Using tabs

I have an early 2009 iMac with 10.8.4 and Safari 6.0.5. I never have learned how to use the tabs intelligently. I have searched for information on how to use them and I can't find what I need. How does this tab system work? Sometimes I see a lot of tabs on the tab bar and sometimes there are only a few. I think every time I go to a new web page it opens a new tab but I am not sure. Sometimes when the tabs open they are right next to the + sign and sometimes not. Sometimes I think I may see all the tabs and sometimes I think some are not visible-is that possible? I am not even sure why they are here. What use do they have? If there is a description of this somewhere a link would be appreciated.

I can go back and forth to web pages using the arrow keys, but if I want to save the actual page I need to open it in a new tab. If I am on a page I want saved, I need to go to a new page through clicking on the + sign for a new tab. Right?

If I click on the "Show All Tabs" in the view menu it only shows me the last 2 or 3 windows. How can I see the windows in the tabs that were there before I created this new tab.
It should show all the tabs in that window. You may need to scroll left. You can also open a new page and tab that too. But you can't see windows that you've closed. They need to be open. What can do is use your "History "menu.
It says that I can have it so that each time I open a new tab it will open a group of pages I select. How do I do that? It doesn't say.

When using tabbed browsing, if I click to open a new tab, why will it not automatically load my homepage in the new tab instead of a blank window?

I use tabbed browsing with the tab bar visible at all times so I can click on a new tab when convenient.Why can my homepage not load automatically on that newly opened tab insted of a blank screen with a search bar saying "you've opened a new tab".........well yeah. How do I open several PDFs in the same Reader window using tabs for each document? I'm using Reader 11.0.03 and Windows 7.

In past versions of ff I have used Tab Renamizer add-on to allow me to rename the main tab in each profile. Does anyone know of any firefox add-ons that have a similar features to Tab Renamizer?

I run several firefox profiles at the same time. In the past I have used Tab Renamizer to label the main tab in each profile. I like this because then I can tell them a part from the drop-down list in win 7 when switching between profiles. The new version of firefox is not supported by this add-on. Does anyone know of any firefox add-ons that have a similar feature?

core-el, i don't see the advantage of that or i can't figure out how i'm supposed to use it. for starters, i have to click the mouse in order to get "add bookmark here" to open, which is no different than clicking on the star in the location bar, or right-clicking on the page. there are also options in the bookmarks toolbar, but they all require clicking the mouse & holding down the right button, etc.
my goal is to use keystrokes only. typing on the keyboard, using both hands, using the space bar & my left pinky finger to tab over are all painless routines for me. as soon as i have to take my fingers off the keyboard & use the mouse, the pain begins.
as i said, in older versions of firefox, all i had to do to bookmark a page was click ctrl>d, then tab over & arrow down, when appropriate, to find the folder & add the bookmark. for me, as a touch-typist whose speed is between 60 & 80 wpm, this is lightning fast.
if i have this wrong, please correct me. i just see it as more mouse clicks that don't save me time or pain.

Error using tabs in Web Dynpro application

I am working on a web Dynpro application where I want to use "tabs" to display different vendor details, basically I need two tabs one for header data, one for address data. What I did is I created a group and there created the element for the user to enter the vendor number and also created a button and binded it with the BAPI, now I created a tab using tabstrip and then inserting the tab and adding the element to the tab (in my case i m using the table type), once I finish this and try to do the syntax chek i am getting this error: "ACC: Element "TAB" does not have a header"

Looks like i was missing some step... I deleted everything and then re created and this time it works.

How to create and use tabs for WD views

Hi,
I have created two views. A button click from onw view leads to the second view and vice versa.
I would like to add tabs to the two views, in a way that when pressing the button on the first view - the second one will open, and the tabs of both views will be seen, in a way that will enable me to navigate between the views using the tabs.
Is this possible to do? or must I implement one view with a tab strips? (whcih means - rewriting the secod view into the first...)

There is no need to use inbound outbound plugs and navigation links when you use Tab Strip
You have a tab strip control in which you inserted two tabs
each tab contains transparent container which intern contains ViewContainerUIElement, so your Outline looks like this

viewContainerUIElement[ViewContainerUIElement - Child ]

So you have two ViewContainerUIElements in Two Tabs, you need not write any code to navigate if you select second tab second view is displayed and if you select first tab first view is displayed.

How to change gtk theme dialog box button appearance when using tab?

Hi,
I'm using candido as my gtk theme and have noticed that when a dialog box pops up (Yes / No), it is extremely difficult to tell which option is highlighted. How do I change this appearance? I searched through the gtkrc and even used gimp to manipulate the images used via trial and error to see if I found one that worked. Can someone familiar with gtk themes tell me which gtkrc or image to alter to affect this appearance?
I use tab to select my option a ton and hate not being able to tell what I'm looking at.

- here is the current look (can you tell which one is highlighted? It's "Cancel" -- just slightly bigger or a fine line around it) LINK

For one more point of clarification, I'm not talking about the button appearance on mouseover. I have identified that the button-prelight.png file changes that. I specifically am talking purely about a dialog popping up and then using the tab key alone to highlight through the options. I really like this theme, but this one thing drives me crazy. This appearance changes when I select different themes with lxappearance, so I've narrowed it down to being a gtk-theme issue, not my openbox theme or icon set.

Debug the program after you press the CANCEL button , you will get where the conrol is flowing , And instead of using
Leave to screen '910' use Leave to screen 0.

My browser suddenly always opens on the page it was on when it was shut down last and uses tabs even though I have them turned off. I have tried reinstalling.

