Using the Toneport UX8 with Logic Pro 8

I got used to using my toneport in Live 7 and now I've got Logic Pro 8 and I can't seem to figure it out. I connected my Roland Fantom X6 to my toneport and then connected my toneport to my puter and Logic recognized the toneport right away and asked me if I wanted to use it. I clicked yes, it changed my core audio settings and I double checked them. I can't hear anything. I had programmed a drum beat prior to attempting to record my keyboard pieces. Why can't I hear anything? and What kind of a track do I need to create to record my keyboard?
Thanx =)

  • Using the MPK Mini with Logic Pro

Hi, I got an MPK Mini with Logic Pro.
At first it was working fine but I left it for a couple of weeks but now when I plug it in, Logic doesn't recognise it anymore.
I've read this http://documentation.apple.com/en/logicpro/controlsurfacessupport/index.html#cha pter=1%26section=1 but I still haven't been able to get it working.
    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Hi again Bill,
Something very strange has happened this morning. I was using Logic and thought 'I'll just plug in the TASCAM again to see if anything happens' and it just worked straight away. This is most peculiar as I didn't do or press anything to make it work. Yesterday when I was trying to get it to work, I closed the program and restarted the computer several times are making adjustmemnts but it just wasn't working at all. It seems a good night sleep has gievn it time to think things through lol.

  • Using a drawing tablet with Logic Pro, esp. for hyperdraw?

Is anybody using a drawing tablet, such as the Wacom Graphire 4, with Logic Pro? I am particularly interested to hear whether a tablet makes inputting hyperdraw data easier.
    Thanx and cheers,
    Vincent

Yeah, it changes everything — from selecting menu items, to turning knobs or moving sliders. You'll never go back... This is due to the fact that pointing and clicking are merged into one gesture, like playing a piano key takes care of selecting both the pitch and the velocity.
Be sure you get a small model though, not the big one that they use with Photoshop...
I find it indispensable whatever the kind of application I'm using, be it a text processor or an audio editor, whenever precise selection or action is required — to the point that I feel awkward when I'm forced to use a mouse.
By the way, people who are used to using trackballs feel the same — but this isn't true for track-pads.

  • How do I use the App store with macbook pro and mac pro

I currently use the app store with the mac book, but want to buy (share?) apps and music with the mac pro.
I can't find anything that specifically outlines how this works.
I use SplashID with the macbook and an iPhone, and want to use it (and sync it) on the mac pro as well.
If you buy apps for a macbook, can you use them on a second machine, or do you need to buy it a second time?

Your license from the MAS allows you to download and install the apps on as many Macs as you own or have under your control (institutional or employer supplied Macs.) The Mac should to be running Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard or Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion. Open the MAS app on the Mac Pro and sign into your account to have access to download all of your previous purchases in the Purchased pane.
Simple apps can also be dragged & dropped over a network connection from the MacBook to the Mac Pro.

  • Can anyone tell me the how to use the "ducking" process in Logic Pro 8?

    Howdy,
I've tried following the directions in the manual but I just can figure out the steps necessary to use the ducking process in Logic 8. For those who aren't sure what ducking is it's for instance, when you want a guitar track's volume to be reduced when a vocal track is active. As an example, there is a way to trigger the volume reduction in the guitar track(s) using a compressor in the vocal track. Whenever the singer is singing it automatically reduces the volume in the guitar track. I'm just not sure how to do this. Any help with the steps involved would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Well, the theory is you run say, the mix , through the 'ducker' or as I like to call it, the 'motherducker', then you simply sidechain say, a kick drum. That is to say, you route your kick to a bus or aux channel, preferably routed to a different output, then assign that bus or aux as your sidechain input in the ducker. The theory is that the through signal will duck on receipt of the sidechained kick.
Frustratingly, this ducker is the buggiest thing since a bug landed on a buggy while loading it into the back of a VW bug. It just doesn't work. well it works for a bit and then stops working. Or the kick comes through the ducker as well. Or some other manifestation of complete crapness. Come on Apple, sort it out - it's the sound that everybody wants!
    Sorry Mark L1

  • Can I use a US-122MKII with Logic Pro x?

