I want to be able to respond to some questions in another color to make answers stand out, in mail
There is no way to color text with the built in mail app. You can make text bold, underline and italic- but not colorized. You may be able to do it with a third party app - but you would have to search the app store.

Can you use a text field for email sender with E-mail button
basically i would like to use input information from the user when someone sends an email instead of the default which is to look for a third party e-mail program like outlook. I want to bypass that and possibly use a text field that has the user input their email. some people don't use outlook so it would be nice to bypass that somehow. Is there a way to send email without the whole outlook thing, like not needing a "sender" and instead require them to input email address. I just want to receive the pdf. I am using LIVECYCLE by the way.
You must enable POP forwarding for the account preferences via webmail access for the account.

The instructions for enabling POP forwarding and creating the account as a POP account with an email client such as the Mail.app are available at Gmail's website. -
Yahoo mail via mac- smtp server authentcation issues using Rogers ISP
Hi All,
I know there is tons of comments posted here that are quite redundant in respects to using yahoo mail via mac. I am in Toronto using Rogers as ISP and have set up my pop ok - incoming mail is ok. I try to send a test email and i am getting the message
Cannot send message using the server smtp.mail.yahoo.com
The server response was: authentication required - for help go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-11.html
I hav tried all kinds of stuff here based on suggestions i have read in this forum.
incoming mail server- pop.mail.yahoo.com
outgoing mail server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
server settings- port 587- have also tried 25
ssl not checked
authentication is not checked
i have tried smtp.rogers.broadband.com as an alternative also, but then it simply rejects my authentication password
I am really stuck here- if anyone out there in Toronto area using Rogers, has any feedback, i greatly welcome it.
Hope to hear from you.
Barry

Server authentication.
And i don't think you need to add a password there. You are already sending password from the POP settings - SMTP authentication picks up password from there.
This is from the help file at rogers.com (your ISP?)
http://help.yahoo.com/help/rogers/mail/pop/pop-15.html
Are you sure that using these settings don't work?
This is for Outlook Express for Mac, but your Mail settings should be close enough to find the appropriate boxes.
If your friend is on rogers yahoo, just duplicate her settings except in the address/password boxes.
Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile, so you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Rogers Yahoo! Mail messages. To set this up, follow these steps:
1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Click the "Add" button.
4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
5. In the Display Name text box, type your name, and then click "Next."
6. In the email address box, enter your full Rogers Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
7. In the Incoming (POP3) box, type:
pop.broadband.rogers.com
8. In the Outgoing (SMTP) box, type:
smtp.broadband.rogers.com
9. Click "Next."
10. In the Account Name box, type your full Rogers Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
11. In the Password box, type your Rogers Yahoo! Mail password.
12. If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, then check the box.
13. Do not check the "Log on using secure password... " box.
14. Click "Next."
15. Click "Finish."
To control deletion of messages from the Rogers Yahoo! Mail Server, follow these steps:
1. From the Tools menu, choose "Account."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Double-click on your Rogers Yahoo! Mail account.
4. Select the "Options" tab.
5. In the Server Options section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of each message on the server" if you want to save your Rogers Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Rogers Yahoo! Mail server and on your local computer. If you would prefer to have your messages deleted from the Rogers Yahoo! Mail server after you have received them in Outlook Express, do not check this box.
To change your default SMTP port settings:
1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
2. On the Mail tab, click your Internet Mail account, and then click Edit.
3. On the Account Settings tab, click Click here for advanced sending options, and then type 587 as the port number for your SMTP (or sending) mail. -
Can't send e-mails via Mail with a Gmail e-mail address using Sky internet
Can anyone help? My brother has an iBook G4 Mac OS X 4.1 and is trying to send e-mails via Mail with a Googlemail e-mail account. He is using Sky for his broadband. I assume it has something to do with his outgoing smtp e-mail Preferences in Mail, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. He can receive e-mails OK, its just that when he tries to send he gets the 'server can't send error'. Any ideas?
Here's my gMail IMAP SMTP settings...
smtp.gmail.com
Port 25
Authentication: Password
SSL
Sky may require another port to pass through...
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users. -
How to Maintain documentation (se38) using standard text (SO10)
Hi,
I have created standard text using SO10. Now I want to include the standard text in documentation (SE38) section of my ABAP program.
I tried using /: INCLUDE 'YTEST' OBJECT TEXT ID ST LANGUAGE EN
But the standard text is not showing up when I click the documentation icon in the selection screen.
Can you please let me know how to maintain documentation for ABAP programs using Standard Texts.
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
VidyaHi Mahesh,
In SO10, which format key has been used (AS, /*, /:, *.... to show up in documentation). when you used insert->text-> did you use 'expand immediately' check box. If expand immediately option is used, it won't serve our purpose.

SO10 Yeurope_terms

Waiting for your reply.