I have my browser set to open on comcast.net webpage and to never use tabs. I have been using firefox for years and am very familiar with it. Suddenly it has started opening on the last page it was on when shut down, and has started using tabs. When I delete Firefox from my computer, it still remembers all my settings. I had this problem once before years ago and ended up having to wipe my entire drive to fix it. I would like to avoid a drive wipe this time. I need to know how to get ALL of the browsers information deleted from the registry so I can get a truly fresh install. And yes, I have tried all the normal avenues and am pretty computer savvy. Please help before I go nuts. I am running the most recent version, but going back to older versions didn't help either. Thanks.

Another possibility is that Firefox keeps crashing during shutdown, and so Firefox is recovering from a crash every time. To diagnose this, you can change how Firefox recovers from a crash: instead of restoring the previous session, it will show a list of what you had open so you can be selective or bypass it altogether.
Here's where you change that:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''sess''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes''' preference and change the value from 1 to 0 and OK that.
''Note: Please don't change any other sessionstore preferences without researching them first.''

For what would typically be a two column tab stop layout, I'd generally use inline text frames and the Wrap panel.
Put the price in it's own text frame. Then cut and paste the text frame BEFORE the item name so it's an inline text frame within the text frame containing the descriptions.Using the Wrap panel set it to float to the right. Then select it and set the right offset so it floats outside the right side of the original text frame.
Start with this.
Cut and paste the text frame at the start of the item paragraph.
Choose the third icon in the Wrap panel to cause the item to float to the right of the text frame.
Turn off the lock for the 4 wrap offset values.
Adjust the right offset to a negative value so the item is outside the text frame to the right (to wherever you want it).
Repeat the same steps above for the other items.
Note that once it's set up this way you can freely edit the descriptions or change the width of the original text frame and the prices will adjust accordingly. This will also result in things lining up in the browser even if the text layout engine of a specific browser line breaks the text differently.
This approach is tedious, but the end result will continue to line up as you make changes in Design view and will line up in every browser/OS/device.
Someday Muse will support tables, which would be the more natural way to achieve this style of layout on the web. Until then, inline items with wrap is usually the best approach for this type of two column layout.

Efficient way to use TAB item

Most ofter, we are using TAB item cat for our order, one so map to one po, it is the simplest scenario, but sometime, we have inventory, we would like to use the in ventory first, then issue po to purchase item. In that case assign a approval process and workflow to your order types.So when ever an order is saved it will be locked for further activities and unless and until it is released manually by the concerned officer then only it will trigger the future actions. Through workflow the person responsible will get the notification for approval.

I also tried the JFormattedTextField for the IPAddress Object which I created but it would't work that well I have a bad experience with these TextFields it showed me the formate 0.0.0.0 but when I entered the text in it, it jumps of after tow digits in each column

I clicked on some button, then showConfirmDialog is opened, By default the focus is on "YES" button. Now I pressed TAB button and changed to the focus to "NO" button.

Using tabs in keynote?

I'm feeling frustrated because I feel like I am just missing a simple picture here but no matter how I try, I can't see it. I'm trying to use tabs in the Keynote ruler.
I can add tabs all day but they don't seem to have any effect on my document. If I press the tab key, the text will move but seemingly to a random spot. The tabs that I've inserted seem to have no effect. And if I delete all my tabs, the text stays indented with no apparent way to reset things. I know I can command z back to my starting point but I'd really like to get a handle on how tabs work in Keynote.
So am I being incredibly dense on a simple task or is there something fundamentally different in how Keynote handles these tools?

Ok, I think I've got this figured out but it doesn't make much sense to me. Evidently the tabs function only works in the TITLE text box. It doesn't work in a bulleted box, which I guess makes sense to some degree although it seems they'd just not allow you to set tabs for that either. When you tab, it instead advances the bullet indentation.
Same with the subtitle text box. The tabs don't work. But in the TITLE box it appears to function as expected.
So I guess the answer is to reposition and reduce the text for the Title box when you want to use the tabs.

Can't use tabbed browsing since Safari update

Ever since I downloaded the update today I can't browse using tabs. If I go to preferences and changed to tabbed browsing Safari constantly quits.
If I delete my Safari .plist file everything is back to "normal". This is a pretty obvious bug. Anyone else having this problem ? I feel that there are a lot of people out there that do not know to delete their .plist file as a troubleshooting method.

I don't see any non Apple applications listed in the crash log near the top of the Binary Images section and I have not installed anything related to Safari but Windows media player.

Bug when using Tab Images

Hi
I'm trying to use Tab Images in APEX 4.0.1, but have hit a couple of bugs.
Firstly, I'm using the substitution string #TAB_IMAGE# in the page template. This is described in the help as "Image File Name", however this is replaced with the full image tag. I believe the help text is very misleading in this instance.
Secondly, and this is by far the bigger problem, the img tag that replaces #TAB_IMAGE# has the image prefix hard coded into the src! So if the Current Tab Image for my tab is set to http://www.example.com/images/tab1.png then the source for the image in my case is /i/http://www.example.com/images/tab1.png which is incorrect.
This means that images for tabs MUST always be in the directory referenced by the #IMAGE_PREFIX# substitution string.
Am I missing something here? Is there a workaround? Currently we are unable to use Tab Images due to this.

Hello Sara,
The behavior you are describing is a long time known issue. It is a bug that should have been resolved by now, but for some reason was not. Maybe it’s because none of the default (built-in) page templates is using images with TABs.
The workaround is to create your own img tag in the appropriate page template section, using the #TAB_NAME# substitution string. The principle is to name your corresponding images like current_#TAB_NAME#.gif and non_current_#TAB_NAME#.gif, where the #TAB_NAME# part in the file name is replaced with the actual tab name. So, for a TAB called EMP, you’ll have two image files by the names current_EMP.gif and non_current_EMP.gif.
