Using Stop Parameter - Motion 3

Question

I have applied Text Tracking behavior to a line of text. I want it to stop when it stretches across the screen before it expands to 2 lines of text.
I can't make that happen.
I have applied stop to the:
* Transform property position
* Object Type On, end
* Behavior, Text Tracking Rate
None of these work
What am I doing wrong?

Delete the Stop behavior. Use the Text Tracking behavior End Offset to set a stop frame. The value you set is the number of frames from the timeline end of the text object (or the end of the behavior if different that the text object's length.)
Another way to go is to also delete the Text Tracking behavior and simply keyframe the Tracking parameter in the Text > Format > Basic Formatting inspector.
Another way to go is to add a Text Animation > Sequence Text behavior. Select Parameter Add > Format > Tracking. Set the maximum % you want to track to. Set Sequencing: To.  Set Spread: 100.0 (shorten it for more interesting effects.) Set the Speed to Custom and keyframe the Custom Speed postiion on your start and stop points. [The project will probably have to be playing to see the change in Custom Speed.]
For an interesting variation, try setting the Direction: Backwards and the Spread to something like 5.
Use the Keyframe editor to add Ease In/Out if you prefer a "non-linear" animation.
