Using The Removable Disk Opt

Hey! I have a Creative zen Gb and I've turned 52Mb into a removable disk for storage and now I can't change it back to be 0Mb. I've deleted all the files in the removable disk and erased the free space but still it won't give me the option of reducing the size of the removable disk...
Any ideas gratefully received.

  • I think my hard drive crashed. How can I get data off via firewire before the HD completely goes? I was stuck on the BSoD and now I can't even use the install disk. Utility Disk said HD was okay. Please HELP ME

    Safe mode did nothing.
Safe mode with verbose seemed to make it worse.
Before continuously trying new things, I could use the install disk to check the disk utility and clear
the hard drive from there but now the screen won't even load to that.
I really need the data on the hard drive especially if it can't be salvaged.
    How can i transfer files?
Am I better off physically taking my HD out or will it damage itself without
    leaving the system.
    I tried command r
    resetting the pram
    safe mode
    jumping out a window
    nothing has helped.
I am stuck on the blue screen of death and it flickers.

No. In order to use FireWire Target Disk Mode you need to use a FireWire equipped Mac. Other than that the only other way I can think of to even attempt to access you files would be to remove your hard drive and install it in a case and connect it to another computer.

  • Blue Checkered Screen after using the Recovery Disks

I have a Compaq Presario SR2034NX XP Media Center computer. I followed the instructions and installed all the recovery disks. The screen then said to remove all disks and that it's going to reboot several times to finish the installation. During this process I got a blue checkered screen. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I took a picture of what the screen looks like and I'm enclosing a link to the picture here.

Thank you for your help and time!

I run into the same problem with fresh installation of W7 Pro on T530 with 1TB samsung disk.
    This solution worked for me:
Running check for updates will trigger this error message:
“Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer.”
    Solution:
    1.    Go to Administrative Tools/Services, and stop the Windows Update service.
    2.    Then go to the folder c: /Windows/SoftwareDistribution and delete all of the files and folders.
    3.    Then go back to Services and restart the Windows Update service which will recreate all of those folders again.
    4.    Then manually run the Update Service and everything should work.

  • Is anybody using RDX Removable Disk Backup System

I´m sorry, this a new post about an old discussion but I would like to start a fresh dialogue for today; 2011.
Is anybody using RDX Removable Disk Backup System (with or without T.Machine).
An affordable alternative to LTO tape? Proved compatibility with Mac OS?
Is it possible to insert a RDX drive as a second optic unit inside a Mac Pro?
Any happy RDX+mac user, so far?
    Thanks.

I'm not using RDX on a Mac, but I do have one client I'm using RDX for a Windows server.  While RDX is somewhat cost effective over LTO/Ultrium, IMHO it probably wouldnt' be the best for Time Machine.  Time Machine expects the previous backup to be online and if you switch cartridges, TM would have to create a new backup from scratch.  Then if you switch back the cartridges, your TM bundles are out of sync.  I'm not saying it's not possible, but that this is not the "normal" way TM works.  So you need to understand what you need to do if you were planning to switch cartridges.  (If you weren't planning to switch cartridges, then a "normal" external or internal hard drive is more cost effective than RDX.)
RDX cartridges are basically 2.5" SATA hard drives.  The RDX "drive" is, for the most part, just a SATA to USB converter.  (Or SATA to eSATA or whatever interface you get.)  On the PC the advantage is that you don't have to "safely remove hardware" and you don't lose the drive letter.  On the Mac, a "normal" external hard drive is almost as convinient as RDX, since there's no drive letter to worry about.  The RDX's advantage on the Mac would be not having to plug/unplug a USB cable on the external units.  I suppose you could get an internal eSATA RDX to put into a Mac.  I don't know of anyone doing that.
I did use my client's USB RDX drive on his Macbook, just to see what we could do with it.  While it worked, we didn't do extensive testing so I can't comment on long term satisfaction with OSX.  But so far it's been reliable with Windows for almost two years.  (Windows Server 2008 with Backup Exec 2010.)  However since RDX is basically just a hard drive, I've gotten the client to realize that in a year or two, we'll probably have to start replacing cartridges, assuming his data size doesn't grow beyond the RDX capacity.  This is based on the assumption that the RDX cartridges would have similar longevity to laptop hard drives, which have 3-5 year warranties.  We probably will get more lifespan than that, but better to have the client plan in the budget now, rather than have backups fail.

  • Do you know how to remove the removable disk dr

i accidently pushed the removable disk so it used 28mb is there away to take that out

What mp3 player do you have?
In the Zen Micro it's Menu--> Extras-->Removable Disk--> and set how large you want it.
If you don't want to use Removable Disk, set it to Disable and let it delete that partition.
You will lose any data on it, so make sure you've backed it up if it's important to you.
Other mp3 players probably use a similar system for Removable Disk.

  • Can I use the install disk on two computers?

I haven't actually installed it on my computer yet, I just allowed whatever was going to install itself to come up. If I have another computer, can I use the install disk to put OSX on there or not? If so, can I still use it in case I need a backup load of my computer?

