Using SUN Ray thin client for UCCE CAD Agents

Hi,
Does anyone tested the thin client SUN Ray for  Cisco Agent Desktops? Is this supported by Cisco?
We know that  Cisco supports Citrix for Cisco Agent Desktop but using thin client for  IP Communicator is not supported at all.
Thanks.

I guess it all depends on what the SunRay client is connecting to? If it's a VDI, terminal server, or something else as long as that platform is supported by Cisco/CAD then it should be okay - after all the SunRay is just a way of connecting to a desktop environment that then runs the CAD software.
Hope you're SunRay deployment goes well!

  • Sun ray thin client

    Hi ,,,
Suppose we have two servers with two different applications and one Sun Ray Server. How could we direct the Sun Ray Client Sessions to these two application servers simultaneousely??
    Regards,
    Basem

I'd look at logging in to the application servers individually, using ssh and then tunnelling the X display back to the Sun Ray client.
Something like ssh -X host1 on one terminal window and then ssh -X host2 in the other terminal window.
I think this may work. It does on Linux anyway.

  • J2EE Thin Client for BEA

I need to run reports from WebLogic. I downloaded Oracle9i Reports - J2EE Thin Client (J2EE Thin Client for BEA). I am stuck on step 10 of Readme:
    10. Shut down the existing Weblogic server and restart it using startExamplesServer.cmd on the command line or use the link in the BEA program group. Invoke the Oracle9i Reports servlet http://<your_web_server>:<port_number>/reports/rwservlet
If you see the Oracle9i Reports servlet help page, that means that Oracle9i Reports J2EE Thin Client has been installed and configured successfully.
In my case http://<your_web_server>:<port_number>/reports/rwservlet results in

We are having Reports developed in 6i which needs to be migrated to Reports 9i/10G and we want to deploy these reports in web using Websphere Application Server 5.x /6.x without Oracle iAS.
Do we have Reports 9i/10g J2EE Thin Client for Websphere Application Server 5.x /6.x and if so please let me know.
Also if anybody has the configuration details please let me know?
    Thanks in Advance.

No there is not. I don't think you can use reports services with Websphere - besides as far as I know it is not supported by Oracle (not anywhere in their support matrix).

Anyone know when SRSS5 (4.2?) is coming out? Funny I came across SRSS5 today, as just this morning we began research in what it would take to move to LTSP. We have entire departments running off SRSS4.1 on RHEL5. This has been a pretty good solution but Sun insists on keeping SRSS for Linux a poor product when compared to it on Solaris. Things like sound, USB thumb drives, etc are implemented TERRIBLY on their linux software (if at all).
I'd be willing to give SRSS5 a shot if it became available soon. Even a time frame (like end of 2009, spring 2010, etc) would help.

  • Reports9i J2EE thin client for WebSphere

    Hi,
I need to deploy Oracle Reports9i rwservlet in IBM WebSphere 4.0 Application Server.
I have seen the J2EE thin client for WebLogic available for download on OTN. How about one for WebSphere? Is it available? If not, is the Oracle Reports Team working on it and when would it be ready for download?
    Thanks,

    Hi Bharat,
We are working on j2ee thin client for WebSphere. Most of the issues on WebSphere has been addressed, we are finalizing the work and it should be available soon.

  • Setting up oracle thin client for 9i?

Does anyone have experience stting up data pools using oracle's 9i thin client that ships with BEA WLS 6.1? I am on a Sun Solaris box running Solaris 8 and oracle client 9i. I have followed all of the instrcutions (that I can find anyway) and it does not seem to work. Can someone please tell me exactly what to put in each field on the console for the Data Pool and in the classpath?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
Configuration of a connection pool for oracle 9 is the same
    as for oracle 8.
The only thing you should do is downloading a new
classes12.zip that supports oracle 9, and putting it in to
    weblogic class path.
You can download classes12.zip from otn.oracle.com.
To put it to the weblogic classpath you need to modify
    weblogic startup script.

  • Realize a J2ME reporting thin client (for PDA) with XML for Analysis

I'd create a reporting thin client (on PDA or smartphone) that uses the web service XMLA. How I can implement it? Can I use J2ME ?
Can i have more informations ??

I haven't tried generating stubs from WTK, but you could also try to access your WS by programming it. One of the solutions available for most of J2ME devices (MIDP/CLDC) is kSOAP (<a href="http://www.ksoap.org">www.ksoap.org</a>). I've tested it with Apache Axis and .NET-based WS servers - it works just fine, so I assume it should be working with SAP as well. This two articles might be valuable for you:

  • Sun Ray Software Support for OpenSolaris

Hello. I'd like to know, when the SRSS support for OpenSolaris will be available. There is not enough fresh desktop software for Solaris 10 (even blastwave's gnome and kde are too old). Nowadays we have two quite old Solaris 10 terminal servers and we'd like to move them to our new IBM blades. As I understand there are two choices: use Linux and fresh soft or Solaris 10 and old soft. We'd like to use Solaris 11, but SRSS doesn't support it. It seems that we need to switch to Linux. Could we hope that OpenSolaris support will appear in SRSS in a half a year?

