Using the forward camera freezes the iPod; anyone else?

When I try to use the forward camera, it freezes the entire camera operating system. Aside from shutting it down, what else to do? I think I have to take it back to the store though.

Try the following to rule out a sftware problem:
- Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPOd.
If you are still having the problem then it is time to make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Use the iPod as storage for pictures from a camera

Is it possible to use the iPod as a sorage disc for pictures from a camera. I currently use a 40 GByte Archos to store my photos while I´m travelling (there is a possibility to attach a card reader). Is this possible with an iPod as well?
    Thanks for any info

Depending on which iPod/camera you have, you could use a camera connector.

  • Using the iPod with the camera connector

I was recently pleased to learn that it is possible to connect an iPod to my digital camera to transfer pictures to the iPod. I could use this feature when traveling to free up my camera's CompactFlash memory.
What I'm wondering is whether or not I can delete photos I have transfered to the iPod from the camera using the iPod's interface. The idea here would be to weed out the pictures not worth keeping to free up space on the iPod.

There is no way to delete files or folders from an iPod without connecting it to a computer and deleting the files from there.

  • My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I tried doing this it told me that it was for a 32 bit version which I obviously do not have.  My computer is only a few months old.  What do I do now?

My computer is not recognizing my ipod shuffle.  The computer says to use the ipod reset utility.  When I did that it came up with another message that it was only good for a 32 bit version.  I guess I do not have a 32 bit version.  I just purchased my computer a few months ago and it uses the windows 7 operating system.  What do I do now?

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • Can you use the iPod connector cable to charge the iPhone or

only the cable that came with the iPod?
Also, I put the iPhone briefly into my old inMotion speakers and a message
came up saying that the device didn't support an iPhone and would either not
charge my iPhone or have bad consequences for my iPhone-i wasn't sure-it did
    work in the speakers tho.

I use an iPod connector almost all the time and have never had a problem, even after market iPod connectors, but you'll get a different response depending on who you talk to. The guy at the Genius Bar told me yes, but phone support said no. Short answer...You should be able to use the iPod connector.
When you plug the iPhone into some 3rd party devices, you'll get a message stating "not compatible with iPhone" but that is because you are going to get interference because of the cell signal. You can put it into Airplane mode to avoid the interference or just deal with the interference and just click OK. That being said, I have read other posts where these devices do cause damage to the iPhone so proceed at your own risk.

  • How to use the  ipod as external hard drive???

I went to the windows explorer page and checked under my computer and saw my ipod as the "E" drive. Is the procedure of storing files, be it word or excel or photos as simple as dragging them into the ipod E drive location???
I have tried doing this and they seem to have been copied into the ipod, however when I checked into the ipod they were not there...anywhere. I highlighted the "ipod(E)" drive and created a new folder named "my documents" and then dragged some word files into it. I then detached the ipod from my computer and checked the ipod for the files and the new folder "my documents" and could not find them.
When you use the ipod as an external hard drive are all the documents and files you drag into it hidden???
Is there any way to view word documents?? How do you store them?
When using the ipod, is the only viewable information that comes up onto the ipod screen, info from the "itunes" page??
    cheers

You can't view any of the files on the iPod while using the iPod. You can only see them through the computer. I guess if you want, you can put the files into the "Notes" folder on the iPod and see them using your iPod, but you can only open .txt files up to 4kb big.

  • My mom and me want to use the iPod on two computers, one Mac and one Windows. Is that possible or will it destroy the iPod?

My mom has a Windows computer, I have a Mac, and we have an iPod nano 6th generation. Is it possible to use the iPod with both the Windows and the Mac? And does it add the music and playlists but not delete?
    Thank you,
    Jan

    Hey, thank you so much.
But now: I can add Musik, but it won't load the Cs-covers and the play lists on the iPod. I did it the way they tell me to do it. I just grabbed it and put it into the iPod. I can see the lists on the computer, but not on hte iPod in the menu.
how can I get the play lists?
    Thank you.

  • I have an order iPod classic (2007). I also have a Boise docking station. I can use the ipod with earphones

I have an order iPod classic (2007). I also have a Boise docking station. I can use the ipod with earphones or the computer however there is no sound when placed on the docking station. I don't believe it is the docking station as it is never moved, only I use it (older and single). Could it be a setting? Help

iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID.  So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account.  Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

No, you don't. You can rip music to your computer and sync it to your Nano.

  • Charging and using the Ipod at the same time

I have a MAC and my Ipod is formatted for MAC. While the Ipod is plugged in to the MAC with the USB cable, I can eject it and use the Ipod while it is charging. At work, I plug the Ipod in to a Windows machine. It mounts although it is not formatted for Windows and it charges. When I un-mount it, leaving it plugged in, it doesn't seem to charge. Is there a way that I can use the Ipod while it is plugged in to the Windows machine and see it charging? There seems to be no info. online.

    Jack,
An iPod formatted for a Mac will not work on a Windows PC. See the extract below from the iPod FAQ. However you could try formatting it for Windows and see if it works for you on both. As you can see the FAQ says that some iPods may work however it's not supported by Apple.
Question: I have both a Mac and a PC. Will my iPod work on both?
Answer: No, not at the same time. iPod is configured for either Mac or PC. You can use the iPod Updater to restore iPod to work with a Mac or a PC (depending on which version of the updater you use). See "Restoring iPod to factory settings" for more information. Note: Using the iPod for Mac on a PC, or using the iPod for Windows on a Mac, is not supported by Apple. FAT32 is the format used by Windows, and while some FAT32 iPod models may work with your Mac, Apple only supports using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac. For more information see the iPod shuffle Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

  • Using the IPOD with VISTA

I have just purchased a new sony vaio, running vista. My older desktop is running xp. I had my IPOD and iTunes working just fine with this existing desktop. I just installed iTunes on the new laptop, and now want to use the iPod with this laptop. I attached it and attempted to sync, that the iPod is using an existing library, and wants to delete it and then use the new library. However, since the old library is on the old PC, it is not able to do this. It then says sync is complete, but none of my music is found on the new laptop. HELP.....

When you connected the iPod to your new laptop with the empty iTunes did you press "Erase and Sync"? This syncing does not transfer content from the iPod to iTunes, it transfers from iTunes to the iPod. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased the original contents of your iPod and with nothing to sync will have left it blank.
Connect your iPod back to your desktop computer and it will sync the existing library back onto it again. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Can I use the iPod Nano cable and AC power supply with the iPhone?

Just purchased my iPhone 3G. Phone was in my pocket and the AT&T clerk neglected to put the box with the computer cable in the bag with the other accessories.
Until I can pick it up, can I use my iPod Nano cable? The plug seems the same size but I don't want to break anything.
Also, there was no power supply in the box due to the recall. Can I use the iPod AC power supply I bought for the iPod? It is the white brick about 3" by 3" by 1" with a USB socket in the side.
Thank you for helping me with my start-up glitches.

Ps. When you do get the accessories, look for a green dot (on the side where the prongs of the plug come out). If there, fine; if not, your adapter is subject to the recently announced recall of ultracompact USB adapters.