Only if you get a family pack license newer than the installer disk which came with the computer(s) can you install it on multiple computers. Check your license agreement.
You can't use the disks which came with another computer on a second computer. These articles explain more along those lines:

    Hi,
Shutdown the notebook.  Tap away at f11 as you start to access Recovery Manager which you can then use to reinstall the Operating System.

  • Satellite L500-19X - Can't use the recovery disk

Well I got this laptop two days ago and used it once after installing fire fox and my mobile broadband drvier's and going back home to boot up and find it was going to happen,
I had tried safe mode (all three) and repair and all I got was a black screen with the cursor up where there should have been a language screen (I used the recovery disk that came along with the laptop) so anyway after finding out I wasnt going to be able to repair it I tried to install but of course that didn't work either so I put my XP 64 bit OS on and worked perfectly fine, then I upgraded (using my own upgrade windows 7) and that works fine no problems, so I tried again with the original windows 7 that came pre-installed on the laptop's hard drive and all went find untill it starts installing driver's or updates (I'm not 100% sure on this but it is at and/or after the face recognition installation,
Then it shuts it's self down and boots back up to automatically restart and asking me if I want to repair due to a bad start-up so I do the repair boots back up and still says I need to repair and finds nothing wrong and carrys on in that circle.
Now I have been told that it could be the register or it is a graphics problem, I myself am getting pretty fed up of having to install/reinstall/format this laptop.
So if there is anyone who know's what is wrong or what to do or even if it needs to be sent back to be fixed that will be very helpful.
    I thank anyone in advance.
    Happy new year :)

    Hi
Well, I think its really hard to say what the reason is. Maybe the recovery disk is scratchy or the files corrupt there.
At the moment I cant imagine that its a hardware problem because other Windows disk working properly.
In your case I would try to install Windows 7 from a Microsoft disk and then see what happens. If it works properly and you can install all drivers & tools you should order a new recovery disk from Toshiba directly.
    Bye

  • Satellite A300-1mz Can I use the recovery disks after a HDD upgrade?

I'm upgrading the hard drive of my *toshiba a300-1mz*, but I'd be sure that I can use the *recovery disks* maked at the first boots for the s.o. (vista)
    I expect your support...
    thank you very much...

    > how can I be sure that the disk is properly recognized before I buy it???
What do you mean exactly? Did you mean the HDD???
The A300 supports and 2.5 SATA HDD and all 2.5 HDD should be recognized properly since the SATA HDD controller hasnt any limitations.
    Bye

  • Hello. I have two version of Office for Mac. 2008 and 2001. I want to delete the 2008 version. If I use the removal tool within the Offie 2008 folder, is there any danger of the 2001 version being removed too.  Thanks Dave UK

Do you mean Office 2008 and 2011 or do you really want Office 2001? I think you mean 2011 since Office 2001 wouldn't make much sense.
The Office uninstaller should be able to identify there are two versions and allow you to delete either one or both.

  • Using the Remote Disk the first time - didn't work!

I wanted to install SL on my MBA using the Remote Disk feature, went through all the steps on my iMac where the SL disk was loaded, and all the steps on the MBA.
Everything was going fine until I was asked, on the MBA, to give the password of the network I wanted to join. Well no dice! It just refused it. I tried it numerous times but it kept on refusing it. The password was of course always the correct one.
Anybody know what could be going on? Thanks!

Turning off security on the router did the trick. Thanks!
What I'm now wondering is why Apple, unfortunately did not address this in the instructions of "To use Remote Install Mac OS X" page 46 of the User's Guide:

Would've saved a lot of people a lot of problems!

I am using OS X and am trying to set up a HP ENVY 5660 e printer and the drivers are not listed.  I read somewhere not to use the install disk.  What do I do?

Your suggestion was a good one and what I found was that to use this and any other printer I looked at is that I need to update the operating system to a later version.  I have been reluctant in the past to do this after reading update horror stories and since this computer does what I need and very well.  Was glad I moved over from windows and this is the first problem I have had.  Thanks for your help and any other suggestions you may have.

  • Using the Recovery Disk

    Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite Model: A135-S4527.  My computer has been crashing randomly, and I am looking to re-install the factory image.  However, my DVD drive is broken, and thus, I cannot use the recovery disk directly.  I tried to buy an external USB DVD drive, but the recovery disk does not seem to be able to work using the external DVD drive,  When I try to re-install with the disk in the external DVD drive, it keeps asking me to insert a disk into the internal DVD drive (D, even though the internal drive does not work anymore.  Does anyone know if there's any way I can reinstall the factory image with an external DVD drive, or other method?  Thanks for the help!

The Toshiba recovery disk requires the internal CD/DVD drive.  There isn't any workaround for that.
    Sorry.

  • GT60 - Can I break RAID0 and then use the Recovery disks?

Is it possible to break the RAID0 and then use the recovery disks from MSI Burn Recovery or a Windows Home Premium Disk with the code from the sticker on my laptop,  to install back to factory settings without the RAID0? Just want to make sure before I do something drastic. Thank you.

you can always make an system image of your current windows on an external drive and then experiment with it and if anything breaks, just change bios settings to older ones and recover your older system, everything will be intact like nothing ever happened.
