Using templates [subject edited by moderator]
I do not understand the usage of the Template feature. I have a site folder, and uploaded successfully my index.html file to the website/internet.
Then, I made a template out of the index file. Dreamweaver created a Templates subdirectory, and changed the file to index.dwt. All subsequent pages have .dwt. Tried to upload the index file and related pages to the web, but apparently the web/internet does not read .dwt. Consequently, how do I create a 100 page website using templates, and then upload them to the internet so the internet can read them?

The .dwt files are not uploaded to the web (nor should you ever find one there) - they only affect your local HTML files, which must then be uploaded. A template is used to spawn child pages (the method depends on which DW you are using) and it's the child pages you upload.
Templates are NOT intuitive, and require a little study before you can use them effectively. You'll find some help under the F1 help in DW.

Antimusic: While it is not possible to upload an Adobe video to your site, you can embed a video from http://tv.adobe.com using the embed code for the video. Is that what you were looking for?

Template not updating child pages {subject edited by moderator}
I used templates for the sprymenu bar throughout the site. Recently, when i updated my nurse template (change the "2012 Upgrade" to "Upgrade" on the horizontal bar (see the red highlighted line in the code) and saved my change, I could not see the prompt asking me to confirm the updating of those linked child pages. I guessed i must have messed up the linking between the template (Nurses_Contentpage.dwt) and child pages (Nurses-inpatient.html and more html files). Where should I look at to fix this? Thanks!

If that were the case then DW would not change the links to file:/// links. Are you sure they didn't start that way? Typically they get that way when you insert an element into the page that is *outside* the root folder for the site.
For the nurse template, there are 6 child pages. I am using a total of 5-6 templates and each template has 3-6 child pages.
I don't see any reason why you would need so many templates for this simple layout. I haven't encountered a site I couldn't do with a single template yet. However, that's not answering your question.
Is this lack of propagation of changes true for ALL your templates in this site or only one? Also, do you see it happen on other sites? -

Starting from the basic initial setup, I am trying to move the sample Links so that they are underneath the title and side by side. Now they are almost all side by side, but the extra Links I added are dangling below the initial four Links. How do I space it properly? [content edited by moderator]

1) Padding is only placed on the top and/or bottom of the block elements. The elements within these blocks have padding on their sides. This saves you from any "box model math". Keep in mind, if you add any side padding or border to the block itself, it will be added to the width you define to create the *total* width. You may also choose to remove the padding on the element in the block element and place a second block element within it with no width and the padding necessary for your design.
2) No margin has been given to the columns since they are all floated. Using Templates and editing Oracle's default templates
I would like to create a custom template to be used by my portal pages. Where do you go to create a template or edit one of oracle's
pre-existing templates . I am using version 3.0.91. Click on Navigator Icon
2. Click on Application Tab
3. Click on Shared Components
4. Click on User Interface Templates
5. Copy any existing template to your own template name.
6. Edit the new template.

If this is totally messed up (possibly a great chance of this..), don't be shy to politely ask or see the template! I am desperate and will reply immediately. THANKS SO MUCH! CS6 page settings using Property inspector will not save [subject edited by moderator]
I have a student who is working on building a webpage using a CSS template. They are trying to change their page settings (for example, the color of their hyperlinks) using the menu at the bottom of the page. However, these settings will not save. If anyone can give me an idea of how to move forward, I would appreciate it. Thank you

Using CSS to center a website [subject edited by moderator]
I took advice on centring my website. In my Wrapper/Container Div I made left/right Auto, and selected relative. It worked fine.Then for some unknown reason it left justified, not it right justifies. Support says it is an CSS issue. Anybody help?
To center a web page, you need just 4 things:
a valid doc type declaration on the first line of your HTML. DW does this automatically when you create a new page from File > New...
a stated width in px, % or em that is less than 100%.
a margin-left and margin-right of auto.
default CSS positioning which is static or none specified.
Example CSS code:
body {
border: 1px solid red;
width: 80%;
margin: 0 auto;
text-align:left;
NOTE: This will not work with absolutely or fixed positioned elements.