    Hi All!
This is my first time on here so nice to meet you
My question is: Can I use the TASCAM US-122MKII with the new Logic Pro x on an iMac?
I've been using the TASCAM with my old Powerbook running Logic Pro 9 and it worked fine. Now however I can't get Logic Pro x to find it. I've tried scanning for it in the external interfaces section but it wasnt found. The iMac itself does find it and it appears in the system preferences sound section as an input. I've downloaded the latest software from the TASCAM website also.
I'm not very techy so may just not know how to do it.
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Brad

  • Using Alesis MultiMix 16 with Logic Pro 9

I'm wondering if anyone out there has any experience working with the Alesis MultiMix 16 Firewire and Logic Pro 9.0? I could use some help getting them to work together...

Yes it is possible, first connect your outboard to the soundcard.....then load the I/O (inserts) plug in on the track you want to process....you can find it in the utility menu....then set the routing of the signal in the I/O window....if you want to record the processed track create a new track with the right routing and the work is done.hope this replay help you . • How do I send a 2-10 MHz pulse train to my DAQ 6052E why simultaneously reading in data? I'm using the NIDAQ Tools with Igor Pro.

I need to send a continuous 2-10MHz TTL timing signal to a low pass filter (to set the cutoff frequency) while I collect data from one of the analog inputs. I'm hoping that I can send the TTL signal and collect the data through the same DAQ 6052E board.
I've been told that I can send a pulse train using one of the two counters on the board. But does anyone have more specific advice how to implement this using the NIDAQ Tools extensions to IGOR Pro? In particular I'm concerned about how I can send a continuous TTL signal and simultaneously read data. Or can you just turn on the timing signal and it stays on until it's
    turned off again?
    Thanks for your help

You can program one of the counters to generate a continuous pulse train. Once programmed to do so the counter needs no further interaction. It will continue to generate the signal until stopped through SW. So you can start the counter using the functions provided to you, then forget about it and program the AI operations.

  • Who uses mobileme share/sync with logic pro?

    hi.
just wondering if ANYONE actually uses the mobileme sharing preferences within logic and for what reason... do you sync between studio and home/laptop or is it just a backup?
Im interested to the feedback people have on it.
    Cheers!

I use it, though only to keep changes I make to my Logic key commands in sync across the various Macs that I use. I have a desktop for the studio, and laptop for the road, and another desktop where I teach. It's possible to accomplish pretty much the same with a flash drive. But since I'm already paying for MobileMe to keep calendars, contacts, bookmarks and such in sync across each machine and my iPhone, I decided to use MobileMe for Logic's key commands as well. I haven't actually tried the "Backup all my settings on MobileMe" option, though now that your question has me thinking about, perhaps I should. As far as just backup/restore is concerned, I do use TimeMachine, and I periodically run CarbonCopyCloner (which I think is a great little utility!). But an additional off-site backup for Logic Settings via MobileMe would probably be a good idea. Thanks for inspiring me to re-consider!

  • How can i use my axiom 49 with logic pro X

    Hey..
So I've been using logic to make music for a  while now and just recently obtained an axiom 49 controller to open my  possibilities. The only thing is, I have no idea exactly how to make it work the way I expected it to. All that comes by default is that my keybord works with all the types of preloaded instruments, but none of the faders or knobs work.. Is there something else i need to install or is it in the settings?
         Highly appreciate any help,
    Danny