It's hard to see how there could ever be formal support for SRSS on any operating system that is as volatile as OpenSolaris. (I'm assuming you mean the distribution named OpenSolaris, originally Project Indiana. If you mean any arbitrary distribution derived from the OpenSolaris source base then that's even less likely.) I can imagine that SRSS might get repackaged or even relicensed in order to make it easier for people to run it on OpenSolaris, but I can't see Sun signing up to provide the traditional multi-year patch-based support program that SRSS has on its current platforms.
Nevada would be a more plausible candidate for some sort of support commitment. Even there it wouldn't be the traditional model, because Nevada is an unreleased snapshot of Solaris.next in the process of being created and it doesn't have the stability guarantees that a finished Solaris release has. Lots of people inside Sun, and quite a few outside Sun, run SRSS on Nevada. According to hearsay that combinatin has been pretty dependable but that's not a good enough foundation for the kind of guarantee that the formal Sun support model offers.
If I was looking for a shinier newer desktop for my Sun Rays I'd run Nevada. I'd pick a release, test it as hard as I could, then stick with it for at least a few months before doing a Live Upgrade to a later release. And I'd keep an S10 machine (or boot environment) around so that if I encounter problems on the Nevada systems I can try to reproduce it on S10, so that I could open support calls against the S10 system. It's not bulletproof -- Nevada may have problems that don't show up on S10 -- but it's at least some sort of safety net. I'd also be sure to subscribe to the sunray-users mailing list at filibeto.org in the hope that that would get me advance warning of Nevada issues, and maybe help with workarounds for issues if any crop up.

  • HPDM using WOL with thin clients using WES8

When using HPDM 4.6 with t620 clients using WES8, the Wake on LAN option does not work.It makes it impossible to do settings and deployments outside office hours. How can this be fixed?

    Hi,
Thin clients normally have a low memory allocation on the video card (8mb to 16MB) so this can be a problem.  Check to see if you can change this in the BIOS on the WYSE.  If not connect at 256 Colours to reduce this.  If you have pictures linked to products then their resolution will not be good but for SAP itself the difference is small.  Also rename the SAPSS.AVI to .old if you have not already done so so that the splash screen does not come up when logging in.
In my multimedia testing on thin clients, unrelated to SBO, I found that both memory and processor power made a huge difference, which is contrary to thin client manufacturer claims.  As an example I used a 200MHz/64MB TC for a flash application and sound was about 3 seconds behind the image and the image update would skip 3 to 5 frames when updating.  Moving to a 800Mhz/128MB TC The frame refresh rate was almost perfect and the sound was only about 0.5 seconds behind.  I would therefore test on a more powerful thin client to see if it improves performance.
The S30 is a 400MHz (rated @ 533 on performance by AMD).   Try a 1GHz TC with the maximum Video memory you can find.
We are currently using VXL Itona 800Mhz/128MB and do not experience too much rolling but we are using 256 colours.
    Hope this helps.

  • JDBC Thin Client for Oracle 8i 8.1.7

    Hi,
Trying to Driver.getConnection(.....); to an Oracle 8i 8.1.7 DBMS. My client: NT4 and JDK1.3.1 and 100% Java Thin Client "classes12.zip" and "nls(?)_classes12.zip" for JDk 1.2.x
getConnection(....) is is timing out and exception says "network adapter could not establish connection....". No doubt, the paramters of getConnection(<parameters>) are valid and correct.
Is it really because the downloaded classes are only for JDK 1.2.x and do not work with jdk1.3.1? In this case I will install jdk 1.2.x again at client host.
Or is there another thing I have not concerned yet? Note I CAN connect to the host the Oracle 8i DBMS is running on (via BEA Jolt to several Tuxedo services as well as via an HTTP request to an CGI script). So the naming service works. Also te host is alive. A collegue confirmed that the database i want to connect to is also alive and running.
Any experienced JDBC programmer who can help me?
    Greetings from Germany, hans

    Hi,
If you get this error, check the follwing things,
    1. make sure you created a listner for your database.
    2. make sure the created your DB listner is up & running as service.
    3. try to connect to database & see that that DB is open for e-transactions (make sure the DB is not in SHUTDOWN mode).
These checks will solve your problem.
    Good luck,
    Rajesh Singh.
