card in Labview can only do sampling with a maximum rate of 44100 hertz.I try to modify the VI,however,it says there are some wrong choiced numerics.
What I want to ask is how can I change the software to adapt to my target.Is that possible?If it is,can someone give me an example?

The native LabVIEW sound VIs are limited to the sample rates in the enums. If you want a different sample rate (or more control, or a different format...), you will need to make API calls using the call library node or ActiveX. A search of this forum should point you in the right direction.

In LabVIEW 6.1 I found some examples they use those sound VIs. They are located in \examples\sound folder. Those examples should give you a good overview how to use the VIs.

Using PC sound card as a signal source

i am a university student, and really want to know if
it is possible to using the sound card on a PC as a signal generation source?
i did use labview sound VI to generate a single tone, but the measured signal is not a sine waveform,the negtive period is missing.

How to use 9264 card with daq

Hi friends,
I m using labview 8.6 version. I hve interfaced labview with cdaq 9172.
I have used 9201, 9203 ,9219 card.Now i want to use 9264 card i.e analog output card.I am not getting how to use it .wheather I hve 2 use on function plate express--> input-->daq assistant or something else.please help me. i want to control valve through 9264.i am sending some screen shot how i m trying 2 use.

Hi Ajju
You can use the DAQ Assistant express VI, but since the 9264 is an output module you will need to choose "Generate Signal" instead of "Acquire Signal" in the dialog. Then you will specify what you want to output, from which channels, how fast etc. in the same maner as you do when acquiring a signal.

Use your sound card as an oscilloscope, event counter, spectrum analyzer etc..

If you enjoy using your computer equipment for as much as possible, here is something that I have wondered about for some time ... how easy is it to adapt your good-quality sound card to use it as an audio-range oscilloscope, event counter etc..

Yes, of course, alsa-utils is installed (so is alsa-firmware, and alsa-oss). I'm in audio group.

Two simultaneous sound outputs by using external USB sound card

Hi
I have a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.4.1
I've also bought a Griffin iMic as my second sound card.
Mac OS X shows my internal sound card as well as the external USB one and I can
easily switch between them. I was wondering if there is a way of using both at the same time, say, the internal speakers play song X and the headphone connected to iMic play sound Y.
Do I need a special software for this ?
Is iTunes capable of doing this ?
Any input is appreciated.

hi i just like to say i had a similar fault though i would be surprised if it causing yours,but you never know,my fault was my laptop lid, [9 months old] it contains the mic ,and when the lid was in a certain angle crackles could be heard worse when i had my external sound card in, it was a faulty membrane [ lid to body] easily missed by engineer because it was the same angle all the time it happened,good luck, PS you English is very good

Want to use 2 sound cards

I have been checking around and have noticed on some of the web cast sites that there are possibility in using multiple sound cards on one machine. The basic functionality is possible pending IRQ and BIOS settings.
I currently have an older SBLive Platinum W/ Live drive and have tweaked it out pretty nicely for basic I/O.
I was capable of getting most of the routing possibilitys working on that EMU Chipset with an opensource program I found a while back along with the Audigy drivers. I would like to keep using the card and the bay. Could revert very easily back to the original software and drivers.
Enter problem........
I have been made aware of the possibility that the X-Fi Platinum is "in the cards" for X-Mas. And I am intrigued by the newer functionality. Then I start thinkin' see....
2 bays
2 cards
2 midi in
2 midi out
2 headphone
etc. etc. etc.
What about 2 seperate sets of control software that is used for each card. Main output from one, monitor output from the other. Control room out from one, Tape out out the other. ASIO, ASIO, ASIO Hmmm.
I have no experience using two cards in one machine but considering I was given' the first card to begin with and now I may be gettin' a second one of higher quality I wonder If anyone has any data concerning the 2 card issue.

I will try to help.
Not that familiar with the 2000 Platform but I would start by doing a full uninstall of the current drivers and software for the SB Platinum. Download the LiveDrive-Uni Pack from the update link. Getting rid of your old audio drivers is a fairly importaant step.

Then DL the software if you want all that stuff.
I remember that when I first started fiddling with this unit I had a similiar situation where I could not get the audio on the front bay to function properly.
I think the driver update took care of the issue.
At any rate .... I have just done a clean install of XP, got the video card screamin, and I am going to re-install the Platinum with the drive tonight. I am going to try with a minimum of the bundled software so driver and AudioHQ with Creative mixer are about all I am interested in.
The Emu 10kx drivers are supported on this card as well as the Audigy, with that said the Kx drivers from Lugosoft might be of interest if you cant get the Creative stuff working.
I will post again with the process if all goes well.
There is a whole slew of settings that could go wrong with this IMHO 'GLITCHY' card.
I am gonna' get it to work with the new X-FI If my life depends on it.

What is a decent sound card to use with DJ Mixer Pro?

I'm having trouble finding a compatible external sound card to use with my Mac Mini. Specifically, I need one that supports surround sound to use with DJ Mixer Pro. I am currently unable to use the "Preview" function of the program during my sets to ensure proper blending from one track into another. I've gotten pretty good at working around it, but with the proper sound card I should be able to preview a track in the "rear" of the surround sound without disturbing the "front", which plays live to the crowd. Most information I can find on sound cards pertains to home theatre application, which I have no interest in. I also don't need anything too sophisticated as I use the program for local club performances instead of professional production. I would prefer something that connects through firewire to prevent any kind of delay, but most of these seem to be discontinued or expensive overkill, so I hope a USB 2.0 will suffice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2 sound cards one using OSS4, other ALSA

So, is it possible to have 2 sound cards where one will use OSS4 and other will use ALSA?

When you use oss4, one of the things it does is remove/disable all the alsa drivers that come with the kernel.
Both oss4 and alsa try to take full control of all audio devices so without changes to oss4 and/or driver cherry picking/modification I suppose it will not work.
