Using the backup domain file

Hello - I build a website on IWEB 08 and did a backup of the domain file into an external hardrive.
The method I used to create this backup file was by selecting "duplicate" option on the view finder.
I changed the name of the file to be "domain_date" and installed it on my external hardrive.
Now I have a new computer with IWEB 09 and I am not able to open the backup domain file in this computer. I read somewhere today, that we can't change the name of the domain file, so I changed my backup file back to just "domain".
I have tried different things but nothing works.
Thank you!

What happens when you try to open the backup domain file? Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
3 - reboot.
4 - launch iWeb and see if the domain file will open.
If that doesn't help continue:
5 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
6 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
7 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
8 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
9 - launch iWeb and try again.

    Connect phone to computer.
    Select Restore.
Tell iTunes which of the available backup files to use, let iTunes restore it.
Also, try reading the User's Guide as it answers questions like this.

Connect BB to PC. On 'Desktop Manager'>Backup & Restore tab>Click Restore. Double click .ipd file (backup file created from Desktop Manager).

  • Can I recover the database to the current time using a backup control file?

Can I recover the database to the current time using a backup control file? How far can I recover this database?
I have an Oracle 10g(10.2.3) database on RHEL4.3 system.
I have lost all the current control files and all the online redo logs, archived redo logs and all other files are OK.
Now I have to recovery this database using a backup control file.
Can I recover the database without any data lost?

    If
    a) it was a Shutdown Abort or an Instance Crash (i.e. backgrounds died on detecting loss of redo logs),
    b) redo logs are lost
    c) data files are intact
    You'd have to
    a) Restore datafiles
    b) Do an Incomplete Recovery to the last available ArchiveLog

  • How can I use the same domain.sites2 on two macs?

I know iWeb is no longer supported but I still find it ok to manage my web site.
I would like to work on the site from two macs. I thought I could just use the same Domain.sites2 on both macs but: if I move Domain.sites2 to dropbox folder, when I launch iWeb it does not know about it and creates a new empty Domain.sites2 in the Library/iWeb folder
I do not want to have to manually make a copy of Domain.sites2 to Dropbox and then to the other mac's Library every time I switch computer.

You may want to use :
    http://wyodor.byethost8.com/iwebsites/iWebSites.html
Select "Choose new folder" from the File menu to select the folder on Dropbox where your domain file is.
If that does not work, use:
    http://wyodor.byethost8.com/iwebsites/iWebDrop.zip
(Unzip the file and drop the domain file on top of it)
After that, you can open iWeb with your currently used domain file.

  • I can't find the site domain file in iWeb 3 and OSX Lion

I've got iWeb 3.0.4 and am using OS10.7.3
In previous versions of the OS and iWeb the actual file that iWeb creates is stored inside ~User>Library>Application Support>domain.site
I can't for the life of me find either the Application Support folder inside my user folder OR the actual domain file. Is it invisible or something???
Help - I need to transfer this document to another computer urgently ;-)

    click the desktop.
Then, Go menu hold "option key" and you'll see the library

  • SMC - "The management domain file...does not exist"

    Hi All,
Just a quickie to see if anyone has seen this and has any pointers to getting out of it...
Solaris 10 u5 x86. Machine has got SRSS4.0 running on it, the only other modification is CUPS is running in favour of the Solaris lp stuff (got instructions for this off a BigAdmin article).
Anyways, I use SMC to manipulate user/group stuff on the local machine. SMC launches just fine, and I can gather System Information, view logs, disk configuration, processes etc. However, when attempting to do any user/group/role stuff management, I authentication with root role, click on the relevant panel, and get this:
"The management server cannot perform the operation requested.
If this problem persists, refer to the Log Viewer for additional information and contact your Sun Microsystems support provider.
    The actual error reported was:
The management domain file:/shadowfire/127 does not exist or cannot be managed on server shadowfire."
The behaviour is consistent. Gee, it was running fine before, AFAIK...
Any pointers to what may have come unstuck gratefully appreciated, as always :)
    Dave

I came across the same problem late July almost same day - on a brand new M4000 server with Solaris 10. I use an X-windows client to connect in and open Common Desktop Environment as "root". Then when I invoke SMC it works for everything except trying to open User Maintenance - then I get the error above.
I came across something quite by accident whilst I was being advised to make edits to /etc/hosts (which I dont think made a difference anyway so I wont mention them)
If I use my X-Windows client and open Common Desktop Environment as an ordinary user (say "joe") - then invoke SMC from the menu - when asked by the SMC utility to provide a logon then (as you would) enter the root username and password, guess what ! - I could open the User Maintenance icon without the error appearing and make changes and save them.
Funny how a less privileged user than root invoking CDE seems to provide a basis to get the option to work! I still get the error by using CDE as root
    Wanna Try it?

