Using TEDS as storage for precision standards instead of transducers

My company makes and calibrates precision resistance, capacitance and inductance standards. These are not transducers, yet they posess calibration data that would benefit from 'internal storage'. Some data could event be represented as a polynomial or a table (capac vs. freq; resistance vs. temp)
Is there a standard like TEDS for 'source' components; or could TEDS be used to create a built-in datasheet? (Call it "SEEDS", Standards Equipped with Electronic Data Sheet ;-) .
Now is the right time to use %^<%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S%3uZ>T

"You are what you don't automate"
Inplaceness is synonymous with insidiousness

Hello,
As of now, if there is such a standard, I am unaware of it. However, there may be a way to do something like this using TEDS. The IEEE 1451.4 (TEDS) standard does include an optional calibration section where different types of calibration data can be stored. So you may be able to utilize TEDS to store information about the resistors/capacitors/inductors. However, National Instruments software does not currently read in the calibration information and automatically process it.
Something else that could be considered is that along with the calibration section there is a user data section in TEDS format that allows the placement of ASCII data.
Also, with NI-DAQ 7.2, you have the ability to read in a bitstream from a TEDS sensor. So it is also possibl
e to develop your own format and read in the binary information and process it using LabVIEW. However, you would have to understand IEEE 1451.4, and how to write in the proper checksums, and then create your own TEDS sensor, but I do believe it is possible.
Interesting Idea! Keep them coming!

  • What are the caveats of using ASM as storage for RMAN backupsets?

    Hello all,
We are currently evaluating RAC as our standard database platform. Until now we have been using 10g single instance with ASM for datafiles and local filesystems for RMAN backupsets and archivelogs. We chose to use local fileystems for backup components so that we can utilize a Tivoli filesystem backup in order to secure the backup pieces to tape.
With RAC, we are looking into a shared location for backupsets and archivelogs. OCFS2 is out of the picture due to it not functioning on top of linux LVM. It appears that our only "shared" option is to use ASM for backupsets and archivelogs.
My concern is that while the data diskgroups and rman diskgroups will be separate, they are both running on ASM and therefore if ASM fails or is corrupted, we have nothing. My current plan is to utilize the Tivoli RMAN MML (TDPO) to backup the backupsets to tape after the ASM backupset has completed.
What experiences have been had with using ASM for RMAN backups?
Any advice on additional protection we can employ to ensure that the database remains recoverable?
    Thanks in advance,
    David

I've personally haven't implemented RMAN with ASM, but you may want to review Faster Backup, Faster Recovery which discusses RMAN utilizing ASM.
And although you may not get any of the negative aspects from these presentations, you may want to check out High Availability Customer Case Studies, Presentations, Profiles, Analyst Reports, and Press Releases.
    Hope this helps!

  • Using iPhone as Storage for any docs

Does anyone know how can I user iphone as storage device? I had motorola phone with 8 gigs mem card, where I could drag any docs (word, excell or any pics and music) I know it's pain here already with all the podcasts that I downloaded to transfer to a different PC, how can I transfer Word docs?

You mean you want to be able to take work files from one computer, upload them to the iPhone, then download them another, different computer? Just making sure I understand what you want to do.
I do not know of any universal file transfer app like that, other than using some cloud-type storage perhaps as a go between computer(s) and iPhone.
For MSOffice docs specifically, there is QuickOffice, which allows editing of MSOffice documents on the iPhone. QO transfers files between computer and the iPhone via an embedded (in the app on the iPhone) wifi web server. You enable the file transfer web server on the iPhone, and then connect via a URL in a web browser on any computer you wish that is on the same wifi subnet. Once the web page loads on the computer, you can upload or download files to/from the iPhone.
Because of the app compartmentalization of the iOS, the office files on the iPhone would only be accessible from within QuickOffice.

  • Can a family member use my iCloud storage for photos?

Hope I'm not being obtuse, but the answer to this isn't clear to me from the various "help" menus.
The situation is complicated by my living 50 miles from my elderly father.
I need about 50 GB for my photos, but have to pay for 200, of course.
So, is there a way for my Dad, who is a member of my iCloud/App/Whatever family to move HIS photo library from HIS computer to MY iCloud account without having to purchase more iCloud space for his personal account? (His photo library also - barely - exceeds the limit of the next increment of storage available so that i'll have to buy him 200GB if there isn't a way to share the storage from my iC account.
Hope this question is understandable - I don't know how else to frame it.
    Thank you for all responses.

