Using Telstra Air With your own modem

Hello Everyone,
I received a Telstra Gateway max in the mail for upgrading to one of Telstra's latest bundles.
To be honest i am not too fond of any of Telstra's modems i noticed the device has a wan port on the back of it.
I then had a thought that i could hook the modem up to my current modem and use the Gateway max to use Telstra Air.
So here is my current setup
<Modem>--------<Telstra Gateway Max>
All my computers connect to the main modem and the gateway max has a single access point enabled but with SSID broadcast disabled.
The configuration changes i have done in the gateway max is just putting my pppoe username and password in.
And this all works wireless devices can now see and connect to Telstra Air and Fon WiFi

Thanks for that Gibbsy, handy info fopr those looking for a similar work around.

  • Use Remote DVR With Your own Router And A Nim.

After some experimenting i have hopefully figured out how to get both Caller Id on tv and Remote dvr to work using these TCP port forwards to static ip's for your dvrs and set top boxes using a nim. In your router go to port forwarding and forward ports 35001 - 35009 use as many as needed for the amount of set top boxes you have. I was also informed by a tier 2 tech support person that in order for the set top box to always start listener 2 which is the TCP listener you need to spoof you wan mac address of you unsupported non verizon router to that of a dlink. Because dlink was verizons original setup and when there system sees a dlink router it knows to assign the TCP listener which is listener 2. I tried to get UDP to work using 63145 udp port. It just doesn't work. If you use this method you loose verizon's support. Oh and if your box is stuck on Listener 1 call verizon and ask to speak or request that they switch it to listener 2. I would do this before you switch the router it makes it much easier.

    Hi,
I have found a workaround but SHAME on NOKIA BROWSER.
I have loaded OPERA MINI and it works: I have got the page of my NETCAM even if it is not possible to get the video because OPERA does not support ACTIVEX (DCS-2120 requires an acticeX to be loaded the first time)
WHO IS GOING TO TELL NOKIA ABOUT THEIR BROWSER ISSUE?
I hope that my experience will help other N95 users.
Now, I am going to get the video stream with realplayer.
    Bye

  • How do I install 10.9.1 directly using an Air with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard?

How do I install 10.9.1 directly using an Air with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard? My friend shared a copy of the 10.9.1. installer but i can't seem to make it work. Help please!

Your friend's installer is tied to his computer, and will require his Apple login id to insall, as well as any future updates.  Since you have Snow Leopard, 10.6.8, use the App Store app and create your own Apple login to download Mavericks from the App Store.  It is free.
    Have a nice day.

  • Use Telstra Air

Find Telstra Air® hotspots in Australia
You can find Telstra Air hotspots by using the Telstra Air® App or by visiting Telstra.com/air and selecting Find a Hotspot.
The range of a Telstra Air® hotspot
Wi-Fi hotspots have a range of up to 20 metres indoors but in optimal conditions can reach up to 50 metres outdoors.
The range of a Wi-Fi hotspot is impacted by a number of factors including surrounding buildings, interference from other wireless devices, weather conditions and the number of other users.
For best results we recommend staying close to the hotspot and keeping an eye on your device’s Wi-Fi signal strength.
    Find your nearest hotspot
Telstra Air® activation and your home gateway
When you activate Telstra Air on your home broadband account it triggers a firmware update to your gateway. This update enables your gateway to become a Telstra Air hotspot and broadcast a separate Wi-Fi network alongside your private home network.
You will notice that a ‘Fon WiFi’ network name is also being broadcast. The Fon Wi-Fi network is the same as the Telstra Air Network, but can be accessed by Fon’s overseas community and by customers buying a guest pass from Fon.

    Re: Use Telstra Air
I have downloaded Telstra air on my Apple iPad, and when I try and log in with my "my account" details Telstra air is not coming up . I have checked my account details and it's not coming up there either. I have checked wireless networks and not coming up

  • I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

I bought a used macbook air, with reinstalled the OS without iMovie. How can I get iMovie on App free of charge as a default in macbook air ?

