Using the "Rehearse Slideshow"

Im not sure how to phrase this question, but Ill try to explain what it is I want to do.
Im used to using the "light table" or "navigator" view to look at my slides. When I was doing a presentation on the projectors, I found it hard to view all my slides through the screen that comes up when you're connected to the projector. I was having to flip through all the slides to find the one I needed that corresponded with the music being played (presentation is for church service).
Is there a way to use a navigator or table view when doing the presentation?

"Rehearse Slideshow" is used for rehearsing presentations where you plan on using the Presenter Display, but only have one monitor. For what you want do to, simply set your Mac's Display Preferences to monitor spanning (not mirroring), and use the regular Presenter Display settings to see the presenter info on your computer and the presentation on the projector.

I believe you need to go into System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement so the image you want appears on the projector.

  • Using the Preview Slideshow

Is there any way to set the time for displaying a picture using the slideshow feature in Preview. There doesn't seem to be any way to set it in Preview Preferences.

Sorry for the late reply. I've been having issues with my cable connection. The only reason for the Preview slideshow is that I can do a slideshow from the pictures off my memory card, without downloading them to iPhoto. In Preview Preferences, I select "Open all images in one window". I have a card reader & all I do is select the files on the memory card & then Preview slideshow. If you take a bunch of pictures & want to see them right away, without having to download them, for me, it's a lot easier to do a slideshow that way.

  • Rehearse slideshow presentation mode doesn't hide notes on projector screen

Using the Rehearse Slideshow mode in View, I thought Keynote 4.0.1 would allow me to see my notes and the clock on the laptop screen but hide them on the projection screen for the audience. I can't make this work no matter how I set the Keynote preferences; the projection screen always shows the notes.

  • I am using the desktop screensaver and a file from dropbox for photos.  Does the list of screen savers actually use the file, or just link to it.  If I delete the file from the dropbox, will the screen saver be lost?

Using the desktop slideshow, I have added a file from dropbox for the slideshow.  If I delete the dropbox file, does that delete the file from the list on the slideshow?  Do I need to leave the file on the computer itself rather than in the dropbox and then delete it from the dropbox?

If you are going to delete the file from Dropbox, you will need the file on your computer.
You will probably need to put the file in Library/Screen Savers

How can I create a slideshow that depicts only a version of a photo rather than the original?   Since the original and new versions are saved together, the aperture slideshow often choices the original rather than the desired version to display.

There are two things we use the name "Slideshow" for in Aperture:  a Slideshow Album, used for making Slideshows, and the Slideshow that is made.  (Imho, it is a design mistake to not call the containers used to create Slideshows, Books, etc., "Albums".)
The Slideshow will use the Album Pick from any Stack.  A good way to use Aperture is to promote the Image you want to regularly use (such as, for example, a Version with adjustments) to the top of the Stack.  This makes it the Stack Pick, and will be the default Album Pick.  If you haven't done that, you can still change the Album Pick for any Stack in a Slideshow Album.  Expand your Stack(s), select the Image in each Stack that you want to be the Album Pick (and thus shown in the Slideshow), and "Stacks➞Set Album Pick".  (Note the keyboard shortcut; there is also a Toolbar icon for this.)  The change is immediate.  The Slideshow will always show the Album Pick (or, if there is not one, the Stack Pick) for every Stack in your Slideshow Album.

  • Use an iphoto slideshow as a screensaver

I created a slideshow in iPhoto.  Is there a way I can use that slideshow as my screensaver instead of one of the default photo slideshows in preferences?  If so, is there a way to share that between multiple computers as well?  I am using iLife 11.  Thanks!

Dansyacht, I was able to create the smart album using the slideshow, but all that did was pull the photos from my slideshow.  It didn't keep the slideshow intact.  What I want to do is use the complete slideshow as a screensaver, not just the photos from the slideshow.  Thanks for the suggestion however.

  • How do I use the same photo twice in a slideshow created in iPhoto'11?

