Using the $ to lock a cel in a formula

Hi there,
when i put a string in my formule to block the cel ( so i can draw the formule down) it just works fine. But after saving, closing and re-opening my file the formula has changed and doesn't work anymore!
for example;
I put an amount in cel B4 (let's say: € 4,50)
in the cells B10 to B13 i put a figure.
in cel C10 to C13 i want to have a formula that multiplies the figure from B10 to B13 with the amount in cel B4.
that isn't to difficult,
just type "=B$4*C10" in cel C10 and you're finished. Drawing down the formule into cel C11 to C13 just works fine.
But after saving and reopening the file the formula has changed into:
"=$B$4:$4*B10"
it doesn't work anymore!
can anybody tell me what i'm doing wrong? (i did this for years in excel)

Hi Vincent,
After the original install Is Pages in its default location or did you move it to another location? The updater will look in the default location nowhere else.
There are numerous post in this discussions where folks move Pages to another location to fit their needs, not a good thing. If you didn't move it to another location please search this discussion for "cannot update Pages" or the like; you'll see numerous suggestions.

Hello there,
I'm not so good at automator and I need some help.
I have a lot of excelsheet to make. Each sheet is about a customer ans should go to a specific folder.
As i am naming the folders by date followed by the name of the customer, it would be easy to fill the name in a cell. Can I expect automator to take the content of that cell and uwe it as a ame to save in a folder I should place in another cell.
P. ex.
cell A1 content 20090325verfreproposition
cell A2 content 20090325verfre
Automator should name the file as 20090325verfreproposition.xlsx
and save it in the folder named 20090325verfre.
Is that possible?

You should be able to. Open the .ini file, read the key (if it exitst) delete it and write a new key (you might be able to directly overwrite the key but I havent tried this). Close the file with the write file? set to true and you should have modified the .ini file with the config vis.

I use a French bluetooth keyboard how do i lock the numbers for doing calculations? Does anybody know? i.e. the numbers are above the top row of keys and you have to use the shift key to access them. You can't use the cap lock key to lock the numbers.

Hi,
Try using SUMCT, SUMGT,SUMRT which are there in data functions in query designer.
You need to first create formula and then use SUMCT,SUMGT, SUMRT.

Wrong Phase using the Lock-in Tool kit

Hi!
We have been using the NI Lock-in toolkit. To test it, we have connected it to a system under test, that simply consists of a R/C low pass filter. This is useful, since we can calculate the exact response in advance.
The amplitude (gain) response is correct and is always the same, however, when looking at the phase response, the first section is looking good but then it produces seemingly random and erratic results everytime.
The phase response jumps around and produces 180 and 360 phase shifts.
Has anyone ever had that problem? Any explanations for this behavior? Any remidies?

Our setup is very straight forward. We are using a generic M-Series board to generate the stimulus signal as follows:
Output frequency for x-number of cycles - measure gain/phase response.
To sample the response, we are using an S-Series board. All of it is done using DAQmx drivers, which again, I don't think makes any difference, since we are experiencing the same problems with a 'pure' software simulation.
Our unit under test is comprised of a resistor and a capacitor, which represents a simple low pass filter with predictable gain/phase response.
It appears to us that the erratic phase response at higher frequencies is a result of 1pi versus 2pi phase wrap or flip, which may not be handled correctly by the lock-in tool kit.
We were thinking of "unwrapping" the phase, but I wanted to find an explanation for this behaviour first, to ensure that we are not dealing with a software bug.
Also, where can we find the unwrap phase.vi?

How to select rows or columns of tables without using the mouse?

In Excel, I can select entire rows or columns of data WITHIN TABLES--i.e., not selecting entire sheet rows or columns--by going to any cell on the perimeter of the table, holding down shift+ctrl, and clicking a direction arrow. So for example, if I have a table in columns D-G and rows 1-5, I can highlight row 4 by going to the first or last cell of that row, holding down the shift+ctrl, and hitting the appropriate direction arrow. You might think this is superfluous given that you can use the mouse to select cells. But that becomes cumbersome with large tables, and this method can be more efficient even with small tables.
Similarly, it's often useful to navigate tables, particularly large ones, by moving from any cell within the table to the end or beginning of that row or column by holding down ctrl and hitting the appropriate arrow key. In Excel, this ctrl+arrow key method also allows you to skip blank cells, which is another very useful navigational feature.
I tried numerous combos involving shift, ctrl, command, alt/option and the arrow keys. Haven't found a way to do any of this yet.

