I also have this problem printing photos from an iPad to an Epson WF-2540 printer. It prints only 4x6 and without border (so print starts at extreme top left corner of paper). Borderless printing is not selected on printer. Printing a square photo just crops to 4x6 size.

Is there any limitation of memory uses for apps in ipad2 or ipad3 .For example an application can use 10% or 20% of available memory , is there anything like that or the apps can use the total available memory or like 90% of it ?

iOS manages all memory. You should test your app in Instruments to be sure it is playing nice.

Has anyone used an app with the Maverick software to burn iPhoto slideshows to DVD disks that will play on any DVD player?

Has anyone used an app with the new Maverick software to burn iphoto slide shows to DVDs that will play on a standard DVD player? This probably cannot be a demo app in that the amout of photos on the slideshows is large.

Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.

Multiple mailboxes when using mail.app with google in IMAP.

I have just started using mail.app with IMAP and my google mail account appears to be in two place. The mail.app has the following interface in the left pane.
MAILBOXES, REMINDERS, RSS and GMAIL all in grey. Below the MAILBOXES i have got the following folders, inbox, sent and trash and below the GMAIL, i have got a replication of the structure in my google account.
which set of folders should i be using?
when i deleet the mail in the MAILBOXES it does not seem to delete it in All Mail folder under GMAIL.
IS the synchronisation between the mails in the mail.app and the google server on a periodic basis. can i force the synchronisation?

Mail works fine with Exchange 2003. This is how our accounts are configured:
Incoming Mail Server:your exchange server.domain.com.au
eg. server2.bunnings.com.au
Username: domain\User alias\Full username
eg. bunnings\bobs\bob.smith
SMTP: smtp.bunnings.com.au
Web Access Server: webmail.bunnings.com.au
You can then setup the LDAP options under the composing tab to get the email list from your Exchange server.
And no i do not work for Bunnings!

Do you mean the "iPhoto for iOS" app?
That is not possible, if you upgraded your iPad to iOS 8. Unfortunately, iPhoto is incompatible with iOS 8. Apple did not release an upgrade for iPhoto. It can only run on the earlier versions, iOS 7 or earlier.
You can use the Photos.app on iOS 8, or install other photo editors. Pixelmator for iOS is quite good on the iPad and has brushed adjustments, and it can access photos on iCloud Drive.

Use of Apps with different Apple IDs

Can an App purchased from Store using one Apple ID be used by another Apple ID on the same iPad?

You can log out of the currently signed in account by tapping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores if it's on iOS 6) and you can then sign in with a different account and you should be able to continue to use the apps from the first account (I only have the one account so it's not something that I've tried).
But as per the page that Demo linked, if the iPad is already associated with an account then you might not be able to log out of it and use another account on the iPad until the 90 days have completed.

I'll try to explain the "Universal Adapter."
So Oracle BI Applications contains the presentation catolog (prebuilt reports and dashboards), the .rpd (prebuilt business logic), and the Informatica Repository (the ETL process).
The warehouse model stays fairly consistent regardless of the platform. The "ETL Process" runs through SDE (source depent extract), SIL (source independent), and PLP (post load) mappings.
By utilizing the "Universal Adapter/Container" you are still able to utilize the standard .rpd and presentation catalog.
Essentially the Universal Adapter is in place to allow a user to develop discover the data needed by the "SDE" mappings, while still utilizing the rest of the functionality provided with BI Applications. This can be an overwhelming task, and I do suggest you do fairly comprehensive analysis before you attempt to utilize Oracle BI Applications with the Universal Container.
Depending on the magnitude and scope of your deployment, you might be better off developing the ETL process on your own. However, there are instances where the universal adapter can be incredibly usefull.

Assertion Failures using Mail.app with Exchange 2007...

We have been implementing and migrating our end-users to Exchange 2007. In doing so we found that Mail.app end-users were experiencing Assertion failures in Console.app. They used to cause Mail.app to crash and lose connectivity frequently to the Exchange 2007 server. We made a change to the firewall to allow communication to happen between domain controllers, but haven't been able to determine if this in fact resolved or helped hide the root cause. We seem to be no longer crashing Mail.app or losing connectivity, but the same logs when we would crash/lose connectivity are still happening when you look in Console.app.

