Using the Clipboard to Copy Between Applications

I'm trying to design a postcard online and the instructions say to make my image 350 dpi, 4"x 6", copy and paste it onto their format. I get a message saying it is too big for my clipboard. When I looked at my clipboard size, my 5.0 version says the script is for a 4" x 4" clipboard. So just to see if I could reduce my image to less than that and have it transfer, I still got the "too big" message. Any advice?

I get this error from photoshop elements 2.0 and I think it is a bug in that software. My work around is to disable Export Clipboard in PE2 preferences, but that is irrelevant to your problem.
This is a bit of a long shot but maybe this application could be the answer.

Its entire contents is "stolen" -- the guy who made it advertises himself as "proficient XML and HTML programmer", but rather than proving it by doing something worthwhile himself, he copied the entire contents of the heavily improved HTML version I made from Adobe's own documentation. To add insult to injury he wrapped it up in heavily advertised pages.
The help text is Adobe's own, but I vastly improved upon it by adding yet even more hyperlinks, categories, and a graphic hierarchical view. I made it better just to prove I could; so far this stinking thief didn't dare copy the latest version -- yet.

Copy between applications

I am currently using the 30 day free trial of iWork. I use Excel in a specific way that is crucial to my business. I don't do much of anything fancy, but need the following functionality:
I use spreadsheets in Excel which I then I copy (using either the Copy command or the Camera tool), switch applications to VectorWorks, and paste into my main project document. Excel copies all of the elements of my selection, and the resulting paste into VectorWorks consists of lines and text complete with formatting (font, size, bold, italic, etc). When I attempt the same action in Numbers, the resulting paste into VectorWorks is a Bitmap image. Is there any way to copy and paste between Numbers and VectorWorks in the same manner as I currently work with Excel and VectorWorks? I would love to be able to get away from Microsoft, but if I can't copy between applications, Numbers is of no use to me.

I met this kind of problem.
My workaround is to paste in TextEdit then copy and Paste into the final destination.
It's a bit cumbersome but it works.
Perhaps Apple guys will edit the way they treat the clipboard.
They don't normalize it when pasting from Numbers to Pages or Keynote, so we get formulas or some other odd results.
Your problem with VectorWorks let me think that the way they "normalize" the clipboard when leaving iWork apps is not perfectly correct.
It seems that a range of cells must be passed as a TAB delimited block of values which may be pasted in a tool like VectorWorks.

Hi all
Ive noticed the clipboard features in java but from some of the examples ive been seeing it doesnt seem to be that versatile
examples ive seen are such things like copy text from one text box to another using the clipboard but it only does this by doing a getText() on the textbox and putting that in the clipboard then doing a setText() on the other textbox from the clipboard
but what i want to be able to do is any selected text when copy is clicked, it is added to the clip board (whether the selectted text is in a text box or in a textpane) then paste that text to where ever the cursor is (be it in a text box or cursor)
is there a simple way of doing this or do i have to basically capture every focus event on the text boxes and textpane and then let the clipboard know i am copying and pasting from the currently focused field?

All text components support the standard KeyStrokes:
Ctrl-C, Ctrl-X, Ctrl-V
You can also add menu items or toolbar buttons to perfrom these Actions. See the Swing tutorial on "Text Component Features":

(1) Is there a way to put it in FAVORITES? If so, how?
(2) There is now a link in my Clipboard that I want to send as an E-mail attachment. Unfortunately, I can't copy it. How to I remove/copy something on my Clipboard?

Cloning use the different gcc version between source system and target sys

Hi All,
Our system is: Application tier and Database tier is split to two servers.
We should run a cloning, but I found the different gcc version on application tier on source system and target system.
The source application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 3.2.3
The target application tier server is RedHat Linux ES3, gcc version is 2.9.6
There is the same gcc version on database tier on source system and target system, they are gcc 2.9.6.
My question: Can I use the different gcc version between source system and target system when I run an erp cloning?