Duh! Nevermind. I think I definitely WAS being obtuse about how to share photos.

  • Using an XML file for server URL instead of hard coding

    I can't find a good example.
Could someone give me an example of using a local XML file to set a server url variable so i don't have to hard code url's?
This works and i can trace the xml file but how do i access the individual xml data nodes?
    protected function initApp():void
         var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(new URLRequest("config.xml"));
         loader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,configLoadComplete);
    private function configLoadComplete(event:Event):void
         trace(event.target.data);

    Hi,
<a href="foobar.xml">right click and select save as from the context menu</a>
    or
write your xml data or a copy of it with a different extension (text) so that it is not parsed as application/xml-xhtml
    or
Use AJAX to retrieve the xml file and display it as the textContent of a <textarea>
window.open wraps the xml markup in html tags for display purposes.

  • Using network-attached storage  for logic 9

My iMac's FW 800 Bus is no longer working says my Local Authorised Apple Repair centre
Why and how it failed noone knows
    Option 1
New Mother Board  = £600  No thankyou
    Option 2
    New Computer
    Option 3
Transferring my 350Gig Sample Librrary  (IvoryII/Omnisphere/Rmx/LASS etc ) to an ethernet based system
Anyone got any thought on the latter
Would an NAS system or a SAN system be able to read and write fast enough?

network attached storage was very slow, not to mention unsecured... i would suggest getting the new apple airport extreme base station and attaching an external USB disk instead.

  • Linked content using RH project name for topic title instead of FM file/heading name

Anyone seen this before? (and, yes, for anyone who is interested, the epub of my book should be available once I get this solved)
    -Matt
PS: the htm filename is fine, it's just the topic title that's odd.
    Message was edited by: mattrsullivan

I'm pretty sure that was in reference to setting Topic Title markers...not something I want to do in a 700 page book!
More info: The book processes and validates a clean EPUB if I omit the index, and throws 300+ errors when I include the index.
Via Notepad++. the index shows <section name=(the project name)>, so I imagine it's taking offense at the eleventy-six files with the exact same topic identifier.
    Anyone seen this before??

  • What should I do if I want to use a registered (unused) serial number intended for Mac, for my PC instead?

I have a registered serial number intended for Adobe CS6 Master Collection for Mac.
I have not used it on my Mac yet. If I want to use that serial number for my PC instead, what should I do?
I've contacted support to see if I can get it switched over, but got no response back.

Hey John, thanks for the quick reply!
I have actually filled out that form already (just 2 days ago, in fact!) but I can't just sit here twiddling my thumbs
I'm kind of in a rush. Is there anything I can do to make the process smoother, easier, for Adobe to respond faster?

  • Firewire storage for RAC

    DB Version: 11.2.0.2
    OS : Solaris 5.10
We are thinking of setting up a RAC db(Development) with a Firewire 800 device as our Shared storage. We are thinking of buying a 2 port Firewire Storage device mentioned in the below URL along with 2 firewire PCI cards for both of our machines.

I have read in other OTN posts that RAC with firewire storage is only good for Demo purpose. Does this mean that it is not good for development DBs at least?

I have read in other OTN posts that RAC with firewire storage is only good for Demo purpose. Does this mean that it is not good for development DBs at least?Oracle "supports" this in a pure development environment. There is (or was) an Oracle owned mailing list that specifically dealt with this - using firewire shared storage for RAC.
Some years ago I tried it (with a Lacie drive). But could not get both RHEL3 servers to open a connection to the drive. The config was correct, but the 2nd server always failed to establish a connection (complaining something like that no more connections were supported to the drive). I put that one down as a driver bug of sorts - and were not keen to go bug hunting and build the driver from source code. Left it at that - but according to the docs I read (from Oracle) at the time, this was a "valid" config for testing RAC.

