Using templates & blank pages

I am using the resume template. I want to use the template for page one, but not have the graphics or same layout in page 2. How do I break from the template? I read in the manual all i have to do is go to pages menu and 'insert > blank page' but the pages function is constantly greyed out. No matter where I click on the page I can not 'insert > pages'. I am currently using the 30 day trial version. Could this have anything to do with it?

Welcome to Apple discussions.
You don't say which resume template you're using -- there are several of them. Anyway, I chose the one called Typewriter Resume. I put my cursor at the end of the document, then clicked on Insert > Page Break. The graphic repeated on the next page because it's defined as a master object. To delete it from page 2, select the graphic, then click on Format > Advanced > Move Object to Page, then hit the Delete key.

How to create slideshow for pictures on blank page

G'day,
I'm just starting to use iWeb 09 and would like to ask a really basic question. My apologies in advance if it has been asked and answered in the past.
I have created a page using the "blank page" template and added some text and pictures. On the photo page, I understand that you can click on a photo to see a larger version and to run a slideshow. Is it possible to create this functionality for pictures placed on a blank page? Or is this functionality only available on a photo album page?

I believe you can do so. Create the photo page, click on the thumbnail layout box and copy it. Go to the blank page and paste. You'll have to lengthen the page using the Inspector/Page/Layout pane so the entire thumbnail layout box is visible in the body. Then go back and delete the photo page.
This test slideshow page was copied from another site in iWeb and pasted on a blank page: PhotoCopy. It seems to work just like the Photo page.

How to open a Template when Pages is already open

I have just copied and pasted some text into a blank pages document. I want to convert this doc. to a letter head that I made a template for.
I would like to open the template, then copy/paste the first doc info into the template doc.
I haven't been able to figure out how to open a template when a document is already open.

I did set the preferences to New Documents> Use Template: Blank, to stop endlessly having to choose a template when I don't need one.
When I pull down File, there is no New from Template Chooser. File>New just opens another blank file.
To check, I went back and enabled "Show Template Chooser". Now it demands I choose a template whether I want to or not.
OK, it seems Apple is forcing you into either/or. I want both/and. I don't want to be forced to choose a template when 99% of the time I don't want anything but a blank file. It is a nuisance. But the occasional time I am composing something and decide it would be better off as a universal doc with letter head, I am stuck and cannot choose open a template so I can stick the material in it.
The options are lousy. Close/save the doc, reset the preferences to templates, shut down Pages, restart pages, select template, open old doc, copy/past old text into new template. Or, while the original doc is open the first time, I could go find a stored doc with the right letter head template, open it, copy/paste the previous text into the letter head doc (and delete everything else).
Neither of these options is worth a wooden nickel. Apple needs to think this one through again. Like have multiiple buttons with View on it, doing different things. At least they got rid of using the paragraph symbol for two or three different functions.

Why does caps lock on every time I open new blank page

Every time I open a new blank page, the Capitalization switches on. It doesnt happen with the other pages I choose. Just the blank document page. This annoying habit continues as I start a new line, and sometimes the underline and Bold format pops on also. I have to keep going into the format header and keep switching them off. After a lot of experimenting, I believe this malfunction is what is screwing up my uploads to the web, by messing with the script. Has anyone encountered this problem or know how to fix it? It only happens with the darkroom template blank page which is the one that my site is built with. I've tried clearing the cache, rebooting ect.

The first two text boxes in the Darkroom page are all caps. But any new text box will be both upper and lower case. It's designed that way. If you want to use lower case then delete those boxes and add new ones in their place.
You can try reinstalling iWeb but I don't think it will help. I'm on a new iMac and that's how the Darkroom theme works on all the pages. The top text box and the next one down.

Is a totally blank page possible??

On opening a new page in the White Templates using the "Blank Page", there is always that framework.
Is it possible to have a totally blank canvas on which to work?

If by "framework" you're referring to the navigation menu, underline and "Text" heading ...no, I don't think there is ~ you have to remove them each time.
If you're referring to several thin rectangular outlines, then from iWeb's View menu choose +Hide Layout+.

Create a blank page without custom master page applied,left navigation,top navigation

hi,
i am having a requirement where in i need to a show a report- which is actually a 3rd party tool's custom web part -. this web part is a report which has lot of metadata. so customer doesnt want to see the custom master page
or left navigation, top navigation, right nav in this page.
is it possible to achieve a blank web part page that doesnt have custom master page applied- i mean this page should not inherit the my custom master page- and just add the custom web part here.
help is appreciated!

2. remove applied master page for an existing page
3 use &isdlg=1 on your URL ( to hide the top of the master page elements )

Using photo album page to connect to movie page

I wanted to create movie pages, but put them under an album page so I could group several video pages and not have all the movie pages listed in the top links. The movie frame is displayed on the album page correctly, but after it is published it doesn't work properly. When I click on the movie frame it will play the wrong video from a different page even though it is displaying the text from the right page. I've made several movie pages and it rarely plays the right video. Has anyone else tried this?

