Using the Bionic in Japan?

If this was asked before, I apologize for double-posting...
I'm actually going to be working in Japan in about 2 months, so I just wanted to know how I can get my Bionic to work over there.
Anyone know?

dmad1rulz,
I sure how you enjoy your time in Japan. Luckily, you can enjoy your visit with the DROID BIONIC! Japan uses the same CDMA technology that we use so you'll have access to voice and data services. 4G/LTE is not in Japan so speeds will be comparable to our 3G network. Please take note of our Global tech support number: 908-559-4899, better safe than sorry, you know. You can also see all of the coverage and pricing details online here.
Have a safe trip!
Thanks!

  • Using My Bionic in Japan

I've been stationed here in Japan for over a year now and I upgraded my phone a few months ago when I went on vacation. Now I have my Droid Bionic just sitting around not being utilized. I want to use it as my phone here but I'm being told that it needs to be unlocked. Not sure what I need to do to unlock it. Can anyone help me out with this?

  • Using 3G iphone in Japan

I wonder whether I could use 3G iphone in Japan? I am using it in HK with a 3G supplier. Is it possible for me to use it in Japan?
Is it possible to use the GPRS in japan as well? When I searched Japan map here, all the maps are written in the Traditional Chinese. Will the maps turn to be Japanese while I am using in japan?

The iPhone 3G is now sold in Japan, so yes. Not sure about the map thing.
you need to check with your carrier to see what you need in Japan to ge airtime. Possibly a prepaid sim card or something

  • Is the iphone in japan can be unlocked so that i can use anywhere in the world?

Can my iphone 4 do factory unlocked in japan so that i can use it anywhere in the world using different number

No. The carriers in Japan do not offer unlocking.

You cannot. The iPhone is locked to Softbank, and only they can unlock it. Problem is that Softbank will NOT unlock the phone, as they do not offer iPhone unlocking.
Buy an iPhone in the Phillipines.
PS Before you go on a rant at Apple, be aware that Apple does NOT unlock phones and they do not set unlocking policies. The carriers (Softbank in this case) set the unlocking policy.

That's an interesting question Chris let's look at the original text and parse it:

So the wifi iPad is what he's got and he's moving to japan in a month. Are we clear on that point? But when we get to the second sentence, "Can I use the verizon version of the ipad in Japan network? That's where I'm assuming he's not gotten the Verizon ipad YET. And that is how getting an AT&T iPad is going to solve his problem. Tx.
    The Verizon iPad has wifi.
I'm assuming he has a Verizon iPad (why else ask about Verizon?) and the OP simply did not specify "I just got an iPad 2 16GB, Verizon version".

  • I have a Verizon and At&t Iphone 4 can I use the same Itunes account for both phones?

I have a Verizon Iphone 4 though my job.  I also have a At&t Iphone 4 for my personal phone.  Can I use the same Itunes account for both phone or will I need a separate account for Verizon Iphone?

I dont live in US, live in Japan.. but I do have 2 iPhones, one 3GS and one 4. I use same iTunes Account on both.
You might have a little "problem" if your payment were by Credit Card, everytime you try to buy something (I mean, try to download something on your iphone, not from your computer) , your going to need to verify your payment... but if u use iTunes Gift Card, you wont have any problem with that
sry about my english... I hope I helped you

  • Hello anyone know how to use the locked iphone outside USA

hello anyone know how to use the locked AT&T iphone 5 outside US. I'll go to Japan. Don't know if the phone can be used there.any idea will be appreciated.

You'll need to get it unlocked by ATandT to avoid paying huge roaming costs.

  • Using my MacBook in Japan

    Hi,
I live in the UK and bought my MacBook here. I need to take it for work purposes to Japan and was wondering if it will be okay to use the power adapter on their mains (obviously I will have to buy and adapter for the plug but it is the Voltage and power I'm worried about). I think they have 100V and 50Hz compared to 220V and 50Hz here in the UK. Please excuse my complete ignorance about this stuff!
    Thanks
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4)

Welcome to Japan, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time---I sure do.
Your MacBook will work just fine, just be sure to have a plug adapter (the right prong adapter) since you're coming from the UK---the MacBook is designed to handle the voltage anywhere in the world.
And, if you have any trouble, most of the people working in the Apple stores here in Japan speak English---and the service is second to none!
    No worries