  • Use time capsule drive for mass storage instead of time machine

I'm considering buying a new Airport Extreme with the time capsule drive.  I'd interested to know if I can use the built in drive as an additional HD verses using it for a back up drive with time machine?  I'm aware I can plug in a USB external drive for network storage, but would like to use the built one for storage as well.  Anyone know if this is possible?

I just got a 2TB time capsule a few days ago to use as a "poor man's file server" for my iTunes library. Bob makes valid points, and I am aware of the limitations, but I think it will meet my needs for awhile. I am in the process of ripping a large DVD collection and my iTunes library is over 350gb which was starting to feel crowded on my MBA's 512gb SSD.
I have plenty of external USB and thunderbolt drives, but I wanted wireless access to the libary anywhere in the house. With the AC wireless on my 2013 MBA, I wouldn't really classify the time capsule as "quite slow", I'm seeing about 30MB/s for FInder file copies. I have a 1TB USB2 WD Passport drive and the speed is very comparable - about 35MB/s. Sure, it's not as fast as my thunderbolt drive at 190MB/s or SSD at 700MB/s, but it seems to work well for my content (I don't use HD video in iTunes).
The only noticeable issue is that the TC disk spins down almost immediately if it isn't in use, so you get a lag of a few seconds if you pause a movie for a minute. And it takes longer to start iTunes of course. For me, these were acceptable trade-offs to allow my library to grow to 2TB without any directly connected external storage.
I wanted an AC router regardless and the TC gives me a wireless disk for $100 more. In the future I can always add a "real" media server and let the TC do backups. But for now I'm happy with the way it works.

  • Animated gif icon for an exception instead of the standard icon?

    Hello,
is there a possibillity to use an animated gif icon for an exception instead of the red standard icon in a web template?
I tried  to change the standard icon s_s_ledr.gif against an animated gif icon in the mime repository, but it does not work. In the IE the icon is still shown without animation.
Maybe I´ve changed the wrong icon?
    Can you please help me?

    Hi Andreas,
it is possible to integrate own symbols for exceptions. If you can use animated gif I don't know. However there is a post over here explaining the usage of the modification for symbols:

How do I turn off the alt scroll zoom?
When I'm in Adobe photoshop and illustrator using the pen tool, alt is utilized for another short cut.  I would like to use the alt command for the pen tool instead of zooming into the screen.

I tend to select things from left to right and every time I am moving in a downward right diagonal motion during lasso selection I am missing a clear view and I am tending to have a more sloppy selection.  All this does is slow me down since I need to go back and hit those areas again.  The big arrowhead just get's in the way.  The original lasso tool with the thin line and small active point at it's lower left was far better for me.
I don't like turning the cursors to precise because I like to see the active tool icon where my cursor is and as the icon changes as I hold modifier keys down.  If I am forced to get comfortable with using pricise cursors I guess I will, but man, I've never had to do this in my 15 years of photoshop use...
I would absolutely LOVE to find a way to get the old lasso icon -- without the arrowhead above it.
Is there any chance this option could be inlcuded in cursor preferences?  I'd give much thanks, Adobe.

  • Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Im completely new to Mac. Im swapping my windows laptop for macbook pro and looking for network storage solution which the Time Capsule seems to do. Is it possible to use this as NAS for my desktop Windows PC - windows 7

Broadly speaking I want some sort of network storage( wireless or through my existing wifi router) that I can access files for both my windows PC and Macbook and also to access files to my iPad/ iPhone. Some sort of backup and sychronisation so that I can access certain files remotely.
Buy a real NAS.. synology or QNAP are the standard... although companies like Netgear and Western Digital and Seagate make them as well.
There is no problem sharing between Mac and PC now.. you do not even need a NAS to do that.. you simply share the hard disk directly. Mac talk SMB.. everything talks SMB nowadays.. so it is easy.
ipad and iphone are not designed to use NAS.. they are designed to backup only to the cloud or itunes.. but you can load an app like file browser if you want.
    http://www.stratospherix.com/products/filebrowser/
Remote access to the Apple TC is somewhere between difficult, to impossible from a PC.. Apple use BTMM and iCloud but the service is not offered to PC.
A real NAS will offer HTTPS or SFTP or several other methods.. that both Mac and PC can use.
You simply plug it into the current wireless router.. it is a network device and assessable over the network. It is not necessary to buy another router.. in fact that is a waste.
