Using the Mac Mini to create a Wisp Client Router
My condo association has just offered WiFi to all units however the problem that I have is firstly lack of signal penetration within my unit and secondly the use of WPA2 Enterprise PEAP access. I can't find *ANY* Wisp routers or range extenders that can handle this protocol so what I am thinking is the following.
(1) Set up my Mac Mini to connect to the condo's WiFi
(2) Set up internet sharing on the Mac Mini to share it's wireless internet with the ethernet port
(3) Attach a wireless router or Access point (please tell me which one to use) to share this internet throughout my apartment and hopefully have the Mac Mini included in the resulting network neighborhood.
Will this work as described? Is this the best (or only) solution? I need to hook up things like a WiFi all-in-one printer, VOIP phone, Dell workstation, Asus laptop, roku, Sony PS3, + others and the current WiFi signal will not reach them all plus not all devices can join this secured WiFi signal.

Besides a Wifi Router, I think I'd add one of these to the Mini to make that happen...

I doubt the CUDA engine is going to do much for you in Premiere. You need a beefy video card designed for CUDA and the mini doesn't have one.
Cut ProResLT and you can use FW800. Anything heavier, you'll want to go thunderbolt.

Using the mac mini with a dial up internet connection
How do I go about using my mac mini with a dial up internet connection? I am soon to be moving to a rural area and dial up will be my only internet option. Please be very specific in your answer as I am not a very tech savvy fellow. Thank you for your help.

Very hard to find one now, but it has the advantage that it connects to the ethernet ports of up to two computers, rather than using a less reliable usb connection. -
If i wanted to connect an external hard drive to my iPad, what can I use? Or would I have to purchase a Mac mini?
Sorry, I DO NOT RECOMMEND the camera connection kit for what you are asking!
I was trying to say that as I have the connection kit (bought for camera use so no loss for me)
I often WISH it could do more.
So sorry for the confusion.
The camera connection kit only allows you to send photos and video (that are correctly formatted I might add) to the photos app.
Other people have had success with it connecting to keyboards, but that us not so useful. -
I really, really love the moveable screen to our old desktop iMac, and would hate to lose that feature, but, let's face it, it isn't Intel. Since you can use other hard drives as start-up disks, would it be possible to do so in this instance? and how difficult would it be?
A slim chance, only if the new Mini was running a Universal version of 10.5.x, which the newest ones cannot.
But, you could display & run the Mini on the old iMacs screen with Screen Sharing on the Mini, & the iMac using Chicken of the VNC...

Using a Mac Mini with my Mac Pro
I have a Mac Pro and a Mac Mini, but only one monitor and one keyboard. Can I hook up the Mac Mini so it will appear on the monitor (like another hard drive) when I am using the Mac Pro? I would like to use the Mac Mini strictly as a storage device and be able to drag files from the Mac Pro to the Mac Mini.

Hi all, I remember using my PC to download music back when i had dial up 10 years ago. I used to leave it running all night and in this way it was doing something productive. Now I have broadband and it's no longer an issue.
It seems like new hardware is mainly used for gaming. Can it be used for anything productive? what can I do with a Mac Mini to make my life better/more efficient.

I don't mind spending time learning a programming language if it'll give me a chance to use the Mac Mini for something!Useful for almost anything, as a computer can run scripts or macros to perform tasks automatically; could be used for a total house control system, everything from feeding a kitty to open/close windows, on/off lights, water a yard, mow the lawn, and anything wireless technologies could do.
I even saw where someone put a mini in their car several years ago and it helped keep the owner connected to the internet, had touchscreen, voice communication without a handset, etc. Since it runs off DC voltage, it could run on a DC-to-DC converter, and not need an AC power supply. It could control a solar power grid with backup generation. There are so many devices that control other things. And room for a few more, if you want to put together some parts or make something to perform a task not done a peculiar way, before. With a round world, our night is someone elses day. What can you do for them half a world away? Is your imagination as boundless as it needs to be, to innovate a new or fun thing? Or be one of a few to offer a unique service. Put the mini in a helium balloon and let it go solar power, with backup battery, above the clouds and pollution. Wireless. Like a micro radio station to walk dogs.
If you are looking for a task for a Mini, you could let a server farm host it for you in their own facility. Not sure if that would be profitable to you, though. But then you wouldn't have to look at it! LOL

Connect the computers to the same network, insert a CD in the Mac mini, start File Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences, choose Connect to Server from the Finder's Go menu on the MacBook Air, and log into the Mac mini.

Using Safari, get the Mac Mini to play streaming items on AppleTv
My family has a mac mini that has Mountain Lion OS on it. We also have a second Generation Apple TV. However, even though it worked previously, for some reason Apple TV is no longer detecting the Mac Mini. We have connected the two machines on the same router using Ethernet (our wireless was super slow). We basically want to use the Apple TV to put the image on the tv of whatever is playing on Safari. How do I do that?
There does not appear to ba a facilty for this on the iPad. However there are a number of apps that will allow you to create and play video playlists. Try VP Lite which is free.