Import Business Catalyst site into Dreamweaver {subject edited by moderator}
I created a website using Dreamweaver CC. I added business catalyst extension and want to use its feature for the site I created within Dreamweaver. However, every time I tried to open up the business catalyst section, it wants me to create a new trial site. How do I skip this step and integrate what I already created using Dreamweaver CC? I don't want to have a trial site. I want to use what I already created using Dreamweaver CC with the business catalyst extension. Help!!!!
I'm afraid that's how Business Catalyst works. You can't just upload any site to BC servers. You must first create a BC account, create a BC site template, edit your template, activate BC modules, etc... If all you want is to host your DW site without rebuilding it with BC, I suggest you look for commercial web hosting someplace else.

I am using Dreamweaver CS6 on XP. Suddenly, errors are showing up on a website I created last year. At that time, W3C validation did not find errors in the same code. The site has worked with no problems (as far as I know) since then. Please note: I am not messing manually with the code--all these errors were created by Dreamweaver. I went in to change a few external links (to internet sites) and found these W3C errors. Now I am afraid to update any of my pages for fear I will jinx things and the site won't work anymore with these errors. What is happening? Why didn't these errors appear last year? Should I worry about them? If so, how can I find out how to fix them?

In the split view or the design view, I can edit text anywhere on the page but when I click on the code side the text is grey and line number bar turns blue. Is there a way to turn the editing back on in the code view? Working on a PC with a document created on a mac.

Can images inherit their container margins? [subject edited by moderator]
I'm using a basic html template in Dreamweaver CC, and I've inserted images that don't confirm to the margins set in the container. How can I fix this, or how do I insert them so they inherit the margins of the container?
Content inside a container doesn't inherit a margin as the margin is outside of the container. Looking at the image you have padding added to the text inside the container hence you have a space bewteen its edge and the text.
Add some margin to the image, either by using css inline - margin-left: 20px; (see below)
<img src="blahblah.jpg" width="XXX" height="XXX" alt="" style="margin-left: 20px;">
Or better target the image in the container with css:
#nameOfContainer img {
margin-left: 20px;
That should fix your issue. If it doesn't then please post your pages code and css here.
There are other ways to achieve the appearance you require but I won't go into those now. -

You're asking a weird question there, boiled down it becomes "How do I do what you do, without doing what you do?"
It's difficult to answer.
If you're a graphic designer trying to make a quick website for yourself, Adobe Muse would probably be a better fit than Dreamweaver. You might be able to get something similar built there without understanding the underlying code. However, the drag and drop capabilities of Muse can create some exceptionally complex html. If you start your site off in Muse, it should stay there.
If you're not a designer to begin with, maybe one of those "create your own website" companies has a template you could use by clicking through their build process that has similar features to what you want. I have no experience with them, but some of the things I've seen are actually pretty decent from a few of them.
WordPress does offer some interesting themes. You might look into that if your hosting company offers WP installations. But if that's the route you choose, DW and Muse would be left out entirely. DW can be used to create a theme (by professional PHP coders), but once the site is "live" you pretty much only use the WP admin panel to make changes. -

At the top level DMXzone is great for their templates and much of their add ons. But they are heavy on adding code. ... When it comes to the deprecated functions which dreamweaver used to support- (linking databases to form data). DMXzone isn't working. There is very little information to provide an understanding of the requirements that are needed. I.E. Are they still using PHP4.0? and thus there is a version problem with my server? I am not sure if my questions are answered in their expensive "paid" subscriptions section however the support documentation is missing sufficient information to get their software to work. Additionally do they provide support during North American hours of operation? every time I look to contact them it shows that they are offline.

I'm using the DMXzone log in template and converted it into a new customer account form. I am setting up a test server environment for development. I am using MAMP PRO 3.0.5 (latest version) with PHP 5.5.10 and MySQLi client version 5.5.36, Apache 2.2.26.
I've uploaded all of the DMXzone required extensions and followed the click by click instructions. I've recreated the web page from scratch (in case there was a corrupted file) and gone through the processes twice more.
In the DMXzone Database connector it found the correct database. In the DMXzone Database Updater "Manage database Actions" and "manage database executor" all of the form information was linked together with the database. I did have an issue here when following the directions from DMXzone. When I attempted to link to the HTML5 behaviors -> data bindings I received an error "please use this behavior on page with HTML5 Data Bindings on it and could not link to that segment of the instructions.
