Using Thai Fonts in Photoshop.

I'd like to know how to use thai fonts in photoshop. Every time I switch the language and start typing the text appears as boxes.
Thanks
Derek

Hi Derek,
here is an Adobe Photoshop help article on using Asian type:

  • Can't use Web Fonts in Photoshop, but can in Muse

Hi, I'm trying to use the same font I use in Adobe Muse on an image I'm creating in Photoshop CS6. In Adobe Muse, it was easy to add fonts by simply clicking "Add Web Font" and it opened a browser for me to select from many web safe fonts. Love this feature, by the way. In Photoshop, however, I do not have the same fonts listed and can find no place to get the fonts. I've tried downloading the fonts and putting them in my font folders but they do not show up on my list and they are web safe fonts.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The font is question is Delius.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi, billlywjr73,
Right now you can't use Typekit web fonts in Photoshop.
From the Typekit help, "Typekit only permits web-use for the fonts in our library, so we can’t provide you with a version of the fonts you use via Typekit to download and install. However, each font detail page includes a link to where you can buy an installable version of the font from the font’s designer/owner."
On the Photoshop community forum, Jeff Tranberry says it's something on their radar but no ETA yet.

  • Problem using downloaded fonts in photoshop elements10

I downloaded some fonts and was using them in photoshop elements 10 and shut down the program and restarted. When I opened the document that I was working on it said that those fonts where not available (not sure of the exact wording). Ever since then I have not been able to get those fonts back into the program. I have tried deleting and re-downloading them but still can't get them on. What's going on?

Elements normally uses the main system fonts. Have you added them to your general fonts folder?

  • Using Thai Fonts with Word

I am trying to use my Thai keyboard with Microsoft Word. I am currently running Word 2004 11.5.5 and OSX 10.5.8. When I start my thai keyboard it works on the internet but not on Word. What do I need to do or what am I doing wrong. When I type all I get is boxes...

One last question though, why doesn't Thonburi show up in my Font list.
If you are referring to something in Word, I don't know, best to ask in the forum for that:

  • How to use Thai font?

I cannot add Thai language text to my project.

PS Touch does not support unicode at the moment - so no Thai, Chinese, Russian etc.

  • Thai fonts in FM8

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem? I created a manual in Thai (BrowalliaUPC font) in FM7. When I open it in FM8, it turns to gibberish, no matter what Thai font I use. Does FM8 not support Thai fonts? I no longer have FM7 on my computer, and need to update this manual.

Without having used Thai fonts, I think:
When you moved to FM 8, you also moved to a Unicode environment; the documents you created in 7 were not Unicode, so the manner in which you insert characters probably changed. I recall seeing other problems with people who had to switch environments, but I'm unsure if there's an easy solution.
Based on Microsoft's www site for BrowalliaUPC, it also looks as if there are two versions of the font in the field, and they seem to have different levels of Unicode support. If you're using the 2.2 version of the font, you may want to get the version 5 shipped with Vista and 7 to get the expanded support.
To see if there's also something going on with the operating system / environment, I'd suggest creating a new FM 8 fle and seeing if you can insert content with the Thai font... or if that's also twisted.

  • Fonts in Photoshop CS6

The Character Viewer does not work in photoshop CS6 - any ideas why? Works beautifully in Word and other text editors but not in Photoshop.

I input the text from the keyboard, highlight the letter needing the special character, go to the Character Viewer and double click on the relevant character.
Are you using Character Viewer to add simple accents?  If so, you might be able to do the same thing holding down the key with the base character and selecting what you want from the popup menu.  Of if no popup menu appears with Adobe stuff, then the usual keyboard shortcuts, like Option/alt + e, then e gives you é.
Are you perhaps using a font in Photoshop which doesn't have the characters you need?  Test by using Lucida Grande, which has almost everything.

  • Does Photoshop CS3 Extended support Thai fonts?

I am translating some short text in Photoshop to several Asian languages. I noticed just with the Thai language, that I get a series of X's with boxes instead of Thai characters. The characters are fine in other applications, including Flash CS3. Other than taking a screenshot in another app and pasting into Photoshop, does anyone know of a workaround? Should I install a particular Thai font that is supported by Photoshop? I am running Photoshop CS3 Extended on Windows XP. Thanks for any help.