Unfortunately, as recommended by the lady from CA, as long as the Mac is still associated with the Apple ID of the original owner, you can't even buy those iLife apps with that Mac. You will always get the alert to download them with the original owner's Apple ID.
As suggested by the chavo from España, you need the original owner to contact Apple Care* and request that the OS and the iLife apps be disassociated from his Apple ID. Then you should be free to OS X Recovery to resinstall the most recent version of OS X that shipped with the Mac and install the iLife apps. Afterward, before using any of the iLife apps you need to open the Mac App Store (MAS) to the Purchases pane and Accept these apps into your MAS account's Apple ID. If you use any of the iLife apps before you have accepted them into your account, as per the app's Terms of Use, they all become one-trick-ponies that can not be downloaded onto another Mac or updated.

*If you bought the Mac from a 2nd hand shop and don't have access to the original owner, you may need to provide Apple a purchase receipt to offer proof of sale.

  • HT4913 i am trying to get my computer and my wifes computer on my itunes match.  i did the add a computer function and it says that this computer is already associated with an apple id...if you use itunes match with your apple id etc for 90 days...please

i did the add a computer function and it says that this computer is already associated with an apple id...if you use itunes match with your apple id etc for 90 days...please explain.  is this going to screw my wifes account up?

If you both have seperate iTunes Store accounts then basically, yes, it is going "screw up" your wife's account.
iTunes Match is designed as a single-user service which is associated with one and only one iTunes Store account ID. If you have subscribed on your account and want to activate the service on another computer that is already signed in with an account the present account must be signed out and then iTunes signed into your account. This means the other computer will have complete access to your account and will only be able to make purchases on your account. iTM is not designed to be signed in and out at will. If she has apps purchased with her iTunes Store account they will not be able to be updated.

  • Can i use iCloud keychain with my own passwords and not with what is assigned and stored?

Can i use iCloud keychain with my own passwords and not with what is assigned and stored?

    tammersalem wrote:) <-HDMI-> (HDTV)
    My main concerns are:
-If I use iTunes on my main computer, will it then be available to Apple TV?
-If I use Apple TV to download will it be available to my Main computer?
-Can the Apple TV use a media server for storage over LAN (using NTFS Samab or otherwise)?
Basically iTunes feeds AppleTv with media either syncing (copying to it) or streaming live.
Media must be compatible with AppleTV.
AppleTV requires a proper iTunes instance running - it cannot access a NAS directly.
If you store media in a folder on a NAS and it's part of the computer iTunes library (just stored on the NAS vs internal/external drive), then when running iTunes makes this content available to AppleTV.
    Data will travel:
NAS > network > iTunes > network to AppleTV
As the path is potentially slower than internal/external attached drive > iTunes > network > AppleTV, it may or may not work robustly for streaming.
If AppleTv is set to sync (it can also stream in this mode), when you purchase direct on AppleTV, the media should sync back to where the itunes library is stored (via iTunes) to keep things in sync and to allow you to backup the media.
You cannot drag/drop media to/from AppleTv across the network, nor can it directly access storage itself - iTunes is an essential cog in the wheel.
The majority of commercial 'in-built iTunes media servers' will not work directly with AppleTV as it has to be 'paired' with iTunes by entering a numerical code in iTunes and does not simply see 'shared libraries'.

  • Using Firewire devices with your MacBook

My wife recently purchased a new MacBook and decided that she wanted to try editing video from our camcorder. We have a Sony DCR-HC26 with firewire and USB 2.0 ports. If necessary, we can use the software provided by Sony and the USB port to import the video but Sony says that the video quality is much better using the firewire port. Unfortunately, Apple chose not to provide a firewire port on the new MacBook and there are no ports for installing a card. Is anyone aware of options available to use firewire devices with your MacBook? It seems as though this would be a common problem given the number of legacy firewire devices out there. I researched adapters but the only one I found is currently only supported by Windows XP and that doesn't do us any good. Thanks for the help.

