Using the microphone

Why can I use the microphone on this operation, but I can't do it when I'm trying to search online Firefox?

The keyboard for the address bar seems to use the button that normally has the microphone icon for the / character instead. I see the same in Firefox and Chrome.
However, Chrome has a separate microphone icon in the address bar, which Firefox does not. I have no idea whether one can be added to Firefox.
(Checking on a Play Store Nexus 5, so other devices definitely could vary and probably do.)

Problem in using the microphone in a Motorola HT820

Hello,
I'm trying to use the microphone in a Motorola HT820 bluetooth headset/headphones. It works well when I use just headphones, so I don't have any problem when I listen. However, when I use Skype or audio recording applications, the microphone doesn't work at all. When I set up audio, if I choose HT820 microphone as an input device, an error message comes up which says "Bluetooth audio failed. There was an error connecting to your headset. Make sure it is turned on and in range. The audio portion of the program you were using may have to be restarted."
HT820 works well (both headphones and microphone) with my iPhone but the microphone doesn't work at all on my iMac.
Anyone who knows how to solve this problem? Any comment will be greatly appreciated.

This has been going on for awhile. It's an Apple system bluetooth software issue, which will hopefully be solved in the next OS X update.

I doubt that the Apple headset is compatible with your laptop. Apple devices have an extra "ring" in the plug and jack for connecting the control buttons. Your laptop does not recognize the extra contact.

Is it possible to use the microphone dictation in windows based program?

Is it possible to use the microphone dictation in windows based program? I have tried dictating into Pages and copying and pasting, but the Windows based (Allscripts EHR) recognizes only the first attempt to copy and paste. Any future copying results on the first pasted dictation to show up in the Allscripts EHR.

Try converting to .mp3. You will almost always get some loss when converting one compressed format to another. It shouldn't be that noticeable though.

Start Sound Recocrder
Speak, Sing or may noises
And stop when finish
Save file
To start Sound Recorder
Windows 7: Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > Sound Recorder
Windows 8 & 8.1: Hold down Win key then press Q > Type Sound R in Search box

How does Flash use the microphone?

I'm a long-time Windows driver developer. I'm trying to get Flash to use my virtual webcam/microphone as the current webcam on Windows XP or Windows 7 (identical results). I started out with a DirectShow source filter with two pins (video and audio), but Flash did not see an audio source at all, even though Amcap worked just fine. I then tried making two separate source filters (one with an audio pin, one with a video pin). Again, Amcap is happy but Flash does not see an audio source.
After some debugging, I noticed that it was enumerating the waveIn devices. So, I wrote an old-style waveIn driver for the audio. Flash now negotiates an audio format, but it never initiates streaming. If I bring up the "Options" dialog and go to the microphone tab, then Flash DOES start streaming, presuambly to get information for the VU meter, but as soon as I dismiss the dialog, the streaming stops.
How can I find out what exactly Flash wants? The whole process is frustratingly opaque.

Using the microphone as a microphone

i was wondering if there was any way to set up my powerbook so that if i used a microphone the sound would come out of the speakers. I realize using both the internal microphone &speakers would cause feedback, but if i used an external mic or speakers i'd like to be able to do this. Anyone know of a way?

Buy a USB Headset, that way the very low range of the headsets microphone shouldn't cause any feedback. If it does alter the gain and move away from the computer and it will probably be ok.
I have a Plantronics headset which works great.
I used ebuyer.com for the reviews and then bought it from www.amazon.co.uk
And it's really good for Skype too which was it's intended purpose.

WOW... Can't use the microphone with X-Fi XtremeMus

When I plug in the Audigy 2 ZS, the microphone works 00% fine in programs like TS2 and Ventrilo.
When I plug in the X-Fi, I have TONS of trouble trying to get output through! The microphone only works in Entertainment mode, but I end up hearing myself through the speakers so it's no good!
How can they claim to make a better product, charge almost double the price, and still produce such bad hardware conflicts and bugs? SERIOUSLY.

I had the same problem with my mic not working on my xifi, but found a rather embarrasing solution to it. While it didn't work when i was in the gaming mode, it did work in entertainment mode and that was because i could enable the microphone in the screen where you can increase or decrease volume to the different parts (forgot the name). In the gaming mode the microphone slider wasn't there.
What i found out was that there is a general slider for the multipurpose jack and you can select what adjusts at the top of the slider. When i changed it to microphone i could enable the microphone and all worked.

Hi I use my phone for conference calls and use the microphone jack to connect to speakers. It doesnt work when making phone calls but when i play music on the phone the jack works with the external speaker.

Using the creative faltality USB gaming headset's microphone alone.

Sometimes when I use my headset, I perfer to use the mircohpnone on the headset alone and wears the headset on the neck. This has been going on well with the traditional headset where I can just plug the microphone (pink) in. However, when I get the USB gaming headset today, I found that it automatically disable the sound from the speaker when I conntect the USB cable. How can I set it so I only use the microphone on the headset and can still listen thru my speakers? Thanks

Can I record sound using a microphone and then upload it to server?

Hello guys I thank you in advance for reading this. What I want to know is if it is possible to record a sound clip using a microphone and then upload it to the server using a swf applet in a webpage. Im an experienced java/javascript programmer but just starting out with flash/action script. What technologies will I need to do this? Can I do this simply using simply an swf file and an apache/php or jsp page? Again, thanks alot for your help.

You can Microphone class in Flash to record the sound and it will directly upload to FMS server .
Use the Microphone class to capture audio from a microphone attached to a computer . Use the Microphone class to monitor the audio locally. Use the NetConnection and NetStream classes to transmit the audio to Flash Media Server. Flash Media Server can send the audio to other servers and broadcast it to other clients running Swf files .

Recording using the Line in on my lenovo g550

Hi Guys I have been using the microphone in on my g550 to record music and when I record it any replay it the music sounds quite poor quality. Are there any internal presets I can change to improve this?

There is no Line-in on this notebook. Only an input for the microphone. Buy an external soundcard if you want to record.
