Using the internet on an Ipod touch

How does the internet work on an Ipod touch? Does it only work through wifi? or can u set up a personal internet account specifically for the ipod that you would pay monthly for?

  • Mifi 4510 and not being able to use the internet with my Ipod touch

My mifi 4510 will not allow my iPod Touch to connect to the internet.  In settings it sees my device and for about 2 seconds a dot will appear of the screen of the mifi4510.  The dot goes away and it keeps searching endlessly to connect to my iPod Touch.  I have talked to the first level of tech support and they tell me that the iPhone and iPad are compatible with the 4510, but not the iTouch.  I can take my iTouch to any other wireless network, enter the key and the network will connect flawlessly to my device.  First level of tech support also asked if I had the latest updates to my iPod Touch  The answer is yes.  If in fact Verizon is blocking the iPod Touch from going out onto the internet, can anyone give me the rationale as to why this would be true.

    Hello,
I am not aware of any limitations on the MiFi that would back up Verizon's story.  If the device is Wi-Fi compatible then it should be able to connect to the MiFi 4510L.  The only reason why a device might not be able to connect would be due to wireless passwords not matching or the MiFi broadcasting in a mode which is incompatible with that device.
Here are some quick suggestions which may help:
    Change the 802.11/Wireless Mode
    1. Navigate to http://mifi.admin
    2. Enter "admin" in the textbox in the upper right hand corner
    3. Click the Wi-Fi tab
    4. Change the 802.11 mode from B+G+N to B+G
    5. Click Apply
    6. Test your connection
    Remove the Wireless password
    1. Navigate to http://mifi.admin
    2. Enter "admin" in the textbox in the upper right hand corner
    3. Click the WiFi tab
    4. Change your Selected Profile to Open Access
    5. Click Apply
    6. Test your connection

  • Can I use the camera on my iPod Touch with FaceTime?

I have been trying to use the camera on my iPod Touch with FaceTime.  Will it work?  How do I sign in?  When I click on Preferences the preferences window does not appear, and preferences in the drop down menu becomes greyed out.  I am using an older Apple Cinema Display.  Also Apple doesn't show the iSight camera for sale on the website.

    Hello Chris
Pairing an iPod touch to the computer to use the camera is not supported, but you can use any webcam that can be plugged into the computer.

  • Can't connect to the internet with my iPod touch 4th gen.

So I have an iPod touch 4th gen. and have been able to get wifi from my computer with no problem but now it's not working. When I choose the network I've always used I see the 3 lines on top of the screen that show when it's connected to the internet but when I try to open iTunes, the App Store, etc. it says, "cannot connect to iTunes" or whatever it is that I'm trying to open.
I'm so frustrated! I already restarted both my iPod & laptop, connected then disconnected the modem, and resetted the network settings but it still doesn't work.
When i open troubleshoot problems, it says that the wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration, sorry if I'm too stupid but what's an IP configuration? How can I fix this?
    Please help me!

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Do other devices now connect? ( I thin yo are say no. In that case you have a router problem.  Try powering off and then back on the router. Next try changing the security on the router. Test it with no security. The reset ther router. Last, get a new router.)
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router

  • Can I use the backup of one iPod Touch on another?

             Hello,
The other day, I accidentally dropped my 4th generation 32GB iPod Touch on concrete from a couple of feet.  The screen has many cracks and the top-right corner is missing a few chunks of screen. The corner is completely shattered and the "organs" are visible through this gash.  I backed up the iPod to my computer.  I was wondering if this iPod "crashes' or stops working due to the hole, can I use the back up of the data of the iPod on another 4th generation 32GB iPod Touch to have my previous data(from the original iPod) on the new iPod?
              Thanks in advance.
P.S. The iPod is currently working fine as of the time this was posted(including the near-by camera), but I am very concerned it that it may become unusable.  And if you know of a place where I may be able to get it repaired for cheaper than Apple, please share.

Yes. That is completely correct and the expected result of having to replace an iPod.
Given the damage you describe, it might not be cost effective to bring it to anyone other than Apple. They have a flat rate exchange program: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Looks like $149 Could be worse, if you had not synced it with your computer.
Now consider what would happen if your Windows computer broke. Given the prevalence of viruses and such, it is a very likely possibility. Research means to back up your computer and make it a habit to keep the backups updated.

  • My daughter bought an 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  We are using the charger from an ipod touch and it won't charge.  Someone posted online that not all chargers will work on the classic.  Anyone else have this issue and any suggestions?

My daughter bought a 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  The ipod was working just fine, but then we tried to charge it using a brand new charger for an Ipod Touch.  It won't charge and someone online someone posted that there ipod touch charger worked on the ipad, phone and whatever else he had but it wouldn't work on the classic.  Anyone else have this same issue?  Any solutions?

The ipod did not come with a power cord as we purchased it used from ebay.  The ipod was half charged when we received it and it worked well enough to transfer songs to my computer (the previous seller didn't delete their 2000 plus songs).  My son then used the same cord on his computer to transfer the songs, but processed an update to the ipod and after that,it wouldn't work.  So, I'm not sure if we received a bum ipod, an update issue or we have a charger issue, but the cord we used to transfer the songs came from my son's brand new ipod touch.  We've also tried 2 other chargers from ipods we have in the house, 1 being a wall charger.
One individual posted online that he took his ipod classic, mac and phone overseas with one charger and it worked fine on all but the classic.  So, I'm thinking that they cords may not be universal.  Online I've read that it must be a 6 pin firewire, high power 2.0 usb cord.  Or that I need to purchase an applie charger.  We don't live close to an apple store and I'm reluctant to order one just to have it NOT work.
My daughter is learning the hard way that buying off of ebay is not always the best solution to a cash strapped 12 year old.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

  • The internet on my ipod doesn't work

For some reason, the internet on my ipod touch isn't working. I was doing fine this morning but it just suddenly went down and so did the computers. I disconnected the internet and brought it back but when i came home to check if it was working it only worked for the computers and not for the Ipod touch. Is it the Ipod touch or is it the internet itself? And also to anyone who has this problem, do you have time warner cable because that might be the problem?

Try restarting your wireless router by removing the power to it for 30 seconds and restarting.

I have never done this myself,  however I know you can use some computer as the WiFi hotspots.  Macs do, and some PCs do.
There is not a way to physically connect the iPod to use the computers Internet connection.

  • TS1398 Why is it that my iPod 'connects' to a wifi network but doesn't log an IP address and can't use the internet?

My iPod has no trouble connecting to my wifi connection, but never stops loading. The wifi bars appear at the top of the iPod, but when you get further details on the wifi network, no IP address is logged; neither is the router number or the DNS number. My iPod registers that a wifi connection exists, but it can't hook up to it to use the internet. Does anyone know what is wrong?