  • ORA-01610: recovery using the BACKUP CONTROLFILE option must be done

    Hello All,
I have an instance on my LAB server. To explore more avenues in cloning a DB I did the following.
    1. On my Oracle 10g Instance I fired an large query which would take atleast an hour to execute.
    2. Opened another session and executed shu ABORT to shutdown the above instance abruptly.
    3. Took backup of datafiles, archive logs and redologs [ prior to shu abort, I had issued ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE]
    Restoration steps:
NOMOUNT with pfile edited to hold the name of the new DB_NAME
Create control file script edited to reflect the new paths of datafile and redologs.

    Greetings,
If I understood, you basically have a copy of a primary database and the redo log archives of this pretty same database, you have backed up the control file of this primary database, edited it pointing all paths of your datafiles to the new location but renaming the instance name.
I am assuming that you have edited the first line of your control file to something like "CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "DB02" RESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG", in this case are you sure that the redolog archives have not loose the sequence? In this case it will ask more and more archives and it will never end, take a look at the date and time of the thread that your instance is asking for recovery. Is your instance a production database? If it is NOT production and you are SURE that the database is completely recovered and is asking for redolog files that does not even exist you can try to add the ALLOWRESETLOGS_CORRUPTION=TRUE to your init.ora and open the db... This solution is not recommended and you should never use it on production instances... take this hint as a LAST effort to bring your db online.

  • How to join a client PC to WS2012E R2 that's already a member of another enterprise domain using the skip domain join registry entry?

In WSE12 R1 you can install the connector application on a Windows 7 PC that has already been joined to a corporate domain using the skip domain registry key:
    reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Server\ClientDeployment" /v SkipDomainJoin /t REG_DWORD /d 1
Upon doing so, the client PC is then able to perform client backups to the WSE12 R1 server but remains a member of the original corporate domain.  This is no longer possible when using this registry key when installing the Windows Server 2012 Essentials
    R2 connector
Is anyone aware of a way to install the WSE12 R2 connector and skip domain join without first leaving the corporate domain?
I am avoiding moving to WSE12 R2 until I can figure out a way to accomplish this.

I noticed this was incorrectly marked as an ANSWER. Although it wasn't a resolution, I recognize the connector install behavior is different in R1 vs R2. If it would be possible to ask the developers to include the following functionality in a future
Essentials R2 Update, we'd appreciate it. During client connector install, give user the option via radio button: 1.) install connector join domain, enable client PC backup 2.) install connector, join domain only, no client PC backup 3.) install connector,
do not join domain, enable client PC backup Option #3 would satisfy this request and negate the need for unauthorized registry hacks. Thank you.
Great discussion here, and glad things seem to have changed for the better with R2.
Spot on with those suggestions, miles267!
Back in Dec 2013, I wrote about my fairly simple registry tweak done at just the right spot during the client connector install, still seems to work like a charm
(as of Dec 12 2014, ~15,000 folks read it so far):
    TinkerTry.com/connect
    which redirects to:
    http://www.tinkertry.com/how-to-make-windows-server-2012-r2-essentials-client-connector-install-behave-just-like-windows-home-server
with a lot of (admittedly confusing) comments:

Sincerely hoping such feedback helps encourage Microsoft to take a simple radio box checkmark request seriously. Really, it'd really help folks a lot, so they wouldn't have to feel they are trusting a "hack" which is really a simple, documented
registry tweak, done at just the right time.
I hope this little post here, and my article, truly helped people out!

  • Using the 'backup playlist' facility in iTunes

Prior to discovering the above facility, I used to copy each mp3 file into a folder on my desktop and then burning a CD. Using the above is much easier but it also backs up the podcasts that happen to be in iTunes at the time. Is there any way to exclude podcasts when executing the backup?
Also, can I use the 'backup' to load my laptop?

Using the 'backup playlist' facility in iTunes
Note that it's Backup - iTunes library (music, videos, podcast and audiobooks) and playlists (the lists of songs).
If you backup/save a playlist, there is no music saved.
Is there any way to exclude podcasts when executing the backup?
    No.
can I use the 'backup' to load my laptop?
    Yes.