The current white Macbook and the Macbook Pro has Firewire.
    http://www.apple.com/macbook/white/
    http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/
There are no USB to Firewire adapters. (Desperate aluminum Macbook owners are looking, but it can't be done.) Firewire MUST be in the computer.

  • I have comcast as my email and my wife has uses the account with her own email address.  I have my address book and she has hers.  My problem is that my address book comes up on her ipad even when she's signed in to her account.

I have Comcast as my IP.  My wife also uses my account with her own email address.  I have my address book and she has hers.  My problem is on her ipad, my address book comes up with her account.  Any ideas on how I can get her address book on her account?

It sounds like you're both syncing with the same computer log-in so the sync mechanism thinks that you're one person.  You need to set up separate computer log-ins so that you have separate iTunes operation.

  • HT5622 Have 3-yr. old i-Mac with establshed Apple ID.  Wife just got new i-Pad Air with her own e-mail address AND set up her Apple ID for it .  Both use the same Apple Airport in home for wireless.  Question:  Do we have or maintaing separate APPLE IDs f

Question:  Does new i-pad Air when set up have different Apple ID from the one set up when bought i-Mac 3 years ago?  Using same
Apple Airport for wireless when in home.  Did her new i-Pad Apple ID change the one set for the old i-Mac?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

  • Using Airport Extreme with Linksys Router/Modem

I was just told that my Mac mini is excruiatingly slow on the internet because I am using a Linksys router with Xfinity and that Airport Extreme will be much faster.  And that I should plug Airport Extreme into the modem.  When I checked, I don't have a separate modem.  My Linksys is a combined router/modem.    What should I do?  Do I plug the Airport Extreme into the Linksys box, or do I get a completely different modem that is only a modem?  And, if I plug Airport Extreme into the Linksys box, how do I configure the network for Airport Extreme, and what else do I need to do?   All help greatlly appreciated...I can barely get onto the Apple website!

When I signed up with Xfinity one of the stipulations was that they would not install a router/modem but only a modem. I had heard of problems with their router/modem and I didn't want to go down that path.
I don't but you mighht be able to get them to change out your router/modem for a modem. I would start there by asking them.

  • Can I use a headset with its own mic with my iPhone?

I know we can't use brand names with AD but I do want to know if a headset will preempt the mic on the iPhone. It seems to defeat the whole purpose of hands free driving when i have to cradle the iphone in my lap or actually hold it while talking. I also have had decreased hearing over the years (sigh) and I much prefer a wired headset that allows me to hear from both ears. People are always telling me I'm talking in a hall when I set the iphone on my lap or on the seat next to me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Of course you can.
My wife and I use Ultimate ears headsets with built in mics all the time.

  • Are you using Image Browser with your Mac?

I am wondering if I am the only one with this problem. It seems that somehow Image Browser doesn't want to get alone with my iMac 10.4.11. I have called Apple tech support deleted, cookies, ran utility disk etc.
It it didn't help. Every time that I touch Image Browser just to expand the page, the wheel will turn, and turn, and forget it I'm trying to do anything with the thumbnails. And if I am trying to delete a thumbnail there is a delay factor.
On the other hand, I have no problem using DPP also from Canon but I prefer using I Browser or in conjunction with DPP.
Please let me know if you had this problem and how you fixed it

I like the Canon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV High Definition Camcorder
I use it more with iMovie 06 (need for making DVDs) than with iMovie 09. Works with both using Firewire.
Why tape? It's cheap and convenient. Tape is patient. I can do it on my schedule. With a hard disk, it can get full at a time that is inconvenient to transfer but I need to do some more shooting. Then I would have to consider the dreaded DELETE of something I shot. With tape I can postphone transfering and editing for months without impairing my camera readiness. After I transfer, I still have the tape.

  • Musical typing with your own audio files

Ok so I want to know if it is possible in Garageband to assign the musical typing to your own sounds? For example, I imported a kick and a snare and I want to trigger both the kick and the snare over a sample to make a complete beat.