What is the use of Standart text in SapScripts.
What is the use of Standart text in SapScripts?
How to Use in Forms?Hi Puja Das,
Welcome to SCN,
As per knowledge, Standard text is mainly meant for Functional People
For eg : Try changing a Sale Order no. In VA02.
If you see the Header or Item details You will find Texts tab. In that you can see Form Header, Header Note1/2.
Here the Functional / User will enter some text according to their understand, when they print regarding they need that text on a FORM.
Thus these text will be stored in a Standard Text format.
And You can Use Standard Text in Script as follows:
/: INCLUDE DATE OBJECT TEXT ID ST

Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad
Alias address from iCloud alias address cannot be used to send mails via iPad
If you still have this concern: You can only use the alias address linked to the main iCloud account that you backup your iPad to. You can check that going to Setting-iCloud and check the Account email address.
I think this restriction is rather rediculous. I don't see why we can't configure an alias from a different iCloud account the same way we do for a Gmail account. I hope Apple fixes this in iOS 6. -

I send mail via SMTP server with Hebrew text, and I get it gibberish on my iphone
What mail program from what kind of computer are you sending your email? It sounds like an encoding problem that would have to be solved on the sending end. If you want, send me an example of the kind of email which arrives as gibberish on your iphone (tom at bluesky dot org).

I have a problem sending mail via smtp. I use a satellite system and the average return time for a ping is 675ms. Is this a problem with mail? If so can I change Mail to accept it. The problem also exists with Lion and on both my MacPro and my wife's Imac. I also see my mailboxes randomly disconnecting and reconnecting. Any other ideas of a possible cause?
I solved it myself, after the "note" which came back from FF/Mozilla just as I finished my message, commenting on what it was that my system had , I wnnt back to check my plug-ins etc. I downloaded the latest Java, BOTH 32bit AND 64 bit versions and latest Firefox.
Now all is working.
Thanks,

Using AppleScript to find specific text in mail message?
I'm new to scripting, and I'm a bit lost on this one...
Is there any way to use AppleScript to find a file name from within the body of a mail message so it can be used later in the script?
Specifically, I want to use AppleScript to "read" the content of a mail message and look for a paragraph that says "Filename: MyFileName" so I can set "MyFileName" as a variable. (There will always be a paragraph that begins with "Filename: " in this particular email message.)
This will part of a larger script that uses Fetch to download "MyFileName" from our FTP server.
Thanks in advance for any ideas - I'm struggling with this one.
Andy GillOk, red_menace above me had a shorter and more elegant solution to the question, I'm adding this just for another example.
To solve your problem I'd make a mail rule that looked for any messages with "Filename:" in them (along with whatever criteria you wanted, like sender, domain, etc). The mail rule would execute the Applescript. My assumption is that the "Filename:foobar" text could be anywhere in the email, not necessarily the first thing in a paragraph, so I had to parse it differently.
The results end up in a datalist, (theFilename {} ) that you can parse later to collect all filenames found in whatever messages were processed.
I realize this could be cleaner, hope it's not hard to follow, but I did it really fast. It works flawlessly for me, picking out the name of the file no matter where in the email it appears.
using terms from application "Mail"
on perform mail action with messages theSelectedMessages for rule theRule
repeat with aCounter from 1 to count theSelectedMessages
set theMessage to item aCounter of theSelectedMessages
set theContent to content of theMessage
set theWords to every word of theContent
set theFilename to {}
set tid to AppleScript's text item delimiters
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to ":"
repeat with thisLoop in theWords
try
if (text item 1 of thisLoop) is "Filename" then
set end of theFilename to (text item 2 of thisLoop)
-- rest of your logic goes here the display is just to show it finds the filename, take it out!
display dialog theFilename ¬
buttons {"OK"}
end if
end try
end repeat
set AppleScript's text item delimiters to tid
end repeat
end perform mail action with messages
end using terms from

Use standard text (SO10) in report(SE38) to compose the body of email
hello experts,
here i wanna create the body of email with a format, hence i decide to use Standard Text. in this Standard Text, i also maintain some variable such &p_name&( i remember it works in forms, such script and ssf), while i define p_name as 'demo' in the program and try to transfer p_name to standard text, it fails. while i check the output of standard text, it show &p_name& instead of demo.
could anyone tell me how to realize this function?
Thanks in advance.

Text limits to the "Question" link prevents a full explanation:
This is a long-time problem. I have tried to resolve it with Apple but their "Customer Support" is merely a name.
I can go online and access my e-mail but when I try to send or receive e-mail via iCloud through my internet server (Google fiber now but the same situation existed with my prior service), I receive "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for 'Apple Email' and try again.
"The server returned the error: The server 'p0-imap.mail.me.com' refused to allow a connection on port 143."
Well, I have verified the setting and tried again and again and …

Maybe you should test these things before calling people out, because these settings do function perfectly well.
iCloud is not supported on Snow Leopard or lower, why bother to mention it?
The OP has an iCloud account, and that can not be opened without Lion or Mountain Lion (on a Mac), IOS5 or 6 (on an iPhone/iPad)
The document I linked to is Apples documentation for iCloud on current devices,I don't care whether you believe that you know better than they do, but it will affect the people who follow your advice as it won't work
