Using the return or enter key in the note

In Snow Leopard I was able to create lists in the "Note" section at the bottom of the edit view of an event by hitting the enter/return key and typing the next item on the list below the previous. In Lion when I hit enter/return in "Note" it closes out my edit window as if I have finished editing rather than moving to a new line beneath the first. I am now sequentially typing items using / between each item to differentiate them. Can I change this somehow to go back to the old enter/return behavior?

I don't know if there is a direct method in Automator.

InCopy crashes when adding a note using the Notes Palette

I wonder if anyone else is experiencing this problem. Frequently InCopy (CS3 5.0.4) will crash when attempting to add a note from inside the notes palette.
Using the Notes Palette is not always the most efficient. With the curser placed where I want the note (outside a table, of course), the New note option will be grayed out. I then click through the notes already in place and navigate to my current location. After that, the New note option appears. (I would use the Note Tool as a rule, but it is very challenging to place the note right where I want it.)
I have noticed, that if I save right before attempting to add a note, InCopy will not crash. This may be supersition, however.
If this matters, the files I am editing come to me via InDesign as InCopy packages. I am on a new MacBook Pro with 4 GB ram.
I am just wondering if this is a known issue and if there is a fix in the works.

I've not heard of any kind of issue like this but I can tell you that CS3 will not receive any further updates.
BTW, if you use the story or galley view, inserting a note is far easier.

I've followed the instructions given in the customize toolbar section, but I am thinking that perhaps this toolbar just doesn't work with Mozilla?

Using the note app and a password prompts

When typing in the note app I am continually asked for my Yahoo! password. Entering it does not make the message go away. Please help!

Well, I've got it to work although not ideal.
1. On my main computer (iMac) I created the playlist that I want available to control at a party.
2. I went to iTunes settings/Sharing and selected "Share selected playlists" and checked the playlist I made for a party.
3. I Linked my iPod to MacBook (which is outside with external speakers) using the 4 digit code
4. iPod, Home Sharing Off
5. Select the Library on iPod
6. Select "More" (bottom right of iPod)
7. Select "Shared" from the list that appears
8. Select the computer that has the shared library
9. Select the playlist (or lists if you created others)
This setting is allowing me to use my iPod "Remote App" to play an iTunes playlist (or the entire catalogue) from a shared library on my MacBook WITH the sound coming from my MacBook and NOT from my iMac where the original iTunes catalogue is located.
Not sure if this is the easiest way, but it's working.

I'm using the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac so I can record a meeting as well as take notes. The audio of the internal microphone is so low - can I attach an external mic and have it work with note taking view?

Can I attach an external mic to my Macbook Air to enhance sound input for the note taking view of Word 2011 for Mac? I've tried preferences to up the volume of my sound, but I still cannot hear the recording. Any suggestions? I need to record a meeting as well as take notes so I'd like to use this tool, but the audio is not good enough.

A USB microphone can work with the Air, and I've used them before with my 11" Air. Griffin also made a product (the iMic) that will add a standard computer microphone port, connecting to your USB port. It's heyday was the time of the old iBook laptops (which also lacked a microphone in jack) but I think it's still around.
The single sound port on the 2011 models, as I recall, supports iPhone style headphone/microphone but I don't believe it will support a standard microphone input.
The built in microphone sits on the left side of the computer and I suspect wouldn't work well for picking up a lecture unless you were sitting just right in position vs. the speaker (preferably having the speaker positioned to the left and sitting really close). By design most laptop microphones presume they are going to be mainly used to record a sound coming from the person sitting at the keyboard, while for a lecture you normally would prefer it concentrate on sound coming from behind the screen.

Anyone find a good tutorial or book to walk you through the simple operations of the Notes appl? Like the ability to copy info from one sheet to another?

Not true! Copy/Paste works the same here as everywhere else and there are some other similar features that are very useful in that app. Notes is what I use to park frequently-used URLs, text snippets, etc. As for how:

Unable to use keyboard (return or enter) to select install

Hi All;
am attempting to install XP and when I get to the screen with 3 selections: 1) press r to repair; use f3 to I don't recall or press enter to install XP I get no input through the keyboard, I am using an I-Mac with the standard usb keyboard, have been unable to find any tips on apple site.