Numbers is organized differently than Excel, and the navigation tools are different too. Many of us miss our particular favorites from spreadsheets past, but this is Numbers, not a clone. The biggest adjustment is to go from huge monolithic sheet-tables containing virtual sub-tables to a simple blank sheet with small tables, sometimes many per sheet. Navigating is no big deal in these small tables and neither is getting from one small table to another, using the Sheets pane.
Selecting a particular Table is as easy as clicking on the table's name in the Sheets pane. Selecting a particular row, or column, or ranges of rows or columns is done by clicking on the table's row and column labels, left side and top side once a cell is selected in the table.
Numbers is weak at handling large Tables and documents that are large overall. We know this and many of us still prefer it to the alternative when the tool fits the task.

Firefox won't let me use the shift key

Basically when I try and use the shift key I keep getting this bar come up on the bottom of my screen and begins typing my text in there. Even when I close the bar and press the shift key again it still appears; I'm not sure how I can stop it from happening or how to disable it. It's getting frustrating not being able to type properly- I have to use the caps lock key for capitals.

hello Sab01, your screenshot shows the firefox developer toolbar which can be brought up with the keyboard shortcut shift+f2. so this is just a guess, but maybe your keyboard's f2 key is hanging...
in case you cannot solve it that way, please enter '''about:config''' into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''devtools.toolbar.enabled''' - double-click the entry and toggle its value to '''false'''. this will generally disable the developer toolbar after you restart the browser.

That's your carrier default wallpaper, you can get it by going to options, display, then click on the advanced button, which looks like an equaliser and then click 'reset to carrier wallpaper'.

Who has the @#$% record locked!?

I know there are hundreds of other posts asking this (I've read every one I think), but none give the whole answer (unless I haven't found that one yet). I hate to have to add another one, but I can't believe this has not been resolved due to the sheer number of people asking for this.
Instead of the non-user friendly "Could not reserve record..." message which means nothing to the users and just generates calls to me, I want to display "User XYZ has the record locked" so the user that gets this message will call the other user instead! Should be simple, right?
I know to use the on-lock trigger and select for update to see if the row is locked. I know to use v$lock to look for rows with the type of 'TX'. The trouble is, there will be multiple TX type rows. How do I know which one is MY row? No column in v$lock, v$locked_object or v$session seems to map to the rowid, which is the only way I know to identify MY row.
Please, how do I relate MY row to one of the TX type rows in v$lock (or a row in v$locked_object which has the userid in it)!? Are there other system views I need to be aware of that have this info maybe?

Disable the remote lock code

I downloaded iOS5 and like any new toy, I wanted to play to see how it all worked. I went to Find iPhone on our iPad and did a remote search. It asked for a remote passcode, but now everytime my phone goes to sleep, I must use the passcode to get back into it. Please tell me there is a way to disable this!! I need to be able to get my calls immediately, being I work in a school and need to limit the distractions. (I get fumbly when unexpected calls come in! )

Why doesn't my account use the Mavericks unlock screen?

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro. I have upgraded it through every version of OS X released since I purchased it, currently running Mavericks. I noticed on Lion that my user account does not use the new screensaver unlock dialog - the lock screen has not changed. Any new account I create on my computer uses the new lock screen dialog. Just not my account. I've asked on StackExchange, no answers. I've tried every option in System Preferences related to lock screen or screensaver. I've tried deleting every plist I could find that seemed remotely related. No luck. When my screensaver is triggered, the password dialog I see is this:
This is a direct screen capture of my lock screen. My user account name is automatically filled in (grayed out here). This is not supposed to be the way it works. Every other Lion+ machine we have in our lab group shows user icon and a password field, NOT what I see above. The screen I see when first starting the computer is correct - list of users, with icons and password fields. The issue I am reporting has NOTHING to do with the main login screen, just the screensaver unlock dialog. This is relatively minor, but it is driving me absolutely batty: Why does my account, and my account ONLY, display this behavior?

In Settings>General>Restrictions is the Camera turned off?