  • Using the TC with another wireless device - non-ethernet

So I have an odd situation, and I'm hoping someone much smarter than myself can lend a hand.
I live in Japan, and my internet is a little unusual.  My router now is a cell-style box with no plugs beyond the power supply.  It's through a company called eMobile, whom are nortorious for being the kind of company you don't want to work with.  Anyhow, this is where I get my internet signal from.
I've bought a new MBP and a Time Capsule to go with it.  I am currently expecting to use the Capsule as a wireless backup, and no a router.  It strikes me that this will become a pain of having to switch between wireless signals for internet and backups.  I was hoping I could link the existing signal, from my eMobile router thing, throug my new TC, and use the Capsule to push out the signal from the other guy.  Reading around the web sounds like that's probably not going to work, but I want to check with the experts before I abandon hope.
Speed is not a concern for me.  I don't do a lot of streaming or things of that sort, and this network has a bit of a choke problem anyhow.  I just want to be able to access the internet through my Time Capsule, but have that pull the actual signal from my no-ethernet-port-having router.  I'm happy to give more info about the eMobile box if it'll help, but I don't know what to look for as of now.
Thanks to anyone who looks, and happy New Year.

    Unfortunately your investigation is correct.
The TC does not work in the way you would like it to.
You can join it to the wireless network of the emobile. no-ethernet-port-having router
It will be available via the network but at half the speed.. because of double hop wireless and totally reduced to a mere client.
    See instructions here.
Join a wireless network.. in v6 utility.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5719954?tstart=0
The alternative is to use ethernet.. even if your new MBP is also no-ethernet-port-having computer
Apple sell a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter.
You can run ethernet and wireless simultaneously without having the TC connected to the internet.
    See https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4817218?tstart=30
You can also buy a cheap USB wireless stick and plug that into the laptop.. obviously you need to buy a mac compatible one.. and then use the stick for the internet.. and use the internal wireless for link to the TC.. or that is how I would recommend as the speed is going to be needed in local network and will not be much on the internet emobile box.

  • Can I use Droid X in Japan/Taiwan?

I am travelling to Japan and Taiwan for a business trip in a week and will be there for two weeks.  I had used the Verizon Global website to do the "Trip Planner" and entered all of the applicalbe info for my trip and my Droid X phone.  The planner then indicates my phone will not work while there and I should consider securing a "global phone".    I had understood as well that the Droid X can't be used internationally.  I called the Verizon global service center to find out information on possibly using the "loaner" program and the individual I talked to said my phone would work in Japan and Taiwan as long as I activated the "roaming" function and also purchase a International Data Plan.   this was a surprise to me and I asked several time if she was sure it would work and she said yes.  I want to confirm as I don't want to arrive and not have the ability to use the phone.

I have a Droid X as Well and i would have to say with out it having a Sim card as for the Data part of it i would say No) Maybe Wi-Fi  But Wildman has a Droid X and he might Know if it can be used there as for the Voice Part of it.
Wildman can you Chime in on this as i'm Not for Sure Thanks b33

  • Can i use the verizon ipad 2 from US in indonesia and change the carrier

my brother bought me an iPad 2 wifi+3g from US and gave it to me in indonesia. i ccan't find the sim card slot, and when i checked out the carrier in general settings it showed verizon 10.0. can i just change the carrier? because i really want to use the 3g connections.i will really appriciate if you can help me.. sorry for my terrible english btw

You can give points by clicking on "helpful" or "correct" in the answers you like. :-)
There are CDMA networks in some parts of South Korea and Japan, I've been told, but they can't work with the iPad (someone posts that back when Verizon first offered the iPad, can't remember when). The CDMA IPad will only work with Verizon in the US.

  • I'm using iphone 4 for japan version how can do it my iphone can use it in malaysia?

i'm using iphone 4 for japan version how can do it my iphone can use it in malaysia?isit just can use japan sim card only?

You can use your iPhone 4 in Malaysia with a Japanese sim card, but you'll need to enable the data roaming/international feature with your phone comapny/carrier in Japan to be able to use the phone.
Your other option is to get your phone unlocked by your phone comapny/carrier so that you can then insert local sim cards when you travel.
The only ones who can unlock your phone is your phone comapny/carrier in Japan so you need to contact them directly to ask them if they offer unlocking - if not then you are out of luck and have to use the data roaming method.

  • I been using my iphone from japan for a month now which my sister gave to me even theres no sim inserted in it, but after downloading ios 6.0.1 i cant activate it even i connect it to itunes, it says i have to insert a sim in it....is there a possible way

No. All GSM iPhones require a valid sim be in the phone in order to activate. Until you get a valid sim, all you'll be able to do is look at it & make emergency calls.

  • ICS update: can I use the combination of face-lock/pattern lock and direct Access Lock?

I just updated ICS on Bionic. I cannot use the Direct Access Lock with face-lock or pattern lock.
Is there a way to do (well I prefer not to download apps to do it)?
