Using Spotify on an iPad 1

Hi there, my wife and I are considering upgrading to Spotify Premium, as we have started using (and enjoying!) it more and more the last few weeks. However, we want to use it via our Blutooth speakers and we don't really want to use our phones or our iPad Air to drive it, as they may be being used for other things or not available all the time. Great, I thought, We have that old iPad 1 in the draw - that would be perfect as a dedicated Spoify device, yes? No. The iPad is iOS 5.1.1. It installs an older version of Spotify, which is fine, if it worked. But it doesn't. I get a log in page and it accepts my username and password, but then I get a "Connect to Facebook" window that sits forever with a "loading" icon and not option to skip. If I cancel it just goes back to the login. I appreciate the iPad 1 is old and the version of Spoitify that gets downloaded is probably no longer supported, but if I can't get around this, we are going to have to look elsewhere for our music streaming. Does anyone know of a fix or a way around this? TIA

I'm afraid that since the iOS 5 isn't no longer supported, there's no way to fix this issue.
Newer versions might have fixed that issue.
Maybe not the solution, but have you tried reinstalling the app.
There are sometimes bugs that make trouble while logging in.
The best reinstallation possible is achieved by following these steps:
On the home screen, tap and hold the Spotify icon until it shakes.
Tap the X symbol on the icon.
Hold the Home and Power buttons down together until the Apple logo appears.
Open the App Store then search for and install the Spotify app.

I will also buy an airport express and connect it to an amp and speakers (to be purchased asap).
I know the AE has dual analogue and optical out. If I buy a standard amp e.g. Yamaha as500, does the AE then act as a dac? Would I be better getting an amp with optical input (and therefore its own dac)

Not sure if its of interest given the lack of replies but now have the ipad streaming spotify to AE that is connected to some old 2.1 speakers via analogue.
Now looking to upgrade speakers and buy an amplifier c£1000 (again if anyone is interested monitor audio bx5s and either marantz pm6004 or cr603).
My dilema now is:
1)
the pm6004 is better quality specs but has analogue inputs so the AE acts as a dac which means the quality of sound for the £1k system is dependent on the quality of the dac in the AE and the quality of the audio software/hardware. Does anyone have info on this?
2)
The cr603 is slightly worse quality sound but has airplay. Therefore no AE needed and it will use its purpose built internal dac

I just had the same problem. Took the first unit back and the problem is still occuring on the second one. I solved it by setting up again with the USB, but it keeps dropping out every few days.

Thanks for pointing in the right direction. I tried with the various combinations of the available characteristics for the interpretation of the Selection and the report responded correctly. I had to include both the dates used in the CKF in the interpretation. Earlier I was just using Sales Documnet No & Sales Document Item.

You cannot sync with the Apple TV. You can use AirPlay to stream iPad content to your TV.

My iPad IOS software is 8.2 and my Apple TV software is at 7.1. The TV displays the Apple Menu. The “Settings” does however displays the General menu allowing me to see:
Apple software: 7.1 (7003)
Apple TV: Model No. A1464, Part No. MD199B/A
Signal Strength shows 5 circles.
It does not display the iPad screen but when I use the BT Sport App I can hear the sound but there is no video. I have searched the internet for a solution to no avail. The problem first arose when the IOS was at 8.1+ but it worked correctly briefly when I updated to IOS 8.2. Can you help please?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

I've been unable to locate an app that will do this. The Photos app that comes with the phone or iPad has extremely limited duration controls. PhotoStream seems to load everything from my phone or iPad not allowing me to just load up a set group of images.
iPhoto for iPad is getting some terrible recent reviews. I tried a couple other free apps but they don't use Airplay.
I can do something like this with iPhoto and my MB Air, but it's kind of ugly to have the computer open in order to connect by Airplay to my Apple TV. I've thought the iPad or iPhone would be a lower profile controller.
Am I out of luck?

Thanks for your help. Since I'm uninterested in loading all my photos (the only option) into photostream, I won't be able to use the settings in ATV. I guess I'm just stuck with using iPhoto on my MB Air. Thanks again.

Please advise me on the steps necessary for removing these duplicates and establishing a syncing solution that doesn't regenerate the duplicates. There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work. I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently. Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates. I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

Ive just upgraded my iphone as i need my current iphone to use spotify for my wedding playlist. All the songs are available offline on my spotify app. So when i get my new phone will i be able to use the old one to just use the app for songs?

I used the wifi on my Blackberry while it was unactivated, just to get used to using the BB and get comfortable with the OS before traveling with it as my primary device.
It should work as a "spare googler" - but as you expect, no texting or phone calls as there is no phone number associated with the device.

No you do not need separate Apple ID's in order to use 3 devices with one Apple ID. I use 4 devices to Message and FaceTime and all use the same Apple ID. You do need to add additional email addresses for the other devices.

'Normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software do not work on the iPad (iOS), they are different operating systems. You can only install apps from the iTunes App Store on your computer or the App Store app directly on your iPad.

And just in case you were wondering, installing one purchased copy on all the Macs you own is specifically called out as allowed in the Mac OS X Lion license.
If you do not want to download multiple times, just copy the Applications -> Install Lion app to a safe place BEFORE you do the first install. Then copy that copy to any Mac you own where you want to install Lion.

No, there is no direct download link. Those are days of the past, I'm afraid. You may need to reinstall Mavericks.