Ok, I'll ask again... have you downloaded and installed the software that enables the keyboard to become a controller for all the functions you've described?
You have to be an active participant in getting things to work correctly.
Have you read the M-Audio manual that tells you how to do this?
Here, I just went to the M-Audio site.
    http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver&serie_ID=3&PID=65526d20ff 75725a01dcf4dfab822e9d#tabs
It looks like it's called Direct Link, I imagine it comes with directions how to install the software and get it working with the keyboard. It's for Logic 9 but I suspect it will work with Logic X

  • Can i use my digidesign 002 with logic pro 9

Hi does anyone know if i can use a 002 to interface with
    with logic

You will have to check with AVID/Digidesign to see if they have Core Audio drivers available for Mountain Lion.
Logic is Core Audio compatible so an interface has to have Core Audio drivers that are compatible with the operating system they wish to use it on.

  • Anyone use the Line6 KB37 with Logic?

I've been planning to get a new interface and was going to go with the Apogee Duet, but then discovered the Line6 KB37. Can anyone here that has it comment on it? How are the mic pres? Is it pretty stable? How is the latency? Feedback appreciated. Thanks....

hi..i've advocated the KB37 many times on this forum, you get a lot of bang for your bucks, the best aspect is that there is ZERO LATENCY!!, that's right, absolutely ZERO, so you can set logics buffer to max and it wont matter, this is because the KB does all the monitoring. The mic pre's however are very average, but for what you pay that's no surprise. You can hear some of my work on www.steveshadforth.com ,all logic and KB37. Good luck with whatever choice you make, keep coming back to the forum!! Steve

  • Evolution MK449C Mod Wheel problem with Logic Pro/VSL Performance Tool

I'm using the latest version of Logic Pro on a new Intel Mac Pro. My controller keyboard is the Evolution MK449C, connected via a USB cable.
When using a Logic Audio Instrument assigned to the ESX Sampler Plug-in (running various samples, mostly from the Vienna Symphonic Library,) Logic's Transport Window doesn't register any modulation information generated from my keyboard.
As the VSL Performance Tool relies heavily on the Mod Wheel info to effect the sounds, I'm at a bit of a loss to spot the solution. When I assign a different conroller to the Mod Wheel, i.e. volume, pan, pitch bend, etc., I can see the info in the Transport Window with no problem, so I know the wheel itself is working okay.
Has either Logic or the ESX got some kind of controller filter, - maybe I've accidently turned something on that cuts out any incoming modulation. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

It's good to know someone else is having a similar problem (if one can call that good!)
I've been poking around and I've also noticed this: If I create a cello part in Garageband, articulation works everytime I open it. If I take that Garageband song and open it in Logic, articulation still works everytime I open it. The Logic file in this instance is saved as a "Logic Song." I don't know how to tell, but I'm assuming the Logic song is drawing it's sound files from the Garageband song (I don't know how to check that).
However, if I save the newly created Logic song as a project - with all sound files being copied to folders within a master project folder - articulation does not work when I reopen the file.
    Strange. And frustrating.

  • Dangerous Music D-box with Logic Pro X

Hello; I am a D-box user and Love it! I have used it with PT11 and Studio One with no issues. Now I am trying to setup the routing for Logic Pro X and I'm having a heck of a time getting it to work properly. I get sound when in "analog & sum" mode but not in DAW mode. Yes, I have Print track set up, stems etc.. I have searched all over the internet and can't seem to find any help. I did watch Fab's video on YT with Logic 9 but still having issues. Is there someone here that uses a D-box with Logic Pro X that woudl be willing to give me a hand? I also use a U/A apollo interface. Thank you in advance! It would be so much appreciated.

I have had problems with this exact setup as well, LogicX - Apollo - DBox. All was working fine until a few weeks ago and then no more DAW S/PDIF. So after checking that the Apollo's S/PDIF was OK and checking cables with a volt meter, etc. I decided to send the DBox back for repair because all things pointed to a dead converter in the DBox.
It turns out they found nothing wrong with the DBox, no problems at all and it is being sent back to me. I will have it set up soon and will post again here my findings. Watch this space.