So in my search, the only thing I found was a utility downloadable at CNET http://download.cnet.com/ASK-Square-Free-Version/3000-2316_4-10855142.html
"ASK Square works efficiently with well-known graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop 7, CS, CS2, CS3 and CS4. It enables users to use of all Thai characters. Users can type all Thai characters, even troublesome characters like. This software also corrects excessively high vowels while typing or after typing just by only one click. Further more it can transform illegible font to normal font that happens when changes a texts font, to a readable normal font. If users copy texts from external application such as word processing or spreadsheet software and paste those texts into their graphic software, ASK Square software can correct the wrong-encoded texts automatically.
ASK Square is flexible. It enable user to type Thai non-unicode font on Adobe Photoshop. Version 1.5.0.10 supports Adobe Photoshop CS4."
Funny thing is you can tell their sales pitch was loosely translated. I gave it a try anyway. The instruction PDF was in Thai, their website was in Thai. But I felt brave anyway, seeing as I googled this application title and didn't see anything negative written about it. Then I go to the application icon in the system tray. As you can see from my screenshot, it ain't exactly user-friendly.
Bottom line... it didn't work. Anyone out there have a solution? I've searched everywhere... Am I the only one with this problem?

Friends, is there any way that I can use this font in Adobe Photoshop Directly. Is there any way that I can type the Title (just 2 words) that I want in this Font, in some other application (is there any such online or OS independent text application that does not require the font to be installed in Windows) and then copy and paste it in Adobe Photoshop ?
I do have a scan of the Title that I want to use as a Jpeg Image, but I want it as a Text.
Will be a great help if you can kindly guide me on how to do this or any way to use / load the font in Adobe Photoshop. Please help me Friends.

that font file looks like it's corrupted. Not much you can do about it other than trying to download it from another location. (things like this happen from time to time with free fonts)

  • Can I use Web Fonts in Illustrator or Photoshop?

I'd like to use a few of the web fonts for a clients project but I need to be able to have the fonts available for me in Illustrator and Photoshop as well as Dreamweaver and Muse.
I am a full Creative Cloud Subscriber and need to have complete integration across all or most products.
Thank you for help in advance

The short answer is this is not possible.
The long answer is Photoshop & Illustrator use print fonts installed on your system (True Type, Open Type, Post Script).
Web fonts (ie: Google, TypeKit, Edge, etc...) need a web browser to display them because they use file types that are not recognized by other applications.
    EOT Compressed
    EOT Lite (uncompressed)
TTF (raw TrueType Fonts for screen)
    SVG (xml version)
    SVGZ (gzipped version)
WOFF (gzipped, web only, cross-browser font)

  • Use of fonts embedded in photoshop for commerical use? (Static content, like images)

    Hello.
I am developing a Mobile game for Android, and I can't stop thinking about if i am in the clear when it comes to the use of fonts. I've searched the web, but can't really find a clear answer.
I am using only font embedded in photoshop/illustrator, and only displaying them in static content, such as Images/logos. So my question is, am I in the clear, or do I need som kind for special license for this?
FYI I am mostly using the MonoType Impact font. I stumbled over this though, its Monotypes Imaging EULA for fonts ( I think). It says :
You may embed static graphic images into an electronic document, including a Commercial Product, (for example, a "gif") with a representation of a typeface and typographic design or ornament created with the Font Software as long as such images are not used as a replacement for Font Software, i.e. as long as the representations do not correspond to individual glyphs of the Font Software and may not be individually addressed by the document to render such designs and ornaments.
    Would appreciate any help, thanks!

you can access them from <bpelx:exec> activity and you can pass these returned document to underlying java class.

Is it possible to use the fonts I have in my Mac Font Book with Creative Cloud software, such as Illustrator and Photoshop?

    Hi Kyley,
Syncing fonts from CC is a feature of Typekit. However, fonts that you've installed manually on your system will be available in all your apps. You won't need to sync them.
I hope that helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.
    Cheers,