We are getting these Assertion Failures for other end-users as well that are using Mail.app and connecting to Exchange 2007 Server. I have wiped my mail.app account and started from fresh and that didn't help. I did it manually as well ensuring that preference files, caches, and passwords related to mail.app, ical.app, and Address Book.app were removed. That did not work. I just went from 10.6.4 to 10.6.5 hoping that would correct the issue, it did not. I even set up on another Mac a baseline Snow Leopard and patched it and then configured my mail account and still got the same errors.
What I am hoping for is not a miracle (Fixing the problem), but being told what these errors mean and if there is any risks to be concerned with. In other words, can I ignore these error messages or should I be concerned? Like I said it was causing us to get the sideways thunderbolt or triangle with an exclamation point and even crashing Mail.app at times. That hasn't happened since we let the all of the domain controllers talk to each other, even though they shouldn't have to.

I echo your hope for someone shedding a light on this. I too am geting Assertion failures, every few days, though without much in the way of crashes.

Using Terminal.app with X11

Dear Apple Discussions,
I am trying to get X11 and Terminal.app to work together. I read on the forums here that it is possible by going here.
I followed the instructions to the best of my abilities, yet when I try and open up Emacs in Terminal.app (yes, I downloaded fink and installed the windowed version) I don't get a new window (yes, X11 is running).
When open up a Terminal window I get the message:
DISPLAY has been set to .0
which seems to me to be incorrect.
Any ideas?
On a side note, is there a way of changing the META key from being ESC to ALT as it is supposed to be?

   I'm a little confused by this discussion of the ALT key as Apple keyboards don't have an ALT key. Thus, I assume that you have a keyboard designed for one of those other types of computers. Anyway, X11 does use the ALT key terminology so we do have to discuss it regardless of what type of keyboard you have.
   Long ago someone posted instructions for this that added both Alt_L and Alt_R to Mod1, like so:

keycode 66 = Alt_L
keycode 69 = Alt_R
add Mod1 = Alt_L
add Mod1 = Alt_R
   Of course the main problem is to fix your ~/.xinitrc. The reason that your X11 quits is because X11 replaces it's init process with the execution of the ~/.xinitrc. When that script quits, the process ends, as you observed. The way to keep it running is to replace the script process with a new process that is then in control of XWindows. Traditionally, this process is the window or desktop manager and process substitution is accomplished with the "exec" command. By default the last command in Apple's /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc is:
exec quartz-wm
which passes control of the XWindows process to Apple's Quartz window manager. That default xinitrc also contains commands that process the ~/.Xmodmap file and it is invoked automatically if you have no ~/.xinitrc. Thus, if you're using Apple's X11, it should be sufficient to delete your ~/.xinitrc. Alternatively, you could copy that default file to your home directory with:
cp /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc ~/.xinitrc
If you're using some other version of X11, you should still use the above command to copy in the default xinitrc and then customize it to suit your needs. However, make sure that the "exec" command is the last one in the script and that every other command returns immediately.

How can use full app with multiple monitor

in Lion and Mountain Lion
when i use Multiple Monitors and move any app in full-screen mode
its become in one monitor and other monitor become blank
but it seems usefull that other monitor show another app in fullscreen mode
how can i do this ?

Sorry to say, but it is designed to work that way.
The only way around it that I know of is, not to use full-screen but just fill the screen with the application that you are using.

Using Remote app with wired AppleTV

I can only control my AppleTV 2nd Gen with the iPad Remote app when the ATV is connected wirelessly. With a wired connection Remote no longer detects the ATV.
Similarly I can't see music or photo libraries on other Macs when I use a wired connection to the ATV. Does anyone know if this is the expected behaviour?
Incidentally the wired connection is over a Netgear HomePlug AV network.

I guess the problem will be with the Netgear connection not being a simple wired connection. I think that both devices appear to need to be on the same subnet, I have two wireless networks 192.168.2.x and another on 192.168.4.x with my router and apple tv on the 192.168.2.x network. With my iPad on the 192.168.2.x network everything is OK but if connected to the 192.168.4.x network then it cannot connect to the Apple tv so I believe it must be apple preventing access from another subnet.

Using graphics tablet with Ipad2

For those of us who would like a stylus experience with fine detail, from an artistic perspective, or much more accurate handwriting input -- does anyone know of a graphics tablet (that uses a fine detail stylus) that can be used as the input device for an iPad 2? I imagine it would have to employ some kind of app to make it work. Anybody gone down this trail yet??