Not necessarily, you might get some errors if the version is higher and it is not supported by the OS. An example is Note: 392311.1 - usr/lib/gcc/i386-redhat-linux/3.4.5/libgcc_s.so: undefined reference to 'dl_iterate_phdr@GLIBC_2.2.4'
To be on the safe side, make sure you have the same version (unless you want to give it a try).

I need to use the same component in different applications. i.e In opportunity, Quotation & Promotion.
The Search help view in the component PRD01QR should be used in all these components but with different search criteria.
With help of the DO_determine_configuration, different view configurations are possible but Different search criteria is not possible.
for Eg. search parameter without DDLB, F4 options in another components.
How can I control the behavior of the search view in different applications with restricting the field properties?

I want to put windows 7 on my iMac. Do I use Windows 7, 64 bit System Builder or do I use a "retail copy" of the Windows 7, 64 bit ? Microsoft says I should use the System Builder copy. A technical support individual from Apple said use the "retail copy"

A Microsoft technical advisor said that the "retail copy" of Windows 7, 64 bit Home Premium would not work with Boot Camp to put the Windows operating system on the IMac. She said that I would have to use the System Builder copy of Windows 7 to put it on my iMac. An Apple technical advisor told me that I had to use the "retail copy" of Window 7 because that was the one used by Apple when they developed the Boot Camp program. I have also seen some articles from Apple that suggests that both copies of Windows 7 would work OK. Does anyone have any experience that shows which one or both I should purchase to put on my computer?

I used the 64-bit System Builder Edition when I bootcamped my 2010 iMac a couple of years ago. Worked perfectly--installed a very lean system. Without all the extra cr@pware that comes preinstalled on name-brand Win computers, the SBE OS actually works darned well.
However, that was under Mac OS 10.6.8 which remains on that computer for compatibilty reasons not related to Windows. Haven't BCed any newer Mac OS, so your mileage may vary.

InDesign crashes when I use the clipboard too much

Wow, this site is truly terrible.
Anyway.
I am experiencing a crash in InDesign when I use the clipboard too much.
I have a habit of hitting "Ctrl + C" more than once, and this appears to trigger a race condition that causes a crash.
It's reproducable but doesn't happen every time.

Are you saying you hit Ctrl-C more than once without changing the selection? I don't tend to do that, so I don't know if it's a problem, but I've NEVER had that error using the clipboard in ID. You shouldn't need to install anything just to use the drive. Just connect it to your Mac and it should mount. If it's the Intego Backup Assistant you're trying to install, try the latest version which you can download here:

Does that mean I have to set asides space on the protected server (a file server), so it can store shadow copies, and the DPM server taps into those shadow copies to create its recovery points etc?

Hi Joe,
when you are protecting a file server. DPM will implement a change journal to record all the blocks that have been changed.
Then once the sync starts. The journal is interrogated and will tell DPM which file have been changed.
Then the VSS writer makes a copy of these data and send them to DPM.
You don't need additionnal space or to create a new folder on your server.

Thanks! This was the method I was looking for. Unfortunately it doesn't work when I drag the eyedropper to a browser window on a secondary monitor. Maybe it has to do with my setup, Mac/Mavericks and Ps CC 2014. Anyway thanks for your help, you gave me the answer I was looking for.

iCloud only "syncs" data in the iCloud account, not data in other external accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc. If your email, contacts and calendars are hosted by another external account, such as Gmail/Google, you may want to not sync this data using iCloud as you would have import it all to the iCloud account in order to do so. Instead, add your external account to your iOS devices and in Settings>Mail,Conacts,Calendars>Add Account and turn on contacts and calendar syncing with your external account.

Does home sharing use the internet to transfer between devices?

I have limited internet and with the new ios7 it seems to have the capability to use ALOT of internet if you aren't careful. If I set up home sharing can the kids get the movies wirelessly without draining my internet and downloading them? I guess the main question is if it is using the wifi to go between is it actually using the internet?

Transferring content from one device to another over a local network won't take up any internet allowance you have. However protected content may need verifying over the internet before it can be played, this in itself should not use a great deal of your allowance.