I created a slideshow in iPhoto'11 and would like to use the first slide also as the last slide.
How can I use the same photo twice?

Seems you have to duplicate the photo in your Library to add the same picture twice.

  • I repeatedly get "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshow" message.  This process is the same on my iMac, MacBook and another iMac.  I have been burning dvd's int he same way for the past 12 months using the exact same steps successfully.

I keep getting "error during rendering/encoding of menus/slideshows" message.  I have been burning DVD's in exactly the same way for the past 12 months and mostly on my MacBook which is 3 years old.  Obviously I'm using iDVD.  I purchased an iMac about a year ago and moved to use this for dvd burning without problem.  A few months ago (approximately) I started to experience problems with burning with the error message above.  I tried everything including starting the whole process from scratch right down to capturing the movie clips from my video recorder into iMovie, then using them in iDVD.  Still the same message came up.  I lost count of how many times I repeated the process with different clips and variations and the same thing happened.  This was also the case with my MacBook and my husband's iMac.
After taking both of mymac's tothe service centre, having new optical thingys put it and even a new hard drive on my iMac along with a new DVD burner the same thing happened.  They told me it must be the process that I am using that is incorrect!
I took my 27" iMac to an apple shop and asked them to assist me while I use the same technique as I always had.  The same message came up so they tried using my clips in one of their mac's.  The same message. They tried it with different clips and the same message.  The only way we could get theirs to work was with a magic DVD which did not produce what I needed and was limited with only one page.
I now cannot use any of my Mac's for the intended purpose that I bought them for - to produce good media for my work!  It was suggested that I purchase some non Mac software to burn DVDs which defeats the object of having a mac with iDVD in my opinion.  I have a book on iDVD which is very informative and have followed the process to the letter and checked all the trouble shooting and still no remedy.  It was mentioned that an up-date may have caused the problem on all my macs.
I feel that this issue should be addressed by Apple as a matter of correctness.
I now find that on the net there are many posts in forums and such like with exactly the same (almost word for word) problems.  Please Apple, keep/regain your good name and sort this out.

Thanks Bengt W for your attention to this matter.  So much appreciated.  And thanks for putting me right on the aim of forums (new to this).  Although, you may regret asking for more information.  I've added everything I can below.
The process I used is as follows:
Import recorded clips of between 5 and 15minutes each from my video recorder into i
Edit the clips (remove unwanted start and endng)
Add title to front of clips
‘Share’ them to ‘movie’ (export using QuickTime)folder in .mov format individually
Open iDVD and ‘create new project’
Select ‘favourite’ theme that I have set up forall my work dvd’s (this has been used successfully many times and I’ve triedwithout using the favourite them).
Add 2 submenus for each group of clips
Select submenu  - drag and drop between 3 – 6 clips in each of the twosubmenus
    Change title colours on clips
Dragand drop image into drop zones where required
In‘map’ view I check for any yellow warnings before burning to disc
In an attempt to remedy the problems I’ve tried the following:
    Try new DVD discs
Try different themes (favourites and standardones)
    Change images in drop zones
Start whole process again even from importingfrom camera again
Two other completely different computers (iMacand MacBook) with iDVD
Go to apple shop and use their computers to doin iDVD
Try with one clip and no menu pages added
Use a clip that I already have that did notoriginate from my camera
    Turn computer off and restart
    New hard drive
    New optical lense (thing)
    New DVD burner
Saving to disc image rather than dvd disc
    Other points:
I also have a ‘flip’ and ‘iPhone’ whereI’ve imported footage camera which, although limited, records and makes videoclips and burns them to DVD through iDVD without problem.
For example, I have just gone through steps 5 - 11 using some clips that were already imported from my iphone to iPhoto and dragged across.  I used a theme that I've used before which has failed and added one sub menu page where the clip went.  It burned to disc image successfully.
The startup disc, I believe will have no space issues asit’s a new hard drive with no use apart from this.  That could have been an issue before (I didn’t check it) butnot now.
Other technical stuff that I don't understand but you may:

  • I have a 4K monitor and want to see a full screen slideshow using the jpeg generated when I "save" a raw file in the raw converter.