How to use the not exists query

Using obiee 11g,
i would like to know how to deal with not exists query in the obiee11g,
the query is like this
select count(a.col1),a.col2 from table1 a ,table2 b where a.col1=b.col1
and not exists
(select d.col1 from table3 d, table4 e
where d.col1=e.col1 and d.col1=a.col1)
group by a.col2
there are 4 tables.
table1,table2,table3,tabel4
this is what i need in a report,these tables are used in othere places also,
would prefer if its possible to do in for a report i.e.e analysis itself.
If not possible then may be in rpd since if i change in rpd it may reflect every place
and not in for a report itself.

Implement this in report itself can be a tricky and tedious job..But better to have it in RPD - Physical - Select Table type
USE NOT IN in place of NOT Exist..You can simply use SELECT statement in SELECT TABLE TYPE

Return AND Enter keys won't work. Help

Neither key works. Restoring keyboard default didn't work. Very frustrating. Is there a way I can change functionality of keys to get 'Return' and/or 'Enter' back in my mix? Obviously necessary, as I write many letters and often text with clients (if it doesn't have a 'Send' button, I'm screwed). Terribly frustrating. Any info appreciated, as I cannot afford a new keyboard at present. Thanks in advance.

IChat will not let me use Return/Enter key to send IM. Just makes sound?

OS 10.5.2. iChar launches fine. I double click name I want to send IM to. Type a message, then hit Return to send the message. It will not send. I here system sound when I use Return or Enter key on 2nd or 3rd attempts. 1st attempt, no sound. So, I can't send messages.
I repaired permissions and trashed the 4 iChat preference files in my preference folder.
Not sure what I have done but Return key is fine. Works in Skype and all other apps. iChat just does not like it so no way to send messages.

Quit iChat.
Open Terminal (Applictaions/Utilities)
Copy and Paste Bold text
/Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat -errorLogLevel 7
Hit Enter.
This will cause iChat to be started up and create a Log in Terminal which may tell us more.
Do what you normally do to send text messages.
Do what you do to Quit iChat.
Grab All of the Log.
Quit Terminal.
Post log here. It will be long. If you want to split it do so around the bit that says if it found UPnP and your router's name.
Make sure the bits cross over when you post.

Please help! Can't find the option 'Press enter key to send'

Hi guys, Recently I cleared my whatsapp data and cache accidently. Till then I was using my slide keyboard 'enter key' to send the message. I was able to restore my whatsapp but the 'enter key' is taking me to a new line instead of sending the message, which is annoying. Well, this is a setting in the whatsapp and not the phone itself. Unfortunately I haven't used whatsapp myself but maybe someone else here has and can help you out.

Using the AutoText Feature: An easy way to generate Digital Signatures

One feature I find particularly useful is "AutoText".
Using this, you can assign a keystroke combination to effectively generate a word, phrase or sentence while typing messages on your blackberry.
This is a great tool, particularly for multiple digital signatures across several email addresses, text messages and also to use with apps like Facebook and Twitter.
To access the "AutoText" feature, begin a new email or text message, hit the "Menu" button and select "Edit AutoText".
A list of all the stored abbreviations is displayed.
Simply begin typing the set of keystrokes you want to associate with your digital signature (or any other word/ phrase/ sentence etc.) and you will see the current abbreviations associated with those keys.
Type in a unique set of keys you want to associate with a series of words and hit the "return" or "enter" key.
A new screen with the following display will appear:
"Replace:
With:
Using: SmartCase
Language: All Locales"
In the "Replace:" section, key in your own abbreviation and the associated word or words in the "With:" area.
Pick the options from the "Using:" and "Language:" drop down menus and you're done!!
Hit the "Back" key and select "Save" from the dialog box which appears.
Now, use the keystroke you just created while typing messages and see how much easier this wonderful feature makes your life!!