So, I tried loading 1 movie in My Album and uploaded it to my .mac.
Worked fine.
Then added a 2nd movie to My Album.
Only one of the movies worked for the two.
So, then deleted My Album, used a blank page and created a table of contents linked to several movie pages.
Didn't work. Only one movie played for all.
Still looking for a solution.

Insert page using a template page instead of a blank page

How do I insert a new page or section using my own template? I can only insert a blank page or section.
But I want to use the same template page as my first page uses.

To answer my own question - that feature was removed from pages. I went back to the old version. There is a simple menu choice to do just what I wanted. I will stick with the older version.

How to insert blank page into pages document when using word processing mode?

I've recently created a 50+ page document using Pages '09. I started the document using word processing mode. Now, when I view in thumbnail mode and try to insert a blank page somehwere in the middle of the document, it won't allow me to select where I want. It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section. I believe this is because I am in word processing mode. My question is, can I convert the document to layout mode so that each page represents it's own section, without losing what work I've already done? And if so, how?
The document is entirely text boxes and images, so I don't have any need for word processing space. I just need new pages to act as blank templates for the text boxes and images I create.
Is it possible to keep all my work as is, and convert the document to layout mode vs. word processing mode?

It just selects all the pages, as thought they are one section.
That's because they are one section. You must insert section breaks to separate them. There is no need to use page layout which does make each page a separate section. You have to manually add each page & use text boxes or other containers for the text & link the text boxes.

On an iPad, how do I insert a blank page between two using iWork Pages?

I realize how many times I used the word 'pages' in the question, I was unable to think of a less confusing way to word it. :)
I am using an iPad with Pages loaded on it. All software is up-to-date. I have downloaded a few templates apps to use with it. I have figured out how to add a blank page to the end of the document (by hitting enter at the base of the previous page before it). However, I would like advice or assistance adding a blank page between two existing pages. The other "trick/work around" is not effective. I'd even appreciate learning how to change the order of the pages so I may place the blank sheet where I need it.

Position the cursor where desired by touching the screen. In the selection bubble that appears, i.e., Select, Select All, Paste, Insert, choose Insert and from the insert menu choose Page Break. Two Page breaks will produce a blank page.

Location of DW "blank page" templates

I want to copy DW's "blank page" templates to another folder, to use with another text editor. I've done a little searching, but have only been able to find locations for user-created templates. I know I could open the templates in DW and "save as," but I'd rather not have to do that for each file type. Can anyone tell me the location of these files? I'm using DW CS3 on a Mac. Thanks.

The location in Windows is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration\DocumentTypes\NewDocuments. For a Mac, you should be able to find them at the same location by replacing C:\Program Files with Applications.

Lost prompt to update pages that use template..

Yes I know I should not use templates but I do on very small sites with under 10 pages. When making adjustments to the templates I used to get a prompt asking me if I want to update pages that use that template, but I no longer get that. I must have changed something but I am wondering how I can change it back. I can manually update but I always forget and I do not wantto go that route....anyone know how I can get that prompt back to update pages that use template? Thanks much!

No, I've suggested SSI's instead of Library items, or a combination of SSI's and a template instead of nested templates, but I've never suggested using SSI's instead of templates, although it is a workable solution.
I dont think it matters what I have in the code. It used to prompt me whenever I changed ANYTHING and had to save.
I do. However, try this simple test -
1. Create a new, blank HTML file.
2. Save it with FILE | Save as Template... (verify that the page is saved in the "Templates" folder)
3. Spawn a new child page from this template with FILE | New > Page from Template.
4. Save this page with any name you prefer.
5. Return to the template page and change the title from Untitled document to "Whatever". Save it. Are you prompted? You should be.
If you are not prompted then there is something systemically wrong with your DW installation.

How to create a blank page template?

I'm using HTMLDB 2.0 and want to create a completely blank page - when I choose "View Source" on browse it must have no code.
I've created a template with all regions (header, body, footer, etc...) empty, and applied it to a empty page (no regions, items or anything) but when I view it's source on the web browser I always get this empty javascript block:

I need a really empty page. What must I do for this Javascript block disappears from my empty template?

I have the same problem when I try to create an XML template: an unwanted script tag. In addition the footer definition is repeated for some reason.
Any ideas how to get rid of the script tag and repeated footer?
My template is blank except for the following header:

Why do all of the default templates just open a blank page?

Using Visio 2013 Standard, when I go to create a new drawing it doesn't matter if I select a Blank Drawing or a Wirefram Diagram or a Network Diagram, they all open a blank page in Visio with no shapes/stencils on the left. Why do all of the default templates
open a blank drawing and how can I change that?

As far as I know, we can use the different templates among the different Visio 2013 versions. Based on my test, Visio 2013 Standard version lists the unavailable templates category. Unfortunately， we can't use the stencils which are available in
Visio 2013 Pro version. I'll collect the this information and submit it with internal ways.