  • Using The Same Audio Files On Multiple Platforms

When I import new audio into logic - often it will say that is creating wave forms for the display.
Q: I notice that the audio files on disk do not show an altered modified date - so where are these wave form displays being saved - on the audio file or inside the logic song?
Q: I am interested in possibly going back and forth between logic and Pro tools LE - and at different times using the same audio files for both platforms. Assuming I am not doing any destructive editing - is it OK to use the same set of files for both platforms - or do I need to make duplicates (I'd rather not)? Also, how does this wave form display get dealt with by going back and forth between the two platforms?

A: the waveform overlays are stored in separate,
temporary files - *.ovm files or something, but my
memory is fuzzy on that for now. The original audio
files are not modified in any way.
Hmmm... I've wondererd about this, too, and as best I can tell, Logic DOES modify the original files.
I just imported some stereo interleaved AIF files into a project (with "copy external audio files to project folder" disabled), and I couldn't see any evidence of waveform creation--a disk search by date revealed nothing looking like waveform overviews, and there were no modifications to the AIF file dates.
So... the next time I imported some AIF files, I checked the file sizes before the import...
Sure enough, the files got bigger by about 100K after being imported into a Logic session, even though the file's timestamps were not changed.
Looks like maybe Logic does write the waveforms into the files themselves ?
On a related note, the manual suggests that it's possible to change the "copy external audio files to project folder" setting after creating a project, but I haven't found this anywhere other than File->New... anyone know ?
    Thanks!

  • Is there any way to use the iTunes .itl file or .xml file to see what files I had previously to re-download songs?

I recently had to restore my computer and in the process of backing up my music library, half of my library from the letter 'm' onward was deleted.
I want to see if I could use the existing .itl file or .xml file that was automatically saved by iTunes in the iTunes folder previously (which I backed-up in my external drive) to view my past library.
I tried importing the library by going to File > Library > Import Playlist, but I got an error that said:
"Some of the songs in the "iTunes Music Library.xml" were not imported because they could not be found.
The .itl file was no help either in this case.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?

How did you try to make use of the .itl file? Double-clicking on .itl files doesn't switch libraries but opens whatever is currently the default library. To switch between library files either press and hold down shift as you launch iTunes until prompted to choose or create a library, or swap out one library file with another as described in Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash.
There is also a link there to tips on recovering media from your device or account history. You may also be able to undelete media from the drive if the space it occupied has not yet been reused.

  • I did an icloud backup on my old 4S with iOS 8.3 and wanted to install on my new iPhone 6 but it only has iOS 8.1.3! Can I do/use the backup after I chose "install as new iPhone"?

I did an icloud backup on my old 4S with iOS 8.3 and wanted to install on my new iPhone 6 but it only has iOS 8.1.3! Can I do/use the backup after I chose "install as new iPhone"?
Because I cannot update the software until I chose if I want to begin with a new phone setting or download a backup.
But the backup is of course not compatible with the old iOS.
So will it be possible to get the new iPhone going, then do the software update to 8.3 and then download / use the data from
    my 4S icloud backup?

    1. Settings > General > Software Update > Update the  to 8.3
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content & Settings
    3. Reactivate phone and follow prompts to restore iCloud (or iTunes) backup.

  • To test how can we use the opt  'logical file name' to name the file based

    Hi Sir/Madam,
to test how can we use the opt  'logical file name' to name the file based on the selection made in the dtp run for extracting data as flat file.

    Hi Vishali,
In the DTP select the file location as application server and give the logical file path. The actual file and logical path can be created using transaction "FILE" and "AL11".
Rest of the process is same as that of extraction from local file.

  • I want to open a domain.site2 file outside the default folder (User/Library/Application Support/iWeb) with iWeb11, but iWeb only opens the domain file in the default folder. If I delete the default domain file, iWeb wants to create a new site. Help please

I want to open a domain.site2 file outside the default folder (User/Library/Application Support/iWeb) with iWeb11, but iWeb only opens the domain file in the default folder. If I delete the default domain file, iWeb wants to create a new site. Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it?

In Lion the Finder folder is now invisible.  To make it permanetely visible enter the following in the Terminal applicaiton window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For opening your domain file in Lion for the first time or to switch between multiple domain files  Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an applicaiton.
Just launch the applicaiton, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