I have a 4K monitor (actually a 50 inch Samsung TV).  Looking at my daily photographs on this monitor is astonishing, wonderful, etc. but there is one fly in the ointment so to speak.  With previous monitors when I selected slideshow I could get a full screen "fit or fill" slideshow that I used for grading my images.  My initial work flow all happens in Bridge and Camera Raw.  It goes like this: I download my raw files using Bridge.  In the thumbnail view I delete all the obviously bad images.  Then using Bridge I open each raw file using my preferred presets for sharping and such.  If I like the image I "Save" it to the same folder as a full sized maximum quality JPEG.
Now we get to the part that doesn't work.  At this point I usually start a full screen slideshow and rate each of the JPEGs I have saved.  What I see is a 1920 x 1080 preview image blown up to full screen size which of course looks awful.  Why can't I just view a slightly reduced JPEG image created on the fly by Bridge.  I guess I could tell Bridge to create 3840 x 2160 previews and they would display correctly, but that would be a big hit on disk space.
When I run slideshow using the 1080 pixel preview, I can click on the preview I click on the displayed image and start a full resolution slideshow of the saved JPEGs but the outer edges of the image are not viewable because the image has not been reduced to fit on the monitor screen.
Does anyone know how I can get Bridge to show a full screen slideshow using the saved JPEGs?

Sounds like a driver issue. I never tested in bridge, so I could be wrong. But it sounds to me that when you are connected to that screen, your settings are not set to the full resolution of that screen.

  • Using the Composite/Component AV cable for slideshows

    iPad 32G WiFi
    Hi,
I plan to use the Composite or Component AV cable for slideshows in the Photo app. There is a setting (TV Out) for Videos in Settings, I will set it to PAL when I run the slideshows in Asia later this week.
Question: Once set, will this setting under Videos apply to the Photo app for slideshows as well, or this setting is only good for videos?
Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated! /Kenny

    No problem

  • I have lost images but have them in a dvd slideshow. Is there anyway I can use the dvd to restore the individual images?

I have lost images from a slideshow I made.  Is thre anyway I can use the dvd project to restore those lost individual images?

If these are actually part of a QuickTime movie then the best you can do is try get screen grabs of them.

  • Does Muse optimize the original file because my images in a slideshow resize after I have used the image more than once.

iif I import a photo into my website and make it a small size then when I create a slideshow and add that photo from my computer it comes in too small every time. It's as though Muze is optimizing the original photo and that is very frustrating. I have to open that photo in Photoshop and save it again to fix it. Very annoying. Will this be fixed?

Muse does not touch the original image, but it does maintain an optimized copy of the original. You can verify by locking the original image file to prevent Muse from touching it.
Muse performs the optimization at export/publish time based on the largest instance of the image in the project. In this case, when you re-import the image, Muse is incorrectly assuming you want the new image at the same size as the first instance that you resized smaller. We'll look at fixing this behavior in the next release, but in the mean time there is a workaround.
Instead of opening the image in Photoshop and re-saving, which changes the modification date of the image and signals Muse to re-import the image, try double-clicking until the image is selected. The selection handles will be smaller and solid if you have the image selected. The handles will be larger and hollow if a container is selected. Then resize the image to the dimensions you want. Initially, the image will be pixelated because Muse is still using the previously optimized copy. However, if you choose File->Preview Page in Browser, the image will be re-optimized for the new dimensions and you should see a higher resolution version in both the browser and on your page within Muse.
You can more easily verify the optimization behavior as follows:
    1. Place an image at 25% of its original size.
    2. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will optimize the image at the 25% size.
    3. Duplicate the placed image and resize the duplicate to be twice as big (i.e. 50% of the original). Initially, this duplicate will be blurry after the resize.
    4. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will re-optimize the image and redraw at the higher resolution.
