Using the Local Director static command

A few questions:-
1. I understand that this can be used to change the source IP address for real server oubound connections. Please confirm if this is just for connections that are initiated by the stipulated real servers.
2. I have a group of servers already being load balanced by a virtual using port 80 and want to use the static command to change the source IP address for connections that are initiated by the real servers to port 80. Could some just provide a few lines of sample config for this. Many Thanks

Yes, for outbound connections that the real server makes (not in response to a user accessing the virtual server), the IP address is translated to the virtual IP address identified by the static command. If the real_ip exists as a real server, then the outbound connection is counted toward the number of connections for that real server (that is, it will affect load balancing); otherwise, the connection is only translated and does not affect load balancing.
I am not sure about the static configuration for a particular port. Anyone else would like to comment?

This eliminates the need to use a router between the Local Director and the real servers. Does this mean that the Local Director is routing between subnets? Do the real servers use the Local Director alias address as their default gateway? Can someone provide an example config using the "alias ip address" command?

    no, the local director will not route. there are two ways to make this work.
    1
    the router on the front side of the local director must be configured with a secondary ip address from the real server subnet plus add the alias command
    or
    2
    use the alias command, plus each real server must be configured with a static ARP entry. the ARP entry is for the ip address of the servers configured default gateway and the MAC address of the router interface.

  • I am not able to access the sharepoint:80 site using the local IP address.

     I am able to access the Central administration using the Local LAN IP address and the port number, but, I am not able to access the sharepoint:80 site using the same local IP address without the port for the central administration. I tried adding
    the local IP address in the Alternative Access Mapping to no avail. Any ideas, where I should look, is much appreciated.

    I found this and it fixed my issue..
    I was suffering with this same problem, I followed these steps and everything returned to normality:
    1.- I opened KeyChain app and run the FirstAid (from the KeyChain app Menu)with my user Password (this do work) because the problem is not with your password. If there is any trouble with your keychain file this will fix it.
    2.- Opened Disk Aid and run Fix Persmissions just in case there was left some wrong file permissions during the upgrade.
    3.- Went back to the Key Chain App and Locked and Unlocked the Keychain using the Lock in the top left corner of the app. When asked for my password I simply typed my User password.
    After this everything worked fine. These are the steps that I followed but I really think that #3 did the trick here. You could try to do only #3 directly and it might fix your problem, but fixing the Keychain and fixing OS permissions is never a bad Idea.

    Hi,
    if you want to import an ISO image, why you mount it?
    after you complete your installation.
    1- discover server. (if your installation is finished good, then you found your server in Onglet Servers and VMs / unassigned servers)
    2- Go to Perspective / Physical Disk to verify that detect the second partition
    3- if it's good, then crearte a pool with no Clustered Server Pool.
    4- create a repository on your physical disk.
    5- Go to ISOs in your repository and click import iso image.
    Now, verify that your apache/httpd server it is working or not.
    1- after you install apache/httpd
    2- you shoud verify if it is running or not (pgrep httpd) if not start it (e.g. service httpd start )
    3- copy the ISO file under /var/www/html
    4- open your browser and verify.
    and at this point i think it is good.
    then copy the url to import the iso file with Oracle VM Manager
    the URL Look's like http://IP-Address/image-iso.iso
    you should verify that the IP-Address is reached from the Oracle VM Server.
    and that's it
    I tested it: and in my case:
    i have copied the windows iso image:
    cp ../windowsXP.iso /var/www/html/
    and now my URL is like * http://IP-Address/windowsXP.iso*

    You can use vb coding in BEx Analyser to calculate your unit price. For this you have to first display the attributes of your object "XYZ". Then you can use VB cosing to calculate the value for the unit price field.
    One more thing cna you clarify whether is it display attribute or variable ?

    I don't know which old version you're referring to but iPhoto 6's,  7's and 8's retouch tool works exactly the same as iPhoto 9's. The color of the enhance tool's area while applying is a light brown color but the retouch works on any color using the surrounding colors as a basis.

    Hi,
    I'm trying to construct a user query filter that would return me all the users in a particular static group, in order to integrate with some Synchronisation Services in Plumtree Portal.
    I'm thinking of using the iplanet-am-static-group-dn attribute to do so.
    However it seems that although I can see this attribute, there are restrictions using this for queries. I could only use this attribute to query when using the root account. When I tried the same query with my application account, it returned no results.
    I need advice on a few issues:
    1) Are there other better ways to query for the users in a static group? I'm not sure if the iplanet-am-static-group-dn attribute will remain stable in future releases.
    2) If there are no better ways to do this, can the right to query using this attribute be delegated? This is a system attribute, so I'm not sure if we can really open this out to be searchable by other users other than root?
    Appreciate any advice on this at all, as I'm running on a tight deadline for this solution.

    The best way to query for members of a static group is to read the list of uniqueMembers in the group entry itself.
    The iplanet-am-static-group-dn attribute is an attribute whose usage is private to Identity Server, and is not guaranteed to be up to date, accurate, or maintained by any other tool that used the directory.

    is it possible to use the local db of my developers workplace?
    I am planning to create jsp-pages in the netweaver developers studio (nds) and want create some db-table for my  application (create and update statements). how can I access the local db in the nds? do I need a special jar-file like in jdbc to handle the communication with the db?
    In a later step I want to migrate this application into the local sap portal.

    I need to find a way to have the local administrator of a Windows Server 2012 system grant a local user (non-administrator) the ability to add a user for the machine using the local group policy editor. The machine is not part of any Active Directory environment,
    this is strictly on the one machine.  In my situation it is not an option to just make the user an administrator. The idea is to give someone the right to add a user and have no other such administrative rights. I need to accomplish this using the
    Local Group Policy editor or the Group Policy Management Console if it is possible to do this outside of an active directory environment. This is not an assignment to learn how to use these tools and I am not even sure if it would even be possible though I
    need to either find a way or find proof that it is not possible using these applications.

    As far as i know, we cannot add the user if we have no local admin permission, we will receive the error"Access denied".

  • Using the "buffers tune automatic" command.

    Network traffic at mylocation is fairly stable, but bursts of very high acctivity can occure at random intervals causing "misses."  It is probably not worth investing the time and effort to do manual buffer tuning.  Using the "buffers tune automatic" command could be an option.  It doesn't lppk like it adds any overhead, since the parameter computing is being done anyway.
    My question is has anyone implemented this command on their systems?  If so, has performance improved or degraded?
